Mission Orders

At the request of the Orastery, you are to go to the southwestern magic tower of the Horutoto Ruins, located in West Sarutabaruta. Deep within you will find a laboratory, where you are ordered to switch on the magical gizmo.

Walkthrough

To start the mission, go to any gate guard and accept the "Full Moon Fountain" mission. You are asked to go to the Orastery in Port Windurst. Go there and speak with Hakkuru-Rinkuru to receive a cutscene. Ajido-Marujido comes in and tells you to go to the Southwestern Tower at (F-11) in West Sarutabaruta. You will receive a key item: Southwestern Star Charm to open the door.

Head to the tower in West Sarutabaruta (F-11). When you enter, you should be in the Dahlia Tower. Go inside and go right, left, left, straight, right, right, and you will see a cracked wall in the next room. Yes, you kinda went in a circle. Go through the cracked door, and straight ahead of you is another. Go through that door, and you will see the Door to the room you need to get to. Upon clicking the door, you will see the message "A GUARDIAN IS BLOCKING YOUR WAY!" and the Jack of Batons, Jack of Coins, Jack of Cups, and Jack of Swords will spawn (all at once). All are around level 60-62.

There are two ways to do the fight itself. You can do it the cheap way or the real way. I did it the cheap way so.. I can only give help there. Put sneak up or have someone put it on you, and activate the spawn. They won't aggro if you have sneak on. Make sure you or someone else has summoning abilities. Summon Carbuncle or whatever you wish, and have it attack one. I took the Jack of Coins (RDM) and it was very easy. Let it come back to you and you can do 1 of two things. You have to wait for the other 3 to de-spawn before killing the one you pulled. So you can either sleep/lullaby it while you wait (Takes 2-3 minutes roughly for them to de-spawn) or whack at it until it's almost dead and then wait for the others to de-spawn then proceed to kill it. In any case, once it is dead go check the door and you will get a cutscene (If you want to do the fight the real way, I'd advise having an alliance of people, or a handful of 70+ could probably take it if they are good).

After the cutscene, return to the Orastery and speak with Hakkuru-Rinkuru. He will tell you that Ajido-Marujido went to the "central tower" of the Horutoto Ruins (where Toramarai Canal is), and asks you to bring him back. Toramarai Canal can be found in the tower near Spiny Spipi's spawn (J-7 of East Sarutabaruta). Upon entering, hang a right once you get to the large room. Go into the room in the corner there, and go through the cracked wall. Follow the path until you get to the room with the door with 3 circles in front of it.

This door can be opened 1 of 2 ways. The first way is to get a white mage, black mage, and red mage to stand on each of the corresponding circles (by color). If you did mission 3-2 and didn't skip it, you are able to get a charm (key item) to open the door. Trade a Rolanberry to Kupipi in Heaven's Tower to receive the key item (only if you completed 3-2). After going through the door just follow the path to zone into Toramarai Canal.

Once you go in, follow the path until you come to a T and go left. Follow the left wall once you get into the canal, continuing until you find a bridge crossing over to the right side. Cross it and follow the right wall going in the same direction that you were, and when you come to stairs leading down into the water take them. Go south and then head west when you can, following the tunnel until you come out and go up the stairs in front of you, and head North (you'll turn around from where you were going) and follow the wall. Go south into a hall when you see it, and follow the right wall now. Don't go into the middle of this room; just follow the right wall until you get to the north hallway heading into a hall with stairs. After following this path you will come to a Large Stone Door, which will lead you to Full Moon Fountain. Enter to see the cutscene where you and Ajido-Marujido will make a narrow escape. After the cutscene you will have completed the mission; you do not need to return to Windurst to finish it.

Me and my 72 nin/war friend tried to duo this, I subbed SMN and used Shiva to pull but unfortunately for me, this guide said nothing about Cardians aggroing to magic and i met with a very fast death. Had a 75 whm come raise me and we Trio'd it. Had to fight twice cause we killed the PLD first and they despawned as I was pulling the next. Had to leave the zone and come back. Then we pulled the PLD and the NIN soloed it until the other 3 despawned. Very easy, just remember that Cardians aggro sound and magic.

I was farming tens here the other day and saw a RDM75 come solo it. He just fought one while keeping the other 3 asleep.

Didn't even break a sweat really, just plowed his way through all 4 of them.

I did this last night, and I'd like to post my experence because some of the previous posts are contradicting.

First time I popped the Cards, we pulled it back, accidently casted magic too close to the others and got magic aggro off them all and wiped. (I was falling asleep.. meh)

Second time, pop them, pull one, slaughter it, and then a few minutes later the other three despawn. Talked to the door and did NOT get the cutscene.

Third time, popped them, pulled one, slept it untill the other three despawned, killed the one we'd pulled, and talked to the door and got the cutscene.

It is possible to only fight one, and get the cutscene.

After this cutscene, head to East Saru, go in the middle tower to the Toraimarai Canal. (you'll need three mages, RDM BLM WHM, or the portal charm) Inside the Canal, follow the right wall, and you will make it to the Full Moon Fountain. If you're confused, don't go down any steps, I think you cross over just one bridge. Just Sneak and follow the right wall.

I hope this clears a few things up.

Sidenote: if you're really lost in the canal go check this map out. (I don't know how to make links work or anything)

Just finished this mission solo. Wasn't hard at all if you have some experience in soloing as blm.

I popped them with sneak on, sleepga and silenced the coin. Then I woke the coin up and ran to the zone to remove hate. I zoned back in found the coin alone on the way and started killing it.

Basicly just nuke>sleep>nuke>sleep etc. Keep blink, stoneskin and aquaveil up all the time, keep it silenced and aspir when you can. If you're low on mp and you have buffs up, Ãts safe to rest. Imo the most important buff is aquaveil so you won't get interrupted.

gl to you ^^
Bad pull isnt so bad.

I figure I should mention this to anyone who wants to solo it without Carby pulling.

I was too close when i tried to silence one of the Jacks and they all aggroed me (I was at the end of the hall closest to them). So I ended rnning all the way back and zoning a ton of cardians.

I zoned back in picked one of the jack and pulled it to a corner where I killed it. Touch the Gizmo door and got that CS.

Lesson: even zoning them doesnt end that attempt, just kill any one jack before they all desawn and you can complete the mission.
Can be solo'd by 70 RDM

I solo'd this last night just to see if it could be done. Went as 70 RDM/BLM with mostly just AF gear and my staves.

The pull took a couple tries but I managed to just get the jack of cups by standing just at the limit of casting distance and silencing him. Pull him back close to cracked wall and initially tried to tank him. Unfortunately he was hitting a little too hard so I switched to the nuke->sleep strategy which went much better. Several cycles of SS->Blink->rest->Silence->Aspir->AeroIII->WaterIII with a couple converts mixed in and he was dead and the other Jacks had despawned. Got the cutscene and went on to the canal.

I might suggest pulling a different Jack for this strategy though since it was a very long battle with the Jack of Cups, primarily because he used Benediction. If one of the Cardians is a BLM or RDM, it might be a better choice. You can sleep most RDM's through Chainspell and AM takes so long to get off you can always silence or sleep a BLM.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 25 2005 at 2:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I tried this last night as 60pld/30whm, I was all buffed up and rdy to fight! 200%TP and full MP. I spawn the cardians, but forgot which one to pull, so I pulled the RDM cardian and blast him with Vorpal blade. His HP goes down about 1/4 then he uses chainspell and pwned me. :( Next time I'll pull the whm..

Clicking on the "Magical Gizmo" door is what spawns the cardians. It doesn't say that in the guide, but that's what it is. Be ready before you click on this door.
Not too bad

This wasn't so bad. We Trio'd this tonight, the party was 64whm/32blm, 61rng/30nin, 60rdm/1smn (me)

Basically, I subbed smn solely for carby pull. We pulled Jack of Cups, and went easy on it till the rest despawned, then we beat it into the dirt. It was a fun battle. Definitely doable. Had I known I'd ever use Carby pull, I'd have leveled my summoner.. but it's not something I use often enough to spend money/time on right now..

Kay I just did the Cardian portion of the mission a couple nights ago. (Still need to go to FMF) Anywho, I had my 75 SMN friend be my muscle and myself, 63BLM. I went to the tower, casted sneak, stoneskin, blink and examined the door. My friend just attacked the Jack of Coins (or whichever one was the WHM) Carbuncle was actually winning lol. Anyways none of the other cardians linked so she just let him pound on the cardian and after about halfway she pulled the cardian back and it used Benediction shortly after. By the time we were done the other three NM cardians had already despawned lol so I got my cutscene. So all you really need for this mission for the NM fight is a 75 SMN lol...

This guide is pretty poor. Anyone have some more info? As in how do we get to Outer Horutoto ruins, whihc position we spawn the Cardians at, how we get to the cardian spawn point, etc. There don't really explain anything, just go here and kill this.

The easiest way to get to the Outer Horutoto Ruins of this mission is to enter West Sarutabaruta from Port Windurst. Head to F-10/11. On your map, you will see a sort of white circle; that is how all the ruins are marked. Once inside, you are going to head to J-8. From the entrance: head down the steps. You will be forced to take a right at H-8. Next make a left at H-9, and then the next left again at H-9. Continue heading North until you reach H-8 again, then make a right heading East. (It forces you to zig-zag your way there). At I-8, make another right and go south. There you will see a "cracked wall." Go through it, and you are now off the map. You will just need to go straight East (maybe needing sneak depending on your level) until you hit a second cracked wall which will be at J-8. Through that door is where you will camp to fight the cardian/s. Hope that little walk-through helps. ^.^
As I was typing this out for you, I was looking at Vana'diel Atlas for the maps. I think it's a really useful site.

P.S. Rate down to Amangi for being a jerk.. There may be a time to flame, but it's not when someone is asking for clearer help.

That is because SW most tower is hard to find... and that zone was just so huge, I'd never figure it out. Come one people, use a little thought and it is easy.

OK, this guide sucks for the actual battle strategy. First off, do all the prebattle stuff: Protectra, Shellra, Reraise just in case, and be ready with Escape if you have it.

Now cast sneak on someone and have them go touch the door. The 4 cardians will spawn. Summon carbuncle (careful, they magic aggro) and have him attack the Jack of Cups. Run back to the group and release Carbuncle or let him die. Now, sleep the cardian and leave him alone until the rest of the cardians despawn. Then kill him and examine the door. You should recieve a short cutscene.

Once it's over head back to the Orastery and talk to Hakkuru-Rinkuru, the taru on the left of the platform. He should tell you to go to the central tower to find Ajido-Marujido.

Head to East Sarutabaruta and go to the central tower. Find your way to Toraimarai Canal using the maps on ffxi-atlas.com, then to Full Moon Fountain. When you enter Full Moon Fountain you will recieve the final cutscene for this mission.

PLD71
RDM65
SMN75
BLM50(me)

I touched the door, all 4 spawns, bam, critical hit of 303, then 210, I'm dead. RDM dies a few seconds after. PLD dies while running. SMN kills them all by himself..

Ok I'm am starting to get annoyed with this mission. I've died 2 times so far (2 separate fights) and today for some unknown reason we killed 2 the Cardians while the other 2 despawned but none of us were able to get the CS when we touched the door again. I am sooooo confused. Everyone claims that you are able to do complete this even if they despawn and you don't kill them all. Someone please help me out with this!
RE: What the hell?!
# Aug 29 2005 at 10:05 AM Rating: Default
As always...

If you have multiple NM's spawning you can wether kill them all... or kill just 1 or 2.

You will still get the cutscene, only if the last one you kill dies after the others despawned.

This works for a couple of San d'Oria Missions (King Ranperre's Tomb and Quicksand Caves) too... and for every similar situation. ;)

I just completed this yesterday with 60 RDM and 61 BST. Used sneak to spawn the cardians. We then pulled the WHM cardian with a pet and started fighting. It cast benediction, and we just kept beating on it. You have to wait for the other Cardians to despawn before you kill the one you have pulled or it doesn't work. "Letting" it cast bene gaves us the time we needed for the others to go. Otherwise, just sleep it until you are ready to do the final kill. This part barely took ten minutes to finish.

I solo'd this as a NIN60/SMN13 (subbed SMN for carby pull). Used Silent Oil to avoid aggro while popping, and then carby pulled. I'm not sure carby was neccessary, only the Ace of Cups moved. Somewhat long fight and the Ace of Cups used a lot of Banishga and Diaga, I probably would have taken the PLD if given the opportunity to try it again.

Go to any gate guard to start the mission.

Accept the ?Full Moon Fountain? Mission from them.

Once you accept the mission you are told to go to the Orastery in Port Windurst right away.

**When you arrive at the Orastery and talk to Hakkuru-Rinkuru a cut scene happens, Ajido-Marujido comes in and tells you to go to the southwestern tower in West Sarutabaruta, and to press the switch in the laboratory to activate the magic towers.

Head to the southwestern tower of the Outer Horutoto Ruins. ***Inside the ruins you will fight 4 Jack Cardians. Once you have defeated them, ****examine the door to receive the ?southwestern star charm? key to the laboratory, which is a key item.
----------------------------

** You will recieve the Charm Key Item after you recieve this CS. if you do not recieve it, you may have been disconnecting, and simply get the CS again to recieve the Key Item. Without this item, you will not be able to pop the cardians.

*** clear the room of cardians, and have everyone camp in the corridor leading into the pop room. Have one person Sneak up and touch the door. Carby-pull one at a time, as they seem to aggro magic. my alliance fought 3 while the 4th despawned, and got the CS fine. just try to pull and kill as fast as possible.

**** the Key Item will vanish. you will not recieve any Key Item upon re-touching door and recieving CS.
