Summary

Walkthrough

You must first complete Gullible's Travels and Even More Guillible's Travels.

Once you have received the scent from Even More Gullible's Travels, talk to the Opo-opo on the airship dock (Lulupp), then talk to Vuih Stecoppah. You must trade the following items to the corresponding Opo-opos in the correct order:

1. Lulupp - Bkn. Mithran Rod (Port Windurst/Fish.Guild)
2. Kukupp - Workbench (Woodworking/Amateur)
3. Mumupp - Ten of Coins (Outer Horutoto Ruins Mob:Ten of Coins)
4. Roropp - Sands of Silence (Castle Zvahl Baileys Mob:Demon Magistrate, Demon Chancellor)
5. Popopp - Wandering Bulb (FeiYin Mob:Utukku)
6. Bubupp - Giant Fish Bones (Temple of Uggalepih Mob:Tonberry Stalker)
7. Tatapp - Blackened Toad (Sea Serpent Grotto Mob:Brook Sahagin)
8. Kakapp - Wyvern Skull (Ifrits Cauldron Mob:Hurricane Wyvern)
9. Lalapp - Ancient Salt (Quicksand Caves Mob:Sand Digger)
10. Nenepp - Lucky Egg (The Boyahda Tree Mob:Knight Crawler)
The last 5 items (except Blackened Toad) on this list are Rare/Ex, so you can not purchase them from Auction House.

If you trade the correct items in order, the Opo-opos will make you their king and you will receive the Opo-opo Crown.

I like talking to the natives in Kazham with the smell on. The kitty that lets you out of the airship dock, etc.

Funny stuff :)

OK, I accidentally washed the scent off before getting the Opo-Opo crown quest... I fought all three leeches solo to reset the flowers (75BLM Sleep > Nuke > Sleep) --- however, now only ONE of the flowers will give me nectar, although ALL THREE will spew blue crap on me... none of the monkeys will love me...

what am I doing wrong? any help would be great, just wasted 3hrs traveling the globe for nothing.

EDIT -- I had to deafeat each leech twice for some reason... but all is ok now.

me and a friend are having some trouble getting our hands on the broken rod, does anyone have any info on an effective way to break one? an area and type of bait would be appreciated
RE: broken rods
# May 26 2005 at 2:43 AM Rating: Decent
best way is use some meat balls on the ferry. You wana try and catch fish don't just hit enter. When you catch it you will get a "to much for this rod" message and... SNAP! good luck. Higher fishing skill will help.
what if you trade the wrong order?

I goofed up and traded the blackened toad before the fish bones, so my order is ruined. Does that mean I start over fromt he workbench? Or do I have to talk to an NPC to reset what I traded. I'm fairly certain the items are lost, which is no big deal since they weren't the EX ones, but I don't want to go trading my EX ones now and losing them because I didn't reset the quest or something. Just checking.

[li]buy a Bkn. Mithran Fishing Rod from AH or bazaar

Do these have to be traded at one time or can you span it out over time?

Like, say I traded the first items I could buy off the AH and then waited until i got the other ones and then went back and traded them at another date.

just a short info when you trade the last item, Lucky Egg:

the monkey "Nenepp" is behind a house, you have to wait until he moves towards you and then trade quickly. if you get the message "you cannot obtain the bunch of pamamas. try sorting your inventory and trade again" then make sure to get 4 free slots in your inventory, as you will receive 3x 1 pamama and the crown :)
    Dialogue Options
    # Mar 09 2005 at 8:43 AM Rating: Decent
One thing I wasn't expecting when doing this quest were the dialogue option boxes at the start and end since no one mentions them in guides. At the start you are given the option of Opo? or ... That one was a bit obvious at least in activating the quest (Opo?). But at the end while the BST Mithra has a discussion with the Opo Opos, you are given the option of Opo Opo or Opi Opi. I chose Opo Opo and recieved the crown, but does anyone know what happens if you chose Opi Opi?

I just started this quest, when you first talk to Lulupp, Vuih says "If an Opo-opo lower than themselves gets a present beforrre they do, they'll go all "Opi-opi!""

    I'm guessing it means mad?

    Level Minimum Adjustment?

I'm not sure if the level requirements of 65 are to wear the crown, but it is most definately not what level you can flag it at. I will send an email explaining this also ^^. But in the meantime...

I was in Kazham LFG as my 29 blm (main is 57 rdm) fishing off the docks and decided to talk to the Opo-Opo. I had finished Even More Gullible's Travels a few days before and I was amused by the responces I was getting from Mithras and Opo-Opo. So I decided to talk to the one on the docks between fishing casts. I was amused to find out that I had just unlocked the quest!
    RE: Level Minimum Adjustment?
    # Mar 09 2005 at 8:37 AM Rating: Decent
I think they just list 65 as the minimum since that is the level of the crown. Not all, but most quests can be unlocked by even a lvl 1 provided they have enough fame.

It just seemed sort of confusing reading that. I had thought that maybe the 'minimum level' was based on the equipable level of the crown since quest like Signed in Blood (granting level 29 equipment) were listed as minimum level requirment of 1.

Anyway, I'm happy to clear space in my inventory by trading some of these items in.

Yes, I would also like to know exactly how one can find out the items and the sequence other than by desperate trial and error! If anyone knows, please speak up!

I only found this: you can talk to Magriffon and he will give different replies most of the time. One word stands out. For example he says furnishing; a reference to the workbench? Or another: one of my cards -- ten of coins? I tried talking with the opo-opos and asking Magriffon right afterwards. Unfortunately he does not give a direct hint which item goes to whom. And the hints are vague at best. Furthermore, Vuih Steccopah (quest giver) is nowhere to be found.

I find this very frustrating! I am very grateful for that list. But I don't like quests that leave me completely in the dark....

    Order and items

One thing I always wondered about this is, "how the heck could you figure out the order AND the items without many frustrating boring trials if you didn't have a guide?"

Today, using wide scan in Kazham, I may have found a part of the answer. Maybe someone who knows more about wide scan than I do could explain it, but it seemed, when I did wide scan, the opo's appeared on it next to each other in the right order - Lulupp on top, followed by Kukupp, Mumupp, etc. on down to Nenepp.

The first item I know you're told to get (the cutscene when you first talk to Lulupp and get the quest), but I haven't found any hints on the others, I've just gone by this guide. So, I'm curious if anyone observed the same thing with wide scan, or if there is someone you can talk to about which items are needed?

The **** RDM asked me for 30k gil on first quest and 35k on second quest >.<

    I am rank 10 ; ;

Question --> do i have to trade all item at same time, or i can get some (in order) and trade them and later trade the others (in order)?

    # Dec 24 2004 at 5:36 AM Rating: Decent
Do the required items all have to be turned in at once, or can they be done seperately? I already turned in the Fishing Rod, but it will take me a few days to get the rest of the items.

Also, how are you supposed to know what the other items are to give to the Opo-opos without looking up the solution? When you talk the NPC, she only mentions what the first item is that needs to be given to the first Opo-opo.

I tried for like two hours last night, but I can't get the sands of silence to drop from the demons.

I've got everything but the skull & the sands. Everything else was simple except for the Fish bones. Those took like an hour. Everything else took 10-30 minutes. I went in with a DRK, DRG, WHM & RDM lv. 65-67. We were killing everything in sight.

Sands of silence is my only problem. Any help?

I was passing through not long ago getting coffer keys with LS and doing BLM AF2. Anyways we got 2 of these in maybe 10 tier 2 demons just on the way in. They can be bought on AH, 30k on my server, so don't worry about going to get them.

Everything is soloable, except the Wyvern Skull, you just have to be the right level for it. Wyvern Skull you need a PT for, as the wyverns are higher level than the max level in the game... (vt at 73).

Easily solo'd about 30 wyverns as a 75BLM/RDM. You don't need a party for this if your job is able to solo! At 75, they ranged from Even Match-Tough, which isn't too bad for sleep/nuke. Took about four spells to kill each one.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 18 2004 at 5:33 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I solo'd the wyverns as 73 RDM. Was 200 xp a pop (before the xp patch, might be more now). BLM can do it too but it would be a little harder. Other jobs should probably bring a pt. :)

Ok for sand diggers, you have to go to the area where rank 8 for bastok took place (was just a cut scene i think) there is a big hole in the ground, so drop thru and there are 4 spawns. Took me ~3-4 hr for two drops and we had a thf knife ><; ( the entreance is west altep, go as far and as south as possible and you will go off the map)

I had a hard time with these till thf took us there. Con ep-em at 65, i could solo all as galka bard
