Mission Orders

The Rites of Succession will be held at the cathedral in Northern San d'Oria. You are to report there for guard duty.

Walkthrough

First, talk to any gate guard to accept the mission. Once you have accepted the mission, head to Chateau d'Oraguille to receive a cutscene.

Now, form a party and head to Fei'Yin. Upon your arrival, you will receive a cutscene. Once you have finished the cutscene, make your way to Qu'Bia Arena. Buff, and enter the shimmering circle. The battle is divided in to two parts:

Part 1: In the first part, there are 11 enemies -- 10 orcs and 1 Orcish Warmachine.

Upon first entering, the PLD will need to round up all the enemies so that the BRD, BLMs, and RDMs can sleep them. Because there are 15 enemies, there is a good chance that AoE sleeps will miss one or two, so it is important to have backup sleepers. The orcs all go down quickly, so our strategy was to kill them first, and work on the Orcish Warmachine last.

IMPORTANT: leave one of the weak orcs alive and slept. Once there is only that orc left, the mages should cure everyone and rest to full. Once everyone is rested, kill the last orc--that will trigger the transition to part 2.

Part 2:

For part 2, Prince Trion will come to fight along side you. The fight is against 3 tougher orcs ...

If Trion dies, then you lose the fight, so the WHM's primary responsibility will be to keep Prince Trion alive. Each Orc will use his respective 2-hour. The general order that you want to kill in is BLM >> DRK >> PLD. Unfortunately, Trion will choose whatever he wants to choose, so if he goes off to attack another orc, everyone must immediately drop what they are doing and focus on the one that he chooses to fight. He likes to spam Savage Blade, so the only real challenge here is keeping him alive.

Once you have finished the battle, head to Chateau d'Oraguille for a cutscene, then head to the door in King Ranperre's Tomb for another cutscene, then finally back to Chateau d'Oraguille to complete the mission and receive Rank 10, 100,000 gil, and a San d'Orian Flag (furnishing).

Once you have completed the mission, head back to Northern San d'Oria to receive one last cutscene.

did this last night with a 63whm(me) 62pld, 73mnk, 71 rdm, 75 smn, 72 drk

first off all if any one says a lvl 62 pld cant tank this thell them to eat ****....

it took us 2 trys to complete this.... first time i sleepga the orcs, and the smn was subbing brd and was gonna sleep after me, but he was never able to get it to stick.. so we had a total whipe out....

second run and our seuccesful run... we came up with this plan...pld run in get all aggro.. rdm pulls one back towards the exit. and keeps it slept away from the rest.... pld vokes war machine...smn uses astral flow... pld uses invincible... astral flow again, then i wouls sleepga them, then one more astral flow... well the plan was working good untill invicible didnt take hate cause levitation never died... so i just sleepga the orcs.. mean while the pld was tanking the war machine. and the mnk used its 2hr on it as well. the war machine died before a second astral flow was able to be used. but the second astral flow did finish off all the orcs.. besides the one that the rdm pulled...we all rested up while the rdm played with the final orc, then we slaughtered it..
when we got to trion part we waited for him to attack...and just slept the remainder orcs...trion was almost killed once, but besides that it went smoothily... the first part is definatly the harder part
Pretty decent fight

Just did this about a week ago, it's an easy fight if you know what you're doing.

1st fight
=========
After buffed up, have the tank and sleeper sleep the orcs, then go after the warmachine first, since it can cast Curaga and will wake up any stray orc it hits, also make sure that the sleeper moves away from slept mobs (there's a lot of open space in this arena)

After the warmachine is out of commission, have the tank call off what orc to fight, they're very easy to fight and weak, be warned they can do 2H abilities depending on thier job. After all but 1 is down, keep the last mob slept and rest up for the next fight.

2nd fight
=========
This isn't too difficult, but you need the sleeper and tank to get moving ASAP since Trion will go after the orcs himself.

Have the sleeper do his job and have the tank voke off the mob Trion's facing off against, usually the orc on the left (White magic users can heal trion)

They can use 2Hs also, the left is a DRK, Warlord Rojgnoj is a PLD, and the right is a BLM

The hardest, and 2nd orc you'll face probably is Warlord Rojgnoj, he's not a threat, but stronger compared to his left and right hand men and the orcs you fought in the first fight.

After you cleaned them out, just do a few cutscenes and you're done.

Just finished this mission. Setup was:
WAR75/NIN37
MNK71/WAR35
BRD75/WHM37
THF68/WAR34 (me)
RDM75/BLM37
RNG70/NIN35

First time in, we lost because we tried to kill 14 orcs first, then the warmachine, then rest, then...yaddayadda. The RDM and BRD could not, for the life of them, keep the warmachine slept. End result: wipe, wait 35 minutes for R3.

Second time in, we carted the warmachine off to one side of the arena and pounded on it while the BRD kept the horde slept. This worked much better. After we rested and polished off the last orc, Trion showed up and went straight for the DRK, and the Warlord and BLM followed soon after. We win, huzzah, we're done, goodbye.
So... if you're retarded... and:

you throw away your Rank 10 Flag...

Is there any way to get it back?

I had quit, and at the time, it was a permanent decision. And pretty much one of the best decisions I ever made.
Unfortunately, I thought it would be cool to /toss all these things I'd spent so many countless hours acquiring.
One being this mission's reward.
I've already speculated to myself, so I'm not looking for "try it and find out" or "I think..."
I'd like a definite, 100% proof-positive answer.

Can the flag-reward be obtained a second time?

If not... I need to figure out how to de-lvl my rank LOL

nah, I'll switch allegiance. The little 10 looks great and all, but once I hit 56k CPs, and get my mini-flee-coat, I'm movin!

did this last night.. party setup was nin75, drk70, sam70(me), rdm73, blm75, rdm65(main healed)
this was one of the easiest things we've ever done. the orcs described are definitely pushovers. i straight tachi: gekko oneshotted one.. and the machine was a chump too.. once we got to the trion part, he attacked the right-hand first then went for the left.. he didnt actually "spam" savage blade.. but he did use it.. once. it was quite mediocre. but nonetheless cool. (he only used it on the warlord.

Last night I was in a party of ppl who seemed to be a bit jealous that I am a lvl 52 RDM at rank 9. I was told by many that it wouldn't be impossible for me to do the mission but it would be hard. Granted I like the challenge but they didn't seem to agree. I was kicked from the party all of a sudden at the arena after getting these ppl together for 4 days doing 7-10. I feel used. I made some statements to other ppl which in turn said that they would help me get there. At the present time I am lvl 52 Rank 9. 2. They died after trying many times . I was happy about it . Then they copped a plea and made statements like they were doing me a favor. I made sure to let them know that they are the ones who truly lost. It should've been an honor to get RANK 10 with a lvl 52 RDM who worked so hard to get there.

fight was a joke!

we went in thinking it was going to be tough and ended up being a joke.
setup= war/nin drk/war sam/war smn/whm blm/whm blu/nin

we did the usuall tank run in a aggro all mob for first phase. blm proceeded to sleepga. took down the warmachine first which was a joke. then took down the rng orc with no problems at all. our war solod it pretty much. then all 4 of the dd proceeded to solo our own orc until one was left. kept it alive by sleeping it and constantly voking to keep hate off the blm. MP up to full, proceeded to extinguish last orc. phase one done in like 4 minutes >.>

phase 2 we kinda waited a bit so smn could do his avatar buffs... stoneskin up! war went after warlord orc as trion went for him first. 25% through the big boss i decided ***** this... these orcs are absolute joke. me and the drk decided to duo the orc blm nm and dropd him with absolute ease. JOKE! war damn near solod the big boss. last orc got RAPED.

all in all a success. our team did well finishing this fight in a mere 13min. wasting time healing and buffing... which wasnt needed at all >.> but like anything "better to be safe than sorry"

thank you to Kasim/Sierge/Reiyan/Pecotam/Mirked for kickin some serious ****

If he really worked hard to get there and for the last mission gathered everyone together, just to have them dump him at the last second, he's the victim - not the other way around.

Grats on having such a high rank at a low level.

A lvl 52 character at rank 10 is the same as a lvl 40 at rank 6. You're a leech, plain and simple and that's what people think when they see a lower-lvl char with such a high rank. Most ppl struggle to get through these missions and quests and they're at a higher lvl than you. Stop whining and gain some levels so you can at least be useful.

If level 60s can do this mission and contribute then I don't see why a level 56 Rdm can't be helpful. I bet if he was a Brd people would be happy to let him go along and trolls like you wouldn't be making comments about what he is and isn't capable of doing.

the first time we went 2 escape and 4 died all bcuzz we didnt know that the warmachine uses curaga f-king up everything cuzz he wakes all the other orcs, so the next fight we slept all the orcs and fought the warmachine away from the orcs, after that it was cake walk. For the 2nd part the pld assisted trion and everyone else fought the other 2, we didnt even sleep any of em. Trion was never hit, cuzz whatever he fights the pld who assisted him vokes it.

Just finished this last night... pt was:
67 DRK/THF
66 WAR/NIN
70 PLD/WAR
70 WHM/BLM
75 RDM/BLM

RDM was able to keep things slept well enough that it wasn't an issue. Trion actually went after Left/Right/Warlord so that wasn't too bad. Just be careful and it's not bad at all. I was the only one ever in danger, b/c I did a SA Spinning Slash closing light on the DRK.. and he didn't like it.

This is actually a fairly simple battle.
Setup was:
62 RDM/BLM
62 PLD/WAR
75 WHM/SMN
74 RNG/NIN
75 MNK/NIN
72 BRD/WHM

Well....then again, that is a crazy setup.
BRD slept stuff, rdm (me) healed enfeebles and helped sleep, pld attacked whatever trion did, mnk and rng just traded hate on whatever mob. It was really poetry in motion.
easier than it seems

This is for all those who get too wrapped up into things. Now this started as a 8-2 to 9-2 run, being that I had previously done 8-2 and got my figurines for 9-1 I just sat at Battalia island and waited about 2hrs.

The first party went in lv68-75(brd, rng, pld, blm, rdm, whm forget what lvl went with what job), they had a good enough strategy, kill warmachine then rng then others. Went good for them, they got to where trion joined them and it fell apart there. Apparently Trion died(automatic loss).

Second party enters this time lv63-75(blm X2, pld, whm, rdm & brd). This was my first go, I had sleepgaII(blm64) other blm63 didnt. First mistake I stepped into the battle field too far drew aggro 9 orcs raping me. I did manage to get sleepgaII off before I died tho(rng got the last hits in). I get R2 of course that helps none cause now im weakend and the other blm still doesnt have sleepgaII. Long story short we didnt kill any of the orcs.

As I said we had a full alliance two parties took their chance and lost, so now its the 3rd parties chance right? Nope first party wants to go again saying they have "The superior party". Also somewhere between us arriving at the bcnm and the 3rd go one of our whms falls asleep.

So, the original party that went first goes again. At this time the people in the third party are upset, understandable. We were asked to talk in /say originally when we first got there too, so there was a lil bit of chat goin on too. Honestly some people were hoping for them to lose. needless to say they did lose this time they couldnt keep themselves alive.

So they die and someone dlvls(loses weapon and some armor). Their just a lil passed mad, so are the others that have been waiting for a hour.

People are starting to argue and bicker about things not going well. The lv70 is hot that he deleveled, I'm just sitting quite thinking about how everyone says "It's just a game". I tell some of them it's not worth it to argue nothings getting accomplished. Nobody listens, eh life goes on.

At this point people have left/logged w/e. I drop pt and join the 3rd group. Pt setup is blm60(me), rdm69, pld65, whm60, mnk65, and drk67(notice none 70+). I'm looking at a strategy guide off KI seems good, except they say kill the rng(orc) then warmachine. That is the only thing I changed, I told them that if they can kill the warmachine quickly for me I would keep the rest slept. I didn't demand anything from them, before we went in I told them we're all 60+ you know your job nobody needs to tell you what to do. I also explained to them that we in fact had the best party setup out of the 3 groups.

Anyway they begin to thrash the warmachine, I sleep the rest. I was never resisted, but a couple times the rdm did have to backup sleep, nothing like 8 orcs comin after you after you sleep them. Warmachine goes down, next they put a beating on the rng. Now mind you I am not nuking at all only other spell im casting other than sleepga, sleepII, sleepgaII or sleep is drain. After rng goes down their just wasting the other 8 orcs and im sleeping the ones their not fighting. We saved one orc(sleep) and full rested.

Trion shows up(not that he was much help). Everyone was given an objective for the final 3 orcs. pld vs pld, whm focus on trion, blm sleep the non-active orc, rdm mnk&drk just beat down the orc trion was fighting. drk(orc) went down pretty smooth, then blm. Pld vs pld was goin good. Now were focusing on the pld at this point i'm nuking, only spells that did more than 30dmg was stoneIII and aeroIII. It started to look bad for us towards the end, he had a sliver of life and our pld, drk & rdm go down. Mnk is tanking now, me and whm have about 100mp between us. We came real close to losing, I popped a yag drink rested till I had enough for AeroIII did 300+dmg and the fight was over. Also somewhere in there we all 2hr'd except the whm.

This was not meant to be a walkthrough instead to try to tell people that things are not as hard as they apper to be. It's ok to stop and listen to others instead of just running your mouth all the time. It's ok to have your opinion, but it is not the only one that matters. There are people now that will be kicked out of LS's because of silly stuff and there is absolutely no reason to try to make it a personal issue because you got upset of 5mins. Hell im only lv64 whm was only 60 what right do we have to be rank10 except that we had a goal and made it happen.

Long post I am sorry, hope I can touch at least one person with this. Of course being that this is a forum for sandy 9-2 I will leave yall with this, it was a lot easier than what some people tried to make it out to be. I'm always up for a good fight (>^.^<)RAWR! enjoy.

We did this last night with 5 people from my LS and A random BLM. PLD WHM NIN NIN DRK BLM so here's how we worked it. From the start I (73 PLD) ran in and aggroed all the mobs and pulled them all to one side next (73 NIN) ran in and voked the warmachine and pulled him to the opposite side of the room, cue BLM elemental seal and sleepga since the rng cant be slept the second nin took him while we all killed the Machine "HAVE STUN READY" machine cast curaga and will wake the sleeping mobs up. After the machine we took the rng, when rng is dead the rest most anyone in your pt can solo or kill them one at a time until one is left. Sleep the last mob full heal and on too part 2 ,part 2 is easy if u do it right forget about controlling trion, all 3 tanks grabbed a mob we had the NIN's solo Warlord and the PLD while we killed the BLM. Also Trion (his sword an shield O_O) will heal himself and if u keep the mobs busy theres no need to even worry about him next take out the PLD and then Warlord. If u wanna sleep them I suggest u take out the BLM first his ga spells are rough and Bio III is never a good thing. We did this twice and Trion always seems to go for the PLD figures though right us pally's hate competition. ^^ Hope this helps oh and we did this with no rdm or brd BLM had Demon cloak, WHM and myself just had a few drinks and we were fine.

The most important thing is to attempt to control who Trion will attack. You can control this to an extent...

Our strategy was to quickly Sleep II the DRK so that the overlord and BLM would run up, and Trion would hot the overlord since he was closest. Then we would kill the BLM in about 2 seconds then all concentrate on orc, with second sleeper watching DRK the whole time. I (BLM) actually did little fighting my first time through, just watched Trion. Since he's NPC I had to manually type in each /ma command (i.e. /ma "Cure III" Trion).

This mission is not hard unless Trion attacks the DRK.

ok heres some info for u ... i done this a cpl nights ago party was pld74 nin75 rdm70 blm74 whm61 whm59.....

my main is a rdm but we couldnt find any whms so i changed to mine and got a friend that also had a higher whm (reason of lower lvls)

but anyhow the pld ran up got all the orcs and brought them all the way back to the entrance then blm slept them all in one hit. we killed the stonelauncher first ..there was one orc(the ldr guy) that wouldnt sleep so our rdm kept him occupied until launcher was dead. After that pld and nin picked um off one by one we got to the last one and slept it (tho we really didnt need to rest all had full mp) killed it started 2nd round.. the other whm watched prince only and i took on the pt the fights id have to say were a joke they were so easy pld worked on one with rdm and nin and prince took on the other and blm nuked both ....our time was 25mins (i know not great) but hey we won no deaths no 2hrs oh with pld and nin i barely even had to cure ...7-2 id have to say is a way harder mission then 9-2....anyhow i hope this is helpful..

oh and btw a friend of mine went in a pt after us they had a 63rng 75nin 62rdm 66rdm 70blm 75pld and they won also (took 28mins but they still won^^)

so another words for u people wondering u dont have to be 70+ to beat this just need good tanks
3rd try's the charm

pld, drk, sam, whm, blm, rdm

the strategies below are good, except one thing. they don't account for the warmachine spamming curaga, totally nullfying sleepga everytime. Our strategy, thought up by our rdm, was to have the sam, me, pull all orcs to one side with blm and rdm following, while the rest took the warmachine to the other side. They took our the WM, and i soloed the rng orc plus a few, blm kept sleeping, so on and so forth.

The rest is basic bcnm play, and the below strategies worked just fine. Just wanted to give a tip about the first part. good luck

we did this the other night our set up was
pld/war(me)
drg/war
rng/nin
rdm/whm
blm/whm
rdm/blm
we went in rdm buffed us we used our food, then when everyone was ready I ran in getting aggro so blm could cast sleepga we took down the warmachine then after that we all took a orc and kill them when we got down to one orc we kept it asleep and everyone rested.
now the 2nd round wow we ran in blm tryed to sleep them but they all resisted =/ so I took the drk, drg voked the pld then went after the blm, the rng and drg took the blm down pretty fast but the pld killed the drg b4 the rdms could cure him at this point the drk was about at 1/2 hp and used his 2hr I ran out of range.
the pld was still running around he got to the rdm who just reraised then he got the other rdm at this point we thought we lost it but the rng used barrage on the drk killing him, I voke the pld flash getting hate(didnt work to well) so I 2hrd to get him on me the rdm who reraised chainspell raised the other rdm and drg and we won it with 3 people still weakend ^^.
That was the most fun I've ever had in a BCNM, even tho we came so close to loseing it everyone stuck to it and we pulled it off.
omgwtffun!

Did this one with Pld74, Mnk75, Sam75, Whm75, Blm75 (me) and Rdm68.

One thing that was interesting is that, at the start, all the "normal" orcs are 1 long row. So, we had the Pld go in and "collect" them all. After that, I ES sleepga2 them. The unfortunate thing was the Rng Orc that I targetted didn't move with the other Orcs. So, my sleepga2 missed most of them. I immediately cast sleepga and luckily it stuck.

The Rdm silenced the War machine and the rest the party destroyed it pretty quick. After that the Rng orc went down. After that, it was pretty easy. Either sleepga2, sleepga, or sleep2 kept them all in deep slumber. The Rdm slept any Orcs I missed. We kept 1 "normal" Orc asleep and we rested to full.

The 2nd part was a bit chaotic, since 2 of the Orc didn't sleep. So, we pretty much ended up killing both of them at the same time. After that, it was easy.

The "interesting" thing was that I didn't nuke at all for the fight. I was just the designated sleeper (with the Rdm backing me up). The fight was easier than I thought, but our party was pretty high leveled.

I did this twice tonight. No record set at all, but we did prevail. Someone wanted our help when we finished and offered to pay us 100k each. We each gave the person who sat out 20k, so that made it 80k.

One person didn't accept it, otherwise the person who sat out would have gotten 100k lol. So, that was our night. 180k for each of us.

Beat this last night, went three rounds. First group consisted of 1 70 pld 1 70 whm, 1 71 whm, 1 68 brd 1 70 rng and 1 75 thf. The toughest of all the battles, probably because we had no clue what to expect and I was the lone sleeper. First part went kinda sketchy, a few close moments, but we eventually got threw it and rested up before moving to part 2. Part two was going well, I was sleeping both the left and right hands. I was casting ballad in between when I got unlucky and the left hand woke up and hit me twice with two critical shots and killed me. Luckily with a paladin 2 hour and a whm 2 hour only myself and the 71 whm died and we won.

Round 2 we swapped some folks out and had 70 pld, 71 whm, 75 rdm 68 brd, 65 bst and 70 rng. Much smoother this time with a second sleeper. Makes all the difference in the world. First part was incredibly easy with the rdm handling 5-6 orcs and me handling the rest. Got to second round and rdm was in charge of left hand and I was in charge of right hand. Unfortunately trion went for left hand first which turned out to be a good thing as the melee tore him up while pld tanked the gold looking guy. Easy win.

Round three was 70 pld, 63 whm, 75 rdm, 68 brd, 75 bst, and 70 rng. Smoothest yet, had no trouble at all as most of us had gone a couple times by now. Finished in 17 minutes as the previous attempts had taken 23 and 21 respectively.

I'd say take two sleepers in, it will make life much easier for everyone involved. Take someone in to tank and fill in the rest with damage dealers.

Finally did M9-2 2 nites ago, here's how it went:

1)70 RDM
2)70 PLD
3)75 DRK
4)67 BRD
5)75 BLM
6)67 PLD

1st attempt: fight warmachine first..but warmachine curaga, mobs woke up, BRD died...then all died(lucky we have a 6x WHM outside BC waiting to raise 2 us)

2nd attempt: fight NM orc 1st, BLM + RDM silence warmachine....win part 1; part 2 nothing special, silence BLM Orc and kill BLM Orc first, no sweat.

just thought to share my experience.

Just finished all this. Im so proud to be San D'Orian. The battle itself was rather easy. I pretty much soloed the BLM orc as a 62 Samurai. Our PT setup was 75PLD, 75BLM, 71DRK, 63RDM, 62SAM (me), 61WHM.

First bit was rather easy, though at the beginning our BLM almost died, but he quickly got it under control with Sleepga2 and Sleepga from the RDM. We killed everything in this order: Warmachine (I stunned it with Hobaku when it tried to use Curaga2) >> RNG >> Clanmembers. We saved 1 and rested to full, then kicked his ***.

We started the other bit, and Trion, being the genius he is, attacked the not-BLM Orc. We started fighting it, then the BLM orc started getting rowdy, so I spammed Tachi: Yukikaze 5 times and he died. All the while our WHM was keeping Trion and our PLD alive, so that was safe as well. Next we moved onto the orc Trion was fighting, killed it no problem, and then moved onto the warlord. Who died quite quickly.

There was much rejoicing. :)

Thanks to all that showed up throught my week of missions, if you read this, you all did great, Im glad to have fought beside each and every one of you! If you see me on Odin, let me know (character name is Dryn).

<See you again!>

Yo. Its Hex. I was part of Dryn's Alliance that went from 7-2 through 9-2.

This fight wasn't as hard as people made it out to be. the Level 70+ got scared and invited outside help because they didn't want to "carry" anyone pre 65 in the battle.

So this first group went and I think all but their whm was 70+. And they had the hardest time.

Every other group had people pre 65 and it went smooth except for one death on a Black Mage in one fight when the Orcs all woke at once.

I just want everyone to know. It doesn't all have to do with "Oh I'm high level so I'm Better than you".

It helps to do team work. Our PLD helped because he was 75. The tank is key. a Higher Tank should be used if possible. Other than that if you have Smart People the fight will go smooth as long as everyone is 60 and up.

Just try to make sure you have a back up Sleepga just in case. That is why we took 2 RDM instead of a whm because one of our RDM didn't have Sleepga yet.

During my fight We were 74-75 PLD, 73 DRK, 62 THF (me), 60 RDM, 75 RDM and I forget the Level of our BLM.

I believe the rdm and pld were both 75 or near it.

We beat it in around 19 minutes. The hardest part was killing the PLD when Trion went after him second and left the BLM Orc running around. Our PLD had one scare after an attack from the PLD Orc but no real problems.

Good Luck to all of those that do this. Don't freak out. Don't lose your Cool. The battle only seems hard when it's really not. Just work together and You'll do just fine.
