Summary

There are reports that the Cat Burglar has been loitering around the Ghostly House in Windurst Walls. This looks like a job for the Star Onion Brigade! Gather four wild onions so Kohlo-Lakolo and his gang can create the perfect trap!

Walkthrough

Speak once again to Kohlo-Lakolo in Port Windurst and he will explain he is now in need of some wild onions. You can get these from Goblin Thugs out in the Sarutabaruta plains. When you have obtained 4 onions, return to Kohlo-Lakolo and watch the cutscene. He will give you a reward at the end: a Scroll of Blaze Spikes.

After you give Kohlo-Lakolo the four onions and receive the scroll, head over to the House of the Hero in Windurst Walls at (G-3). There will be a cutscene when you try to enter the building. After the cutscene run back to Kohlo-Lakolo to finish the quest.

Quest Updated??
# Apr 22 2004 at 9:59 AM Rating: Decent
I did this yesterday, after the new update of patches. The quest worked a little differently than described.

No longer does one need to run over to the House of the Hero to get the Cat Burglar cut scene. I got the Blaze Spikes and checked quests in the menu pull down, it certainly says this quest is complete.

I just finished this quest.
Had the tails and the onions sitting in my safe. Pays to save random crap eh?

Anyways you get a justice badge and then blaze spikes. If you don't like it? Then do the quest JUST for the sake of how hilarious it is. "Don't fire till you see the whites of her eyes".

Just go behind the warehouses, talk to the guy. get the onions. Zone, come back in and talk to him again. The haunted house is the house of the hero. Go there, get cutscene. Go back to the warehouse after they all run. Talk to them, and you've completed it.
That's as far as i've gotten with the S.O.B.s' haha.

Leigaon the guy that said "Dont fire until you see the whites of their eyes" was taken from the revolutionary war from the battle of bunker hill when the americans were short on ammunition and they held it for a while. just learned this lol

Inspector's gadget
# Mar 05 2004 at 10:27 PM Rating: Decent
Help!I can't get the inspector's gadget quest. I finished (in the completed quests) both the badge and the onions quest however, I forgot to go to the house of heroes so when I got back they told me ...you missed all the fun. I don't know what happened but I went to the house of heroes much later, no cutscene (because they said it already happened) and then returned and all they say is their motto..nothing else.I want to finish this as I got the Cotton..thanks Chey
Here's what you do!!

After receiving blaze spikes, go over to the House of Heroes in Windy Walls G-3. When you try to enter, a cut scene will begin. After that's over go back to Kohlo-Lakolo in Windy Port to finish the quest. Good Luck to everyone

There's a taru on top of the Orastery who will warp you to the Windhurst Walls AH. Speeds up the trip to the House of the Hero a bit.
Cut Scene
# Jan 20 2004 at 9:51 PM Rating: Decent
I went to the house and wandered all over it. Couldn't get anything to go until I went down the path a little past the house, talked to Gerun-Garun. He said the kids called it a ghosty house. Went back after that and was able to click on the front doors and got the cut scene.

after the quest I went to the house of heros and I couldn't get the cut scene. I clicked on the door and it says "firmly closed" or something of the sort. I didn't get anything else. I went back to talk to them and I got a new quest, "inspector gadget." If there was a cut-scene, then I guess I completely missed it.

Odd thing was, I didn't get the cut scene either. And I can't seem to finish the quest -_- I gave them the onions and they told me to go to the house, but nothing happens. What's even stranger, is that my boyfriend finished the quest a few hours later, gave them the onions, and got the cutscene automatically, without walking to the House of the Hero.
Cut Scene

the quest was worth it for the cut scene at the house. it was hysterical, but somehow I am not sure the cat burglar is going to like my yagudo necklaces anymore. I think I better watch my back. LOL.

this quest was quite easy, i traded the 4 onions and get the item.

it never said anything about meeting him at the haunted house
repeat?
# Nov 13 2003 at 11:59 AM Rating: Default
is this quest repeatable? if so, do i just trade the onions again or do i have to talk to the npc again..

Not repeatable, it's a "story" quest that's part of the Star Onion Brigade line

where in sandoria can you start this quest? doubfully a lvl10 spell can only be done in one town and not the others.

blaze spike is selling for 10k. that's insane.

# Nov 10 2003 at 8:35 PM Rating: Default
Just like San'doria sells better and more variety of weapons and armors, why can't Windurst have uniques spells of their own. If you want to learn this spell that bad, it's not like you can't travel to Windurst and complete the quest.
RE: onion quest
# Dec 11 2003 at 11:45 PM Rating: Default
lol we may have a better selection of armors.....for all classes BUT black and white mages, it is pretty hard to be a black mage in san doria without having to walk your happy *** all the way to windurst to get a level 10 spell
RE: onion quest
# Feb 26 2004 at 11:38 AM Rating: Default
However San Doria does have the Drain quest. ;)

Try going back to the SOB headquarter and talk to Kohlo-Lakolo again.
sellable
# Nov 05 2003 at 12:30 PM Rating: Decent
Is the spell sellable, Im a warrior and I need cash. Anyone know if you can auction this spell and for how much it sells?
Correction

- Proper name of this quest is "Know one's onions"

- There is no level requirement, however the "Truth, justice and the onion way" quest must be completed ahead of time....seems to require about 6 hours RL after completing an onion quest before the next one is available.

- Also this quest doesn't get marked as completed until you've visited the house of the hero even though you receive the reward beforehand

To recieve the next quest (and this is with every single quest giver that gives multiple quests) you MUST rezone (leave the zone and then come back) and then speak to the NPC.
Where is Kohlo-Lakolo?

Anyone got some map coords on this little guy? I've looked all over Port and not found him. =\

I did the whole thing. Then I went back to the apartments, and talked to them to see the cut scene. Are there further quests after that, or was that it? It seems like theres more to it, btu they dont tell you what to do. I went back to the house of the hero, but there was no cut scene.

I achieved this quest at level 6. I dont know if there is a level requirement.

After this quest, they ask you to meet them at the haunted house, to get the thief lady.

The spell is also usable by Red Mage's at level 20 (as opposed to Black Mages at level 10).
