The ??? is at G-8 now, not J-10.
After the 10 May 2011 update when the new, higher-level mobs were added to the J-10 room, the ??? that you trade the Tav. Bell to was moved to G-8 on the same floor (the floor you zone into from Beaucedine. It's the same room as the Miser Murphy spawn.

SummaryOnce you've found a Tavnazia bell in the Eldieme Necropolis, journey to Fei'Yin and commence the battle against the undead. WalkthroughNote:You must have completed Messenger from Beyond - WHM AF1 and Prelude of White & Black - WHM AF2 in order to activate this quest. In Chateau d'Oraguille, head to Prince Regent's chamber at H-8 and examine the door. A cutscene will begin, and you will be asked to obtain a Tavnazia Bell. To get a bell, head to Eldieme Necropolis and kill Dark Stalkers, which come in the form of Dark Stalker black mages, Dark Stalker rangers, Dark Stalker thieves and Dark Stalker warriors. When you have a bell, head to Fei'Yin, which is accessed from the northeast corner of Beaucedine Glacier. You will get another cutscene when you enter Fei'Yin. Head to J-10 on the top floor and trade the Tavnazia Bell to the ??? to spawn the notorious monster Altedour I Tavnazia. Kill the NM shadow to receive a Tavnazian Mask. Return to Northern San d'Oria and head upstairs in the cathedral. Trade the Tavnazian Mask to Narcheral to receive your Healer's Briault. Well i been doing this for about a week now the first time i went to do it it went perfect i got the drop from the Dark Stalkers with in the 3rd kill that was great and went to Fei'Yin with 2 other friends Tokomitsuki 75DNC/Nin Randoy 69Pld/War Mrkoolaid75Drg/Whm (me) and killed the NM with a little trouble Tokomitsuki and Randoy died at the end but i lotted the item and totally forgot about the drop thought it was a key item and i teleported out and lost the mask. The next time got the drop from the stalkers on the first one we fought then went and tried to kill the NM and died pretty fast could not understand how but now we are on our third try and got the drop from Dark Stalkers after about an hour our longest so far but hoping to kill the NM tommorrow night hope all goes well....

This is a follow up post to my last one. I just completed this quest last night it was rather easy when you have the right set up with you. I went with 2 friends Tokomitsuki and Randoy one was a 75 Dnc/Nin and the other was a 70 Rdm/Blm and i was a 75 Drg/War. The fight was still a pretty long one due to his massive amount of HP and here is a tip: do not try to interupt his spells even with a stun grip on my polearm i could stop him. And also watch out for sleep he casts sleepga II which can be pretty devistating when you can not be healed because the RDM it asleep. I do not think this NM can be solo'd with his massive HP and constant casting of spells i think a team of 3 is perfect. Good Luck to All of you about to do this quest and NM fight.

By far THE WORST part is getting a drop from Dark Stalkers. I didn't believe when some people posted that they were there for 4 - 8 hours trying to get the Bell to drop. I was one of the lucky one's and got the drop during the 3rd hour. Luckily for me I had a High Level Thf helping me out, but his Treasure Hunter ability was prety much useless.
Be prepared and get someone that has plenty of patience because you might be here a very long time. Hopefully the December update gives better drop rates.

well it doesnt say it on here but if you look on Shade it says it drops the bell also. i was wondering if any of you guys got the bell from a Shade because those are level 44-48 or soemthing like that. it would be easier for me to kill those instead of the dark stalkers. oh and can some one give me the POS of the darlk stalkers or at least the correct entrance to the dark stalkers? how much farther in do i have to go to find those things?

ok so no one seems to have answered my questions, but i guess i just went with killing the darkstalkers. no need to waste my time killing shades. the entrance i used to get to eldiehime is in battilla downs I-10 there when you enter you will run into a series of gates and levers that open the door you need at least two people to open and close these doors to get to the other sides now i dropped down in the center of this map and fell into an area with 4 dark stalkers with the respawn times of 15 min after the death. took about 1 hour with these four for it to drop the bell. so all in all i had help from two people Tickles and Spiderbozz on bismarck thanks again to you both spider was 75 ninja and tickles was 75 whm and i ws 52 whm. we then procedded to kill the NM in feiyin he had tons of hp. he almost got wiped us but with two whm i used benedict and tickles also had to use benedict in order for us to win. by the time the fight was over we had both ran outta mp and was just hacking away at him when he was at 5 percent hp. GL to the others who have to do this quest too just ask and kind people will offer to help you

I have been experimenting with rdm/pld alot so I decided to head out there like that and kill him right fast. I mean he is an AF NM, he can't be that hard? WRONG. The fool has an en-aspir that drains about 110 mp each hit. Needless to say I used my warp scroll and had to go farm another Tavnazian bell. (I wish the dark stalkers would respawn alot faster). After I got a THF friend to help me, we head up there as 75rdm/nin and 75thf/nin. This guy has waaay too much accuracy, so my THF friend died with it left at 75%, and leaving me with 40 mp, 300 hp, and convert down. It's HP has to be enourmous. After DoT kiting it I was eventually able to take it down and had 15 minutes left to raise my THF friend before his time was up.
So things to note when planning a party:

Good accuracy
Resists silence like a mofo
Likes to stop and cast spells ALOT if you are kiting, so cuts down on how much you have to bind/gravity

so this is my story of soloing him. He's actually the first real "hard" NM i've ever soloed. I'm 75 RDM/BLM. Got my bell first kill, I start to ToD, got tired 20 seconds later and said "he can't be that tough".. boy was I wrong.. like zex said, he has enaspir like no other, 100+ and that staff deals some serious damage. so of course I died..
Round 2: I fix my macros, blink,Stone Skin,bind, gravity, bio, poison, burn, choke and that other BLM DoT I can't remember. Every thing was going great until about 15% he aspired all my mp, got hit with -aga and was bio.. headed to the zone, but couldn't make it.
Round 3
The best advice first is to bring mp items just incase. set up your macro list, bind is your friend, gravity sticks to, but since every NM grows resistant to gravity I only used it sparingly.
spawn the mob, cast as many DoT spells as possible before he cast a nuke. Then run off to a large area where you can run in circles. I ran around in the the first open area from zone.
Note 1: Eventhough you may be running in a circle, he will run as straight of a path as possible, meaning he may cut you off so be carefull. There are two path ways you can take in the first open area to escape if runs up on you expectingly
Note 2: if you're kiting him and he is bound, do not run up to him and DoT him unless you're close and physically saw him stop moving. Sometimes he will be casting a spell and it wont show up on the log (with no animation), you run up to DoT him and bam, you get hit from Firaga III..
Note 3: The best time to cast a ToD on him is wait right after you bind him, stay at a good distance away that you can run but close enough to see if starts casting a spell. If he casts bio/poison then you cast your DoTs, if he casts -aga spells, run away and wait till he is unbound and try again. Don't run back to him because of "Note 2". He may not hit you, but its not worth it. If he casts a blinkable spell, depending on your hp/mp ratio, I would take the hit and get my DoT off. if you're low on hp/mp run away and continue to run
Note 4: his range of spells is larger than yours
Note 5; Do not erase the DoTs he put on you, if he sleeps you, it can get real ugly real fast, just keep up Stone skin and regen, when you're slept take off Stone Skin and start running. You can bring poison pots, but he does bio and poison so often that it isn't necessary.
Note 5: Blink is your friend, aspir sucks all kinds of monkey balls
Note 6: Do not get near this guy, he hits hard and can enaspir your mp, if you get stuck in a corner and you have to turn around, wait till he's casting a long spell then run by him, trust me, you're better off getting hit with a spell then by his staff or his TP move..
Note 7: if your bind lasts 2 seconds and he's after you again, dont worry, let him start casting a spell, he naturally tries to keep his distance unless you're really close, once he stops, take off again, if you keep running around Fe'yin in one of the larger circular paths, you eventually gain enough time to cast any buffs you need to before he catches back up to you.
I hope that helps somewhat.. just be careful took me forever, but then again, this was my first :)

I did this with my linkshell last night [thanks again, guys ^^], and he went down in about 1-2 minutes, if that.
We had:

So we split up into two parties and joined as an alliance. I teleported both parties to Vahzl, and we all met up at Fei'Yin... Cleared the room of the two shadows that pop in there... spawned him, and then raped the thing. I was main healer, for both parties. I only had to throw out a cure 3, maybe two times if that, and a haste/regen II, even though it wasn't really needed. Only one or two people went in the yellow, until towards the end, when the NM decided to go out with a big bang and cast an AOE before he died, that brought everyone down to about half HP or so. So I really had my work cut out for me then, lol. But other than that, peice of cake. =]
**I'd like to make a correction to the part of the Quest that says: "You will get another cutscene when you enter Fei'Yin". After you enter Fei'Yin... There are actually TWO cutscenes. When you first enter Fei'Yin and get the first cutscene, ZONE OUT, and then zone back in, to get the other cutscene. My LS mates and I were standing at the spawning point at first, scratching our heads, as to why trading the Bell to the ??? wasn't working. It kept saying, "You find nothing." So without activating the second cutscene, it won't pop. Hope this helps and saves someone else some time.** =]

Just did this with 1 PLD Lv.70 (Riland) 1 PLD Lv.75 (Kowanda) 1 DRK Lv.75 (Galioth) and myself Lv.58 WHM (Masoner)
Fight was decent, Yellow HP for the PLDs a few times and at the end of the fight we were close be being out of MP.
Play smart and this is a win.. not a "easy" win but just a win.

I'd like to correct the above poster's remarks about the cutscenes. There is only ONE cutscene for this quest. There are some other quests/missions that give you a cutscene upon entering Fei'Yin (most notably mission 5-1 for all countries). Just make sure you see the cutscene with the Sandorian prince and his aide and you're all set.

hit with dimensional death like twice but that did no real dmg, maybe like 400
i cured 4 times total but kept regen II up all the time
was pretty easy after all (just getting the bell was a pain >< but i had help from some nice ppl <3)

Just Duo'd this thing today, with 75 SMN/WHM + 75 RDM/NIN, easy as pie, and done in like 15-20 mins tops. SMN kept summoning garuda and using Pred Claws, I kept grav, slow II, para II, poison II and bio II (other RDMs could use Bio III if they wanna do this... i dont have that merit) on it. When garuda died, i'd kite, and repeat. didnt even have to leave the small room where it pops, just used sleep II on the shadows when they repoped.

OK I just did that kite strat as my 75RDM/NIN and it was so long and boaring. So i'll just repost for people who can't get help and want this for WHMAF3 asap.
Things you need Mp@~700 Windstaff, Icestaff, and 1hr. yes it takes this long
1. Go to the bathroom, let out pets, and make sure you wont be interupted.
2. Find the tunnel at F-9 that loops back to the large room and remeber this spot.
3. Kill the 2 shadows by the ??? @j-10 where this ass pops.
4. Cast StoneSkin, Utsusemi:Ni, Refresh then heal to full then trade your Tavzanian Bell to the ???. He will pop and if you're luck he'll only do a normal elemantal spell not a aga
5. Land a Bio2 and a Poison2 then gravity
6. Run Away!
7. Lead him back to the large room you had to go through to get there and keep Bio2 and Poison2 on him and a gravity if you don't like him coming up on you at all.
8. Remeber that room at F-9? You better becuase thats where you'll play ring around the rosey for the next 55mins. Keep shadows, stoneskin up. Run him around and land those Bio2 and Poison2 when you notice the "Bio II wears off" "Poison II wears off" come on your chat log.
9. If he gets too close Bind his ass, and keep it moving Deminstional Death wont work if you're to far away.
10. He's dead eat a Jelly Doughnut you deserve it.
Little tips. Don't be affraid of FiragaII its week and stoneskin wont get taken from it. Run Away! from those WateragaIII and ThunderagaII they hurt. Even though you shouldn't have a problem. FireIII and BlizzardIII are perfect times to trade a shadow to land one of those Bio2's or Poison2's if you are to busy running or you get the dreaded casting interupted because of your sh*ty ass router!!! I know I was stopped biatch.
He uses FIREIII, BLIZZARDIII, STONAGAIII(rare), FIRAGAII(alot), WATERAGAIII(alot), SLEEPGA(very rare), SLEEPGAII (Very rare),-- PoisonII, BIO II, Drain, Aspir-- are the most common spells he uses. Tried using Dimenstional Death 3 times. Uses Manafront at 50% but that doesn't mean a thing since he is chasing you like an R-Tard.
If you area afraid of kiting something for almost an hour and you think you might screw up make a panic macro just in case he takes your shadows and knocks away your stoneskin this would work:
/ja "Fast Cast" <me>
/ma "Cure IV" <me>
/wait 1
/ma "Stone Skin" <me>
/wait 1
/ma "Cure IV or III" <me>
then you can hit your normal marcos for your bind and refresh and what not.
Other than that I think I covered everything. Take Care and Have fun with this dude

He uses FIREIII, BLIZZARDIII, STONAGAIII(rare), FIRAGAII(alot), WATERAGAIII(alot), SLEEPGA(very rare), SLEEPGAII (Very rare),-- PoisonII, BIO II, Drain, Aspir-- are the most common spells he uses. Tried using Dimenstional Death 3 times. Uses Manafront at 50% but that doesn't mean a thing since he is chasing you like an R-Tard.
If you area afraid of kiting something for almost an hour and you think you might screw up make a panic macro just in case he takes your shadows and knocks away your stoneskin this would work:
/ja "Fast Cast" <me>
/ma "Cure IV" <me>
/wait 1
/ma "Stone Skin" <me>
/wait 1
/ma "Cure IV or III" <me>
then you can hit your normal marcos for your bind and refresh and what not.

The best insurance you could ever have on this NM is a high level player that does not receive aggro from any of the monsters on the first floor. If you get in trouble with this NM, i.e. begin to wipe, have this player grab the NM and kite him on the first floor, preferably in a hallway that loops. Do not kite him in any area with shadows that would link.
He is particularly easy to kite because he stops so frequently to cast spells. No speed movement equipment or abilities are necessary to kite this NM. Raise everyone and rest off weakness while the designated player kites.
It should be noted that while the player will be able to outrun all -ga III and -ga II spells (assuming he is at a considerable distance when the spell casting begins), the NM may be able to land Bio II, Poison II, and Drain on the kiter. For this reason, the kiter may need a mage to provide a little assistance.
He is also susceptible to Bind and Gravity.
With the above, it's very simple for a 75 BLM & any other job that can kite (must have some hate generation method) to craft a strategy to duo this, although the time requirement may be a bit much for most people.

I just did this fight and it was INTENSE! My setup was:
Atrelamine: 75 PLD/WAR (tank)
Nohn: 75 PLD/NIN (dd)

Holy CRAP this thing spams the hell outta DD, from the get-go until we killed it a couple minutes later. Only got thru our tank's shadows a few times both times we killed him. Got to do it twice for our BST who also needed it for his WHM. Total time for both fights: 12 minutes.

Yay! I just got the bell within 10 Minutes and have just defeated the NM with my <3 Linkshell ^^. To be honest with 7+ people it is "easy prey" just gotta check on the tanks HP.

Yay finally ;p after 2 weeks of waiting i got this from my <3ly Linkshell ;p ( i <3 you guys lol) it took less then 2 hrs to get the bell and the NM O.o i was amazed.

So, got some LS mates together to help out with the bell and battle. We figured it was going to be an all night ordeal...Sadly mistaken. One of the fellow mates explained that he had to wait 2 weeks for his bell to drop. (Personally I think he was exagerating a tad). Well that got me down. Went into the Eld. Nec.....Dropped off first mob. Got a /tell "I hate you" From the LS mate. lol Went on to fight the mob in Fei'yin, successful night wrapped up within 45 mins.

I was wondering if I could pop the NM with a job other than WHM. Don't want to travel all the way to Fei Yin and then find out that I can't. I popped the weapon af NM as RDM, so I am not sure if I can do the same for this one.

Yes, u can do this with a different job than whm. Just did this as nin, lotted on the mask and took it to Narcheral as nin.

im in fei yin with a group of about 7 ppl, 2 ppl need the AF piece, they both got all the CS's and have done the mitts quest and they have the bell but trading to the ??? isnt popping it, any ideas?

I have come to the conclusion that fighting this NM, and winning, has nothing to do with how strong you are. It is pure luck, and nothing more.
I know four WHMs who said they killed this guy with no problems, no deaths, and it wasn't a 40 minute long fight where a two SMNs kite the thing around.
Then there's me. Every time I fight this guy, I get the shaft. He uses -aga III magic that can't be interrupted and Dimensional Death that can one-shot Galka Lv.75 MNKs. I've tried it with a 75NIN and 75RDM/NIN, and we died. I tried it with an alliance of nearly all Lv.70+ people, and we died. I got so mad one day that I solo'd the little creep. And I died. I got a couple SMNs to help me out, and they did really good kiting and slowly taking down his HP. But then he slept the avatar and used -aga III on us. We all died.
So for everybody saying that this guy is easy, and that it only takes a couple people, well, you got lucky. He's not easy. It takes more than just a couple people. I've tried every strategy, and I'm just ready to murder that evil thing from hell.

lol not so much luck ^^; and i never said he was easy xD (took 40 mins obviously not easy) but perhaps there was a lack of skill? I mean after fighting THAT many times u'd think u'd pick up on something to help u out....Maybe it's just me =)

I just want to say this was easy once I had help to do it.
First off me(WHM57) and my friend(WHM58) both needed the bell so we dragged her friend(THF58) along then shouted in Jeuno for about 10 mins till someone offered to help(SAM75) so we went off to The Eldieme Necropolis, and started killing Dark Stalkers. Then an LS member(THF48) got bored and decided to join us and 20 mins later both us White mage's were both back in jeuno with our Tavnazia Bell.
It took about an hour to get a party going for the Altedour I Tavnazia fight, but in the end we all headed to Fei'yin(all 10 of us) three of us doing the quest. So in the end we had to fight the Altedour I Tavnazia three times and we owned him. Not a single death.
I just want to thank everyone who helped and congratulate the two who also got there Healer's Briault's. Hope you enjoy them.

Okay, so I spent about 3 weeks trying to get help for this quest...everyone on Asura are a bunch of chickens bc it's a shadow type...ZOMG!!!
But anyways...this fight was a lot easier than everyone told me.
My friend threw up stoneskin, and blink, while I threw up sneak, then Regen II and Hasted him. Popped the NM and he immediately casted Drain on me...Drained for about 100HP. My bad..no stoneskin or anything else lol. Friend summoned Carbuncle and carby went right to work while we ran as far as we could. Shadow spams Dimensional Death which I counted at least 11 times that I could see, one time I got hit in the crossrun with full health and it hit me *whm's are squishy* for about 200HP. But he spams DD, Drain, staff has MP Drain...no biggie he's hitting carby, and uses lvl III elemental spells. After he killed Carby, we were long gone and resummoned him and ran away again. Blood pacts from Ifrit since the shadow's weak to light and fire did significant damage. Got him down to half HP. Continued the carby kite, til he got to 1/4 HP. 2HR'd......it like...scratched him lol. No worries, continued carby kiting. I saw his name turn grey, he hit the floor, mask dropped...I scared the crap outta my brother bc I screamed..took 40 mins with just me and the SMN. Lengthy..but 40 mins is nothing compared to the 3 weeks trying to get someone to help. Tankies Preddy ^^

Took me two tries at this NM, but finally got it.
Got my 1st T. Bell during a Sandy Escort mission.
Went with a 75 War/Nin (Fudan, Thanks for the attempt) with myself as 75 Smn/Whm...
War got D. Death'd after his shadows went down.
After that I was a goner. Luckly a passing Whm gave us both R3, but by then the NM had despawned.
2nd attempt
A couple of days later I got my T. Bell on 1st kill ^^. Don't hate me because the War and I did come back right after the 1st attempt and we killed for maybe 2 hours with zero drops.
This time I decided I would try something a lil different. I asked a fellow lvl 75 Smn if he would help me carby kite the NM. He agreed (you rock Ryena).
Went over to the pop spot, put up stoneskin with Titan and popped the NM. NM aggros me and misses. My lil blue buddy does his duty and attacks the NM. Carby does hit pretty good on the NM averaging around 70 per hit. I kept Carby on the NM while Ryena used a couple Fenrir's as well as Carby on him.
Final result: T. Mask Mine ^^
Total Time: 15 mins (stoneskin wore off right before he died)
We were never in any real danger and neither Ryena or I was hit by the NM as far as I could see.
So if you are having trouble with this NM and you know a couple high lvl Smns, you can get this done .
Now I just need the lvls to wear the dang thing.

Got my 1st T. Bell during a Sandy Escort mission.
Went with a 75 War/Nin (Fudan, Thanks for the attempt) with myself as 75 Smn/Whm...
War got D. Death'd after his shadows went down.
After that I was a goner. Luckly a passing Whm gave us both R3, but by then the NM had despawned.

Killed this NM twice last night with this setup:
NIN/WAR 75
DRG/WAR 70
WHM/BLM 68
WHM/BLM 62 (me)
WHM/BLM 57
The 2 fights were way different, in 1st fight Casted like crazy its Sleepga (like 8 times)
Lot of DMG with Dimensional Death... The DRG used 2hrs because 1 Dim. Death the Tank went red HP only once the fight was like 10 mins long...
2nd fight no sleepga, less DMG with Dim. Death in other words way easier (like 7 mins fight)...
Used for this fights:
5 poison potions
4 yag Drinks
1 Rolanberry Pie
Melees used top food too, whms just pies >.>
So This NM isnt that Bad Ass like some posts say (was the reason because I waited that long to fight him) but:
1. Poison potions are a most have
2. Need a high lv tank
3. Enfeebs were ABSOLUTELY useless in this guy
4. Need kinda good luck
One last thing This guy is a BLM 100% sure he uses manafont, so not a RDM like saw in some posts..
So brothers and sisters WHMs go for it!!

Has anyone mentioned that if you lose the fight you need another bell? We found that out the hard way..
Our first day on this quest was me WHM57/BLM .. another WHM60/BLM who also needed this fight (have to fight it once for each whm) a THF71 and a guy who offered his help from a shout in Jeuno, he remained /anon throughout but we figured he was 75nin..
So we spawn the mob and everything is going fine.. as soon a the ninja's shadows drop he goes straight into orange.. it's not pretty.. ninja full life, the thf gets hit so both whm's casted cureIV to but him back on full and while that was happening, unexpectedly the ninja dropped.. so we escaped out..
second time round with my Tavnazia Bell.. everything was going smoothly, the 60WHM ran out of MP and i was on 206 with 18%HP left on the NM.. and again the nin dropped down to orange life.. I click cureIV and nothing happens, do it again nothing happens.. and then the ninja dropped.. so either, he was dead and my macros didn't work cos my computer had to atch up or some unfair glitch happened but we lost taht one aswell..
Got a new bell and went back today.. I think this was more of a revenge thing for the ninja than helping me out lol.. with him he brought 2 whm70+ one of which was 75.. another nin75 and a rng75.. the NM had no chance.. it was an amazing fight i swear it..
so in conclusion.. for this fight either get your 70+ friends help or shout in Jeuno.. this quest is designed for people my level but how they manage it is beyond me..

I just had the wildest fight ever with this AF3 NM
Originally, it was me (on Amai), my whm75 friend, and a nin75 friend of hers...
So everything is going ok...then like what's been said in previous posts, it cast sleepga and chaos begins. Takes the ninja out, then the whm out, then only me (whm56/nin25) was left. I end up throwing up utsusemi and stoneskin, and kiting him around for about 10 minutes (because we don't want to go through the trouble of getting another bell), then I raise the whm and she raises the ninja...
Then the nin decides to try kiting it because of the speed boost from AF boots. But I already have hate built up from the last fight so he can't keep it off me enough. So it starts casting firaga on me as I'm running by where the nin and whm have just been raised...they die AGAIN. I live because of stoneskin.
The nin has to leave, so I kite the mob for another 10 min...I get ahead of it enough to rest MP and raise II the whm again...by this time, she has gotten two more 75 nin from her LS to come fight it...whm puts up RR3, and tries to take kite from me again...she succeeds, but then dies ><
So she reraises and rests up to full, and by that time, her ninja friends have arrived while I'm still kiting it.
The nins get there and the fighting begins again. Then guess what! He casts sleepga II *again*. both ninjas die, the 75 whm begins to kite, and I R2 both ninjas. By this time, it only has like 10% HP left so the ninjas get up and fight it while still weakened, and finally, after 4 ninja deaths, and 3 whm deaths, we killed the damn thing.
Don't be an idiot like me and stand next to it after one sleepga disaster. Be sure there is at least one mage a distance away to to wake people up.
The one ninja was enough damage to beat the nm, just be sure you everybody stays alive and this can be a smooth fight. (Edit: My whm friend had club up and was doing hexa strike, so she was effective damage too.)

Just went to Necropolois thru the Southernmost entrance in Batallia and made my way to the Hume Bones (yes u need someone to open the doors >.< ty Xenosaga!) Did this as 69Rdm/Blm. Dark Stalker was EP so i buff up and pull one in. Three rounds of Blink/Stoneskin, Phalanx and Enfire later he dropped Tavnazian Bell and Absorb-Vit (which is almost worthless on Valefor @ 1k). He hit me a few times and did 5 Dimensional Deaths but buffs ate it all. I just melee'd and used Fire or Light WS.

Was shouting in Lower Jeuno for an hour...finally got two people who wanted to help. It's a goal of theirs to duo every AF NM, and this was the only they haven't done I think, and were the most scared of.
It was a 75 MNK/NIN and a 75 RDM/BLM (and me, 57 WHM). I thought we were dead for sure after someone in LS said they were owned with a 71 PLDN and 75 RDM/NIN. So we're pretty damn nervous...we get there, buff up and everything, and it was EASY. Not even a challenge. The monk had no problem keeping hate, didn't come over to us once...and it didn't cast Sleepga. Spammed Dimensional Death but mnk kept up his shadows. He went into the yellow once toward the end but we cured him quickly. Very, very easy =) I think we got somewhat lucky though. I would recommend bringing a full party unless you're desperate ^^

Just a simple question. Killed this thing more then a few times with a friend of mine for some other people. But now I am wondering can my friend pop him being her lvl 75 pld or will it only pop if she is her whm? I'll prob find out on my own but if someone knows it would be great help to let me know. No Idea but I need this AF item as well but my LS is always busy and cant help. Typical life of a WHM must depend on others lol.

Carby Kite for the win. Took 40 minutes to do it though.
And I can't take all the credit because I had a friend that was clearing out the two Shadows that spawn in that room.

solo'd this quest nm, took me 2hrs, and crap'd my pants several times, do not try unless your willing to last for hours..
seriously... incredibly hard to solo,.. good luck with rdm/blm, he spams ga spells and alot of sleep spells, i'm 1/2 on this af3nm, died the first time and didnt learn my lesson.. was rather pissed so i camped bell again, just to get my revenge... #_@;

whm af3nm, blm af3nm, thf afnm, nin af3nm, ifrit prime, shiva prime, leviathan prime, ramuh prime, garudo prime, titan prime, sewer syrup,.. some others too.. will put them down as i solo'em..

I've got issues with this piece of armor. I would love to get it. I've been wanting to complete my AF by finishing this quest since level 54. Every weekend, for the past 17 weeks I've sat in Lower Jeuno on Gilgamesh spamming shouts for help. NOBODY even offered to help. The only /tells I've gotten were ones like "LOL! OMFG! You'll never find anybody to tank that NM!" and "If you find 15 Lv.70+ people to help you, I'll come too." It is getting annoying.
In the meantime, I have leveled up 11 levels (now 65) and farmed Spider Webs and Tree Cuttings for hours on end (Lvy and Mangavin are the china bots guarding the Goobbues, and I've now officially pissed them off to no end with help from my bestest best friend Blindedangel). Anyway, I got enough Gil to buy full Noble's set, and I'm debating on whether or not I should even finish this. I still shout in Jeuno, but I'm getting tired of it. I do want to get the complete set eventually, if only just to store it with NPC.
Anyway, if you're on Gilgamesh, and you're not filled with abject terror by this NM, could you please help me out?

OK, so I thought I would share my AF experience.
After waiting weeks to do this, assembled a party to go kill the NM. Party consisted of and awsome 75 RDM/NIN, another awsome 75 NIN and little old me (59 WHM at the time)
Get there, pop the NM...going good. All of the sudden he spams nukes like they are going out of style. NIN and I both take a quick dirt nap. RDM/NIN kites the mob around Fei'Yin, while we collect R3 from some random whm...just happened to be in the area. Lucky.
Weakness wears and RDM and NIN tear the guy up. Got my briault thanks to some very cool people. Fight was scary, but was a blast.
And, just because i noticed this....dimensional death barely even took a sliver of life from both the RDM or the NIN. And yes he did spam it. Water 3 or w/e it was though however.../shudder.
