Okay my ls and i have gotten pretty good at doing this BCNM and it seems to be our main source of income. Until last night we were 7/7 now we're 10/11, my question is has anybody noticed Flayer Franz being harder to kill after the update, yes or no. **Note** May have been our pt setup we were lacking our 2 rngs due to other things.
Normal pt setup- 2blm, 2rng, brd, rdm

Battle NotesIn order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Star Orb, which is obtained by trading 40 Beastmen's Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Star Orb to the Burning Circle inside Waughroon Shrine and choose to enter the battle The Worm's Turn. Up to 6 people may enter and you will all receive a level 40 restriction. You have 30 minutes to win. You will fight Flayer Franz & 15 Flesh Eaters. Since they are worms, they are immobile, but unlike the other two BCNMs you have twice as many enemies to fight. Both Flayer Franz & the Flesh Eaters can cast Stonega II, so it's advised to have a Bard use Horde Lullaby & Earth Carol constantly, as well as have a Black Mage use Sleepga to limit the amount of active worms. I dont remember where I read it but here goes. A few weeks ago I read that 5 BST/WHM, 1 WHM/??? can defeat this in like under 6 minutes fairly easily. Their strategy was send in one jug pet against Franz to get all initial aggro. I know from personal experience with this BCNM that all the worms link instantly. The 4 other BST charm any worm within melee range of Franz as fast as possible and have it attack him as he regens HP at a faily fast rate if you leave him be. Once Franz is dead its pretty easy. 15 other worms attacking each other dont take very long as other uncharmed worm will gang against the charmed ones. If BST can verify this I would appreciate this.

My ls did this last night and tonight. Well, we kind of found out the hard way that a pld wouldn't work and i came in after 2 hard failures. first pt make up was pld, rdm, brd, 2 blm's, and rng first time rng died and they lost everything, second attempt time ran out. I came in after the pld left to make the party makeup rdm, brd, rng, and blm x3. We seriously owned it, the drops sucked only got phalanx pretty much which on Lakshmi goes for roughly 185k. Tonight we do it again, 2 rngs, rdm, brd, 2 blms 5/5 with 4/5 erase scrolls. Let's just say that I'm now a happy rich little blm :)

The party make up was 5xBlm and 1 Rng.
Supplies: Some Pie (Apple, Melon, or Rolanberry) and some Drink is helpful but not absolutely needed
The stategy:
Have 2 Blm's run up to the very edge of the Circle.
Have the 2 Blm's ES sleepga a worm on the left and a worm on the right. This will put pretty much all the worms in the front asleep.
Have the Rng shoot the Flayer Franz. The Rng gets "dawn in". Have him/her run out west to safety.
Concentrate on and kill the NM. All the Blm's should cast Aero2 and Aero on FF.
After the NM is dead, all the Blm's should back off and rest to full.
Once all the Blm's are at full MP, just aeroga them all until they are dead. One thing to keep in mind, you might want to have the Blm's rotate in shifts; since once you stop nuking them they will regain health.
This was an easy win after we figured out that Sleepga'ing the NM initially didn't get all the worms.
We eventually got our time from 19 minutes down to 11 minutes
We got Erase once, Utsusemi: Ni twice, Spirit Torque 2 or 3 times, Strike Shield 2 times, Fire Spirit Pact 2 times, Refresh 2 or 3 times, Earth Mantle every time, and a bunch of other misc stuff (Peridot, Red stone, Reriser, etc)

One week later, we went back with the same group for 6 more fights. This time, we started to cast Blizzaga and Thundaga. And on the last fight, we used Manafont. On our last run, we beat the server record. ^^

Also another thing to mention is with the pary, do not worry about the time limit. Sure there is about 15 worms + Flayer Franz but the worms around Flayer are pretty much Even Match equivalent. It only took about 6-8 shots each flesh eater to take them down.
We did the battle 6 times and are average time was 15 minutes, half the time limit given to you.

I've been reading all these strategies, and so far I think the 3x blm 2x rng and 1x whm looks best. This is where one blm is designated sleeper and ES sleeps, than nukes while the next blm is designated sleeper. I have a question about sleepga.
When you cast it on Flayer Franz, does it always get all of the surrounding worms?
When FF is dead, and you cast it on a worm "near" the middle, will it still get all of the worms?
Can you expect to use sleepga more than 3 times throughout the fight? (considering each sleepga is elemental seal)

Also an update on items. This BCNM also drops Rosewood Logs and I guess depending on the day which colored rock cause our group got the purple rock whichever name that is.

Yes sleepga on the flayer franz gets ALL the worms around him. If you see any of the regular worms whatsoever start attacking use sleepga on franz again. Keep on doing this elemental seal or not it should keep the worms sleeping as long as you switch back and forth on it. Yeah you will be sleepgaing quite a few times.
Yeah the circle is small enough so any worm you target near the middle will sleepga the rest of them. Keep this advice in mind too. No party member should head inside the circle to battle, keep as close to the edge of the circle as you can and if you get pulled in immediately start heading west cause that's where the rest of the party and safety is.

This BCNM is the easiest of all of the 40s. Last night I did it 7 times with the results being 3 Erase, 2 Phalanx, 1 Utsusemi Ni, 2 Nemesis Earrings, and 3 Spirit Torques. My PT setup was as followed:

WHM/SMN - Fayth
SAM/RNG - Ariadne

I am 6 and 1 on this BCNM and the 1 is only because of a bad list of jobs heading in. This fight is total cakework with 2 black mages 3 rangers and a white mage. Black mages only cast sleepga until Flayer Franz is dead by the 3 Rangers then after that continue sleepga until like only 4 or 5 worms are left then use the GA spells.
As a white mage I didn't need any food or drinks for this. Heck the only times I had to cure is when Rangers or black mages got pulled in by Flayer Franz. Of course I buffed everyone at the start with protectra and shellra II and barstonra. I later learned erase thanks by one of the kind party members letting me have it since my drops were much much crappier compared to everyone else. Erase made the last few fights we did with the same party even easier. Taking rasp off the rangers is a good good thing.
Guys I am a 43 taru whm/blm that loves this BCNM battle, if you got the right crew and need a white mage feel free to look up Woowuo in the Lakshmi Server.

I've done this BCNM several times, the best I found is blm blm blm whm rng rng.
As we go in, all buffs up, we sneak blm 1 and they cast ES sleepga on Franz. The sleepga blm needs to pay attention to the other worms as so when they wake he/she can sleepga asap. Once Franz is dead everyone would back up to heal as the 2 rng's pound the worms from a distance. All 3 blm should be pretty low on mp so they all should be up and full mp together. Spam aga spells (Aeroga and thundaga seem to be the best for mp/dmg ratio). Work from one side to the other. We did this bcnm 8.5 minutes. 8)

we did this bcnm yesterday about 6-7 times(won all of them), we did some of the runs alittle diffrent cuz other people from our shell asked to go in with us but the set ups we went in with was 3rng 2blm whm, 2rng thf 2blm whm, 3rng rdm blm whm.
we tryed this afew days ago with 2brd 3rng whm did work at all the brds couldnt hit all the worms in time and would get killed.
You must have a blm with pretty good enfeebling magic.

I've tried that method, it really doesnt work well. These worms arent your everyday garden variety worms, lol. They r tough. You really need a good brd, 2 blm's 2 rng's and a whm.

this is my favorite BCNM we have set clear time record multiple times (i hate maintentence :P)

This is the easiest BCNM I've done. I've done it 18 times now, all successful. Setup as follows: 2 BLMs, WHM or RDM, and 3 RNGs. BLM (me) Elemental Seal + Sleepga on NM, all surrounding worms at slept. 3 RNGs kill NM while 2 BLMs keep all worms slept. Once NM is dead, RNGs target at will and start killing worms. BLMs join in with -ga spells. Thats it. ^^

for this particular BC, melee is pretty much dead weight. found that out when I tried as a sam >.<

this was my first BCNM, failed the first time, BLM went to far in and half the worms all stonega'd at once. I was the only survivor! (Thanks to barstonra and stoneskin). Then someone lagged and ran straight into the worms and got bound/nuked to death. And whm tried to raise she got killed aswell. 2nd attempt couldnt have went any better though, absolutely nothing went wrong ^^ we where doing a your seals your drops, and one of us got 500k worth in drops!

Basically I was there due to a lack of Rangers but hey, I got to fight so I was happy XD
Anyway the strat:
Once you all enter, eat your food. The RNG ate rice dumplings but I ate Squid Sushi to ensure that i could actually hit the damm things. I immediately Meditated. After WHM buffs up with protect and shell, the BLM runs up to the edge of casting range and casts Elemental Seal + Sleepga. The RNG and I proceed to shoot the crap out of Flayer Franz. I run up close, draw my sword and shoot my WS then return to the edge of the shooting range. Just repeat thsi until Flayer Franz dies.
If anyone gets sucked in, just run run run and run back to your party. It is essential that Sleepga is kept active or else you will get anally bombarded if you get sucked in and all the worms are awake. This happened to me once and too me down to 41 HP in about 2 seconds.
Anyone when we destroyed about half of them with Ranged Attacks, the mages all started spamming -ga spells on the remaining worms while we continued to pick them off one by one.
Generally a pretty easy BC i'd say. Even though its the only one i have ever done XD.
PS I had no pants when i did this. Please take this into serious consideration when doing this BC.
Out of 5 runs we had about 1.3 mil in drops. Pretty good. Utsusemi Ni and Erase dropped same round, but then a few rounds went by with crap. Spirit Torque dropped every round and sold for about 110k each. Good deal. Around the 4th or 5th round we got Nemesis Earring which was decent as well.

I run up close, draw my sword and shoot my WS then return to the edge of the shooting range. Just repeat thsi until Flayer Franz dies.
If anyone gets sucked in, just run run run and run back to your party. It is essential that Sleepga is kept active or else you will get anally bombarded if you get sucked in and all the worms are awake. This happened to me once and too me down to 41 HP in about 2 seconds.
Anyone when we destroyed about half of them with Ranged Attacks, the mages all started spamming -ga spells on the remaining worms while we continued to pick them off one by one.
Generally a pretty easy BC i'd say. Even though its the only one i have ever done XD.
PS I had no pants when i did this. Please take this into serious consideration when doing this BC.
Out of 5 runs we had about 1.3 mil in drops. Pretty good. Utsusemi Ni and Erase dropped same round, but then a few rounds went by with crap. Spirit Torque dropped every round and sold for about 110k each. Good deal. Around the 4th or 5th round we got Nemesis Earring which was decent as well.
