Walkthrough

Talk to Maat at level 61+ to receive this quest.

He will give you four random clues from the list below. Trade a Kindred's Seal to the people you have been assigned and they will each in turn give you a different strange stone. (key item) Return to Maat when you have collected all four stones.

As plenty of other people noticed, this list is the list found on Mystery Tour. The author of Mystery Tour is Japanese, and therefore plays the Japanese version fo the game. All the information he has on that site has been translated from the Japanese version, and therefore it does not always quite match the English translation. (That and his English, while good, isn't perfect, so some things come out ackward.)

Anyway, I've got a new list that's based on posts in this forum and the clues I have. Entries not translated from the Mystery Tour version are left in italics.

I'm not 100% sure on all the entries, because I haven't actually completed this quest yet and I can only test my own four clues. :)

This should read "A girl who thinks she can never be as good as her sister."

I got the quest today. the other 3 clues seemed to match this re-translation.

I'm looking for "A young man looking for a job where they're not too rough with him"

It's a San D'orian.

I admit, I knew the other three off the bat, but this one i'm stumped.

I'm guessing that it's either Brifalion or Sheridan.

I was correct it was Sheridan. This will be updated in tonights update :)

RE: Can't find ><

As near as i can tell, it looks like there's only 8 NPC's in each area that are part of this (well, except the Mhuara/Selbina where it's 4/4). This is just an observation from doing it myself and helping a few LS members do theirs, so i may be wrong, but that's what it looks like to me anyway.

So if it's not word-for-word, try to fit your clue to one of the others as best you can. In your case i'd try Win.Woods Manustery H-10 Boizo-Naizo. If that's not it, then there's only 2 other males in the list above.

It looks extremely easy when looking at the walkthrough of it, and it is, but imagine how IMPOSSIBLY hard it would be if you didn't have the walkthrough. It seems evilly hard to me... You could be looking for about any NPC... and have absolutely no idea where it is or what your clues are hinting at...

The clues are so vauge and there are so many NPC's in the game, there is no possible way you would know where to go for all of any 4 given clues.

"The clues are so vauge and there are so many NPC's in the game, there is no possible way you would know where to go for all of any 4 given clues."

Well actualyl technically im pretty sure all of these NPCs are involved in garden-variety queswts too. So pretty much everybody on that list you should have at some point become familiar with the little bit of info he gives as a clue *IF* you had already done the quest for them.

So clearly the design concept here is that by the time you level 65, you should have max fame and done all the quests and then you search your memory banks for the NPCs that match the clue based ont eh previous cutscenes and quests. Its a nifty way of tying-in all the side quests for fame with the central bit of the game, but of course in practice everybody ends up using the walkthrough. I myself just go the quest and for a challenge i searched my memory banks for the answers before reading the walkthrough (having nitced long ago that the people on the list pretty much all were involved in quests, since im a "do every quest for fun"-type guy) and I was only able to easily puzzle out 2 of 4 even though im pretty sure i did, at some point the quests involving those two other people. This quest still must have been incredibly hard for the first people to do it unless you have a photographic memory for quest text, but you can clearly see the designers intentions..

no way! I read the first san d'orian ones and I knew the npc's right away!

Admittedly I was alot more clueless on the Bastok and others, since sandy is my hometown, but a few hours talking to npc's would prolly do this quest in. And I kinda prefer talking to npc's than pc's sometimes...

PLD's Testimony is dropped by the following PLD mobs that I know of: Darksteel Quadav in Beadeaux, Orcish Protector in Monastic Cavern, Antican Legatus in Quicksand Caves, and Antican Antisignus in Quicksand Caves.

If you skill-up/coffer hunt in Beaudeax, you should find quite a few of these. -.^
