Summary

Help apprehend the criminal suspect that has been sighted on La Theine Plateau.

Walkthrough

This quest requires a lot of running around, so if you have a BLM with Warp I, it would be a good idea to make that your sub-job.

To start things off you need to go to G-8 in Southern San d'Oria and talk to Deraquien. This starts a cutscene.

Afterwards head to just outside of Ordelle's Caves and talk to Narvecaint (F-7), another cutscene will occur. Now head back to Southern San d'Oria and talk to Deraquien again. After that cutscene, head to Chateau d'Oraguille and talk to Halver for another cutscene. After this is done, head back to Deraquien to watch another cutscene.

From there go talk to Phillone. She can be found inside one of the houses, (D-7), on your left just past the Tanner's Guild. Now go talk to Deraquien again. From there go through King Ranperre's Tomb to Jugner Forest, where there will be a ???. Examine it at any time between 18:00-4:00 and it will spawn two mobs: Giollemitte B Feroun and Skeleton Esquire. It is strongly recommended that you bring along a few level 50+ people to help with this quest. After you kill the mobs examine the ??? again for another cutscene.

Now go back to Southern San d'Oria and talk to Phillone again for another cutscene. Then go back to Ordelle's Caves caves and talk to Narvecaint again. Now return to Southern San d'Oria and talk to Phillone one last time to finish up the quest. Your reward is a Medieval Collar.

Long quest bad ending
# Feb 09 2006 at 1:59 AM Rating: Decent
I swear this quest is more annoying than the venerer ring btw I believe if this quest is open the game will not allow you to start Sandoria mission 2-1. My fight went well went as 66 thf to solo the mobs, didn't feel like losing more precious buffer xp from my blm. Started out with ichi, and squid sushi then spawned the mobs Shadow is pld, skeleton is blm and both sucked.

Pld uses Flash, skeleton starts casting aga's wiping out my shadows. About half life the pld uses Invincible so I pop perfect dodge and continue to whack at the pld ignoring the skeleton. Finally Dancing edge and pld goes down then a short and annoying dance with the skeleton and fun with paralysis.

After the kill i was rewarded with a beautiful cutscene starring everyones favorite elvaan. And his sunny disposition. Overall I give SE a G for gay for long quests with bad rewards.
Took all advice FTW

MNK56 soloed him. Took all of the advice that I have seen on this page for the easy win. I set my NPC to healer type and grabbed a Protect II before and used a sneak oil. The two just stood there, popped Boostx9 Chi Blast for really good damage. Guy used Dimentional Death twice and Invincible about 10 seconds into my Hundred Fists. The skelly was never in the equation. All in all a really fun fight, easy for that matter. But then again, I am the freakin Obsidian Storm after all...

Sounds more like some female WWF wrestlers name to me...

Easy peasy

58 MNK- Boosted 11 times, clicked the ??? Chi Blasted the shadow for around 350ish, Hundred Fisted the Skelly to get TP. The Shadow used invincible when I Chi blasted him, though, so my 2hr was not wasted. Felled the skelly, Chakra'd, and went on to Shadow. Invincible died when my HF wore off, so then I used my buffs, then popped a Raging Fists for 905. He died moments later.

I coulda solo'd this at 51, I bet. Too easy.

Handily solo'd this as a 57 BST in my regular xp gear. Had Stoneskin and blink up, regen'd before popping mobs. Used plain CrabFamiliar put it on the PLD first then put it on the skele to take all the hate. The crab criticaled the skele for 250 ^^. Guess i was all nervous for nothing, excellent story
A Great Quest

I just finished this quest last night and i highly suggest that if you are able, you should do this quest, sure a medieval collar isnt the best reward, but the true reward is the story. Best damn quest ive ever done. And as for the NMs lol too easy, they took like 40 hp from me at best <_<
Duo'd
# Sep 21 2005 at 11:39 AM Rating: Default
Duo'd the NMs with a fellow WHM. i went as WHM55/BLM27 (Hume), he went as WHM51/BLM25 (Taru)

it would have been easier if i had my 2hr up, but we beat them both... although he died once... i'd say if yir gonna try this, definitely bring along a few melon juices or yag drinks, expect the battle to take up to 10 min
Great Story

This quest I did a while ago, however I would like to say despite the fact the reward is not worth much, the Story is by far one of the best I've seen in the game so far, this quest takes a while but once you get to the second or third cutscene you're hooked. The Collar is nice if you are a Paladin but the real reward is the story. The NM's, one Paladin and one Dark Knight was duo'ed by me(Dragoon 43/Bard 21) and my brother (White Mage 75/Summoner 37), It wasn't too bad I basically brought him along for Insurance and he was needed a bit. Here's a tip for you Dragoons, if you solo, use bard sub, your wyvern with breath Weapon Skills and if you are in low HP he will Healing Breath you as well, and this is better than white mage sub because you can never run out of mp. Well anyway have fun with this quest I know I did.
Easy fight

Soloed this with my 71whm/35blm, kept stoneskin up, but they hardly landed a hit on me. Couldn't sleep either of them, but did manage to silence the skeleton. I popped the NM's at 18:00 couldn't get it to pop before that. Extremely easy fight, good luck to you all.

Went as 53BLM subbing WHM; had with me a 53 PLD and 53 DRK, both subbing WAR--these two went down no problem. I started off silencing the skeleton, and it hit our PLD for very little damage--of course, the shadow got Dimensional Death off, but a few quick Cures got the PLD to full health again. With Holy Circle up we were intimidating like crazy. Once they were dead, we all examined the ??? again--I can confirm that you only need to fight them once if multiple people have the quest; just make sure you examine the ??? quickly after the fight.
Wicked storyline, for all you cutscene-whores like me, you'll enjoy this very much!

War 56/Mnk 28. Did this last Sunday. Touched the ??? and spawned the mobs. Engaged the Skel first and 2-hr'd him. Used Rampage only once before finishing it. Then took on pld shadow. Started of with Rampage (which is TP I saved from skel). Shadow and I are pretty much the same health at this time, but his attacks keep missing me (used mnk's dodge ability). Shadow uses invincibility, so I hit him for no dmg, though he still has trouble landing any hits on me. Invincibility runs out, and I'm back in business. Build TP, gave him another rampage. I'm down to less than half my HP, but I have more than shadow does, percentage-wise. Got enough TP for another rampage, then a couple of hits more and he's done. I end up with 340/1309 HP and a happy to have beaten them both by myself. \(^-^)/

I teamed up with my LS mate Kanada, him being a PLD60/WAR30 and myself a DRK53/WHM21. Basically he held off the shadow long enough for me to silence and beat the hell out of the skeleton. The shadow kept using Dimentional Death on Kanada but it never landed. I didnt have to cure either of us, and our hp never dropped into yellow. Was easier than I though it would be.

Wow, this was a fun quest. I decided to do it the other day after I had noticed that it had been in my quest log for a while. I soloed it as a lvl 30 PLD (j/k, had some major help ^^). This quest has a great story, btw.

As for the fight near the end, I requested the help by shouting in Southern San d'Oria and a lvl 60 RDM/NIN responded. We went to Jugner by way of Ranperre's Tomb, as usual. He buffed up with Utsusemi and the such while I ran and hit the ???. He engaged the shadow guy because he thought Skeleton Esquire was a regular mob. The skeleton aggroed me, so I ran around like an idiot in circles curing myself. I dropped down to 1/4 hp when my MP ran out, luckily the RDM killed the shadow before I 2-hred. He then dealt some major ownage to the skeleton. He ended up using 19 shihei but ended the fight with virtually no HP loss. I talked to the last few people and finished the quest.

If you can get the help of a high-lvl player or you ARE a high-lvl player, this quest should be cake. Thankyou to Palacea of Hades server, your help was very much appreciated. Plus now I have the most awesome title: "Obsidian Storm"!

I soloed this as BRD75/BLM (for Warp), and kept the skeleton asleep while I killed the shadow. Lullaby doesn't work on the shadow, however.

I also popped the mobs shortly after 4:00. I guess the window is 18:00-6:00.

Me: WHM45/BLM22

Caledonius: WAR50/NIN25

Popped, Cale engaged the Skeleton, I silenced it. Hasted and Regen II'd Cale, then the PLD came after me. I engaged, he didn't hit too hard, even without Stoneskin. Cale then 'voked the PLD onto himself when my HP hit the yellow.

I tried to silence the PLD, but it refused to stick after 2 casts so I gave up. All he casted was Flash. Silence wore off on the Skeleton when it was at about 10% HP. I didn't bother recasting, as it was shortly dead... or... un-undead... or whatever happens when you kill a Skeleton.

After one was dead, the PLD wasn't much trouble. His Flashes didn't seem to stop us from beating him senseless. He went Invincible at 25% HP, meaning one of Cale's WSs was wasted, but we just kept on beating him, and he died quick.

Total time: less than 3 minutes.

( I also dinged Club skill 100 while fighting them, /red]/hurray[green for Starlight! )

This was easy solo it @ 50pld/mnk

1st i buff up (prot III and shel II), then i used a silent oil (for sneak).

i waited for the shadow(Giollemitte B Feroun) to be in the open then i pulled him. fight lasted for 2-3min i didnt even use my 2h. The mob didnt hit me past 25 i was doing around 40. Although one of his WS did do around 100+ each time (4-6 times).

In the end had enough to cast one CureIII and Cure II. I was never in danger. After shadow was dead the skeleton was gone, and i finished by checking the ??? again.

I dont not recomend doing this on dark day .... i believe the fight would be much harder. I did it on Wind day.

Easy for SAM lvl 58

This quest made me laugh. I solod both of these NM's as a 57WAR/24NIN using swords as my weapons. Wasn't hard. They missed most of all (not including the taking the blinks away). The shadow NM did do Deminsinal Death (sp?). Didn't even hit me. So yeah it can be done solo. I'd guess these NM's to be around mid 40's.
new boots?

did this quest last night with a group from my LS. NM was way too easy but my pty was 3 out of 5 above level 50. The running back and forth was getting tedious but by far one of if not THE coolest storylines for a quest ive yet to see. My pty roleplayed throughout the adventure which made it even better ^^
Easy to solo

Sneak/Pull works!
# Mar 17 2005 at 8:12 AM Rating: Decent

Did this quest last night, me ( RDM 51 ) and a 55 PLD. PLD and I used Sneak before spawning the NMs, then pulled Giollemitte back toward the lake, skeleton missed the whole fight because it never engaged us. The shadow used DD a couple times, but it never managed to hit the PLD with it, and the PLD only took about 100 damage through the whole fight O_o

Moments after the shadow went down, we decided to kill the Esquire, but as soon as I drew my bow, he despawned. We checked the ??? again, got cutscene, and went back to Sandy to finish the quest. All in all, very easy with a couple of medium-sized folks and sneak for pulling.
