Well to answer my own question... none what so ever. I took my no fame lev 13rmd to jeuno and turned in 50 seals to get the... comet i think it was... and the took him to Giddeus to do the Treasure and Tribulations BCNM 50. Well i picked wrong, but that isn't important. No fame is needed to do the BCNM quests. Hope this helps out.

Broken orbs (i.e. ones you have used and have lost the BCNM) can be traded back to Shami for a small amount of Jeuno fame.

ok question as a lv70 rng I have done more than my fair share of BCNM's all lv40 cap ones. I have killed thoughs stupid worms so many times its not even funny. As I look through this site about the orbs there is no info on the 99 kindered seal BCNM I do relize this is a acomplishment just to have 99 of them really but I am just crious as to what drops and what the party set up how many ppl allowed and what not is there anyone out there with info on this BCNM? If so please elaberate I am very crious about this and don't really feel a need to trade 99 of the 120ish I have to do this just to die or get items that are usless and worthless (doubt that but possable) any info would be appresiated

can an alliance take part in a bcnm? or does it restrict you to a party of six?

thanks in advance, im gonna try bcnm 20's with my ls and i need to know this. either way i suppose would be good actually...we could just have multiple parties doing runs....well, answer or not, thanks anyways!
RE: .
# Jan 26 2005 at 12:07 PM Rating: Decent
each BCNM is different i know the Horlais Peak BCNM 20 "Wings oof Fury" restricts your to three members....

Usual set up for that includes:
BST/ any sub as long as they have a high charisma
any DD main/ with a sub to help DD also
BLM/WHM to sleep, nuke, and heal

you'll want to go in... and fight the smaller of the two mobs....the bst will try to charm ASAP....use the small mob to attack the large mob....kill it off by teaming up on it....then release the small mob(if it's still alive) and finish it off

The guy you get the orbs from is in Port Jeuno @ H-8 named Shami. He's a beer-gutted Hume that looks somewhat like a sailor. He gives all orbs available with the correct trade-in and explains what trade-ins give what orbs.

A note on BCNM protocol... while it's true what it says here that only one person needs to have an orb to get into the battle, it's pretty much expected that if you want to share in the treasure you'll bring your own orb. Generally people leave time to do the fight as many times as there are orbs in the party.

This isn't obvious from the description, but it makes sense. Orbs are hard to earn, and it's not fair to try to collect treasure on someone else's orb without contributing your own.
Orb?

This is probably a stupid question, but i ran around all day looking for the guy to get the orb from and could not find him. Could someone please tell me where i can find him. Thank you. I am looking to get the Star Orb for the BCNM 40 fight. Your help would be much appreciated. thank you

He'll be on the left wall, on the main road in port, just before the "tent" that covers the AH entrance.

Ok i have a theory, someone hopefull can help me with this. I know the queen said that it is possible to bcnm40 with 6 bst's, but the way i see it you could probably pull it off with just one or 2 beasts, i would suggest 2 at the least though. The way i see it (This is probably horribly incorect) is that you can come into the arena, i suggest 2 bsts (at the least) a brd, 2 healers and a tank. It may be a boaring way to do it, but it may work. Ok the bsts go in first followd closly by the brd, bsts grab there 2 white ones, Brd sleeps the rest of em of em (Except the black one (forgot the name)) while at the same the the bsts have there white ones attack the black one. This should grab the agro from the brd and place it on the white ones. Now is where it gets boering, the healers mainly just heal the brd, the tank is here for precaution, dosent do any attacking cause he would probably take the agro from the white ones. See now is just sitting and watching the mobs beat each other down. As soon as a white one dies, grab another, and if they kill the black one, turn the 2 white ones on the other white ones. In the end you will only have to kill one white one and i am pretty sure you can handle that. :P

If you loose it still keeps its name and you still have it, but if u try to trade it to the BC it says "the orb is cracked and the monster has escaped" and you cannot enter.
Spelling Errors
# Jul 09 2004 at 9:10 AM Rating: Decent
The kindred seal orbs are "Clotho" "Lachesis" and "Atropos" orbs, named after the 3 fates.

You can confirm the spellings in the recent update notes BCNM section: http://www.playonline.com/comnewsus/040629fg5rh3.html

This is correct, and the new alliance BCNM orb is the Themis orb and costs 99 kindred seals. Themis was the mother of Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos.

Does the orb change in any way once it is used? Does only the battlefield say the orb is bad? I used one last night and it didnt change at all, we completed the run.

I'm in the LS: BCNMassassins on Ramuh, and have done a fair share of research on Burning Circle Notorious Monsters and here is what I can tell you.

1- This is a great way to get to make good amounts of gil (150k-500k+).

2- Each BC battle is different with a specific party setup that is ideal for each.

3- Some of the BCNM's are not worth fighting... just save your seals and do a higher one.

Now to ellaborate...

Beastmen Seals drop off many of the mobs that you will defeat as you level your jobs. I think I reached my first stack of 99 at PLD40ish/WAR30/MNK15. It seems that the best way to gain seals is to level a new job, as you seem to build them up more frequently at lower levels. In my opinion, It's best to save these until you reach at least level 40+. Before you do a BCNM, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! Otherwise you will waste your hard earned seals. Make sure you know what party is ideal. For example, the most ideal setup for BC40 at Balga's Dias seems to be 1 BRD, 2 Healers, 2 Damage Dealers, and 1 Tank... there are of course variations (and supposedly you can go in with 6BST's), yet the more experienced you are at a particular BCNM the easier and more flexible it will be. However, some jobs are useless in a particular BCNM battle, some have minimal, and seemingly insignificant roles.

These battles are great for making good gil, but not as a sole means of income... it just takes too long to save up the seals. I find it best to go when you and some equally experienced/skilled friends (Linkshell) ALL have an orb, and you all can put in your orbs. There are a few methods of distributing loot: 1- sell the items that drop, and pool the gil with everyone getting an even share; 2- you keep all the items from your orb, 3- you lot. I find pooling to be the best method because you may have a bad run, where everyone dies, and the orb is lost, that orb holder shouldn't have to lose out, further it's a team effort. I have found that many people for Static/Perma Parties for BCNM's and go only when everyone has orbs.

As far as which BCNM's are worthwhile, this is entirely relative. Since I believe that it is best to pool loot, and not do BCNM's for items (sell, get your share, and buy the item if you want it), there are some BC's that I won't do. Again, this is just my opinion, but unless you just want to do all the BCNM's, BC20, BC30, and BC50 don't seem to be worth the seals, I would stick with BC40 and BC60 based on the dropped items, obviously this will vary from server to server.

Here are some basics I left out and answers to some of the questions here...

-No orbs are not stackable. They RARE EX, I don't think you can even have more than one per character. and once you use it, you cannot use it again.

-It doesnt really make sense to get orbs before you have a party together, I've spent 5hrs setting up a BC event, only to watch everyone back out at the last minute.

-You can fight any BCNM at any level as long as someone has an appropriate orb (though it's probably not a good idea to try BC60 at level 40.. duh).

-You will just get a level restriction (ie. BC 20 = Level capped at 20... your job abilities, spells, weapon skills, and equipment over level 20 are useless). It is a very good idea to get as much equipment as possible for the level you will be restricted to.

-Always bring food! These battles can last up to 30 minutes, you need all the help and boosts u can get.

In closing, remember FFXI is a only a game, don't make it out to be more than that. We all invest plenty of precious time into our characters, however, if you will be upset in losing something that you have invested time into, this game, and many things in real life really aren't for you. Patience!!! The goal and idea is to have fun... I have fun leveling, and in deleveling, it's all part of the game. It was worth seeing a Behemoth (for the 2 seconds that I got to behold it) in Behemoth's Dominion, running to Jeuno at level 8, etc, etc, etc. Please, just go out and enjoy yourself, and help others do the same.

Please feel free to contact me if you need to with any questions at Nikaiya@hotmail.com

Once you get one ord can you use it over and over or do you need to keep 'buying' more?

Also does everyone need a ord in order to do the BCNM or just one person in PT?

With the level caps (ie Comet Ord level 50) do you de-level for the BCNM if you are over level 50?
