Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Star Orb, which is obtained by trading 40 Beastmen's Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Star Orb to the Burning Circle inside Waughroon Shrine and choose to enter the battle The Worm's Turn.

Up to 6 people may enter and you will all receive a level 40 restriction. You have 30 minutes to win. You will fight Flayer Franz & 15 Flesh Eaters. Since they are worms, they are immobile, but unlike the other two BCNMs you have twice as many enemies to fight.

Both Flayer Franz & the Flesh Eaters can cast Stonega II, so it's advised to have a Bard use Horde Lullaby & Earth Carol constantly, as well as have a Black Mage use Sleepga to limit the amount of active worms.

i was thinking of a set up for this BCNM:

RNG/NIN(me)
NIN/WAR
BRD/NIN
BLM/WHM
WHM/SMN
SMN/WHM

basically BLM ES>>Sleepga.
BRD buffs
RNG pwns
WHM heals
SMN buffs/heals/pwns
and NIN stands there looking pretty ^^

some1 /t me if that sound decent...

Well I just have to say this is the easiest BCNM i have done yet. I have gone in with two different PT's and both times we came out 6/6. Set up was BLM X 5 and WHM with Erase. Just sneak everyone and buff at start then run in to edge of the hill. BLM's then nuke -aga spells directed at flayer which end up hitting every worm in the room. Within a few rounds of -aga spells all worms die and you just left with Flayer in the middle. Then all the focus turns on Flayer and you just nuke him till your out of MP. When out of MP run back and rest. The WHM's job is purely to heal and erase any Rasp or Bind effects from the BLM's. The only hard part which isn't even hard is just the first BLM to cast his -aga spells will be drawn in and heavily attacked. WHM must focus all attention to that one BLM at the begining to keep him alive. All in all a very easy fight. We dropped Utsemi: Ni 4 times and Erase and Phalanx a few times as well.

Last time we broke the record and got a time of 4:11 breaking the previous record by over a min! Thank-you to all the people in that party. The average time was around the 10 min mark. So to all the people who sleep the worms I must say that this method is far more effective and time saving.

just burned this with BLMx6.

basically, one blm went in, sleepga on flayer franz. we all focused on flayer utnil he was dead. then we all rested to full, sleepga on ONE SIDE of the worms, and -ga fest on the other side. when the one side was dead, -ga fest on the other.

2 deaths on first fight, one on second fight, none others. we are 5/5 (one person had no orb). we averaged 11 minutes per run. i got nemesis earring and fire spirit, then some other small drops.

well everyone,
this is to give a post-nerf update on this BCNM, from someone who has done it more times than I can count, both post and pre-patch. Tonight myself and 3 other BLM's went out to Palborough Mines to tackle this BCNM. We were thinking that it could be done with 4 BLM/WHM since we have all done this BCNM a ton of times before, as the 3 other BLM in the party are my best friends and linkshell members for about a year now. We were thinking 50/50 chance of dieing, but we were for it since there were not any other LS members on at the time.

If you want to know, yes we beat this with 4 BLM's (Kensword, Cherrysevenup, Cetralna, and Shortcakes). The first run was a little tougher than any other run, because Shortcakes was subbing THF because she was out farming... so 3 BLM/WHM and 1 BLM/THF can and did beat this with 20min. time.

This is the simple sleepga plan, sleepga everything, and then kill Flayer Franz and then rest to full and then [Full Attack!] the rest. Flayer Franz does start growing a resistance about 1/4 health left, whether or not this is from update or just because we were only 4, I am not sure. The last 1/4 goes slow, and MP starts running low. Aspir and barstonra are your friends here, and I was always on-cue with sleeping all the other Worms. We killed Franz and then rested up and attacked the front 7-8 worms at once, killing them fairly quickly, and then went to work on the back 7-8 worms after we rested again.

It is definetely not a race with 4 BLM's. The first time with Shortcakes subbing /THF we were at 22:36. The second time around Short went back to get us more drinks and to sub /WHM and we beat it in 20:21. The second time was alot less hassle though, alot easier. We did it a third time, but by then Omegak had logged in and he helped us out with the WHM duties. The third run was done in 15:16 with 5 people. None of these are close to our record of 5:46 with a 5 BLM/WHM, 1 WHM/BLM combo.
This BCNM is still easy and do-able with BLM's. And I prefer BLM over RNG, having done both ways, with both jobs. As a RNG I spend alot of money on this BCNM between sushi and arrows, plus it just takes longer. so, 5BLM 1WHM is still the best way to go!!

First round, drops were Utsusemi:Ni, Peridot, Gold Beastcoin, Black Pearl, Turquoise, and Fire Spirit Pact.

Second Round: Utsusemi:Ni, Gold Beastcoin, Phalanx, Nemesis Earring, and some other stuff

Third round: only Nemesis Earring was worth anything really good.

Sorry, this message was longer than I wanted it to be, Just wanted to let you know that it is possible to do it with 4 BLM although, our gear is above average, and we have done it many times before. But it is also nice to split the profits 4-ways instead of 6-ways!

__________________________________________________________
EDIT: Ok did this 4 more times tonight with 4 BLM/WHM, (Shortcakes, Cherrysevenup, Cetralna, and myself). FRanz does grow a resistance, but not bad (Fire2 dropped from 170 to 120, similar with other spells), and the other worms die too quickly to gauge if they grow a faster resistance.

We Went 4/4 and had a run of 11:04 which was 1:01 short of the record. Not bad for 4 ppl going into it. Drops included Erase, Nem earring x2, Utsusemi.

We even had a death on 2 of the runs, so 3 BLM/WHM can finish -aga the remaining worms after Franz is dead, and our record run had NO Manafonting either. Iceday is a nice day to do this on. Frost Blizzard2 and Blizzaga hurt.

I did this with me as BLM, a WHM, a RDM, and 3 RNGs.

Ideally, one Elem Seal + Sleepga at start puts all to sleep except the NM who continuously draws in the Rangers.

BLMs, don't forget to SNEAK or else it's DEATH!

The backup healer is a must because you can't have the WHM or RDM get drawn in at any point or there is danger that there will be a death. Two dedicated healers saves that from happening. The RDM is even able to use Convert and add even more MP for healing. This also saves any one healer from hate.

I'm thinking a SMN/WHM would work also and a little Blink-ga used against mobs that are weak to air, is probably an excellent way to make up for the lack of Protect II.

The BLM is a dedicated sleeper. Some few worms will wake up early and some will resist but it will be obvious to the BLM when it's time to recast cuz a whole slew of worms will wake up at the same time (and messages will says so).

The RNGs should work right to left after killing off the NM. This will allow the BLM to use Sleepga on the remaining group after the center-placeholder for Sleepga is gone(Flayer Franz). If you kill in the middle, the Sleepga will have to be cast on one of the edge mobs and will miss some of em. These worms will tend to cast Stonega II on the group and now the mages will have to heal all over the place and it's a real nuisance that you can avoid.

Always keep your timer up. We ran out of time once within a minute of finishing and that's just pointless. Even the WHM can start to Banish and melee if your timer tells you you're in danger of losing the whole fight 30 minutes later.

Some people say that the NM has been updated and is much harder to Sleep now post-update. I don't see that as a problem though since NM is going to be up all the time anyway. With this strategy you should be able to effectively win this fight every time. We did, except once.

A different day we tried it with several BLMs nuking instead of using ranged attacks and I have to say I would rather have a THF with an Archer's Knife using a ranged attack, than another BLM trying to be effective. The extra BLM is just going to use up his mp and be close to useless. He will still get his hits in though so it is ok to have him I guess.

After the NM is done and your group is relatively safe from mass-Stonega II, as BLM try to use Frost on each worm. It maks a huge difference and prob helps more than a Blizzaga Spell, though I love to cast Blizzaga. ^^

In closing, THIS is the best BCNM to try imo. Seals don't take too long to accumulate, the Spirit Torque is a guaranteed drop that goes for like 400k currently and is the light in every NINs corner that can afford it. Erase and Utsusemi: NI possibilites just add to the anticipation. In 6 attempts we got 2 Erase scrolls and generally I think Erase dropped like 35% of the time imo.

The Royal Jelly BCNM 40 was much easier but I got like 30k out of it. It only uses 3 people. It was a real waste of time really. Not one of us got any real money out of that one.

I haven't tried any other BCNMs so that's all I know.

Arranged a party to go do this deal.
4 x Blm
1 x Rng
1 x Whm (me)

I have done this Bcnm with 5blm/1whm, and 4blm/2whm and not lost once using the nuke -ga strategy.

these Blm's (rank 7-10!!) insist on doing the sleepga thing on all worms and kill franz first, even though I (Leader) tell them to nuke the hell out of Franz, all other worms would die shortly.

After 2 unsuccessful runs, and me not having reraise up, because I didnt expect such difficulties, I told all to save their orbs and that I would reimburse the 2 who lost their orbs with gil.

I'm sure the sleepga way works, but why drive to Boston from New York via Orlando, when you can catch a nonstop flight from point A to B in a fraction of the time.

The strategy i have in mind might not be a good one, but it is unproven as far as i know. What you need would be 2 blm/whm with capped elemental magic and dark magic skill and a brd/whm with as much chr and singing skill as possible. when you first go in, have the 2 blm use aeroga and brd begin ballad. then after aeroga, have brd cast horde lullaby, and blm sleepga as needed. then have the blm use aspir on different worms. then begin by doing the same thing over and over. i dont know of this would be a good strategy or not, but please reply your opinions on this setup. thanks in advance

I have done this bcmn with the traditional ranged attack aproch, but im interested in anyone actualy had sucsess with a melee oriented party? and what strategy they used? the only thing i can think of is blm's -ga flanz while the pld tanks it so he dosent get bashed by the other worms (cause as everyone who does this bcmn knows, being bound with the worms awake after being drawn in most likely means "totaly screwed ^^".

And would the pld be worth sacrafising a rng or blm? also i would only do this with a taru pld due to the higher int.

My LS had a couple of BLM's wanting to do this BCNM (me being one of them). We did it last night and went........... 7/7 !

Now, contrary to a few of these posts (and many alternate posts regarding Worm's Turn) we never even touched Sleepga. We had 4xBLM, 1xWHM and 1xRNG (picked up in Jeuno). We had originally planned to do only 6, one for each member but then another of our LS mates (RNG) wanted to come (which ended up perfect for the RNG who had to leave after the original six).

Our main strat was to enter BC, buff up (I did Ice Spikes in addition to Blink and Aquaveil, details later) and run to 'hump' and on cue word, start the -aga goodness. RNG used holy bolts (wonderful, btw...usually 75-90 damage with 15-25 added holy damage). All the BLM's centered -aga's on Flayer Franz, dead center, and were able to hit every single other worm. All of us had the same 'glitch', where our casting would finish with no animation, MP used up and no -aga animation but I can assure you after cycling through the worms via Tab, they were all taking damage. After 1-2 rounds of casting, normal animations resumed and the worms dropped..like..... flies? >.<

At any rate, I said earlier that I had cast Ice Spikes before the fight. Now I wouldn't say this is a must, but I can't tell you how many times I got drawn in, hit as I was running West and satisfied by the amount of 'Flesh Eater is Paralyzed' messages. I know, I know if we had slept the worms, getting hit by them wouldn't have been an issue. Well, in all honesty the damage from the Flesh Eaters was negligible for our PT and the wonderful WHM paying attention helped quite a bit as well. Out of all the runs we had only 2 deaths, both on the last run; I know we were all tired by then but we still won the BCNM and everything went fine, otherwise.

As far as drops: there were many gems, Peridots, turqouise, sphene also 3-4 Strike Shields, Spirit Torques,Earth Mantles, 1 gold beastcoin, ABS-STR, Nemesis Earring, Fire Pact, Refresh, 2 Erase scrolls and one Utsusemi:Ni. We did /random for orb turns and some would laugh because all my rolls were 200 or less so I ended up 6th in line. Well the first 2 were all 'meh' drops, 3rd was the WHM who got an Erase scroll, 4th and 5th were so-so and then it was my turn ^^ Spirit Torque, Erase AND Utsusemi:NI also Strike Shield, Peridot and Earth Mantle. So needless to say I was very very happy. Sorry for the long post just had to put this here.

BTW, record before we went in was close to 8 minutes; First run, we beat it with a time of 7 minutes and 30 seconds and we consecutively beat our own records on each subsequent run. Best time was on my orb with a time of 6 minutes and 36 seconds /cheer

Did this yesterday as blm blm rng rng rng whm, we also had the sleepga problems on flayer and just casted it on the lessers (i coverd left, other blm took right).

Basicly what we did was blm sleepga, rng kill flayer asap then work on the rest one at a time going counter clockwise, worked realy good, even when the whm got drawn in and dies without reraise (XD) we managed to pull it off with only 4 people (another rng died shortly after, everyone used 2hrs), the only posible problem is being drawn in then bound with the worms awake...then your screwed.

we went 3/3, my drops were absorb-str, refresh, nemisis earing, spirit tourque, earth mantle (im keeping ^^)

We did this BCNM over the weekend, and we had the same trouble as stated above u can no longer cast sleepga on Flayer Flanz. U go into casting and then u just keep casting spell never going off. Although our setup was 3blm, 2rng, whm. We just had 1 blm sleep left and 1 blm sleep right and we went 5/6 this way. just be sure to keep up stonera and the couple worms in the back that don't get slept will not be able to do enought damage to kill any of u pty members so u should be fine. I've done the Worm's Turn BCNM before and won several times.

Today, it was very different.

None of the blms could cast sleepga on Flyer Franz... I understand Flyer Franz sometimes resist sleep. But this time blms just couldn't cast Sleepga on Flyer Franz. Our casting motion just freeze and casting never happened. We were able to cast sleepga on the other worms.

Another odd thing was that worms could pull us in, even though we were all of the way to the burning circle to avoid them.

The Sleepga problem was annoying. 2 blms couldn't cover all of the worms by sleeping standard worms on right and left side.

I'd like to see the strategy with this new addition...

Did it yesterday with RNGx3 BLMx2 WHM, we went 6/6 and only one death at all. I did it previously with 5 BLM + WHM and it was faster and easier (about 6 min per run), but the RNG setup is good too.

My drops: Utsusemi: Ni, Erase, Nemesis earring, Vile elixir, Peridot and Earth mantle.

I took My LS to do this today. first three runs we went RNG, BLM, BLM, BLM, BLM, WHM.. First run was scary we used the sleep and then nuke flayer strategy while rest of worms slept.. we had two deaths but won anyway. the two runs following we
had rng kill one worm at a time while we exchanged ga spells and sleegas on flayer franz then seemend to benifit us greatly. No close calls about it no deaths involved we went 2/2 like that.. After that our rng had to go So it was down to 5blms and a whm. Using same ga and sleep strategy we cleared the room rather fast and went nuts on franz ripping him apart.
Few of us got utsesemi ni scrolls a few got erase. Every drop was patterned around reciveing a nemisis earring and spirit torque regaurdless of anything else we did notice that these two items where 100%..

Did this BCNM with combos of 2 RNG 3 BLM 1 WHM and 3 RNG 2 BLM 1 WHM and we only went 1/5 out of pure luck anyway by attacking Franz first.

Anyway long story short party disbanded I didn't use my star orb so I decided to do it again today following Che and Taistyle's format of 5 x BLM 1 x WHM and needless to say went 6/6 and now I have Utsusemi:Ni and one lucky bastard got Ni and Erase. Please do not do this fight any other way for you will probably die. Thank you Che and Taistyle.

Good Lord, only 1 person on this page gets it. The ultimate setup is BLMx5 WHMx1. WHM doesn't even need Erase, just a good eye and Curaga. It's this simple:

BLMs -Aga Flayer Franz.

That's it. No frills. In about 2-3 -Agas from all the BLMs will have all the other Worms down. WHM can even land a hand with Banishga. After all the Flesh Eaters are dead, pop a juice and go apesh*t on Flayer Franz. I've NEVER had a single failure this way. It's especially easy when your WHM has Erase, since Flayer Franz enjoys Draw-In + Bind. If anyone dies, just Sleep Franz, Tractor the BLM, and have the WHM Raise, although this is rarely a concern. You crazies, all getting ~15 minutes, you can clear it in under 5 with this setup.

Forgot to mention, ABSOLUTELY, POSETIVELY, DO NOT KILL FLAYER FRANZ 1ST! He's at the very center, and that's the only point where you can hit every single worm. You don't even have to worry about his magic, you're a BLM. Draw-in isn't much of a concern, read above.

So I went in as a Whm/Blm with Rng/Nin Rng/Nin Blm/Whm Blm/Whm Blm/Whm and we didn't even come close to winning. Supposedly that's a good party setup, but it doesn't help that I didn't have Erase (why I was going) and nobody but me actually used Yagudo drinks. The sleepgas weren't planned well and I could have thought of much better ways to do it.

Basically, there was no planning. I guess the leader assumed it would be easy and didn't make specific plans for victory. How annoying. At least I didn't lose my orb.

Here was my setup and what we did.
RNG- Shoot the mobs ^^
RNG- Shoot the mobs ^^
BLM- Sleep
BLM- Nuke
BRD- Refresh + Prelude
WHM- Cure ^^

BRD wasnt there for sleep but for refresh.

2 BLM sleepga then nuke the ore out of Flayer while me and the other RNG were non stop with holy bolts, only problem we had was if someone got sucked in by Flayer.
Then after Flayer drops we ran back for full rest and then we go off on the worms this was the easiest BCNM I have done, besides 50 cap where I opened a chest and got a Astral Ring.

6/6 no @#%^ ups.

The easiest thing to do on "Your orb your drop" is to give whoevers orb it is the Item pool. SO only they get all the items.

The plan was simple, have one BLM ready to Cast Sleepga at all times, and only focus on that, don't let him nuke. If hes in the middle of castign and the worms wake up you're in a world of sh*t.

The other BLM nuke Flayer and I shot him to hell. Id keep shooting whilst BLM regenned MP for the leftovers. SO we were constantly damaging.

If you get pulled in run West.If the WHM has Erase already then you will be fine,as he can erase bind and you wont get battered.

I have news for the guy who asked about MNK's (a long time ago I realise), this BCNM is NOT for any melee class, if you try to hit Franz from up close you will die, he hits very hard.

RNGD and Magic onry. Still theres plenty of BCNM for close up melee classes to do :)

ok, went in as a bard/whm today...went bad, really bad. I think our leader had his strategy confused, cause it was me, 2 blms, a pld, a ranger, and...I think a drk. Yeah, we died the first time and timed out the second. My horde lullaby was near worthless though. barely enough radius to sleep 3 of them. How the heck am I supposed to help as a brd? Ah well, next time I'll just bring whm...more my style anyway (I quit brd at 40 cause I have learned to hate it. only went on request from one of the blms)

I just did this the other night. We went 5/5, which was pretty nice.(I didn't have an orb. I was just helping) Two of the five got Utsusemi: Ni, Nemesis Earring, Phalanx and one of those two also got Spirit Torque along with that. About 3+mil gil on Midgardsormr.
We went in as BLM/WHMx3 WHM/BLM and RNG/NINx2. Kicked butt. Pretty much same strategy as everyone else here. Although the last run we beat down the record. First we killed Flayer Franz as usual. Then rested up fully and ran into the rest of the worms with all three BLM using 2h. We just went through all the strongest -ga spells. Wipped them out really fast. We got 12 minutes with a death(a RNG got low on life and died from rasp...the WHM tried casting Cure III instead of Cure I. An honest mistake).
Overall it was really fun.

2x fire pact

not bad. pt was RNG (Zafire) RNG (Cashcat) RNG (Hellgod) BLM (Elcapitan) BLM (me) WHM (Qixaqyx)

shattered Fairy's old record by about 3 minutes, setting the new record at 13 mins, 17 seconds

And we all had a great time

I went into this one and set a record of 12 min on garuda server......

blm/blm/blm/blm/whm/rng

goes in and es sleepga flayer franz, everyone kicks the crap out of flayer franz til it dies, meanwhile if worms wake up, make sure es sleepga again. after that the blm mages start resting up and rotate nukes because the worms gain life if they turn gold. we'd have atleast one blm doing ga's at a time while the other three rest and just keep rotating. all in all, i got the luck of the draw with utsusemi ni and erase to drop. thanks to all who helped and sorry for those who's dropped sucked.

I thought we had a bad pt, but maybe was I wrong when we got the record at last! We were 2xRGN/NIN, 2xBLM/WHM, SAM/RNG and me, RDM/BLM.

First fight was horrible: we lost 2 RNG during the NM fight and I died after healing the last RNG full just before he killed the NM... anyway. There was 3 worms left at the end.

Second one was the worst of all 6... my turn /cry... after 1 min, 2 RNG died. We tried to raise one... he died... I raised him again and then the other RNG and I died because of Stonega II... there was no point to try it after that.

Then, all the next three fights went perfectly! No death at all.

For the last one, we tried to beat the record 18mins 17secs... We killed the NM in about 5-6 mins and we got the Fairy record with 16mins 37secs...

Maybe I didn't get the drops but that sure was a better pt than I expected ;)

Part set-up:
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
THF/NIN
BLM/NIN
BLM/NIN
WHM/BLM

So easy. Have the blms blizzardga then sleepga, any-ga then sleepga, rinse and repeat. WHM keeps barstone up and stays back out of casting range, throws cures and silena. RNGs and THF use bloody and venom bolts. Kill the center named worm first then work your way from one side of the room to the other. If anyone in party has never been here before, MAKE SURE TO TELL THEM TO RUN WEST IF SUCKED IN. With everyone but whm with shadows, WHM sits in the back and reads a book to fight off boredom. NOTE: If you are doing your orb, your drop, easiest way is after killing everything, everyone exit area except orb holder and then pop chest. This way only one person has to run back. Great for cutting downtime i.e mages resting mp. Out of 9 runs, erase dropped 7 and utsusetmi 2. FYI it is possible to get both erase and utsusemti at once. (Lucky THF ><) Good Luck!

BST/WHM

BST/WHM

My drop i got Erase Utsuemi: Ni and Nemesis Earring ^^ I reccoment BST use Monster Signa if possible, make sure to be beefed up on CHR because they are pretty tough to charm. Charm the inner ones first to attack Flayer, then go back and wait for him to die, then pick off the other ones. Divine Seal Curaga very much loved on this one ^^ Good Luck to all those who try.

After a long, dissapointing lfp last night I saw a shout for worm's turn and decided to give it a shot. RNG RNG RNG BLM BLM WHM (with erase even!)...just about perfect, ne?

We went 1/5 ~.~

It IS pretty easy with a perfect setup and experienced people. but if you don't have all people who have done it before don't be overconfident. And since the RNG nerf we've lost a lot of power on this BC because of how far away you'll want to stand from Franz... way the hell out of sweet spot ; ;

On the other hand, they said your orb your drop...and I was the 1/5^.^ . Remember to sneak BLM for first sleepga (two losses...that was pretty sad), and make sure your mages pace themselves, and one of them always has a sleepga ready (other two losses). And when all else fails, Eagle Eye Shot finally got fixed =^.^= (victory!). And...TRIPLE DROP o.O Spirit torque, Utsu Ni, Erase...I know it was your orb your drop, but I so have to share some of the wealth...this is the richest I've ever been XD.

To conclude; try to find BLMs who have done it before and if you can't just try to make sure they conserve MP and keep the worms down. This sounds like a cakewalk, but after you get Stonega'd by 15 worms and Stonega II'd by an NM one a few times you may reconsider. Gl, and be careful.

We made three runs before I had to log, planned on 6, but didn't work out too well. Our pt consisted of RNGx1, WHMx1, BLMx1, THFx3, all RNG and THFs with Capped Marksmanship or Archery. Used about a stack of Venoms, half a stack of Acids, and 25 Bloodies being the lead ranger (Though I'm a THF) in the battle. Franz will suck you in the middle of the field if you're far away, if he binds you, feel free to melee and use some of your TP. After Franz is dead, follow the lead ranger by shooting, but have the BLM keep up Sleepga on the closest ones in magic range. Keep tearing away at them, use bloody bolts to keep HP up, and an acid or two on the start of each for a quick kill. After there's only about 4 Flesh Eaters left, you can start meleeing close up and do fine. Once they're dead, have everyone go to the circle and "Run away." and then open the chest. Then, you get your drops, 1k, and go whoopey!

Current setup I use is 5 x blm and a whm. Whm must already have Erase. All need to do is get all blm's up as close as possible, and start spamming -ga spells on Flayer Franz. After 1 or 2 spells each, Flayer will be the only worm left standing. At that point, it's all out attack, then move away and rest MP if needbe. Currently have this BCNM done in 3mins 48secs

Ok, lots of worms to me means AoE damage up the yin yang... so I wonder if anyone has done this with SMNs who have used Astral flow and Aerial Blast Blood Pacts? How much damage does it do on a percent age level? If it's only 20% damage to all worms from one blast, I'll need more smn's... but if I could solo this or even duo it, that'd be kick ass.

Me and a few other people did this BCNM a few nights ago. Our setup was THF/NIN (me),RNG/NIN, 3 BLM/WHM, and one WHM/BLM. Completed it 6 times with ease and only had two deaths. Got 4 erase drops and one Utsusemi:Ni drop among other various items. Myself and the RNG just attack Franz while the BLM's cast sleepga atlernating and FireII, etc. After Franz dies the blm's cast AoE's and me and the rng stayed at a safe distance and took the worms out one by one.

Old Record : 24:23

We set the record on 4/6 runs, one being a loss, the other slow by 8 seconds (my run >.<)

New Record : 14:13

We probably could have shaved a good two minutes off of that, if we were there solely to beat the record, and everyone two houred. We were doing "Your Orb, your drops" and if we had decided to pool everything and all stayed to open the crate, that would have shaved a good 30-45 seconds right there.

Party consisted of :
Rng/War
Rng/Thf
Blm/Whm
Blm/Whm
Blm/Whm
Whm/Smn

3/6 runs both Utsusemi:Ni and Erase dropped.

just got done running 5 with a full pt and then a member dropped so we did the sixth with 5 ppl.
lineup started with rdm, blm, blm, whm, rng, bst
i know u all are looking at it and thinking bst. well we started by sleeping and then bst charmed a flesh eater inthe center ring and made it fight franz. bst cannot use sic during this b/c chance of aoe may screw up sleep. we went through 2 flesheaters befor franz was dead. this kept the h8 off of us pretty good. after franz is dead use sic as much as you want to get rid of the worms. we found that charming the worms on the inside can take out the worm on the outside from them and the next worm down can usually finish off the one u are using so u can get rid of it and charm the next one.
rng died once b/c blink wasn't up and got sucked in at the wrong time. but the rest were successful runs.
i was scepticle about using bston it but after i saw the results on this bsnmi think i will continue to use it.

i have done this BCNM as a pld succesfully before.
The pt set up was PLD/nin, whm, blm, blm, blm, rng.

~First after buffing up the pld runs in first getting tractored by the main NM.

~Then you have to put one BLM in charge of keeping all of the other worms asleep using sleepga. The one BLM should use this every time the worms wake up up until the main worm is dead.

~ While the pld takes all the aoe dmg from the 15 worms when they wake up. Then all the other blm's and rng's kill the main worm, but do NOT use are spells because it will wake up all the other worms.

~After the main worm is dead the pld's job is over, he can back up heal. You might want to take a quick minute to regen MP. Then all the BLM's and rngs should concentrate on one area of the room at a time, first the right part, then the middle, finnaly the left part. If your pt runs out of MP make sure you keep a spell like diaga on the worms so they dont recharge.

There are definatley more easy ways to do this, but if you are looking to do a LS event and dont have all the jobs you need this might offer as a altenative way. I have done it succesfully myself many times and have made a good profit off it.

Can you say easy? I have done this BCNM 61 times now and we haven't failed at all. My favorite set-up is:
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
RDM/WHM
But it can easily be beaten with a group consisting of SAM, WAR, or a THF. I did it with a WAR/RNG before and he was doing more damage than the ranger was doing =P. Well, all I can say is if you can't beat this one with this set-up and with these strategies. God Bless You lol. This BCNM is far too easy to die at.

Several of my LS members and I decided to do a series of 12 runs this week. Party setup was RNG x3, BLM x2, WHM x1. Based on current prices of drops and the ease of this BC, spending 40 seals can be very worthwhile, especially if you make rules similar to ours.

Our rules are simple - everyone brings an orb (IMHO, the "your orb, your drop" mentality leaves too much to chance, which is why I prefer a compromise approach). Anything dropped under 100K is kept by the orb holder, while anything higher is split. I know this is harder to do with pickup parties, which is why I only go with LS mates or friends. Since anything besides Utsu and Erase is probably under 100K, you can actually get lucky pocketing a little extra from a Phalanx scroll or Nemesis earring drop with this rule.

About the fight, which others may or may not have commented on:

- Take juice with you, at least Melon. Clear Mind is incredibly slow in the BC at level 40, and is one of the reasons why your BLMs should Aspir as many times as possible.

- Shell and Barstonra are important to upkeep. With these up, damage will be minor from the Stone spells.

- Once Franz is dead, focus on one worm at a time and try to kill them in such a way that the remaining worms are closely grouped. This will help with the -aga fest at the end.

- Reraise may be helpful, but from what I observed, may not be necessary. As long as the WHM stays at or behind the ramp peak, he/she should never have to worry about being drawn in and bound, which is usually the thing that will kill a WHM.

- WHMs are important in this BC not just because of curing, but because of Erase. Rasp and Bind may be managable, but the Attack Down on your RNGs will make them inefficient. Erase them when you can.

- The Bind effect doesn't last that long, and as long as the other worms are slept and barstonra is up, you can outlast it easily.

- Tractor does not work in the BC, so if someone is drawn in and dies, do not attempt to raise him/her. Just continue to fight. In one of our fights, one BLM died after being drawn in. Everytime I raised her, she was instantly killed by a worm.

- The worms are easily slept, even without Elemental Seal.

- To minimize the damage potential, keep the worms slept until about 5 remain. Once you are down to 5 worms, start nuking with your -aga spells. If your WHM has enough MP at the end of the fight, have him or her do Banishga 2. That spell, although costly, hit for 150+ each worm, while the BLM -agas tended to hit for 60+. Nothing wrong with a WHM "nuke"!

- A helpful suggestion is to make sure everyone but the orb holder leaves the BC at fight's end BEFORE the armoury crate is opened. With Quartermaster active, this will do two things: automatically make drops fall into the orb holder's inventory, and prevent your other 5 party members from having to run all the way back to the burning circle for the next round (they will exit right at the circle, and only the orb holder will have to run back).

Although chance plays a large role, we averaged one Utsu:Ni drop every 3 fights, and 1 Erase drop every six fights. So after 12 runs, each of us pocketed about 900K each, not bad for such a simple BC. This was tons better than the Ghelsba BC60 runs (where no specs dropped) and the Antican BC60 runs (where we each got around 300K).

Good luck!

So the day started out with two failed attempts at Steamed Sprouts. [Death]=[fun] I went with a large group of ppl that I thought were experienced in doing it... but it turned out otherwise. Since that did not work out so well, a group of us, led by Dragontaru, decided to do this BCNM instead. Lucky me, I'm a white mage so I got to tag along. [Erase] [Can I have it?]

Our setup for this was: Blmx2, Rng x2, Sam/rng x1, Whm x1.

Compared to Steamed Sprouts this was a stroll in the park, especially for me. I spent most of my time waiting for someone's hp to drop a little so I could acually feel useful. ~.^

So, the usual strategy. Each blm covered one side of the field w/Sleepgas, while the ppl w/bows killed Flayer, then picked off worms one by one. Whenever you get pulled in by Flayer, hope that most of the worms are sleeping, run back as fast as you can to get outta range and get your whm to Cure you. Almost had a death once, because the worms cast bind after a rng got pulled in so she couldn't run back right away. Whm keep stoneskin up so you can run into Cure range and survive a couple Stone spells if you get pulled in too.

Once Flayer is dead, no more getting drawn in and all's clear! Once most of the worms are dead, the blms rested to full and started a Ga-fest to finished them off.

Got 2-Ni's and Erase out of about 5 runs. The last two runs, one of our rngs ran out on us. My husband's Sam character happened to be logged out in Waughroon waiting for AF3 so I borrowed his body and we used him to shoot arrows at worms. He didn't have /rng sub and he was practically naked, but it was better than nothing I suppose. We still won, though it took a bit longer (and it was a little crazy playing two characters....).

So you don't have to be a Rng to do this (though, yeah it's probably best)... you can be a Sam and do this BCNM (provided your archery is lvl sufficiently)- just make sure you sub Rng! ;)

Yay! I have Erase finally! Thanks to all who helped out (Dragontaru, Lessa, Aadam, Vinny, Xsack, Kataki) it was great fun! Let's do it again! (*^_^)b

This was very simple. There was one death total because we didn't know Sneak would do nothing. Incidentally, Sneak does nothing.

One black mage was the sleeper (with a backup that really wasn't needed) and recast Sleepga every time it wore off.

Important points:
Always have Barstone up; then they'll all do little damage.
Kill Flayer Franz as fast as possible. After this the battle is cake.
If you're running low on HP or MP, get well away from the circle and rest / wait to be healed.
I could not land Silence on Franz and eventually stopped bothering to cast it.
Rangers used Acid and Holy bolts and did amazing damage.
Cast the intial Sleepga at as far a range as possible; no worms should aggro when you do this.
Sleeper should keep Aquaveil up.
When you get Drawn In, just run back. When you get Bound or mages get Rasped, get an Erase.

Drops were:
1/5 Utsusemi: Ni
3/5 Nemesis Earring
2/5 Phalanx
lots of less-valuable stuff
averaged a total of about 300k a person (5 orbs, sixth person was in for the entertainment)

All in all not very good drops, but decent money for the ease. I hope to run through again and get a better idea of drop rates.
