Summary

You are to escort Olavia to her desired destination within the Crawlers' Nest.

Walkthrough

Note: This is an escort quest. You can only have one escort quest active at a time. Other escort quests include Escort For Hire:San d'Oria, Escort For Hire:Bastok, Escort For Hire:Windurst, All By Myself and The Big One.

You can only undertake a specific escort quest once per conquest tally.

To start this quest, speak with Trilok in the Steaming Sheep Inn in Port Bastok. Once the quest is in your quest log, gather your party and head to Crawler's Nest.

The first person who zones into Crawler's Nest will get a cutscene with the NPC Olavia, who is the escortee for your quest. When the cutscene ends, make sure your entire party is in the zone before speaking with Olavia again.

When you're ready, speak with Olavia again and she'll begin walking. Speak to her whenever you want her to stop; this can help you clear away harmful monsters that might agro to her. If Olavia dies, you'll have to zone and restart your walk through Crawler's Nest.

Olavia will follow one of three possible routes through Crawler's Nest. One is very easy, one is moderately tough, and the third one is rough. Not everything aggroes in here, so you don't have to fight everything unless you really want to. You do have a 30 minute time limit, so be aware of that.

All three routes start with her running into the central "ball sack" room. Olavia will then run north into the scorpion room, where you will have your first aggro. I would recommend killing the scorpions before you go into the room. Once she gets to the room, she'll do a big circle and head back out to the main room.

This is where she embarks on one of three possible paths:

First route: If she heads NW up to the top level, breath a sigh of relief. You'll have to contend with a few soldier crawlers, a handful of labyrinth lizards, and a few exorays. However, you'll have plenty of chances to stop her before she gets aggro. The only dangerous point is at I-8 of the upper level, where she might fall into a room full of lizards that aggro. Keep one person up top to stop her, drop and kill the lizards, and then bring her down. She will head west and eventually end up in the Exoray room at G-10, where she'll stop. Once she stops, talk to her. You have about 20 seconds to talk to her before she warps out and you are out of luck.

Second route: If she heads SW towards the bottom level, this is tricky. She is going to come down to the bottom line and run through the big "donut room" filled with hornflies, exorays, soldier crawlers and mushushuus. Only the hornflies don't aggro, and also be aware of water elementals (Waterga II may kill her outright). She will run down the hallway at the west side of the room and eventually stop. This area is full of coffer key mobs, almost all of which will need to be killed before she moves by. If you're lucky, someone will be here hunting coffer keys and the path will be clear. Once she stops, talk to her. You have about 20 seconds to talk to her before she warps out and you are out of luck.

Third route: She may head due west out of the main "ball sack" room, and this is the longest route. She will head all the way down the hallway to F-7, then turn around and run all the way back to the main room. Then she will head NW and upstairs. Once she reaches the upper level she will head due north (dropping off the same ledge discussed in the first route), but head NE out of this room instead of west. She will eventually stop in the little room at I-7. Once she stops, talk to her. You have about 20 seconds to talk to her before she warps out and you are out of luck.

Once it is all done, return to Trilok in the Steaming Sheep Inn for your reward. This quest can be repeated once every conquest tally, but repeats will not get you the 10K gil, only the page.

You need fame for this quest. Not sure how much. Just thought I'd let you all know before you even try. Cya

i'm 3 lv from hero fame, and i have done this quest. so just for clarification, u dont need max fame for bastok to get this quest.

if u high fame and cant get it, there are several ways to solve this. u either already have another escort quest activated but not yet finished, or u already did another escort quest within a real time week.

Just thought I'd offer some info once higher levels are reached. This Bastok quest is the easiest of the escort quests if you have one or two higher leveled bsts... preferably ones who will charm with a very high success rate (or better yet, will check the mobs as too weak). Simply move the aggroing monsters out of the way with charm/release (or hold the charm while she goes through). This is of course easier with 2 bsts, as you can basically avoid every single mob entirely, having the quest length depend solely on how fast Olavia's legs can move. The escort quests in Sand and Wind are a bit trickier because of the undead, so avoid those if you've done them once already.

Oh, and yes the quest is repeatable once every real-time week. And yes, the NPC route can change each time. At level 75, you'll get roughly ~1200xp. Very nice for almost no work at all.
Few questions:

1) Is this repeatable? Once per real day, once per real week, etc.?

2) Does the NPC generate hate of her own? In other words, if 3 scorpions are fighting your pet and you tell the npc to get going, do the scorpions continue fighting your pet or do they stop and chase the npc?

1) not sure if its repeatable, haven't tried yet. i'll check tonight. i'm thinking even if it is repeatable that you won't get the exp item again. (that item was level 20 req by the way)

2) it seems the npc is bound by the same hate rules as players. mobs will agro the npc, but they won't leave a target specifically to get the npc.

Thanks for the responses. I'm very interested in seeing if this can be repeated. :D

All in all it's still a considerable effort for 10k gil, but it would be a nice once a week/day thing to do like the Gusgen Clay quest is now.

ok, the quest is repeatable - i was able to get it again. however, its different this time around. i'm 50 bst/whm now, and she took a different route. i was going solo.

the npc went to the scorpion room same as last time. after that, she went to the SW (i think, don't remember) path that leads down to the square-shaped room. (before, she went down the north path after the scorpion room, towards the lizards...)

the square room wasn't too difficult, although there are VT beetles there. lucky she didn't agro one. i had to kill a few exo's and soldier crawlers to clear a path, but we made it through without too much trouble.

she then took the west exit. this hallway has VT crawlers, IT helm beetles, and IT knight crawlers near the end. luckily there were a few parties in here, so there weren't too many mobs to worry about.

we got to about 1 map-square away from the end of the passage... and i couldn't find a way past the IT crawler. i failed 3 charms on it before it killed me. it then killed the npc in 3 hits. the only plus is that i dinged evasion to 141 while it was killing me, lol.

so, it seems the only way i can solo this at 50 is with a lot of luck. i didn't make it to the room at the end of the passage, but i assume it has more IT baddies in it. i'm confident that you only have to get to this room for the 2nd time around though, as its a dead-end on the map.

i may try this again soon... but probably not for a while. the only way i see it working is to keep the mobs there distracted long enough to get the key item from the npc, and then warp out - not easy when everything around me is IT (that is, no charm fodder)

knight crawlers are listed as level 60-67 on allakhazam here, i wouldn't be comfortable facing them until level 64ish (as a solo beastmaster). but if you get a group who can take those down, then you'll have no prob.

anywho, hope this helps. i really would like to know what the reward is for the second time around... so let me know if you get it. ;)

cheers, and good luck!

just finished this quest. rank 5, level 48 beastmaster/whm. i have max bastok fame. i solo'd it, although bringing a mage friend is a good idea just in case. you will want sneak/silent oils.

reward was 10000 gil and a Page from Miratete's Memoirs, which I assume gives experience points, but i haven't used it yet. sadly, i didn't receive a new title.

the tricky parts;

doom scorpion room - don't let her enter it until the scorpions are dead. as bst, charm one of the scorpions (conned decent to me) and have it fight one of the others. the other 2 will link, and kill your pet, and your original target will come after you. simply charm it, send it back against the other two, repeat until they're gone. (this works for any crowds of linking monsters that you can charm)

next rough spot is after you go to a different floor of the nest, when you first hit lizards. the lizards agro on sound. i was lucky in that she ran straight through them without drawing agro. these lizards conned tough to me. i imagine you can wait for a path to clear through the lizards, then let her run through untouched.

last is the exoray room - same situation as the lizard room above. these all conned VT to me. she drew one agro and I was able to charm it off her. she ran up to the wall, i talked to her, and got the key item Completion Certificate (i think thats what it was called, don't remember).

in between these rooms there are various soldier crawlers and doom scorpions in the hallways. these are easy to charm and move out of the way though.

note, you can cast cures on the NPC you're guiding through. didn't try other spells.

this will be easily soloable as beastmaster when exorays con as even or lower to you. you can just charm-juggle your way through the whole thing.

good luck!

It looks like this quest requires rank 6 fame. Before I had gotten that, all he would say is "You're a new adventurer, eh? Fight lizards, they're totally worth it!" or something.

Check what the Sandy and Windy versions have, someone might have figured out some stuff there.

Olvia is a hoe

I tried this quest last night. Olavia was waiting for me just inside the entrance. Everytime I clicked on her she'd either stop moving or start moving again. She gets aggro and dies pretty easy. Each time she died I zoned then came back in and the quest started over again. She tells you you have 30 minutes (RT) to get through the zone. I think that timer starts the first time you click on her and she starts moving.

I didn't make it. It's probably a high level quest or a party quest (she even tells you to let here know if the party is ready to start). The first area she aggros is the scorp room which is the first tunnel to your right from the egg sack room. I had here wait while I killed the scorps. When she got in the room another scorp spawned and she started attacking. I took hate and she only took aoe damage. I believe you can cast any spell on here that you can cast on someone who is not in your party, example (yes to cure, no to regen). After the scorp room she took the next tunnel over which takes you down stairs. The scorp wasn't there so the first aggro was a soldier crawler. I killed the first one, but the second soldier killed Olavia. I'm not sure how much she wants to run around down there, but those lizards aggro and link so if that's where she's heading she can go there alone. I'll try again tonight just to see.

Trilok is in the steaming sheep tavern in Port bastok by the bar next to the lady who gives you the eco-warrior quest. A cut-scene start in Crawler's Nest once you have accepted the quest. I had ecorted her through the cave but we ran into some scorpions and I ditched that broad. I don't know where she wanted to go, but she didn't get that far. As far as I know if you zone out, you can start it again. Hope this helps.

Higher Fame needed
# Apr 23 2004 at 8:34 AM Rating: Decent
I think you'll need higher than lvl4 fame.
I ran into her in the crawler's nest this week. (can't remember the time ><)
I tried to talk to her, but she didn't even acknowledge me.
At the time i had no idea what she was there for.
I am in the lvl 4 Fame bracket, so it must be higher.

"Trilok : Hey, I know you. You're the adventurer everybody's been talking about. I've got a proposition for you. If you are interested."

For him to make a comment like that, obviously, you need fame to get this quest. Now, what level fame?

Assuming it has the same level of importance as RSE or the Gobby Bag quest, I'd beleive you would need lv4.
