Mission Orders

At the request of the Orastery, you are to go to the southwestern magic tower of the Horutoto Ruins, located in West Sarutabaruta. Deep within you will find a laboratory, where you are ordered to switch on the magical gizmo.

Walkthrough

To start the mission, go to any gate guard and accept the "Full Moon Fountain" mission. You are asked to go to the Orastery in Port Windurst. Go there and speak with Hakkuru-Rinkuru to receive a cutscene. Ajido-Marujido comes in and tells you to go to the Southwestern Tower at (F-11) in West Sarutabaruta. You will receive a key item: Southwestern Star Charm to open the door.

Head to the tower in West Sarutabaruta (F-11). When you enter, you should be in the Dahlia Tower. Go inside and go right, left, left, straight, right, right, and you will see a cracked wall in the next room. Yes, you kinda went in a circle. Go through the cracked door, and straight ahead of you is another. Go through that door, and you will see the Door to the room you need to get to. Upon clicking the door, you will see the message "A GUARDIAN IS BLOCKING YOUR WAY!" and the Jack of Batons, Jack of Coins, Jack of Cups, and Jack of Swords will spawn (all at once). All are around level 60-62.

There are two ways to do the fight itself. You can do it the cheap way or the real way. I did it the cheap way so.. I can only give help there. Put sneak up or have someone put it on you, and activate the spawn. They won't aggro if you have sneak on. Make sure you or someone else has summoning abilities. Summon Carbuncle or whatever you wish, and have it attack one. I took the Jack of Coins (RDM) and it was very easy. Let it come back to you and you can do 1 of two things. You have to wait for the other 3 to de-spawn before killing the one you pulled. So you can either sleep/lullaby it while you wait (Takes 2-3 minutes roughly for them to de-spawn) or whack at it until it's almost dead and then wait for the others to de-spawn then proceed to kill it. In any case, once it is dead go check the door and you will get a cutscene (If you want to do the fight the real way, I'd advise having an alliance of people, or a handful of 70+ could probably take it if they are good).

After the cutscene, return to the Orastery and speak with Hakkuru-Rinkuru. He will tell you that Ajido-Marujido went to the "central tower" of the Horutoto Ruins (where Toramarai Canal is), and asks you to bring him back. Toramarai Canal can be found in the tower near Spiny Spipi's spawn (J-7 of East Sarutabaruta). Upon entering, hang a right once you get to the large room. Go into the room in the corner there, and go through the cracked wall. Follow the path until you get to the room with the door with 3 circles in front of it.

This door can be opened 1 of 2 ways. The first way is to get a white mage, black mage, and red mage to stand on each of the corresponding circles (by color). If you did mission 3-2 and didn't skip it, you are able to get a charm (key item) to open the door. Trade a Rolanberry to Kupipi in Heaven's Tower to receive the key item (only if you completed 3-2). After going through the door just follow the path to zone into Toramarai Canal.

Once you go in, follow the path until you come to a T and go left. Follow the left wall once you get into the canal, continuing until you find a bridge crossing over to the right side. Cross it and follow the right wall going in the same direction that you were, and when you come to stairs leading down into the water take them. Go south and then head west when you can, following the tunnel until you come out and go up the stairs in front of you, and head North (you'll turn around from where you were going) and follow the wall. Go south into a hall when you see it, and follow the right wall now. Don't go into the middle of this room; just follow the right wall until you get to the north hallway heading into a hall with stairs. After following this path you will come to a Large Stone Door, which will lead you to Full Moon Fountain. Enter to see the cutscene where you and Ajido-Marujido will make a narrow escape. After the cutscene you will have completed the mission; you do not need to return to Windurst to finish it.

Despawn accident
# Mar 24 2009 at 6:52 AM Rating: Decent
Well, Since I didn't see anything about this in the upper parts(Sorry if someone had posted this on the lower), If you spawn them, then not pull them right away(letting them all despawn v.v), you'll ahve to wait abit.. I'm on 15mins, and still waiting.

Edit: Ok, Minus that... Right after I posted this, I hit it and they popped, So its 15-20min timer

Not too tough really

I've never really had a problem with this mission, bar the time our Blm took too long to check the door and spawned a second wave (ugh). Just try not to underestimate the strength of these Cardians, if left unchecked, they can pose a real threat. I've always killed the Cardians, we've never used a depop method. Really though, a basic exp setup can kill these around level 60 without too many problems. Just remember to check the door right away. As for getting to Full Moon Fountain, it may help to go in through Windurst Walls, if you can manage it. To answer a previous poster, no, this mission does not give you access to Toraimarai Canal through Wind. Walls, that is accomplished through a series of quests given by the Rhinostery in Windurst Waters. I should advise though, that if you do not have a map to Toraimarai (obtained from a coffer if memory serves) then you should probably go the route the guide describes.

Edit: I just took a party through this mission, following this guide, and I must give kudos to whoever wrote it, that bit about Full Moon Fountain was 100% spot-on and easy to follow.

Without any real issues (<3 Seigan + Third Eye)

I pulled the Jack of Swords, figuring the PLD would be the least challenging, and was more or less correct. Silent Oil, pop, /ra <t> and I was good to go.

One interesting note about the fight: I had a bit of a nerve-wracking moment when the Jack of Cups cast Cure V on the PLD Jack I was engaged with. I swore this meant I was about to get a linkfest and a quick jog back to the zone, but the WHM didn't move from his spot at the wall. I didn't want to test my luck a second time so I kited the PLD back a bit further just to be safe. *shrug* Guess it wasn't that interesting... heh

Just finished this as 70 PLD in hybrid dd gear.
Popped a sneak oil, clicked gate.
Ran back and provoked jack of cups.
By the time the battle was over, the others had despawned, Jack was dead and I got CS.

No immediate danger, bar the one time he silenced me.

Easily done :)

idk what really happened we did this w/ 2 75 blm and a 75 whm things went bad when whm woke up and benediction. So we zoned walked out door zoned healed. Came back in just the 2 blm and the Nm aggro'd i thought it was normal nm that popped there but it was the nm from the battle so me and other blm fought killed and won.
I know.. another rdm solo
# Oct 07 2007 at 1:27 AM Rating: Decent
Solo'ed this as lv64 rdm/blm. First I cleared the normal mobs guarding the room. Then after casting sneak, I popped the NMs. Then I pulled from max range using bow and they don't link, so no idea why others bother with summoner subjob.

Anyways, I pulled the BLM one since I didn't want to deal with curing itself or benediction. And instead of other rdm's strategy of nuke->sleep->nuke and so on, I instead melee it with en-whatever spells, and Sleep2 whenever my stoneskin and blink went down. Took me awhile to kill it and the other NMs de-popped by the end of the battle. I didn't need to convert.
so....

# May 06 2007 at 2:25 AM Rating: Decent
If you dont have much help, this is what you need to do. All you need to do is kill two maximum. Pull one away from others with sneak on. DO NOT USE MAGIC, they aggro to magic. Kill it. (Let others despawn) Check door. It will not let you in. So zone and come back. Kill another one. Let them despawn. Now TOTAL you killed 2. Check door and then NOW you get CS.
Nm fight
# May 20 2007 at 8:05 AM Rating: Decent
I've just solo'd this as a level 74 blm/rdm on my second try. You only need to kill one cardian, just make sure the others depop before you kill it (as mentioned already below) or you won't get the cs.

I chose the Jack of Coins (rdm) and despite having a high magic resist he went down pretty easily. Kept stoneskin up and used the sleep > nuke > sleep > nuke method to bring him down. Manafonted near the end to save me having to rest for mp again.

Just make sure you keep him silenced, and /rdm for dispel will help as the regen these things cast on themselves is pretty strong.

Also don't pull him back too near the cracked wall to kill him or the seven's on the other side will start curing him. Doing that was the reason i died first time round. I also subbed whm first time, so by the time i reraised the cardian has cast regen on himself, got all his health back and depopped.

Hey, the guide is a bit sketchy so cnce your in the Central Ruins, go in and to get to the 3mage door:

Take a right as soon as you can and go into the tunnel to a small room.
Check The Cracked Wall and enter.
You will come to a fork, hug the wall to the right from here, you will come to another fork very soon (straight on or left) so carry straight on.

The Next fork you come to, you can either go left or forward. Go left (which is the South-Most path) this will take you on for a while. You will then start to head north Parallel to a different style of wall, there will be a gap in it soon to the left, go through.

This will lead you up some steps to a door, check the door and enter. This will lead you into a big room (weapons, gobs and bombs around here so be ready), keep heading forward and you will come to another crack in the wall. Go through.

Follow this around and you will come into another big room, the 3Mage door is on the North wall of the room (Hug the left wall round if your unsure). If you don't have the key get your mages on the spots and it will open.

Wlak through, the East and West openings lead to the same place in the first circular room, also you can walk through the walls, they are not selectable.

The next room has lots of skeletons and bats. Take the North Western most room to get to Toraimarai Canal (The room will have a Door with Toraimarai Canal written on it to select).

And your there! This link will alos be most helpful

Good luck!

Did this today with rdm64 (me) and whm64 and a lvl50 NPC on fierce attacker. Very easy really, the despawn trick does work. We carby pulled the rdm jack cardian to the bigger room with the 7 8 n 9's and dou'd it there. It was silenced through its 2hr and we didn't have that much of a problem even with the lower cardians curing it. Just before killing it the whm disengaged and checked the other room reporting that the others had despawned. After it was dead, checked the door, putting snk back on as a precaution, and got the c/s. The toraimorai (sp?) canal part was easy, we even hung around and dou'd a ton of canal pugs, fallen knights and Lichs for kicks. sleep nuked a coupld of cutlass scorps too just for kicks.

Neither of us had a melee heavy set up, just regular gear AF and such. The cardian we killed gave us aprox EM xp so we think it was lvl 64.

looked forward to fighting the jack Cardians for ages and it was a lot of fun.

hope this helps!
man that sucked :P

rofl, it took us 3 times
first time, the DRG hit the door on acident
he died, we all lived :P
2nd time, i used shield bash, wow i wasnt thinking >.>
DRG and BLM died (DRG got escaped and then died, so he was dead outside lol)
3rd time, we got our RDM to pull with arrow, pulled the Coin (RDM) and we killed to fast, so we pulled a 2nd the PLD one and started to hack away, well we pwnd it and when it was dead we noticed the other 2 were gone, wewt, but we won and it was great

I sneaked myself (59 Thf at the time)
and Hit the door. I had "Mike" (59 NIN at the time) Voke it.
We were kidding around the 1st time and he died... I fleed to zone.
Anwho, we busted out NPC to make it interesting and owned this thing.

I know that Alla lists these mobs as non aggro, but they aggroed me. I put sneak on and clicked the door. The 4 cardians appeared and did not attack right away... I took about 4 steps back and went to summon carby to do a carby pull. As soon as I finished summoning carby (sneak was still on) all 4 of them attacked me and I didn't stand a chance.

2nd time I pulled with an arrow and everything was just fine. So I think that these might have a magic aggro up to a short distance. Just fyi.

I am currently level 66 brd and I really want to get this mission done. If anyone on the Sylph server wants to do this mission with me, I really just need help with the killing the cardian part. I would be so so grateful! I am ready to do this part of the mission, I just don't think I can solo it or I would! I put a message on the Sylph server board but nobody responded who needs this mission done. If you help me out I'll be your best friend! lol :) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me out ;;

I think this information is a bit outdated. I just got rank 6 and checked this to see if I could solo it or anything.

Anyway, I check to see if I have the Southwestern Star Charm, but I don't. I skipped 3-2. I go to the Orastery and get the cutscene and the NPC gave me the charm right there.

This happen with anyone else?

the southwestern star charm is the charm needed to spawn the 4 cardians, the portal charm
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=5479
is the item you need to open the 3 mage gate by yourself.
Edit: I forgot to answer the question at the end, yes, this happens to everyone else.

Yeah they updated it so you can now go solo thorough the door instead of relying of finding people with 2 other jobs.

The Door will not open
# Feb 07 2006 at 9:19 PM Rating: Decent
I tried 6-1 yesterday for the second time and had the same problem as I did with the first. We get done killing the Jack wait for the despawn, I run to the door click on it and I get " The door will not open even with the southwestern star charm a mysterious force is interfering" This is truely aggrevating especially after checking so carefully that hit all the right places and talked to all the right people and got all the right stuff. Anyone have any Ideas?

Seeker is right, the others have to despawn BEFORE you finish off the one you're fighting. If you kill it first, you're going to have to pull another one out of the pile if you don't want to have to pop them again.
RE: The Door will not open
# Feb 21 2006 at 8:26 PM Rating: Good
I think the problem, from the way you say it, is that you're killing Jack THEN waiting for despawn.

Let them despawn first then finish off the one you're fighting, I think otherwise the game thinks that you didn't kill any.

i dont think its so much the game doesnt think you killed any as the game knows you only killed one. Whereas if you wait for the others to despawn, then kill the jack, it checks after its dead to see whats left, sees nothing left and assumes you killed them all.

Lol, me (75rdm) and my friend alihassan (72bst) went to duo this. We sneaked up, hit the door to spawn them, then he stuck CC ultimate snipperz! on the rdm. Carrie took it really really low and would have killed it if it hadn't been so chainspell buff happy.

The other 3 despawned as CC was beatzing the rdm, so when she died, we stepped in, beatz left, beatz right, last 10% taken off.

Fun.
