Summary

Mamaulabion would like you to bring him any "thuper-dee-duper, overflowing with thspethial power itemth" you happen to come across in your travels. However, he was not able to provide you with any details on their whereabouts.

Walkthrough

Talk to Mamaulabion, a (creepy) Elvaan standing near the Norg Auction House to flag this quest.

What Mamaulabion wants is the following:

Each item can be obtained by exchanging the whisper given when defeating the uncapped prime avatars. You must trade the items one at a time to Mamaulabion, and he will remember which items you have already traded, so you do not have to keep them in your inventory. Upon giving him the last item, he will ask you to wait before returning to him for the reward (until 12:00am Japanese Standard Time).

He will give you the Evoker's Ring for your efforts, and you will no longer be able to obtain those above items if you defeat the avatars again.

Repeatable?

I quit a long time ago and tossed this ring along with the rest of my gear. I recently came back and was wondering if anyone has ever tried to get this ring a second time. (Assuming you tossed the ring as well) It seems to me like I'm screwed. Anyone?

I currently have all my avatars (except Diabolos, for some reason, just never got around to it), including the wolf. I am now trying to get the Evoker's Ring via Mama Mia quest. I am turning in whisper of ice and wind tonight for items 5 & 6 (Rust B Gone and Bubbly Water), and have the Ancients' Key to go. From what I read below, I assume (and please correct me/advise me if wrong):

a) Having obtained the Moon Bauble once, if I want to fight Fenrir again, I do NOT have to go through the 6 avatar fights for whispers again. I can just ask for a Bauble.

b) This also applies if I die in the Fenrir fight and want to redo it at a later time (more than 24 hours); I just keep asking for Baubles as needed.

c) I can head down to Norg, get the Mama Mia quest, and start turning in items to free up inventory space. When I finally get the Ancients' Key, I turn it in, wait for some indeterminate time (I presume a RL day???), and finally get the Evoker's Ring.

d) Once I get the Evoker's Ring, the effects of + summoning skill will be communicated to me by either a choir of angels or a UFO....

Thanks all.

a) You do not need to go through all the fights again once you obtain Fenrir to fight Fenrir again, just get another Moon Bauble just like getting a Fork for other Avatar fights.

b)You can die as many times as you want too, you will still have the Moon Bauble in Key items even if you die in less then 24 hours, even 1 minute after your kicked out of BC.

c) 1 RL day is plenty of time, 12AM JP time they say. And can turn in items as you get them.

d) The +SMN skill will simply add to your existing skill, past cap even.

auto-organize your inventory.
# Apr 16 2007 at 10:20 PM Rating: Decent
When you have all of these items in your list, All 7. You might want to hit Auto-Organize in your inventory. As many of you might experience, the items all go to the bottom, but don't freak out when you realize the Ancients' Key isn't @ the bottom of the list. You didn't delete it! It went to the top!

Trial by Fire: Egil's Torch
Trial by Earth: Desert Light
Trial by Water: Eye of Nept
Trial by Wind: Bubbly Water
Trial by Ice: Rust 'B' Gone
Trial by Lightning: Elder Branch
Guidance of the Moon: Ancients' Key

I had the same problem, I came here and counted it out and couldn't find my key @ the bottom with the rest. I was getting quite upset until I realized it was a *KEY*. Just like every other key, it goes to the top of the list. I'm just posting this so other's won't get confused about this either. ^^

I'm on my way to turn in the items for the quest finish, now.

Are the quest items 6 out of a list of 7 or you have to trade all seven of them?

'coz the description isn't clear. Sometimes is says you need just the 6 items from elemental avatars, sometimes it says you also need Fenrir's Ancients' Key.

Do you need 6 out of 7 possible or you need all 7 of them?

You need all 7 from the list above in the description of the quest, the list on the left is missing the Ancient's Key.

Permit me to clairify something. Once you have completed The Moonlit Path, you don't need to fight avatars for whispers to get a new Bauble. You only have to collect the whispers once.

Yep, you only need to get the whispers once for Fenrir quest. Then you can get it as if you were getting a tuning fork.

These items are from Final Fantasy I, II, III, IV, V, VI, and VII.

Final Fantasy I: Bubbly Water (After catching a faerie in a bottle, she granted you this item which allowed you to breathe underwater and fight the Kraken in the Sunken Palace)

Final Fantasy II: Egil's Torch (You needed it to hold Sunfire to destroy the Dreadnought warship)

Final Fantasy III: Eye of Nept (You needed to recover the eye of the Sea Dragon Nept's statue to appease him)

Final Fantasy IV: Desert Light (This was the medicine guarded by the Antlion that Edward/Gilbert took you to get to cure Rosa)

Final Fantasy V: Elder Branch (You used this item to gain access to the Ancient Forest)

Final Fantavy VI: Rust 'B' Gone (You used this in the World of Ruin to get past a stuck door in Zozo to get Cyan)

Final Fantasy VII: Ancients' Key (You found this on the ocean floor with the submarine and used it to play the music box displaying how the white materia worked)

After you trade in the seven items the npc makes you wait a period of time before your reward, anyone have a estimate of how long?

By the way you have to trade them one by one to him. So you don't have to have all the items at one.

basically, yes once you get all the whispers and trade them for the required items, you do have to fight all them again to get moon bauble if you haven't got one already, you can get a moon bauble again once a day at 12:00 midnight time in Japan when there servers reset everything that's 11AM EST that is if you have beaten fenrir already, so if you trade all those items to that guy, you could actually get them in 1hr if you give him the items at say 10am, cause that's when the timers reset in the servers, so technically you don't have to wait a full day. it's like the mini avatar battles. hope this helps^^

RE: One at a time?

You can turn in the items one at a time as you get them. But dont get all excited yet, after turning in the 7th and final item you must wait for your reward. I'm guessing 1 RL day, but it may be a few hours. I just turned in my last item, the wait begins...

I just wanted to thank Allakhazam, or whoever submitted this quest, for translating the text. That was the most horrid bit of speech I have seen in this game...

"Rare goodieth and obthcure odditieth from around the globe can be found in thith treathure trove we call Norg..."

He has the distinct plaesure of replacing Chamama as #1 on my "NPC's I'd most like to kill, revive, then kill again." list.

hah hah, just talked to a moblin in windurst today, he's a vendor for a morvapolis (the CoP area). although it's not avaliable to players yet he is there, and he's got quite the accent, making taruspeak (let alone lisp) pale in comparison. if you hate lisping tarus, you'll really hate these guys.

honestly... this is a RPG, the npcs will play out their vocalisms... perhaps this isn't the MMORPG for some people? ^^

No kidding, at the first sentence I was ready to cry, and then he drones on and on with that damn lisp, it is bad enough to hear a person speak with one, but to read it will drive you insane.

I am glad I have no ambition to become a summoner because I don't know if I will ever speak to that guy again.

Purely speculation, but perhaps those new staffs showing up at AH with the damage reduction, healing bonus, etc? Those seem too good and too expensive to just come from one avatar fight, this source would make sense...
RE: Reward?
# May 07 2005 at 12:16 AM Rating: Decent
If you mean the items such as the Earth Staff and the Light Staff then I can verify that they DO NOT come from this quest. The Elemental Staves are produced through High Level Woodworking. (70's I believe)
