In-Game Text

You have been asked to take apart the Joker Cardian and steal it's Mana Orb. But... Where, o where has the Joker gone? O where, o where can he be?

Description

Talk to Honoi-Gomoi after finishing the Crying Over Onions Quest. He wants you to disassemble the Cardian. Speak with Kohlo-Lakolo next; he will say where the Cardian has been hiding (it's at the House of the Hero in Windurst Walls). Walk to the House of the Hero and see what happens there and speak with the Cardian, who asks you to go to Toraimarai Canal. Once there, get a coffer key through killing some of the monsters in the area and open a treasure coffer. Inside will be a joker card. Return with this card and the Cardian will pay 8000 gil as a bribe for its safe passage. Once you have received the payment, return to Honoi-Gomoi and talk with him to complete the quest.

Very weird,i have two players and did the exact same thing on both and yet one cannot get the wild Card quest to activate.I have the cutscene with the SOB's and everything, but when i went back to Kohlo he only told my one player where the Joker is hiding ,but nothing to my other player.
I do have a couple quests unfinished on my second player,so must be one of those two quests that is stopping me from getting Wild Card activated?

The two that are missing from my second player are "let sleeping dogs lie" and "Wonder Wands".
A little stuck?

Can you not complete this quest if 8-2 is open but not complete? I found the coffer and opened it to receive gil, not the Key Item...?

If you are over Windurst rank 8, then you have to talk to Apururu at (H-9) in Windurst Woods after you get the joker card to finish this quest.

I finished Crying Over Onions, zoned out and back in. But I can't get this quest to start, they won't tell me where the dumb joker is. I have enough fame for the teleport - Mea quest and the Trial by Size Trial by Lightning quest. Is that still not enough fame? or is there another reason I can't start it? It is also not a waiting for a while thing, cause i tried again a day later and still nothing.

Later half of windurst mission (6-10) happens somewhere between Wild Card and The Promise or after The Promise, but it's related. So the CS you get in this quest might be alittle different depending on where you are in the mission.
I finished the mission long before, so I had to talk to Aparuru, no CS at the house of hero. Then when I talked to the SOB to start The Promise, they said that I have been gone for a long time, and want a replacement invisible man sticker, and will tell me what happened afterwards.

When you got Joker's Card go talk with Apururu at (H-9) in Windurst Woods. He will tell you something and buy card. After this talk with Honoi-Gomoi to complete the quest.

First, Apururu is a she. She is mentioned over and over as Ajido-Marujido's sister. All female Tarus have one name (e.g. Apururu, Shantotto, Kupipi), and all male Tarus have 2 names (e.g. Ajido-Marujido, Leepe-Hoppe, Honoi-Gomoi).

Second, talking to Apururu is what you have to do if you've done some of the later Windurst missions. This is for obvious plot reasons.

You have to zone out and back in after finishing Crying Over Onions. If you don't, Honoi-Gomoi will tell you to disassemble Joker, but not in a cs, which is required to formally start the quest.

The kid only casually mentions Joker and the "ghosty house" which is the House of the Hero. Go there after he says this.

Intaruesting... I finished Crying Over Onions and talked to Honoi-Gomoi. He told me in no uncertain terms that he wants me to disassemble poor Joker. But my buddy-wuddies at the Brigade say nothing about Joker's location when I speakies to them.

I wonder... is this questaru dependent on access to the Canal? I'm from Bastok and can't get a portal charm for the mage gate, so I'm working on quests for the Rhinostery so I can get access to the Canal gate in Windurst Waters. I should have that soonies.

Or should I just wander-blunder my way to the House of the Hero and see who's there?

Just finished this mission AFTER completing Windy Rank 10. Since the joker is "dead" you must go find Apururu (she is in her normal spot)
She mentions something about a card being no good, maybe the joker is dead etc etc etc, but then gives the 8K. Returning to Honoi-gamoi completes the quest as normal

Hey... here's a more detailed list of which mobs drop the coffer key - although they do seem plentiful - in case you're having troubles getting one to drop.

Impish Bats Lv. 58-60
Girtab Lv. 58-60
Mindcraver Lv. 60-62
Fleshcraver Lv. 60-62
Dire Bats Lv. 62-64
Stygian Pugil Lv. 63-65
Bouncing Balls Lv. 64-67
Starmites Lv. 65-67

Please note that Coffer Key Mob info was pulled from cannotlinkto.

After getting the joker card, I had to return to Apururu @ the Manustery in Windy Woods to collect the 8000 gil reward. And also a quick note, make sure after getting this quest that you go to the House of the Hero for the Cut-scene...otherwise when you open the coffer you'll receive only gil (and not a bad sum), but no joker card.

I agree with this... however I got the key off impish bats and mindcravers as bst 55-56 and after 16k experience points 2 keys dropped. I wasn't really looking for the key either (that is the best way to get a coffer key, if you are trying to get the key it usually takes a lot longer^^) wish bat wings/fangs bone chips were worth more because I got tons of those...

so i was goign to say that these descriptions were wrong but someone said there's multiple storylines or something.

When I returned to the House of the Hero, Joker was nowhere to be found. Apururu showed up though and I let her see the card. She bought it off me for 8K gil.

*EDIT*

after that I went to Honai-Gonai or whatever his name is and he yelled at me about hwo I said I'd do somethign for him and he cna't beleive I was backing out of it. I think I told him I'd get him a mana orb, but I've been on this quest for a long time and I don't entirely remember.

Depending on your city, rank, and previous answers to questions on this quest, it might unfold differently than outlined above. For instance, there isn't always a Cardian inside the house of the summoner. Sometimes it's Apururu. In that case, go back to her and get your 8000g before running off to visit the merchant again.

keys drop off the mindcravers and fleshcravers like crazy.

i get a drop like every 30-45 min (RL time)
#Lushang, Posted: Apr 22 2004 at 10:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What are you talking about? It will take you a PT of level 55s at least to safely kill the easist mobs, you will get adds, and it is a coffer key drop - which means you could be there for a long time before you get the drop. Then you have to find the coffer, if there are no higher levels coffer hunting (good luck with that).
#demonicsaint, Posted: Apr 22 2004 at 2:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Really easy quest for the gil. :O
