Summary

A piece of samurai artifact gear lays hidden in a coffer inside Temple of Uggalepih.

Walkthrough

Note: To obtain this quest, you must have completed The Sacred Katana - SAM AF1 and activated the quests Borghertz's Loyal Hands and Yomi Okuri - SAM AF2.

Head to Temple of Uggalepih and farm an Uggalepih coffer key. These drop from Hover Tanks, Temple Bees, Temple Guardian, Tonberry Dismayers, Tonberry Maledictors, Tonberry Pursuers and Tonberry Stabbers.

Next, find a coffer. Coffer spawn points include I-7, I-10, J-11, H-8, G-8, G-7, G-10, G-9, E-8 and E-7. Be careful of doll mobs, which agro to magic. If you need to open a door to check inside a room, ry to hug a corner, which will make it more difficult for tonberries to see you.

Also note, the spawn point at E-8 requires an Uggalepih Key to access, and the E-7 point requires a Prelate Key.

When you find your coffer, trade your key to the coffer to receive your Myochin Domaru.

I just tried to do this "quest" solo with two and half stacks of Prism Powders and a stack of Silent Oils. Luckily, as I entered the area where the coffer spawns (second map) there was a lvl. 75 RDM camping, I believe, Habertrot(sp). He was kind enough to open the wooden gate and kill the Temple Guardian (NM?) for me as I just ran around invisible. I checked all the spots that were accesible, used the "tab key" trick and didn't find it. I am guessing it's behind the Uggaleiph door or Prelate door. Anyhow, as I was heading to double check the spots once over to verify that it is definitely behind one of the doors, I lost invisible and aggro'd a Wespe. I had to use my Insta-warp scroll and jet out of there. (>_<)`

I returned via Telport-Yhoat and tried again. The RDM was still there but I bumped into an NA PT that was doing a ZM. While invisible they opened the gate for me and I began my futile search. I ran into the high level PT that helped me get they coffer key but they were zoning out of there. I look to my surprise that not too far behind them was a train of everything you can think of. I did not know that one of the mobs in the train aggro on sound (as I only had invisible on) it hit me real quick and dropped my invisible and I ran to the H-8 coffer area behind the hidden door. There I aggro'd the Coeurl that usally hangs out in front of the door and had to 2Hour and survived with 348HP left. I'm just going to camp this "safe room" and hopefully the coffer pops. Wish me luck guys and gals and good luck to you! \(^o^)b

Because AF6 (Myochin Domaru) is the same as AF5 (Myochin Haidate) which you would have found in a Quicksand Caves Coffer. As long as you have completed AF1 and have at least flagged AF2 and AF4 (Myochin Sune-Ate and Myochin Kote, respectively) you will get the AF6 in the coffer instead of a map. Just like AF5 this quest does not get flagged, how you would be expected to know what to do without looking at a site such as this or asking someone who has it is beyond me, but otherwise if you have all the other AF as you say, just get a Coffer Key, go hunting, and (Congratulations!)

Hope this all made sense and helps you out! ^^

Yes its true unfortunatly that the coffer WONT change positions until somebody opens the coffer.
So if its in a bad spot get insant warp ready.

Question about Coffer Spawn

Talking to some people, they say that in Temple of Uggalepih, coffers don't respawn until someone opens the one that is currently available. Is this true or are the coffer spawns like other locations and respawn on a timer? Thank you for your help.
Coffer Hell

Just wanted to relay my own experiences on this coffer, having just completed it after 4 long days of searching.

First and foremost, you only need invisible for this entire area. The Rumble Crawlers here are non-aggro. Be careful of the Temple Guardian though, he may aggro to magic being a doll-type mob (but I've only seen him aggro to anyone trying to open the door he guards).

Mobs can see through doors. If you need to drop invis for any reason to open a door or check a room, try to hug a corner so as to stay as far out of possible sight range as possible.

The Temple Guardian guards a room with two more coffer points. The Temple Guardian himself conned as Very Tough to me at 58. I didn't have to fight him myself but I'm guessing a good party of 57-58 can probably take him out, although it will probably be a tough fight as it is a doll-type mob. Watch out for Meltdown - stunners recommended.

A very important note about the room past the Temple Guardian is an NM doll called Manipulator. I've seen him there a number of times. Make sure you invis far from him before going in.

Now, here is the kicker. There are two final coffer points at E-8 and E-7. Both are behind doors that require keys. First door at E-8 requires a Uggalepih Key, dropped by Tonberry Cutters in the same area you're in. This leads into a small room that has a coffer pop point. To the north of that room is another door that requires a Prelate Key, dropped by Tonberry Stabbers, leading to a room at E-7. This is where my coffer was. My party headed back to where we hunted my key to find them, as Stabbers are coffer key droppers also. Unfortunately they are scarce in that area, but we got a Prelate Key drop on the fifth or sixth.

Now, the most important thing to note is that if you are unlucky enough as to head to find your coffer when it's behind the Prelate Key door, your best bet is to put together a party and get the key. The coffer will sit there unopened and unmoving for a very very long time it seems. I never saw a party go into even the first room.

Finally, if you do have a hunch that your coffer is behind the first or second locked door, when you get the keys, do one final check of all the other coffer pops first before going in, because these keys are /one time use/. Further, bring a party along, preferably 58+. The first room has the same mobs as the rest of the area but it is enclosed and heavily populated so you may need to do some fighting. The Prelate Key room has high level coffer key dropping Tonberries, so if it's in there, try to throw invis up right as you go in, and open asap, before you get aggro.

Hope some of this helps anyone who's had trouble getting their Uggalepih coffer. So far it has been the worst area I've hunted a coffer for. And I thought Garlaige and Eldieme were bad!

Safe Room?

I have not yet gone to the Temple to get a key/coffer, but when I do, can someone tell me which room on the map is the safe room? I read the post above by lenrodman (great post btw), and it mentions a safe room. Can anyone tell me which it is so I can just camp that spot?

Thank you =P

The safe room is the room with the coffer pop point right in the middle of H-8. There's a semi-secret unmarked door on the eastern wall that leads into it.

Thank you so much for the reply. I have the key finally, now I'm just going to get WHM to 25 tonight so I can invis my way to the room.

Temple of Uggalepih

This place is pure hell. I don't like it, alot of people don't like it. It's mean, difficult, and annoying, not to mention its almost impossible to find a safe spot to recast Invis and Sneak, but hopefully this will make the place a little more bearable.

Key Droppers:
Temple Bee - Found mine off this
Hover Tank
Tonberry Stabber
Tonberry Maledictor
Tonberry Pursuer
Tonberry Dismayer

Now, some info on these tough guys.

Temple Bee's can Sharp Sting, Final Sting and Pollen. Sharp sting does about 150-200. Pollen cures itself for around 500hp. Final Sting is a suicide attack, I believe it hits you for the amount of HP it has left, then it dies. I've seen it do as low as 400 and as high as 850.

Hover Tanks have HUGE magic resistance, so don't bother using any BLM on them. They use Double Ray, which can do up to 300 if I remember correctly. They also use Battery Charge, I think that raises their Magic Damage. They use a 3rd Special skill but don't remember what it is. They also do not agro, unless you cast a spell near them. These guys also like to use Level 3 magic, including level 3 Ga spells, and Ancient magic as well. As a side note, these also drop RDM Testimony for some reason.

Tonberries are mean and dangerous. They all can curse, and they all can Throat Stab. Throat stab is STRONG. I have seen it do 1083dmg on myself, and 1108 on a Warrior my level also. Maledictors are BLM so they will use Ancient magic, and Pursuers are Ninjas and use Utsusemi and other Ninjutsu. Not sure what the other guys are.

I suggest a party 58-60. Make sure you have a THF cause without one, can take a while to get a key.

To get to the area you need to fight these things, head into Temple from the main entrance in the Jungle. Follow the left wall all the way. You will have to open 1 door, but you should be able to take invis off, open it, walk in and recast invis before you get attacked. Continue following the left wall and you will eventually zone back outside. Re-invis and follow the right wall over to another entrance to the Temple. You should pull everything to the stairs and fight it there, but be carefull not to cast spells to close to the Hover Tanks.

Coffer Locations:

You can do this part by yourself, I did by subbing RDM and taking some prism powders and sneak oils for times I needed it faster then a cast. I also brought a Warp Scroll. If you don't go alone, make sure you have a full party so you can actually kill stuff if you need to, or a WHM, RDM, or BLM/WHM to keep you invis'd and sneak'd.

To get to the coffer area, enter the Temple from the same entrance from the Jungle, but this time follow the right wall all the way, there are no doors this time, so just invis and run through until you zone out. Once outside, follow the right wall again to another entrance to the Temple.

Now you are in the correct area. You will need to keep Invisible AND Sneak on in here, because there are Rumble Crawlers in certain areas of this place.

Head in and take a right and go down the stairs, and there will be a wooden gate. You can either A: fight the stuff on the stairs to make it safe to open the gate, or B: wait for some higher levels to come by and open it.

As far as I have seen, you have to open a door to get to every coffer spot so here is how I did it, and the path I took. After the wooden gate, forward a little and take a right. There is a coffer spot behind the first door on your right (G-7). Face the door and use tab to cycle through the targets in the room.

Continue on down the hall and walk right up to the wall at the end. Use tab to cycle through the targets on the other side of the wall for the coffer at (I-7). Then go down the hall to the left and take a right to another door. Face this door and tab to cycle through the targets for the coffer on the other side at (E-8).

Now go all the way back to the wooden gate and go down the other path. Take a right and face the door and tab through the rooms targets for the coffer at (G-8). As a side note this is where I found mine.

Turn around to face the square structure behind you. Use tab to see if the coffer is inside that center area H-8. I have no idea how to get into this spot.

Continue the way you were going and take a right, then take another right down the hall a bit. There are 2 more doors on your left and 2 more on the right. The 2nd door on your right has a coffer spot in it (G-9). Use the tab method again.

Turn around and go back down the hall and take a right, then down the hall a little and take another right. Go up to the door and check the room for the coffer with your new friend, the tab method(G-10).

Turn around and head down the hall in front of you. There will be a door guarded by a Temple Guardian, or the door will be open. If the guardian is there, all I can suggest is wait for a higher level party to come through and kill it to get the door open. If its open, run in and look for the coffer at (I-10) and in the hallway in the back right of the room (J-11).

Now check all the spots on the way back if you haven't found the coffer yet.

When you find the room that contains the coffer, you can go about this 3 ways. You can try to open the door from a distance and invis yourself and run in quickly, then take invis off to trade the coffer to the chest and use warp scroll to get out before you die *hard to do btw*. If you have a party, you can kill the stuff in the area and then in the room. Or, what I did, try the first way, fail horribly and get agroed, charge the chest, open the coffer, and warp out with 44hp remaining. I was being hit by 4 tonberries and a water elemental pet, and they didn't interupt my warp scroll, so I believe they are uninteruptable.

Note I did not go over a strategy for sitting in the safe room for the coffer, cause you don't need a strategy for that, and I believe it to be a waste of time. 1-3 hours > days and days.

Please please PLEASE do yourself a favor and either print the maps below or draw your own. Map combined with my walkthrough you should be able to find every single spot with ease.

Okay, this walkthrough is very good, but some things need to be corrected.

The coffer locations and direction to get to them are all correct.

However, you ONLY need invisible (Prism Powder). The crawlers do not aggro by sound. I don't even think they aggro at all. I remember running past them when sneak and invisible were out and I still didn't aggro them.

Also, I am on PS2, and the Tab key method (to check behind doors) doesn't work. After about a day of using Tab with no success, I took invisible off and opened one of the granite doors. Keep in mind that I had used Tab key beforehand to try and select targets behind the door, but the Tab key selected no targets. However, to my surprise when I opened the door, the room was filled with mobs. After all that time and money, the Tab key method didn't work at all! I can only speculate that the Tab key method was a "glitch" and SE fixed it in one of the updates or that being on the PS2 was the problem. At any rate, not even the F8 key works.

Lastly, do not hunt for the coffer box alone! Please read the previous sentence again then skip this one. It is futile! Having to turn off invisible to check inside the doors (since the Tab key method doesn't work) is pure suicide. My advice is to get a high level helper to check the coffer locations for you while you wait at the entrance. When found, put on invisible, get the helper to open the wooden door for you while you are invisible, go to the coffer location, let the helper open the door and then get the armor. Get out as best you can quickly. I got lucky and did just that. A high level WHM named Liena, God bless her heart, helped me get the armor after about a day and a half of frustration soloing that hellhole.

ok the culminationof these two posts is right on. I have since my last post gotten this coffer. St ill not knowing the way to the spawn point there was a very nicehigh lvl sam in the temple that decided to help my party out. Well ne way we got the key for both me and the smn that was in the pt.

Coffer hunt time /sigh. My orriginal plan was to use sneak to get up to each of the doors, check them, and run my wonderful train of mobs back to the entrance. Very stupid idea as it did eventually get me killed. I ended up gettin my lvl 73 blm friend Fishie(he is lvl 75 now) to get me through this are he kept sneak on me and opened doors and all that fun stuff. i eventually found the coffer in the room with the npc tonberry's i was ablse to safely drop invis and grab it. i even waited for the blm to do some (still safe) b4 he gave me warp2. As a side note you do not need sneak down here as the crawlers do not agro at all
sigh

this thing is a pain in the --- to get. My sam is currently lvl 57. I have yet to even get the key for this place. I have brought two groups through this place both times i went i met with a lot of resistance. sneak or invis would fail and we would have to escape out multiple times. I have never gotten to the mobs that drop this key. I hear that the coffer itself is also a pain to get. This coffer can spawn in some of the most inconvenient places possible... Well wish me luck im off to try again.
