Summary

Use the Ark Pentasphere at the La'Loff Amphitheater to confront and defeat all five Crystal Warriors simultaneously.

Walkthrough

You may either fight each Ark Angel individually or fight them all at once (which is this mission) to complete ZM14.

Talk to NPC Yve'noile in The Shrine of Ru'Avitau. Follow these steps to get into the BC for Divine Might.

1. See an event by examining an unmarked target in the main entrance of The Shrine of Ru'Avitau.

2. Obtain an Ark Pentasphere by trading Illuminink (drop from Cursed Puppet) and Parchment to the fountain in Ro'Maeve (note: Full Moon, 0:00-3:00, and clear weather)

3. Go to La'Loff Amphitheater (any entrance) and use ;Ark Pentasphere to confront and defeat all 5 Ark Angels (AA) simultaneously. 18 people are allowed into this fight.

4. After defeating the AAs, return to the unmarked target to receive your earring.

Warning: You can only collect ONE earring.

~~~~~~~~~~Strategy~~~~~~~~~~
AAs and their specials
1. Ark Angel TT (DRK/BLM)
Amon-Drive - area damage + Paralyze + Petrify
Manafont
Bloodweapon
Note: attacks in this order Magic -> WS -> teleport
2. Ark Angel MR (BST/THF)
Havoc-Spiral : area damage + Gravity + Sleep
Perfect Dodge
Charm
Resist-Gravity
Note: Does Perfect Dodge at low HP; can be gravitied, high evasion.
3. Ark Angel GK (SAM/DRG)
Jump : ranged damage + Bind + Blind
Call Wyvern
Meikyo Shisui
Note: Wyvern sleepable, 2hr blinkable.
4. Ark Angel EV (PLD/WHM)
Dominion-Slash : area damage + Silence
Shield Strike : Stun + hate reset
Resist sleep
Invincible
Benediction
Note: Uses Spirits Within. Can be bound/gravitied, do not fight directly.
5. Ark Angel HM (WAR/NIN)
Cross-Reaver : area damage + Stun
Double attack
Resist Bind
Mighty Strikes
Mijin Gakure
Note: At 50% HP or less, tends to use Mijin Gakure.
Order
1. PLD goes to center and gets aggro from all AAs, then taunts TT, everyone kill him.
(a) THF taunts MR runs to Shimmering Circle, RDM sleeps her pet, accompanies THF and they kite.
(b) 2 Blink tanks taunt GK and run to staircase, WHM + BRD accompany them. Fight it there. BRD sleeps GK's Wyvern. Mages stay on top of the staircase inside the corridor.
(c) PLD taunts HM and runs clockwise around the center, RDM accompanies.
(d) NIN taunts EV and runs counterclockwise around center, RDM accompanies.
2. Group runs to shimmering and teams up with THF to kill MR (ignore pet). Person who becomes charmed to be slept immediately.
3. Group runs to staircase and teams up with the blinkers and kills GK (ignore pet).
4. Kill MR's pet, then GK's Wyvern.
5. NIN brings EV near staircase, mages bind/gravity her, BLMs and RNGs use 2hr and kill her with magic and ranged attack.
6. Cast Bar-fire/Fire Carol. Fight HM in the center, but when he is at 50% or lower HP all melee disengage him and run to staircase. All non-runners remain on foot of staircase. PLD continue to kite him in the middle of the ring such that the ones standing on the stairs can cast magic/shoot arrows. PLDs use Invincible when he uses Mighty Strikes. In the event that Mijin Gakure is used, only the runner should be killed. In such an event, one of the remaining runners (preferably PLD) must take over the kiting. In the event more than just a runner is killed, order of priority in raising should be runner, RDM, RNG, BLM, others.
Notes: It's recommended the MR Runner drink a poison potion. You can charge up TP on M14 Ark Angel TT and escape, since it carries over into Divine Might.
If you read down the thread, I posted a quote where you start the quest:
Quote:
Duracell wrote this in another thread. I though it should be listed here as well..
enter ru'ann gardens
run straight to portal
run straight again, past the blue dolls (where despot is) keep going directly straight forward. there is an entrance to Shrine of Ru'Avitau.
enter
do not bother with sneak, run directly forward, until you get to the end, there is a blank target. do not stray left or right :P just go exactly straight the entire time. Click and the NPC you talked about is a part of the cutscene. After you finish the cut scene you may enter Divine Might.
Just beat this last night on our first attempt of the night (by many of us had tried it before, this was my 9th
attempt I think), and we used a strategy that I haven't seen posted anywhere before.
_____________________
Our setup.
Grouped by role, was:
war/nin, nin/war, thf/nin, pld/war, pld/war
rng/nin, rng/nin, rng/nin, rng/nin
blm/rdm, blm/rdm, blm/whm
rdm/blm, rdm/blm, rdm/blm
whm/blm, whm/blm
brd/whm
By party, it was.
rng, rng, rng, rng, brd, nin
blm, blm, blm, rdm, whm, war
rdm, rdm, whm, pld, pld, thf
Although we did change our parties around a lot right before we entered, the first party was definitely listed as it
was. ALso, it is crucial that everyone has the ability to reraise themself.
Strategy:
________________________
Kill Order: TT + MTH -> GLK -> ELV -> HM
________________________
The plan:
As a Red mage, I noticed when I did my first try at level 70 that these things have horrible spell resistence, and
that our downfall came from dealing with too many of them for too long, so I came up with an idea to eliminate two
concurrently and instantly. The idea was that blm's and rangers would kill the TT, RDM's would chainspell +
thunder III the mithra.
Before entering the BC, we buffed and generated TP (to save time, which is very important).
_______________________
The pull (keep in mind it was much more chaotic than I make it sound):
Tanks:
Warrior did initial pull, taking the mithra to the top of the strairs to the burning circle.
paladins traded hate on the elf, kiting it around the base of the arena.
thief tanked the hume near the paladins that were kiting.
ninja tanked the galka half way up the stairs (due to galka AOE 2 hour).
White mages:
white mages assist with the kiting paladins, and the ninja as necessary.
the thief used potions for hp due to hate control.
Bard: did the bard thing on the rangers and the ninja
Black mages:
One of the black mages slept the galka's wyvern.
Red mages:
One rdm waited near the BC for war and mithra to arrive (and casted gravity).
One rdm slept the mithra's tiger.
One rdm made sure the pull went ok and tried not to panic but panicked anyway :( (guess who)
_______________________
The pull itself was a mess, we almost escaped, but we hung in there and continued as follows:
BLMs and Rangers eliminated the TT (came to assist with mithra if needed, but it wasn't)
Red mages encircled the mithra and warrior and one of them cast bind and started chainspell + thunder III.
15 seconds later, red mage #2 did the same.
15 seconds later, red mage #3 did the same.
Red mages converted as necessary and dropped the mithra in no-time flat. (spells were landing unresisted for 500-650
depending on the red mage)
_______________________
After much rejoicing at our early victory, we regrouped, dead people reraised.
After a short period of rest, we attacked the galka. It was horrible because the paladins both died and the elvaan
was running around owning people until the galka was killed. Honestly, I don't know how we dealt with that because
inbetween trying to keep the pets asleep (which never despawned), and field marshalling the flow of the battle since
I was in the unfortunate position of coordinating that night's run, I didn't have time to observe a lot of the finer
details of the fight. I think one of the red mages ended up kiting the elf up and down the stairs though.
_______________________
The elvaan was taken in a similarly sloppy manner because by the time she had used her 2nd 2-hour ability the hume
was running around untanked as well. It eventually killed me with a triple critical attack, haha. But re-raise is
important like I said, and pretty much the whole fight everyone was at least up even if they were weakened.
At this point it was safe for everyone else to use their 2-hour abilities because it was likely that we could win.
(try to get the elvaan to use it's 2 hours before you waste your own).
_______________________
From here it was all down hill, we had 10 minutes left and the hume was already at 70% health and about half of the
alliance was unweakened. The hume is done last because it might blow up and die, and if you're running short on
time (which is often the case) it's a godsend. However, the hume didn't blow up for us, but we did defeat him.
Anyone who still had their 2 hour used it on the hume.
_______________________
Fight time: 19:50.
_______________________
Addendum to our strategy:
In retrospect here were the things we could have done better.
The pull was sloppy, but that wasn't the strategy's fault.
the tanks should have written macros to tell the white mages when they need paralyna
Not everyone had echo drops... omg... never go anywhere without echo drops.
Near the end of the fight, if it was needed, the white mages could have used benediction and then re-raised if
killed.
Red mages should have brought vile elixers and yagudo drinks because we were in bad shape after our strategy at the
beginning. I didn't realize we'd need so much mp after that, because I had done so many other runs. But that
strategy really calls for some good mp regen afterwords.
_______________________
Good luck with your own runs, and send me a PM if you have any questions.
I do have to agree that was a great strategy. I was there tanking the Hume as thf/nin. If you can get the setup we had I would strongly recommend it. And if you do have a thf tank the hume make sure he has some serious eva gear. I personally had +56 eva and a evasion torque which is like 5-7 eva skill I forget.
Also it is key to start the pulls at the same time. we didnt and almost wiped at the start but since the strat was so good we recovered and won. Bring hi pots and I would also suggest HP regen drinks. Some Pro - Ethers wouldnt hurt also.
Hehe. I'll be sure to have a pro ether or 2 when we do our next run tonight. They have a 10 minute medicated effect by the way. I don't know if that means you can't use another pro other for 10 minutes, or if you can't use any medicines for 10 minutes.
I recently used a few doing COP chapters 5 and 6 but I don't think I tried to use any other meds after the pro ethers.
well i got to write about this... woke up early this morning got a invte for divine Might,i was thinking (hmmm.) im a lvl 71 BLM, ill get owned but worth a shot and the inevitable death. Turned out the ldr was planing on makeing a HUGE manaburn pt of 16 and 2 others, it worked out pretty close to that, most the BLM were lvl 74+. anyways ! we get there and all start casting our -ga spells, killed the mithra, but we all end up dieing, we all had reraise on raise up and rested till weakness was gone, did the same thing again taru died, and so did the elvan, hume and the Galka left ( he died a snd time..) time was runnig out, we raised everyone ASAP, SS blink --> Manafont nuked as much as you could with -ga about 7 of us were left standing, the Galka was the last one he took a lot of damage they finished them off VICTORY !! it was great and worth the 3 deaths to get the Abyssal earring ^^
Next time you do this try to have all the blm's there be 73+ for thundaga 3. Walk inside the circle just inside thundaga 3 range. Test it out on the AA EV, then heal imidiately to cancel it. Have all your blm's in the same range and do the same thing. Then have a lead blm to direct the rest to tell all of them to stand up and ES. Then that same blm will call out a game time to nuke. You must be good on your timing no matter what or it will fail horribly. If done right they will all go down except the AA GK which will have only a slight bit of hp left. He is easily defeated by hitting F8 and your drain spell. That drain coming from 16 blms will end it right there.
There is currently an LS on Siren full of blm's called MercenaryElement that does this run about every week or so. It has been defeated many many times using this same method.
One more thing. When you stand up to ES hit your "V" key or L3 on your ps2 controller to get to first person mode and rotate your character to face directly South West. This will keep your character from moving around and still in range of your cast. This will also help on the resistance of your casting of thundaga 3.
Its not a drop at all. You finish this quest then head back to the same point where you activated it. Then you get a cs and your option to pick which one you want. You can only get one and you can not repeat this quest either to get another.
Woot!
My LS just did this fight the non-wussy way... meaning no full alliance of Blms.
We had: 3x whm, smn, 3x nin, pld, 3x rdm, 3x rng, war/nin, mnk, drk and thf
Ran in and one Nin voked GK and started running around the battle area with him after a Rdm casted Gravity on it. I was one of the other Nin so I took MR along with a Thf and Rdm to the back room (Shimmering circle) and fought her there. Other Nin took HM and kited him the opposite direction that GK was being kited. The Pld and War/Nin along with a Whm took EV to the tunnel and kited up and down. Everyone else went ape-sh*t on TT at the start, then came back to the circle and helped me finish off MR. Went to the arena and killed GK, then killed MR's pet and GK's Wyvern. Then we went to the tunnel and killed EV. Lastly, all Rngs and Blms went to the arena and fought HM and everyone else waited back til he used Mijin Gakure which he never used. Fight took around 15 min both times we went in (were 2/2) and I won my shiny Suppanomimi!
I know if you do Divine Might you no longer
need to do ZM14 because it counts as the same
thing... but what if you do ZM14 first can you
still do Divine Might and get an earing? I mean
I'm sure you can still take part in the BCNM
with people but will you actually still be able
to recieve the prize?
On a note I have not done either Divine Might
or ZM14... I just recently got sky access so...
just thinking of the future ^^ thanks
I think you could still do the fight because others who won Divine Might off someone elses Ark Pentasphere were able to trade theirs and do the fight again for others.
From one of TheNexusOne's Divine Might runs:
AA MR took 9116 points of damage - hit by 12 Blm's
AA TT took 9417 points of damage - hit by 13 Blm's
AA HM took 10088 points of damage - hit by 13 Blm's
AA EV took 7496 points of damage - hit by 16 Blm's
AA GK took 12642 points of damage - hit by 16 Blm's
AA Wyvern took 1552 points of damage - hit by 2 Blm's
One Blm's spell did not hit anything - they were all dead by then
Adding up all the damage, the total damage dealt was: 50311
On AA MR: Min damage: 690, Max damage: 829
On AA TT: Min damage: 659, Max damage: 789
On AA HM: Min damage: 706, Max damage: 847
On AA EV: Min damage: 133: Max damage: 600
On AA GK: Min damage: 426: Max damage: 1001
On Wyvern: Min damage: 767: Max damage: 785
Damage output by Blm's:
4152, 3756, 3650, 3630, 3540, 3522, 3504, 3463, 3400, 3314, 3248, 3231, 3188, 1601, 1573, 1539, 0
The low damage (1601, 1573, 1539, and 0) is due to the AA's dying
Blms make it easy it sounds but the earrings really only seem to be good for the melee. Sure theres divine+ dark+ scythe+ but what about an earring with healing+ elemental+ enfeeb+ for us blms, whms, and rdms? plus if your bringing a Blm alliance with one paladin so you can do that 17 thundaga 3, invicible, 17 thundaga 3 thing the Blms kinda get screwed unless they got another lvl 70+ job those earrings could be good for :( Having been able to beat it though really says enough so its glory over treasure that may be some peoples fortune which is pretty cool.
MmMMmmMmm... Recently did this on 2 seperate occasions - 2/7 was the final tally when we left (I think).
1/3 - 16 BLM - 2 warm bodies:
Problems with timing and low level blm/numbers of BLM - got lucky when we won because only 2 AA died in the initial volley, but the rest of them apparently went stupid and forgot they had AoE, 2hr, etc ;P We got off not 1, not 2, but 3 volleys of casts when we won, very cool.
1/4 - 12 BLM - WAR/NIN, PLD/WAR, NIN/WAR, WHM, RDMx2:
Went back because we wanted to try to get more earrings and include more people on runs. Logic behind organization was that 12ish IV nukes would do aprox the same damage as 17 -ga spells.
Kill Order : EV > TT > MR > HM > GK
All BLM nuke EV - If EV is shelled it will take 2 volleys, but this isn't a big deal - EV never got off Benediction, died everytime. After spells go off, WAR voked MR, PLD voked HM, NIN voked GK - TT was untouched. NIN ran GK to circle, soloed him there with RDM (Ended up getting GK down to 60% HP by the time we got there, though the other tanks joined him for dmg as their target died) - PLD ran HM up the stairs and back down again, WAR ran MR around the circle, RDM in the PT where Tanks were fighting AA & Pet (Grav/Sleep). All BLM were /whm - all nukes were done on XX:10 (IE Start at 20:10, nuke until target dead, lead BLM (me) called out time for next nuke (nearest 10 second mark - rinse and repeat). I had a lot more fun with this setup - though it was a lot more risky, and when we did the last 3 runs with different tanks we had a lot of strange problems (tanks dying, TT did stone move once, much nastiness). If the tanks die you lose - but they only have to live for a max of 1 min, I think, so... :3
Next time I go to 5AA battle I'm hoping to go in a more 'normal' alliance - I think the epic fight other people talk about would be a lot more fun than the BLM nukefest(s) - but we'll see =)~
In above setup you could sub in almost any job, pair them with a BRD instead of a healer, Mazurka, /NIN, and sleep pots/icarus for hate/tp and do much the same thing. The important part is holding X AA for X seconds - and if you put a THF on the HM and he can get a Dancing Edge off for hate, you won't have any problems. DRG could be a little tricksey, but they only have to live 30-40 seconds, so....
I babble too much, post over :3 Kudos to Alahnna (Organized the 16 BLM run, BLM) and Balak (Organized the 12 BLM run, WAR). Good times :)~
Just did this the other night with a semi-pickup JP alliance. If I remember right it was
pt1: PLD/NIN/WHM/RDM/BLM/RNG
pt2: NIN/RDM/WHM/BLM/BLM/RNG
pt3: NIN/DRK/RDM/WHM/BLM/RNG
It took us 18 minutes to beat the BCNM the normal way. Things to stress are:
1: Amon Drive sucks. TT must die in the first or second barrage of attacks (15s or so) or else it will use it, and teleport out of range, messing everything up. Our RNG used Opo-Opo Necklaces and Sleeping potions to store TP.
2: The BLMs just Sleepga2'ed the pets after TT was dead. The pets disappear a little while after their master dies, so don't bother fighting them.
3: Havoc Spiral wasn't really a problem since MR was our next target, and she's pretty low on the HP side. We drank poison potions until she was dead, just in case. Very high evasion, so BLMs nuked her dead. The PLD was designated to kite her briefly.
3: In the beginning half, GK is kited by NIN/RDM in the tunnel, HM by NIN/RDM in the circle, and EV by NIN/RDM also in the circle. Once GK is dead, HM is kited in the tunnel while everyone gangs up on EV.
4: EV is totally unfair. The hate-reset Shield-Bashga is a killer and not much you can do about it. However, she is EASILY stopped by Bind and Shadowbind, so we pretty much picked her apart at range.
5: HM never used Mijin Gakure on us (thank gosh) but we pretty much kite-killed him too, with people loading him up with Diaga when he threw up Utsusemi, and Bind/Shadowbind when he didn't decide to resist. I didn't pay much attention to the shadows lost, but the NIN tanked him for pretty much the whole time with only the one RDM support.
6: If you think AAs have just 2 2hrs, think again =_=;;; They can use their 2HRs at will. HM will use Mighty Strikes -constantly-, GK will Meisui any time it wants to. But some 2HRs we just didn't see (or I didn't notice), like Benediction and Mijin Gakure.
Medicines used... enough hi-potions to wipe out a zone full of molbols, hi-ethers, juice, icarus wings, sleeping potions, poison potions, someone used a remedy (lol). Reraise Gorgets were used freely. Prep time was a good hour.
Ok, I've had some time to look over the data collected from the fight.
To recap:
we had 17 Blm's and 1 Rng for the fight
16 Blm's cast ES Thundaga3, 1 Blm cast ES Blizzaga3
16 Blm's targeted AA EV, 1 Blm targeted AA HM (The Blm casting Blizzaga3 targeted AA EV, btw)
AA MR died first, then TT, HM, EV, and finally GK
AA MR took 9132 points of damage - hit by 12 Blm's
AA TT took 9381 points of damage - hit by 13 Blm's
AA HM took 10597 points of damage - hit by 14 Blm's
AA EV took 7380 points of damage - hit by 16 Blm's
AA GK took 12966 points of damage - hit by 16 Blm's
AA Wyvern took 1790 points of damage - hit by 2 Blm's
One Blm's spell did not hit anything - they were all dead by then
Adding up all the damage, the total damage dealt was: 51246
On AA MR: Min damage: 675, Max damage: 898
On AA TT: Min damage: 633, Max damage: 857
On AA HM: Min damage: 415, Max damage: 922
On AA EV: Min damage: 207: Max damage: 579
On AA GK: Min damage: 692: Max damage: 966
I'm surprised that no one else has posted anything from our successfull run this past weekend..
The party set up was 17 Blm's and 1 Rng.
We all went in then cast Protect, Shell, Stoneskin, Blink, and Reraise.
(Just about) everyone cast ES Thundaga3 on AA EV
They all died after 1 round of casting.
The plan was for the Rng to EES AA EV if needed.
Some tips if you are going to do this with a nearly all Blm alliance:
0. Make sure everyone has the quest and selects the right one when entering
1. Make sure your get your timing down. If you do not get your timing down, AA EV will Benediction
2. Make sure everyone has Whm sub (for reraise and no fastcast)
3. Make sure everyone is standing close enough to cast their spell
4. Make sure everyone targets AA EV. AA EV will resist magic the most
If you blow any one of 1-4, there is a good chance that you will die. If you do, remain calm. Let everyone die. After the remaining AA's return to the center, everyone reraise, rest to full, then "start over". If you get up one by one and try to (manafont) cast a 2nd spell, you will be picked off and killed.
Also, it nice to have a Whm with R3 outside the BC to raise anyone who is still dead after fight.
Thanks Migole and Duracell for organizing this adventure!
Chalk Valefor up on this list of Servers done with BLM alliance. 16 BLM 1 PLD 1 DRK - make sure you test range w/ thundaga 3 and NOT flare like I did >< 2 deaths were because of ranged casting issues but overall it was very easy. Congrats Valefor BLMs and thank u for letting me organize!
I heard you can trade in an earring for another one, but you cannot hold two earrings (which should be obvious when you finish the quest because thats EXACTLY what the NPC tells you).
I believe you'll have to repeat the quest again, and redo the BCNM. It's something I was told in Linkshell chat, so I'm not sure what the specifics are.
r the member/s who said it still in ur ls? if so can u ask them? as of right now, it is a completed quest in my log so if i target the blank target where the npc appeard when u get the quest nothing happens. i tried to trade the earring to the blank target, but nothing happens. i still have the key item shards of the aa's. do u think i just need to redo the bcnm and then try targeting or trading the earring to the blank target again? i've tried asking a gm, but he said he didn't know, and ls leader ased a gm and he said he couldn't tell him.
question
# Feb 03 2005 at 11:50 AM Rating: Decent
would anyone be able to confirm/deny the viability of a sam/rng in this bcnm?
ie if they cap out archery, get all the +racc they can, preludex2 etc, would they be able to land sidewinder on anything?
Beat this today. Also grants title "Pentacide Perpetrator." Have fun. These things are not very nice. BTW, you'll know when you can get the ark pentasphere because during a full moon on clear skies, the fountain will fill with water that reflects the moon. Looks pretty cool. 24:30-00:30 you can get it during a full mooon if the sky is clear.
