Missionary Man  

I decided to finish this quest so I spent about an hour killing lizards in Yuhtunga, I log for about 3 hours and come back, I get the drop on the 1st lizzy I kill - how random.

Walked out of Kazham, killed the first lizard I saw, got the drop. Easy! ^^

i just got my marble, i was circling around with my 55drk with thf subbed for about 3 hours so i decide ill go round 1 more time and hope for the best and if it didnt drop id try another day, finally got the marble lol i couldent believe my eyes when i saw it

This is my first post 'cause i figured i'd have to after getting it on the second kill in the nearest tunnel. windsday a little before noon. i had th1. caught the next airship into town. hope that helps.

I am cursed in this game I swear !! I'm like 0/250 on NM drops ( Only 1 time had a cape drop from golden bat ) and now this .... Not the first time either that drop for one of the first sandy missions in King Ranperre's Tomb took me days as well.

Hard drop ok but SE really needs to build in some limits. As a 67 whm I ofcourse bought this scroll ages ago but since the price rose on them I thought I get some "quick" cash, RIGHT !!

Ofcourse 500 isn't an exact figure but after several sessions totalling 14 hours+ with friends in my pt scattered around the jungle I say it comes close. I almost made enough money on selling the tails in bastok to buy the scroll again SIGH !

This is the worst drop I've ever gone after. Worse than papyrus, worse than the Carbuncle Ruby, worse than ANYTHING.

Five hours, and 300+ lizards over the course of two days netted me nothing but frustration.

I read on these posts that some have had better luck in the Gemini Falls area, which I died twice (as a 62 black mage) trying to get to ... under the mistaken impression that I had to go through Ifrit's Cauldron to reach it. It was my own fault that I didn't read further about how to get to the area, but it was still frustrating.

I can attest to the fact that when I finally got to the Gemini Falls area, the situation did not improve a bit. If anything, I spent more time there than I did in the main part of the jungle, among the tunnels.

I was getting frustrated earlier today, as my available time to play was getting shorter and shorter. Finally, I told my linkshell (who had been listening to my complaints for a while) that the lizard I was on would have to be my last kill, as I was out of time. Lo and Behold, as I was getting ready to log out after the lizard's name went gray, I see the glorious text scroll up:

"You find a Slab of Elshimo Marble on the Ivory Lizard."

I swear, sometimes I think the game has a chat monitor that waits for you to say things like "this is the last one." o_O

At that point, of course, I could have easily made the money to buy the scroll straight out by doing something else, but it was no longer about saved gil for me. It was about making sure the quest didn't defeat me. >_<

For anyone else thinking of trying this, consider doing yourself a favor (unless you're up for a trial of patience) by just skipping this quest. The other white mage teleport quests are comparitively easy ... even the Vahzl one. This one will have you tearing out your hair.

I really didnt have much trouble with drop. I pretty much just sat in Kazham and waited to get a PT with my WHM. Once I got one and they were still looking for more members I would ask the leader to make it so I get all the drops for the next few minutes because I was going out to try and get my marble while we waited. They all agreed and I took out my BST and busted out the Antlion. Well I never got the marble after maybe only 15 kills this way. Before I was ready to log I thought I would whip out the RDM for the next 10 minutes and try to get. Bam, first kill, marble. ^^

It's just one of those drops you have to take your time and patience with. I did this a couple years ago with my WHM friend and it only took us 15 kills or so to get the marble.

i figured since everyone else has a story about how hard it is to get this, i may as well tell mine. i just got mine this morning...but how i got it is the bizzare part. i have this friend, who it seems everytime we help each other luck is always in our favor. i had been tryin to get the marble for the past 3 days with no luck. so, i decided to call on my friend to help. keep in mind that we have gotten eldieme necropolis coffer, the ancient papyrus for G1, and a few other rare/ex items all on the first drop when we are together. so, i log on this morning and try solo for a bit, but nothing. so my friend decides to tag along. on our way to kill lizards we were joking about how lucky we are when we get together. so.....we see the first liz and whaddya know, got the marble on the first f***in drop. big props to my boy Blasphemy on Fairy.

I got four within thirty minutes. I had Treasure Hunter one from my sub. My friend didn't get it before he zoned so we went and got another one for him in about five minutes.

I'm a 52thf/nin and have to start saving for my scorp. harness, so a friend of mine told me to do this quest and sell the scroll for a little extra gil. We went to Kazaam, duo'd 13 lizzies and got the drop on Earthsday 26% waning crescent.

This drop is so gay. I have spent like 10 hours over 5 sessions in my FFXI life on these lizards. I don't think it will ever drop. I of course bought it at 38, but this just sucks.

Ok I sent the marble to the guy at sandy early in the day and when I came back on at night time he was still not ready. Is there something that I am missing???
