True Will - NIN AF3  

Seriously. Don't even try to half-asp it.

I went with my beloved lvl 75 MNK/DNC combo and regular DD gear and got my hind-end handed to me twice. I even used Hundred Fists and still lost.

I ended up having to switch to lvl 75 THF/DNC, grabbed every evasion piece I could (total of +38), used the FoV manual's enhancements for all they were worth, built my TP to 300% and popped the mobs.

I killed the WHM first which ended up bringing my TP down to just about nothing (the BRD brought my enhancements down to almost nothing too via Magic Finale). I hoped I would be able to start bringing the TP back up on the BRD, but could only manage to hold steady thanks to the MNK. I killed the BRD and started on the MNK. I did pretty well until he popped Hundred Fists, but managed to hold out without even 2 houring. After that it was pretty much cake.

The key to the fight seems to be evasion and preparation. They can hit pretty hard, but if they can't touch you, you should be able to win.

Just did this today, and I'll go over the Yhoator Jungle encounter:

Had a 75 Whm help out with this and I went as a 72 War. Got to ??? spot and used Powder Boots, then quickly selected ???, in which I then ran close to the Rancor zone. Only main NM followed and started bashing him away. Got him down to 40% and he used Hundred Fists. As soon as he used it, I zoned to Rancor zone, and then zoned back out. By this time, NM's 2 hour was gone so I started bashing him away and finished him off. Once he went down, I went to ??? and got the Box. Pretty easy with the extra help.

I went there as Thf/Nin geared in evasion and it was cake. Poped them, zoned, came back, killed the monk. He didn`t hit me once, he got through some shadow but i alway had time to recast. Even Hundred Fists didn`t hit me at all, not even a lost shadow. Then i got back to ??? but the Whm was still roaming around. He agroed me so i killed it. This time i wasn`t paying to much attention so 1 race ability(don`t get the name i was distracted lol) got me down to 900/1100. Recovered with bloody bolt, killed it and clicked the ???.. that probably was the easyest AF3 ever lol

And on top of it i went to Kuftal got key in 2 kill then coffer was at the 1st spot i checked XD.

A PLD (75) and I (75WHM) did this just a few minutes ago, too easy. I was on my whm, clicked on the ??? and the three mobs spawned. PLD voked the mnk and the bonze was still on me, though I don't recall the last mob as ever having even engaged me. We ran to the Den of Rancor and zoned in, then immediately zoned back in. All but the MNK had depopped. I enfeebled and healed a bit, but even Hundred Fists wasn't much of a worry for the moderately equipped PLD. Just healed through HF, I Banish III'd his last bit of health, ran back to the ??? and got the key item.

i was browsing through all this but didnt find pos on the coffer chest.Whats the (pos)s on chest pop? and by the way this af5

I poppped these guys as 75 THF/NIN

Ran semi close to zone and started killing WHM, got it about half dead and was getting really annoyed with getting finale'd then slowed and elegy, so I zoned.

Rested up, went back out BRD aggroed kill him, got 34 exp. Others depopped touched ??? again and got trick box. Guess it doesn't matter which one you kill.

People say ninja af is hard im rdm75 blu 75 nin 50 bst 31[lol] so maybe it was easier for me...im sure the coffers and the hakama arehard if you have no 75. But this final fight is actually a wimp , even if your a lv58 or so ninja. i came as rdm..pulled them..ran.. to den of rancor buffed up counted to 15 (as someone said) came out and fought..hundred fists i graved and bio'd ran...and so on. now how could ninja do this?
First come Nin/thf for flee...spawn and flee but make sure they follow you...count to 15 and rezone. get the nm and start fighting...once it hundred fists, since you cant grav , just zone to den of rancor for a bit (as someone previously said) and then zone back out and finish. How do i know this works since i came as rdm

Solo as 75PLD/WAR but it was close, came with DD gear by mistake. with hindsight would have subbed NIN since the MNK mob that followed me to rancor zone hit slow but hard. ended up using invincible at end. no meds used apart 1 fish mithkabob.

I solo'd this as rdm/nin, it was very easy.

Run out there as rdm, put up shadows to pop the mobs and popped them. Run all 3 straight to den of rancor, when inside I refreshed myself, re-shadowed, the usual buffs - basically while counting to 15(seconds). Zoned back out, walked down the tunnel a little bit and there was the mnk, alone, still claimed to me and he ran at me... the other 2 depopped. Fought the mnk for a bit, he was pretty easy. When he 2hr'd I just trained him back into den of rancor, waited about 5 seconds, then ran back out. His HP% didn't regen at all and from what I could tell, his 2hr was over. He died very quickly at that point. Ran back up to the ??? and that was it for the hard part.

Hope that helps anyone who want to solo or get this overwith easy.

I did this as 74DRK/37NIN last night, popped the ??? with sneak on and ran for the Den of Rancor zone, all 3 followed. Waited 20 secs zoned out and ran half way down the corridor to find Kappa Akuso (MNK) still red on his own waiting for me. Killed him with a little difficulty, DRK evasion isn't great!

Use Stun and drain when the timers are up and try to cast ichi when your on your last ni shadow. When he uses Hundred Fists, you better run (I just zoned into Den of Rancor for ~30secs). Survived with 620HP, but he was hitting me for 140+ when shadows were down. Only got 39xp lol, went back up to check and the other 2 had despawned, clicked the ??? and got the box.

I'm sure a 70+ MNK/NIN/THF wouldn't have any problems with this, he's not the most accurate.

I got my Trick Box by defeating Kappa Biwa solo. My first try was at night, click the ??? and 3 sahagins popped up. Zoned to Den of Rancor 5x until I only got one agroing me. Last time i zoned back the White mage was the only one left (didn't know it was the white mage at first, but fought it anyways, got tired of zoning back and forth). Fought it for 10 min until it did Benediction so i just 2-houred and try again.

Went back but its during daytime now, I couldn't wait anouther 30 minutes so I thought why not try. Went back and popped them, zoned to Rancor and luckily when i zoned back the Bard was the closest one to me and the monk was too far to agro.

Defeated the bard with 238 hp left after using 5 Hi-potions. Fight was a little more than 10 minutes, I think. It would have been easier during night.
The bard resisted a lot of my enfeebles. Didn't macro in any INT equipment and I don't have my head piece yet, going to wait until I feel like soloing the crabs in bohyada tree. Haven't partied there so i don't have the coffer key.
Definitely soloable at 57 with Scorpion Harness.

In case anyone might have wondered, you can Solo this on NIN70+ too. So if you wanna just wait til 70's you can do it without any help. Depending on which Sahagin follows you to the zone determines how difficult the fight will be.

I followed what most people said to do:

1. Pop the Sahagins, run to the zone.
So I popped them, zoned to Ifrits, keeping Akuso in sight range. He was the only red/claimed mob when they spawned, and when Irezoned in, he was there waiting for me. The other two didnt seemto follow.

2. Fight one-on-one.
Since only 1 of them hung around, I fought the MNK(Akuso) I subbed RDM for a little versatility, and curing power if I needed it. I got hit maybe 2 times, his accuracy is pretty bad. But when he hits you, he'll knock you for about 100+ unbuffed. During the entire fight Akuso used only 3 abilities. Bubble(Shell) Hydroball(Guessing AOE Attack), and Hundred Fists. I kept him blinded, slowed,and paralyzed. All of them stuck pretty well, and made the fight about 30% easier from what I could tell.
Gear-wise, I waited until nighttime so I could reap the full benefit, of the Ninja Kyahan and Hakama. I had about +44 Evasion on me, which is still pretty average, and he missed 90-95% of his swings. I also used an evasion torque for the added skill. When he used Hundred Fists it kind of scared me, because he was missing so fast, but if he gets your shadows down, there is a real danger there. So, keep your shadows up at all times.

3. All in all, easy fight. I headed back to the ??? at I-7 and claimed the old trick box.

but yeah just like the "Subject" says WARNING to all who are doing this nin af3 solo, sneak popping this does not work anymore. I tried this with my 55 nin and oh man was i a dead hume. :-| but yeah only way is pop the 3 nm's and run for your life to ifrits cauldron area dodging goblins etc. I was able to outrun the other 2 sahagins while it was night time and avoid goblin aggro and the luckily the WHM Sahagin was the only one that still followed me. I fought the whm till it was 70% hp and then oh man i didnt look behind me, a goblin shot an arrow at me ahahh. I ran for ifrits cauldron and zoned back out only to see the WHM sahagin curing himself back to 94% -_-;) At the time i had 62 hp and popped my Hi-pots to get some HP back and luckily a SMN who was doing the same quest saved my ass hahaha. we took it down and we both ran to the ??? and got our prize. Good luck to you all and once again the sneak > pop 3 nm's dont work anymore, i think SE fixed it so WATCH OUT

to anyone wanting to do this quest, do the following,

pop nms make a dash to Den of Rancor, when you come back try to keep 1 of the nms busy, wait for the others to despawn and kill the remaining one,

I recomend you kill the Bard, as a 75 BST CC will owning that bard fishy, i actually had help during the fight, we were planning on killing all three,

First off i did not get this till i was already 75 nin didnt care for it much. I soloed all 3 mobs as nin/rdm. First i Sneak poped steped back, then sneak pulled one by one pullint the one nearest to me facing me didnt aggro anytime but i did have to kill fast so they did not despawn. It works you can sneak pull/pop and it can be soloed

Just to add I tried this twice last night, once with Silent Oil sneak up, and once with Mage sneak up. The Sahagins aggrod both times.

This fight is hard solo and only for one reason. I put my sneak oil on, and everytime all 3 would aggro uppon spawning them. So if there is a difference between mage sneak and oil sneak, i dont know. But what I did to win was put on all my defense gear, vitality. and physical damage down gear, was on 75War/37Nin btw. Then I popped them and ran my butt over to Den of Rancor and zoned. Made the zone wit 1003/1347 HP. Waited a sec, recasted Utsusemi and rezoned. I shot at Biwa who was walking in the tunnel back to the spawn point to pull him back. However he linked with Bonze. Ok. np. i just rezoned. at least i seperated the 2 from the evil Akuso who hits HARD. So I recasted Utsusemi again and rezoned. This time Bonze aggroed me right at the zone. I figured what the hell, i had a single NM on me and it wasnt Akuso. So I started fighting with m 1003 HP and just kept shooting it with bloody bolts to rebuild my HP. I kept shadows up easy. He has bad accuracy and doesnt hit that hard. About 60-80 dmg when he connects but not often. After about 2-3 mins and at about 30% HP it used benediction. So i started working it down again which was no problem because I hit Mighty Strikes
and rampaged it which took it down quite a bit. it casted Dia II, flash, Curaga III at 20% HP after benediction but it didn't recover much HP, and slow. All of these where absorbed by the shadows. Easy fight just took about 5-6 mins. Like I said the hardest part is getting one by himself. After I killed Bonze though the other ones had long since despawned and I got my key item. Hope this helps.

Just soloed this today as a 75RNG/37NIN.. i perasonaly call BULsh*t on all 50ish nin's who say they can solo this. it took every thing i had to take this down and i have more evasion then a level 57 nin. i also had to pop 3 hi-pots to survive. i sneaked and pulled the brd. took him down survived with 30/1150 hp. so ya it's posible but i don't see any level 50's soloing this thing.

ok how r sum lvl 50 nin soloing then lvl 75mnk 66 brd andd lvl 75 drk get wiped and then a 75 whm solo are any of these story true or do their lvl change??

Solo the Kappa Biwa today with 57NIN/THF for 250 XP. I stacked lots of evasion gear, ate Jack-o-lantern, cast Jubaku and Kurayami and the Sahagin hardly hit me at all. It has 1 WS which goes through shadows though, so take note.

Another point to note, the sahagins don't link, but you have to be at maximum distance when pulling (I used Jubaku pull). Just try to stand far away and inch forward after each cast till the spell went off. If you are too close, all 3 will aggro when sneak wears off during pull. Thats what happened the first time round for me. Oh, and take note of the goblins roaming around the ??? point.

Was so easy, utsusemi is a god send.

I did have a kraken club tho, but i dont see why 2 darksteel's wouldnt do.

I just kept on hitting, didnt use a WS, waited for the other 2 to despawn, then went all out.

Didnt even touch my SS.

Well I lvled up nin to 50 a decided to do all my AF in one day(or constantly untill complete). Got my weapons thanks to the help from Linkk(75pld). Got my pants thanks to a comple random people on the ship. Got my feet from some help by my buddy Bigl(75nin). And had a leftover key for head in storage.

Now it's time for this fight, reading somewhere that a 69rdm/nin solo'd it i figured that i could do the same(65rdm). Instead of flying solo i brought my buddy Alill(62mnk) along for the ride. We OP warped to the jungle and ran towards the ??? and there was some fishes there, i thought they were normal mobs but... I was wrong, very wrong! They were the NM's for the fight already there and going crazy. They tore threw all my buffs in seconds and dropped me in under 30. I HP'd and went back, there was alittle taru DRG(lvl75) dead on the ground near the ???. Raised him up and threw English ~ Jap anese translation, learned that he was also doing this fight. So we (| Team up? |) and got ready for, my first, his second try.

It's real easy, with sneak on you won't get aggro from any of the others so don't worry. Sneak'd up and pulled the brd(the one on the right), well we murdered it and i went back up to the ??? and nothing. I was terribly confused and saw that there was still 2 of the NM's there. Figuring that the one on the left this time is easier then the middle one I pulled that one, MUCH harder then the brd(had to convert), finished him up, last one had despawned, went up and got my key item.

Note: It's not that terribly hard, i used most my magic on elemental and really didn't use it as if i would for a long term battle, but none the less if you don't have the fire power i had just conserve and you will be fine. Another thing, to avoid having to fight 2 of them take you time on the first one(which will give the others time to despawn).

i just duo'd the 1st part of this quest as a 57nin/28war and a whm friend (he's 60whm/30blm). i had just logged on, and had planned to go try this fight solo. i was on my way to the auction house to pick up a few potions, just in case i might need them, when i ran into my friend and asked him if he wanted to tag along. i warned him things could get ugly, but he thought i'd be fun to come anyway. we teleport yhoat and got to the ??? on the way there, as you could imagine, we got a little bit of aggro from gobs and coerls in the area. but they checked as easy prey, and of course we took them out with ease. we cleared the area around the ??? and talked about our strategy before i popped them. we sneaked up, and i told him we would be going after Kappa Biwa (bard). my friends job was basicly to keep me hasted, try to paralize and slow it, and obviously heal when needed. well lets just say things didnt go as planned. when i examined the ???, sure enough the 3 nm's spawned. i noticed they spawned on top of the little hill next to the rocks. i ran back to the tunnel where i had planned to pull the bard back and watched them for a bit. i was waiting for them to move around so i could maybe provoke or cast a spell on the brd. but they just sat there and didnt even flinch. after waiting for a little while and wondering if they'd ever move, being the curious and nosy whm my little taru friend is, he wanders over and stands right next to them. i guess his sneak wore off or something, but next thing i know all 3 of them jump off the hill and come after him. he turned around and came running back saying "oh s**t!!" =P. at this point i knew he was doomed so i quickly voked the bard off him, and ran the opposite direction heading towards the opposite tunnel. i ran a little way down, all along the nm was eating through my shadows (w/out me realizing it). when i finally turned and faced him, i recasted ni, and begun to battle it out with him. at this point im already at around 350hp or so, and my whm friend is laying face down somewhere. i was still worried if the other 2 sahagin would come after, but they never did. i'd say the bard hit me for about 130-150 per hit when he landed them. as i begun to fight the him, and already in red hp, i realized i had to stick with the battle plan to even have a chance to beat him. i casted jubaku, hojo, and kurayami on it, then continued to swing away. i couldnt believe how rediculously effective those enfeebs worked. he landed and elegy on me, and that kinda sucked. but next thing you know, my friend is back up. i didnt know he had reraise II up, and he rushed over to me and gave me cure IV right away. and of course, the mob turned and came straight at him while he was weakened. luckily he missed, and i regained hate. it was an exhilirating battle that lasted around 8 min or so (didnt time it, so im not sure). my friend didnt really get to enfeeb the fish, but he did a good job keeping me hasted. aside from the initial hits the brd landed, i dont think he hit me much. i got my key item, and now i have to go coffer hunting once again in good ol kuftal /sigh... special thanks to Jraja for being that whm

a friend of mine and myself (now a 74DRG) duoed all 3 NMs....she didnt sneak so we had to take all three.....exhilarating fight though...lol

The mob you have to kill is Kappa Biwa, well, atleast thats the easiest. Just finished soloing it.. Was a harsh fight lasted 10-15 mins, Subbed RDM and if I didn't I would've died, If you don't fight him at night time w/o good evasion gear you're toast (I'm an Enmity NIN so it kind of hurt when I lost shadows). Whenever you lose shadows you have to put them up quick because if it does Requiem V or Elegy on you you have to kite him around for a while until they wear off, NIN boots help a lot with this. He hits VERY hard 120 damage a normal strike and a 210 crit to a Elvaan 58NIN/29RDM. You MUST keep him Blinded, Paralyzed, and Slow'd at ALL times. I cannot stress this enough people, I didn't see his Slow wear off for a second and he started casting Victory March and he was attacking like a monk. You have to keep Paralyze on him so he can't cast stuff like Minne/March/Minuet, and Slow on him so he hits slow, slow enough to count your Utsusemi. I read a lot of the things here people said, and I thank you all. Rate ups for you ^^b. Anyway, yeah, I soloed Kappa Biwa (Biwas the BRD everyone) with 89/1038 HP and 3/99 MP left.
