Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Star Orb, which is obtained by trading 40 Beastmen's Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Star Orb to the Burning Circle inside Waughroon Shrine and choose to enter the battle The Worm's Turn.

Up to 6 people may enter and you will all receive a level 40 restriction. You have 30 minutes to win. You will fight Flayer Franz & 15 Flesh Eaters. Since they are worms, they are immobile, but unlike the other two BCNMs you have twice as many enemies to fight.

Both Flayer Franz & the Flesh Eaters can cast Stonega II, so it's advised to have a Bard use Horde Lullaby & Earth Carol constantly, as well as have a Black Mage use Sleepga to limit the amount of active worms.

Fairy record

I thought we had a bad pt, but maybe was I wrong when we got the record at last! We were 2xRGN/NIN, 2xBLM/WHM, SAM/RNG and me, RDM/BLM.

First fight was horrible: we lost 2 RNG during the NM fight and I died after healing the last RNG full just before he killed the NM... anyway. There was 3 worms left at the end.

Second one was the worst of all 6... my turn /cry... after 1 min, 2 RNG died. We tried to raise one... he died... I raised him again and then the other RNG and I died because of Stonega II... there was no point to try it after that.

Then, all the next three fights went perfectly! No death at all.

For the last one, we tried to beat the record 18mins 17secs... We killed the NM in about 5-6 mins and we got the Fairy record with 16mins 37secs...

Maybe I didn't get the drops but that sure was a better pt than I expected ;)

Part set-up:
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
THF/NIN
BLM/NIN
BLM/NIN
WHM/BLM

So easy. Have the blms blizzardga then sleepga, any-ga then sleepga, rinse and repeat. WHM keeps barstone up and stays back out of casting range, throws cures and silena. RNGs and THF use bloody and venom bolts. Kill the center named worm first then work your way from one side of the room to the other. If anyone in party has never been here before, MAKE SURE TO TELL THEM TO RUN WEST IF SUCKED IN. With everyone but whm with shadows, WHM sits in the back and reads a book to fight off boredom. NOTE: If you are doing your orb, your drop, easiest way is after killing everything, everyone exit area except orb holder and then pop chest. This way only one person has to run back. Great for cutting downtime i.e mages resting mp. Out of 9 runs, erase dropped 7 and utsusetmi 2. FYI it is possible to get both erase and utsusemti at once. (Lucky THF ><) Good Luck!

Went 5/6 on this, went in with:
BST/WHM
BST/WHM
BST/WHM
BST/WHM
BST/WHM
BST/WHM

My drop i got Erase Utsuemi: Ni and Nemesis Earring ^^ I reccoment BST use Monster Signa if possible, make sure to be beefed up on CHR because they are pretty tough to charm. Charm the inner ones first to attack Flayer, then go back and wait for him to die, then pick off the other ones. Divine Seal Curaga very much loved on this one ^^ Good Luck to all those who try.

After a long, dissapointing lfp last night I saw a shout for worm's turn and decided to give it a shot. RNG RNG RNG BLM BLM WHM (with erase even!)...just about perfect, ne?

We went 1/5 ~.~

It IS pretty easy with a perfect setup and experienced people. but if you don't have all people who have done it before don't be overconfident. And since the RNG nerf we've lost a lot of power on this BC because of how far away you'll want to stand from Franz... way the hell out of sweet spot ; ;

On the other hand, they said your orb your drop...and I was the 1/5^.^ . Remember to sneak BLM for first sleepga (two losses...that was pretty sad), and make sure your mages pace themselves, and one of them always has a sleepga ready (other two losses). And when all else fails, Eagle Eye Shot finally got fixed =^.^= (victory!). And...TRIPLE DROP o.O Spirit torque, Utsu Ni, Erase...I know it was your orb your drop, but I so have to share some of the wealth...this is the richest I've ever been XD.

To conclude; try to find BLMs who have done it before and if you can't just try to make sure they conserve MP and keep the worms down. This sounds like a cakewalk, but after you get Stonega'd by 15 worms and Stonega II'd by an NM one a few times you may reconsider. Gl, and be careful.

We made three runs before I had to log, planned on 6, but didn't work out too well. Our pt consisted of RNGx1, WHMx1, BLMx1, THFx3, all RNG and THFs with Capped Marksmanship or Archery. Used about a stack of Venoms, half a stack of Acids, and 25 Bloodies being the lead ranger (Though I'm a THF) in the battle. Franz will suck you in the middle of the field if you're far away, if he binds you, feel free to melee and use some of your TP. After Franz is dead, follow the lead ranger by shooting, but have the BLM keep up Sleepga on the closest ones in magic range. Keep tearing away at them, use bloody bolts to keep HP up, and an acid or two on the start of each for a quick kill. After there's only about 4 Flesh Eaters left, you can start meleeing close up and do fine. Once they're dead, have everyone go to the circle and "Run away." and then open the chest. Then, you get your drops, 1k, and go whoopey!

Current setup I use is 5 x blm and a whm. Whm must already have Erase. All need to do is get all blm's up as close as possible, and start spamming -ga spells on Flayer Franz. After 1 or 2 spells each, Flayer will be the only worm left standing. At that point, it's all out attack, then move away and rest MP if needbe. Currently have this BCNM done in 3mins 48secs
Aerial Blast?
# Sep 30 2005 at 2:59 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, lots of worms to me means AoE damage up the yin yang... so I wonder if anyone has done this with SMNs who have used Astral flow and Aerial Blast Blood Pacts? How much damage does it do on a percent age level? If it's only 20% damage to all worms from one blast, I'll need more smn's... but if I could solo this or even duo it, that'd be kick ***.

Me and a few other people did this BCNM a few nights ago. Our setup was THF/NIN (me),RNG/NIN, 3 BLM/WHM, and one WHM/BLM. Completed it 6 times with ease and only had two deaths. Got 4 erase drops and one Utsusemi:Ni drop among other various items. Myself and the RNG just attack Franz while the BLM's cast sleepga atlernating and FireII, etc. After Franz dies the blm's cast AoE's and me and the rng stayed at a safe distance and took the worms out one by one.

Old Record : 24:23

We set the record on 4/6 runs, one being a loss, the other slow by 8 seconds (my run >.<)

New Record : 14:13

We probably could have shaved a good two minutes off of that, if we were there solely to beat the record, and everyone two houred. We were doing "Your Orb, your drops" and if we had decided to pool everything and all stayed to open the crate, that would have shaved a good 30-45 seconds right there.

Party consisted of :
Rng/War
Rng/Thf
Blm/Whm
Blm/Whm
Blm/Whm
Whm/Smn

3/6 runs both Utsusemi:Ni and Erase dropped.

bst is the best

just got done running 5 with a full pt and then a member dropped so we did the sixth with 5 ppl.
lineup started with rdm, blm, blm, whm, rng, bst
i know u all are looking at it and thinking bst. well we started by sleeping and then bst charmed a flesh eater inthe center ring and made it fight franz. bst cannot use sic during this b/c chance of aoe may ***** up sleep. we went through 2 flesheaters befor franz was dead. this kept the h8 off of us pretty good. after franz is dead use sic as much as you want to get rid of the worms. we found that charming the worms on the inside can take out the worm on the outside from them and the next worm down can usually finish off the one u are using so u can get rid of it and charm the next one.
rng died once b/c blink wasn't up and got sucked in at the wrong time. but the rest were successful runs.
i was scepticle about using bston it but after i saw the results on this bsnmi think i will continue to use it.

ok we just done this BCNM and got maimed at the beginning, second run is going ok but notice its going much slower than normal. could it be that the 2 rng thing isnt the best combo anymore? cause of the update rng isnt as strong from the rng they have to shoot at? can anyone think of anything else?

RNG, RNG, RNG, BLM, BLM, WHM.
Only 1 death, for about 2 minutes, while I waited for the BLM to sleep the worms.
Drops included 3 Erase scrolls, and 1 Utsusemi: Ni.
Nice BCNM fight

Smn/Whm
Whm/Blm
Blm/Smn
Rng/Nin
Rng/Nin
Thf/Nin

We did fine with that set up... had trouble the 5th try but we managed to do 5/6 fights easy. Hope this helps you guys.

i have done this BCNM as a pld succesfully before.
The pt set up was PLD/nin, whm, blm, blm, blm, rng.

~First after buffing up the pld runs in first getting tractored by the main NM.

~Then you have to put one BLM in charge of keeping all of the other worms asleep using sleepga. The one BLM should use this every time the worms wake up up until the main worm is dead.

~ While the pld takes all the aoe dmg from the 15 worms when they wake up. Then all the other blm's and rng's kill the main worm, but do NOT use are spells because it will wake up all the other worms.

~After the main worm is dead the pld's job is over, he can back up heal. You might want to take a quick minute to regen MP. Then all the BLM's and rngs should concentrate on one area of the room at a time, first the right part, then the middle, finnaly the left part. If your pt runs out of MP make sure you keep a spell like diaga on the worms so they dont recharge.

There are definatley more easy ways to do this, but if you are looking to do a LS event and dont have all the jobs you need this might offer as a altenative way. I have done it succesfully myself many times and have made a good profit off it.
Easy as cake...

Can you say easy? I have done this BCNM 61 times now and we haven't failed at all. My favorite set-up is:
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
RDM/WHM
But it can easily be beaten with a group consisting of SAM, WAR, or a THF. I did it with a WAR/RNG before and he was doing more damage than the ranger was doing =P. Well, all I can say is if you can't beat this one with this set-up and with these strategies. God Bless You lol. This BCNM is far too easy to die at.

Several of my LS members and I decided to do a series of 12 runs this week. Party setup was RNG x3, BLM x2, WHM x1. Based on current prices of drops and the ease of this BC, spending 40 seals can be very worthwhile, especially if you make rules similar to ours.

Our rules are simple - everyone brings an orb (IMHO, the "your orb, your drop" mentality leaves too much to chance, which is why I prefer a compromise approach). Anything dropped under 100K is kept by the orb holder, while anything higher is split. I know this is harder to do with pickup parties, which is why I only go with LS mates or friends. Since anything besides Utsu and Erase is probably under 100K, you can actually get lucky pocketing a little extra from a Phalanx scroll or Nemesis earring drop with this rule.

About the fight, which others may or may not have commented on:

- Take juice with you, at least Melon. Clear Mind is incredibly slow in the BC at level 40, and is one of the reasons why your BLMs should Aspir as many times as possible.

- Shell and Barstonra are important to upkeep. With these up, damage will be minor from the Stone spells.

- Once Franz is dead, focus on one worm at a time and try to kill them in such a way that the remaining worms are closely grouped. This will help with the -aga fest at the end.

- Reraise may be helpful, but from what I observed, may not be necessary. As long as the WHM stays at or behind the ramp peak, he/she should never have to worry about being drawn in and bound, which is usually the thing that will kill a WHM.

- WHMs are important in this BC not just because of curing, but because of Erase. Rasp and Bind may be managable, but the Attack Down on your RNGs will make them inefficient. Erase them when you can.

- The Bind effect doesn't last that long, and as long as the other worms are slept and barstonra is up, you can outlast it easily.

- Tractor does not work in the BC, so if someone is drawn in and dies, do not attempt to raise him/her. Just continue to fight. In one of our fights, one BLM died after being drawn in. Everytime I raised her, she was instantly killed by a worm.

- The worms are easily slept, even without Elemental Seal.

- To minimize the damage potential, keep the worms slept until about 5 remain. Once you are down to 5 worms, start nuking with your -aga spells. If your WHM has enough MP at the end of the fight, have him or her do Banishga 2. That spell, although costly, hit for 150+ each worm, while the BLM -agas tended to hit for 60+. Nothing wrong with a WHM "nuke"!

- A helpful suggestion is to make sure everyone but the orb holder leaves the BC at fight's end BEFORE the armoury crate is opened. With Quartermaster active, this will do two things: automatically make drops fall into the orb holder's inventory, and prevent your other 5 party members from having to run all the way back to the burning circle for the next round (they will exit right at the circle, and only the orb holder will have to run back).

Although chance plays a large role, we averaged one Utsu:Ni drop every 3 fights, and 1 Erase drop every six fights. So after 12 runs, each of us pocketed about 900K each, not bad for such a simple BC. This was tons better than the Ghelsba BC60 runs (where no specs dropped) and the Antican BC60 runs (where we each got around 300K).

Good luck!

is this possible w/ nin/rng i need utsusemi ni for nin and rng is only 17 and nin is 37 but throwing is capped so i can use that as a /ra it won't do as much damage but man it will save me alot of farming/crafting to get considering it is 300k on bismarck server.

So the day started out with two failed attempts at Steamed Sprouts. [Death]=[fun] I went with a large group of ppl that I thought were experienced in doing it... but it turned out otherwise. Since that did not work out so well, a group of us, led by Dragontaru, decided to do this BCNM instead. Lucky me, I'm a white mage so I got to tag along. [Erase] [Can I have it?]

Our setup for this was: Blmx2, Rng x2, Sam/rng x1, Whm x1.

Compared to Steamed Sprouts this was a stroll in the park, especially for me. I spent most of my time waiting for someone's hp to drop a little so I could acually feel useful. ~.^

So, the usual strategy. Each blm covered one side of the field w/Sleepgas, while the ppl w/bows killed Flayer, then picked off worms one by one. Whenever you get pulled in by Flayer, hope that most of the worms are sleeping, run back as fast as you can to get outta range and get your whm to Cure you. Almost had a death once, because the worms cast bind after a rng got pulled in so she couldn't run back right away. Whm keep stoneskin up so you can run into Cure range and survive a couple Stone spells if you get pulled in too.

Once Flayer is dead, no more getting drawn in and all's clear! Once most of the worms are dead, the blms rested to full and started a Ga-fest to finished them off.

Got 2-Ni's and Erase out of about 5 runs. The last two runs, one of our rngs ran out on us. My husband's Sam character happened to be logged out in Waughroon waiting for AF3 so I borrowed his body and we used him to shoot arrows at worms. He didn't have /rng sub and he was practically naked, but it was better than nothing I suppose. We still won, though it took a bit longer (and it was a little crazy playing two characters....).

So you don't have to be a Rng to do this (though, yeah it's probably best)... you can be a Sam and do this BCNM (provided your archery is lvl sufficiently)- just make sure you sub Rng! ;)

Yay! I have Erase finally! Thanks to all who helped out (Dragontaru, Lessa, Aadam, Vinny, Xsack, Kataki) it was great fun! Let's do it again! (*^_^)b

Party setup: Blm x 3, Rng x 2, Whm

This was very simple. There was one death total because we didn't know Sneak would do nothing. Incidentally, Sneak does nothing.

One black mage was the sleeper (with a backup that really wasn't needed) and recast Sleepga every time it wore off.

Important points:
Always have Barstone up; then they'll all do little damage.
Kill Flayer Franz as fast as possible. After this the battle is cake.
If you're running low on HP or MP, get well away from the circle and rest / wait to be healed.
I could not land Silence on Franz and eventually stopped bothering to cast it.
Rangers used Acid and Holy bolts and did amazing damage.
Cast the intial Sleepga at as far a range as possible; no worms should aggro when you do this.
Sleeper should keep Aquaveil up.
When you get Drawn In, just run back. When you get Bound or mages get Rasped, get an Erase.

Drops were:
1/5 Utsusemi: Ni
3/5 Nemesis Earring
2/5 Phalanx
lots of less-valuable stuff
averaged a total of about 300k a person (5 orbs, sixth person was in for the entertainment)

All in all not very good drops, but decent money for the ease. I hope to run through again and get a better idea of drop rates.

Just did this with a really good party... Setup was RNG RNG BLM BLM BLM WHM. Our first run, we all /randomed and i had to use my orb.. so I use, we go in. Buffs, food, all that goodstuff.. 2 blms go in and sleep either side.. then myself (BLM) and the 2 RNGs start to kill franz.. after franz went down the blms ~ga'd the rest of the worms to death. Clear time was 20min 56sec... not a record but still good... anyways... drops were:
Gold Beastcoin x2
Goshenite
Black Pearl
Utsusemi: Ni
Absorb-STR

i got Utsusemt and im happy.. peace out.
