Mission Orders

To lure the Bearer of Darkness to the Full Moon Fountain, you must collect the three verses of the ancient people. As her guiding star, the Star Sibyl is counting on you to help her decide the path for Windurst's future. The fate of Windurst rests upon your shoulders!

Walkthrough

Speak to Star Sibyl after getting the mission, she asks you to collect 3 ancient song verses. They are in Ro'Maeve, Chamber of Oracles and Temple of Uggalepih.

Ro'Maeve: This one you can solo easily, just bring some sneak oils with you (even for mages) as there are magic aggros everywhere in Ro'Maeve. Once there, examine the Qu'Hua Spring at H-6, this is the first place the doll led you to in M8-1. Get the key item Ancient Verse of Ro'Maeve after a cutscene.

Chamber of Oracles: Ride to C-12 of Western Altepa Desert via a tunnel from D-11. Enter Quicksand Caves, sneak is needed throughout this area. You enter at J-11, follow the path to a door with a switch circle before it at I-9. This is weight controlled door, you'll need one Galka or two of the other races or three Tarutarus standing in center of the circle to open the door. At the T-intersection ahead turn left, go to H-7 and open another weight-operated door. Keep going and fall down at E-7 to the lower sand level. Now just hug left and you'll eventually enter the Chamber of Oracles. After a cutscene there you receive the key item Ancient Verse of Altepa.

Temple of Uggalepih: First fight Tonberry Cutters in the temple for an Uggalepih key, it's a fairly common drop. Once you have the key, start from the main entrance to the temple (I-6 of the first map), and keep hugging right until F-5 where you'll zone back into Yhoator Jungle again at H-11 of the jungle. If you don't have the map, just check your position now and then to see if you're on the right track. Only invisible is needed throughout the temple.

Once in Yhoator, walk west a bit and re-enter the temple, this is the map where coffers spawn. You start at I-5 on the map, turn right at the first T. Walk to a wood gate at H-7, drop invisible to open this. Through the gate, turn right, walk to a T at F-7 and turn left there. Head south a bit and turn right, you'll come to a door at E-8. This door needs an Uggalepih key to open. But there are tonberries in front and behind this door, and they can see through doors. So be very careful when dropping invisible to open the door, and quickly re-apply invisible afterwards. Alternatively you can bring some people with you and just kill any tonberries in the room (1 key opens the door for everyone to enter). Once in the room, examine a ??? near the 4 bookshelves down the back for the key item Ancient verse of Uggalepih.

Return to Star Sibyl with the three verses for a cutscene and your final task: a battle at Full Moon Fountain.

BCNM Details:

You're allowed to have a party of six to beat this two-part BCNM. In the first part of the fight, your party must defeat four Ace Cardians. In the second party, you must fight a manticore and a wyvern simultaneously.

The cardians are the usual BLM/WHM/RDM/PLD combo. But since you have two battles in a row, you should kill three cardians, then sleep the fourth one while you rest HP and MP. The recommended order for killing the cardians is BLM > RDM > PLD > sleep and rest > WHM. Also, save TP on the WHM for the next fight.

After defeating the last Cardian, you begin fighting the wyvern, Tatzlwurm, and the manticore, Yali. Ajido-Marujido also fights, and if he dies you lose, so have the white mage focus on keeping Ajido alive. The best strategy is to fight the Mancitore while kiting the wyvern, then kill the wyvern.

After winning the BC, head to Heavens Tower one last time for Rank 10, 100k gil and the Windurst flag. Congratulations!

I can confirm their aggro range is massive. Ran in on BLM to sleep them and ended up pounded to death.

How about specifying which mob in which area you are referring to if you want your post to be relevant?

Going by the other post about a RDM and NIN duo'n it, me a friend tried this so I could finally get Rank 10 in Windy. It went very well, had no real issues, minus I didn't change sub to WAR but had no issues keeping hate in that situation. Ran in, aggro'd all the cards, RDM slept them, killed one at a time, the WHM is annoying btw, every time it woke it healed the one I was attacking, saved WHM for last, didnt even rest, just killed it. Watched the CS, and started 2nd fight, RDM rebuffed, and hasted me, I ran in towards the manticore who immediately casted Slowga, the Dragon got one hit off of me at this point, 248~, RDM grabbed hate of the Dragon and ran around while I fought the manticore with the Taru NPC (cant recall his name atm), it died relatively quick, and the Taru is usefull for DMG casting AM's and what not, then just went after the dragon when the manticore was dead. Was relatively easy for what you'd expect from a final fight, I remember doing Sandy 9-2 which imo was alot harder. Anyhows, was just tryin to repost that RDM and NIN can duo this, even if you have an odd subjob >.>.

Thanks to Sharain who helped me out with it ^^ /bows to the Kitten.

Beat this with 6 people, everyone 72+.

WAR/NIN
WAR/NIN
WHM/BLM
RDM/WHM
MNK/NIN
NIN/WAR

Don't bother buffing until you go through the burning circle; all buffs will wear off. You should rest to full mp. Not that the first battle is tough, in fact it's mostly a joke. But more than likely one of your party members will be mercilessly pounded to near-death by said cardians before anyone is even aware of it. The reason why, as others have said of course, is that these Cardians have the longest aggro range I've probably ever seen. And once they aggro they come very fast, together, and beat the target down quickly.

We fought the blm, then whm, then rdm, then pld. The pld uses Invincible very early, so it's good that we saved him til last, otherwise the others might've hurt us more. We didn't have a blm, or the Sleepga spell. In the second fight, it is extremely important to voke off of the little Taru NPC. He absolutely loves to spam high-lvl magic spells against the two mobs, and he frequently garners hate.

Finally, I want to mention something of importance. After you win the battle and go to Heaven's Tower to finish the mission, make sure you have atleast one empty inventory slot before reaching the star sibyl's chambers. Believe it or not, if you lack that one empty slot, you will not be given rank 10, you will not be given the windy flag, you will not regain the verses, and you will still see the 9-2 mission under 'current', instead of 'completed'.

I was seconds away from trying to do everything all over again, because I went back to the sybil's door in hopes of getting the CS again, but it was locked, and nothing happened. However, the good news is that once you then zone back out of Heaven's Tower again, you will get the final, very last CS once again, and then you will be given rank 10, the flag, and the money; provided you finally cleared that inventory slot.

Best of luck,

Chimera

Beat this with an unconventional party.

RDM75/BLM37 (Me)
MNK75/WAR37 Tank
WHM75/SMN37
SMN75/WHM37
RDM74/BLM36

Buffed up, entered, went to go and sleep them, I never had a chance. As soon as we got close, 2 charged me, and the other 2 stayed behind casting a spell at on, Flare and something else. With them seperated like that, I never had a chance to cast Sleepga on em, I wanted to get em all, so I tried to round them up, but my Tarutaru HP didn't last long. I went down 30 seconds into fight.

But I did manage to round them up just before dying, and the other RDM sleepga them after I died. He Raise I me and I toss up some debuffs and run away from battle. The MNK had no trouble keeping hate, and cardians were hitting him for minimal damage. Other RDM kept the cardians slept, with me tossing an occasional Sleep II. WHM kept MNK alive with a cure III here and there. Killed the RDM first, as soon as he chainspelled, we never bothered sleeping it, it spammed Diaga II 3 times in a row, and then a Fire II or some weak tier II spell. He never casted any Tier III Nukes. PLD was third to go down, when he invincible, we just Slept him til it wore off. WHM was last, we beat him down to 5%, then slept him and rested, as per the guide. That was pointless, we finished him off and the manti and wyvern popped, Ajido just stood there looking at us. We buffed him and ourselves, rested a little, and then I charged towards the Manticore. As soon as I got aggro, Ajido ran off towards the Wyvern, and I tried to sleep the Manticore, but my Sleep was resisted, I forgot to put up Elemental Seal. ( Yes, that's right, I messed up TWO sleeps, and died AGAIN, within 30 seconds of the fight ) MNK voked the manticore, but the Wyvern continued his assault on Ajido, hit him twice and took him down to 10% before we took hate off him. Quickly healed him, Wyvern then turned his attention to me and hit me for 200-300 each hit, mages tried to keep me alive, but I quickly fell. After I died, MNK had hate on Wyvern, and he easily tanked both mobs without taking too much damage. After awhile the SMN 2 houred and took hate from the Wyvern and used the avatar to tank the Wyvern while still killing the Manticore. After MNK had hate, RDM Raise I me, I buffed and helped keep the MNK alive with cures. Soon the manticore fell, and we turned our attention to the Wyvern. His weaponskills hit the MNK hard, Rushing something attack hit him for 800-900, putting him in near red health. We managed to keep him alive, and the soon the Wyvern died.

I was the only one to die, both times withint 30 seconds of the battle trying to sleep the mobs. X-D The cardian battle is a breeze, the Manticore and Wyvern are more difficult, but the MNK with 4 healers successfully kept him alive. We had all run outta MP by the time the battle was over, but we RDM had not used Convert yet. MNK used 2 hour on Manticore to help kill that quick, SMN used 2 hour while Manticore was still alive too and hit both the Wyvern and Manticore. WHM and RDM's never used our two hours, or Convert.

All in all, an easy fight, we didn't have much of a stragety, which is why I died twice. Rank 10 Windy now! </cheer>

Just beat this using a pretty standard party setup.

DRG71 (me)
MNK75 (mithangel)
PLD75 (randalthor)
RDM75 (tarunabu)
BLM75 (weegie)
WHM75 (cliran)

The cardians have a wicked long aggro range; my first run I went as blm and almost died because they aggro'd me before I was even in casting range. Second round we had the PLD run straight into them to gain aggro and keep them close together so the BLM could sleepga them. Worked very well, and the cardians went down fast and easy from there.

After the cards were done and the second half of the fight began, we had plenty of time to rest while the two monsters sat there waiting for us. RDM kit'ed the wyvern while we took down the manticore, which was hitting the PLD for less than 100 per hit. The one challenging part was the wyvern used Deadly Shriek and paralyzed everyone for a while.

All in all, less dangerous than a KSNM and only a bit more than a lvl75 exp party.

Good day ladies and gents,

I am posting to see if anyone would be interested in teaming up with me on this. I have 75 thf and 75 whm, all my prep work completed. Currently I play mostly JP time, except on the weekends. I would ask my LS save for 2 reasons, it's not a high level LS, and most of them are from Sandy. Send me a tell please. ^^

Duo'd, 74(lol)RDM/BLM 75NIN/WAR. The only hard part is that because I had to sub BLM for sleepga para tore us up, we would have been in trouble if we had to do wyvern before manticore.

ES Sleep II resisted on wyvern, safe to say immune. Bind stuck every time with 295 enfeebling (gimp!), as did gravity. Manticore has a slow that overwrites Haste (another downside to /blm), set utsu:ni to 50 seconds with turban haidate swift belt. NIN/WHM might be useful for erase and paralyna, but arujido really is pretty fragile, if he chainspelled at the wrong moment he'd be floored before ninja got hate back. Wyvern also has absolutely crazy tp regen, he kept trying to dispel me whille being kited 0o. I didn't see much of the manticore, was on other side of room while it died, but it seemed pretty squishy, nin put it down fast.

I don't really see this as being solo'd because of the time involved killing the cardians /blm and then tanking/killing one of the mobs at the end while grav/binding the other, but I'm just waiting for someone to prove me wrong~. Mostly posting because I didn't see anyone mentioning they had done with two here, so go for it anyone who is wondering if they can. Only got one screenshot, after we won, will edit it in after I upload next batch of screenies.

Screenshot (<3 shad)

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y249/Fingerspitz/Fin061111223215a.jpg

Hmm~ now that I think about it with enough nuking gear a rdm/nin might be able to CS sleep the cardians, then nuke RDM and BLM ones down, convert, sleep II WHM, kill PLD, kill WHM...or maybe bind pld, sleep 1 the whm sleep 2 the rdm, kill the blm asap, then pld while keeping sleep + sleep II on the mages so you can chainspell kill one of the 2 monsters at the end? Kinda tight on time depending on how it goes, and you'd have to be pretty confident of being able to kill cards fast. Good luck anyone who wants to try^^/.

In the quest log on here, it says you get no title for completing this mission, but you do.

Vestigial Chamberlian, I believe is how it's spelled.

Adding that will greatly help everyone add this title to their character profile, since it is nowhere in the title system.

Thank you for hearing me out.

I just wanted to say that you don't need the Uggalipeh Key if you're helping people with ZM4. I just got finished with ZM4 and i had been trying to get this key item, so i asked the guys if they'd help me while we were there, after the fight. We almost got teleport-yhoat but instead just ran from where it dumps you after you win the battle, and zoned into the temple. We started killing all the tonberries in the room when i looked at my map and realised where we were. I tabbed around and sure enough the ??? was right over by the bookshelves and i got my cutscene. It was pretty funny, and I was glad that I didnt have to waste anymore of their time.

Just thought this might be helpful info.

P.S. I think you have to pass through one door but you dont need a key or anything. If youre trying to do this alone after the fight, make sure youre careful with invis when you open the door.

Santi, thanks for the very clear and succinct outline of the strategy. It works well. Did this with rotating parties (changing out members for optimal party config) 4 times last night. With exception of one partial wipe and redo when our smn targeted the wrong cardian (Fenrir attacked Ace of Coins when Ace of Batons was still up), we got through all four with only one death.

One point as whm - whms should save your divine seal for the second battle if at all possible. The manticor, about halfway through, will hit with aoe slow - this threw us off just enough that our tank died about 5 seconds before the win on our first battle. Used DS + Erase for all other battles and had no problems other than the mistargeting mentioned before.

beat this mission today as a pt of three...

Mnk/nin (me)
rdm/blm
brd/whm

The cards were easy, but we made life difficult by not knowing which job was which. I started attacking the whm first, and it caused some problems when it used benediction and woke all the others up.
They have roughly 3k hp each, asuran fists knocked off a good amount of hp. rdm and brd both slept them while i beat them up.

Anyone with shadows shouldnt take much damage, they attack pretty slowly apart from one move ( called bludgeon) which takes out 3 shadows. i saved tp on the last card for the next fight.

The Manticore and Wyvern were infact easier than the cards. We waited for the taru npc to move then i chi blasted the one he attacked to get hate, while the rdm kited the wyvern. Brd healed the npc when he took damage. I used asuran fists then hundred fists and the manticore was down pretty quickly, then finished off the wyvern.
The taru npc does contribute a bit to the fight, he uses black magic such as flood, even though he has the rdm 2hr chainspell :S

Only meds i used was a icarus wing, although i did have hi pots i never used them, it was over too fast.

Overall very easy, only hard part is keeping the npc alive, as he can die in a couple of hits.

This was a fun mission. We did it with, though i'm not positive on the levels, the following:

75 sam/war <me>
73 thf/nin
68 drk/thf
75 nin/war
68 blm/whm
73 rdm/blm

The cardians went down easy, we did batons > coins > swords > cups. We just spammed ws's during this since they died too fast to easily do a sc. slept the cups at 100%, rested to full, and destroyed it.

The second fight gave us a little more trouble. We waited for Ajido to move, so we'd know which one he was going after. The nin kited the other while the rdm stunned/gravitied it. I then more or less straight up tanked the other one. We lost this one the first time around since I think the wyvern did an AoE silence and the mages didn't think they needed to bring echo drops. We didn't last long after that.

Round 2: The DRK asked me if I had used my 2hr. I honestly hadn't thought of using it, but this gave me an idea. We fought the cardians again, destroying them faster than we had destroyed them the first time. I told everybody to hold off on using weapon skills till I gave the ok, I was going to 2hr the first monster, I figured if I was going to tank it anyway, I might as well take it down fast.

I intended to do a 5ws skillchain, but it didn't live that long. I did Yukikaze(1000 damage) > Gekko(400)<fragmentation 500> > Kasha(600)<Light 1100> It was around here he decided to use Demon's Hand, or some such attack, not positive of it's name, and hit me for 1000 damage in one shot, just as Light kicked off. We had killed each other, it was kind of funny.

From there the others ran off and beat the tar out of the wyvern while I lay there cheering them on.

As odd as our strategy was, we still did it with little trouble once we knew what we were doing, and set the new record on Sylph at around ten minutes, 40 seconds.

If the rdm was stunning, then it was a 74+ Rdm/DRK, not a Rdm/Blm. Drk is the only subjob that can stun.

This is simply false. I entered the Burning Circle as a rank 6 Bastokan. I recently switched over from rank 10 Windy.

I did this mission as a manaburn. Me and four other level 75 blms, as well as a thief. The way we did it was Sleepga'ed the cardians right off the bat and Killed them in a certain order with tier 4 nukes. They went down pretty fast. o.O

The next part of the mission, the thief kited the manticore around while the black mages free nuked the wyvern.... It was an interesting fight, to say the least. A few of us died than reraised, but we managed to win by the skin of our teeth. Was a fun fight and I would definitely do it again. ^^

This was a really easy fight. We had to do it twice though cause the first time our RDM kited the wyvern far away from us and Ajido-Marujido teleported or somethin and died >.<

Our party set up was:
72 nin/war
74 rdm/blm
75 blm/whm
75 whm/blm
72 blm/whm
72 drk/thf

The first time we fought in the order of Cups (WHM) > Swords (PLD) > Batons (BLM) > Coins (RDM) and everything went off without a hitch, except that the melee weren't fighting Cups quite far enough away as Benediction woke up Swords and Coins, but that wasn't a problem as they went right back to sleep without elemental seal. The second time I accidentally poisoned the Batons instead of sleeping him (cause he was separated from the others when sleepga went off) so we killed BLM > WHM > PLD > RDM. Still very easy, and NIN and DRK saved their TP through this fight.

On part 2 we rebuffed (and group buffs DO work on Ajido-Marujido) and ran towards them (you can't get in range to cast before they aggro so you might as well have tank go out to be ready to voke Ajido-Marujido's target.) NIN used Blade: Ten and DRK chained with Spiral Hell for a Darkness that did just as much as Spiral Hell for 1206 and a Blizzard IV Magic Burst finished off the Manticore real quick. The RDM kited the Wyvern with Gravity and Bind but brought it too far from our party and Ajido-Marujido got himself killed before we could get over there. Second time through we did Blade: Ten > Spiral Hell = Darkness for another Darkness that did as much as Spiral Hell, 900 something and a Water IV Magic Burst finished him off. This time we had the RDM Kite near us and as soon as Ajido-Marujido started casting I Stunned the Wyvern followed by the other BLM and DRK Stunning it to give time for the NIN to Provoke. I also spammed nukes to steal aggro from Ajido-Marujido. Once NIN had hate, the Wyvern died FAST and without a hitch.

None of our party died either time. We also set the record on Sylph.

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 19 2005 at 9:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I am a 73rd Paladin who has completed this mission and got the Ace of Cups card. I have been told that the person that holds this card can not be attacked by the cardian of the same name. I don't know if this is true. If anyone knows for sure please post here to verify or discredit the rumor. If not invite me to go and I will try it in the BC. This guide is not very helpful

I did this mission yesterday with some people on my server, and I used this guide as a reference point. It was good up until the BCNM part. I guess it's factually correct, but it omited so much information that could have been used.

In the BCNM you fight 4 Cardians. They are BLM (Batons), RDM (Coins), PLD (Swords), WHM (Cups). You should first sleepga the mobs and then take them individually in the order above. After you kill the PLD you should sleep the WHM again and rest a little. It is not nessessary to rest to full because after you defeat the last Cardian you are then put in the BCNM again where you are in fact allowed to rest. The NPC will not just take off running as this guide implies.

Important: YOU CAN BUFF THE NPC. By this I mean you can Protect, Shell, Ballad, Etude, whatever. It is strongly recommended that you do buff him because he has very few HP and takes hits like a wuss. When he has aggro he does a move that instantly teleports him out of aggro range, but the mobs will track and hunt him down. He can be flattened in 2-3 hits so keep an eye on him.

When you begin the second fight the NPC will randomly choose the mob it goes after. For the few times I have done this he has most often gone for the Manticore, but one time he did go after the Wyvern. The Manticore and the Wyvern are both not sleepable, but you can bind and gravity them. Be extra careful around the Manticore and watch out/stun Riddle, this will cause a max MP down which continues to go down as long as you have the status effect. Erase as soon as possible if you recieve this effect.

The NPC will Chainspell and cast AM randomly, I don't know if he does this in the final bit of the battle or if it's possible for him to do it before but in the times that I did it he only chainspelled on the last 20% or so of the second mob.

After the fight and you get your CS, go back to Heaven's Tower and click on the Star Sybils room. You will get a CS and then you must click on the door again (this part was omited) in order to get the final cut scene, 100k gil, windurstian flag, and rank 10.

I hope this helps out.

This mission to me seemed like a breeze, I mean a complete and utter easy mission.

The pt set up was as follows:

71 Mnk/war <me>
75 Pld/war
74 Brd/whm
68 Rdm/Blm
70 Blm/whm
72 Whm/blm

We followed the order that the Pld who had previously done the mission told us to follow, the cardians went down so easy I almost felt saddened by the fact that it was so easy. We took the last cardian to it's 2hr <benediction> then slept it and rested to full.

After the MP rest we proceeded to beat down the last cardian and store our TP for the Manticore, which Ajido seems to always run after first...He stood and waited for almost 2-3 mins before even moving then he ran off to the side near the wyvern and turned a curve to run straight at the manticore.

The Rdm did their usual buffs and then Gravity kited the Wyvern...

But as the Rdm had started running around for under a min we destroyed the Manticore, I don't mean just beaten, I mean destroyed. Ajido was having fun with his Ancient Magic Burst and with the Bard (<3 Bards) My Asuran fists planted a nice 1100+ damage on it.

So we pulled in the Wyvern and the fight was not too hard there either, only problem was that the Wyvern likes to use a wind wall trick boosting it's evasion to a ridiculously high amount even I had +30 acc and still missed a higher % of the time...so keep an eye out for it and dispel as necesary.

Other than that the Rank 10 fight isn't much of a problem as long as you have a good kiter and a Blm able to stick sleepga at the start...a Fun mission even if it was easy, something I'd definitely do again. :D

We did this fight with this setup-

75 PLD/WAR <me>
73 SAM/WAR
75 WHM/BLM
73 BLM/RDM
75 RDM/BLM
72 SMN/WHM

The WHM and I read the strategy on here and we decided to change it up just a little.

I looked like a goofball, but I was dressed to kill. Company Sword, Koenig Shield, Rosenbogen, Adaman Barbuta, Minuet Earring, Drone Earring, Byrnie, Koenig Handschuhs, Topaz Ring, Hercule's Ring, Forager's Mantle, Warwolf Belt, Dusk Trousers and Crimson Greaves. My Attack was 386 and Defense was 585-591 with Black Curry.

I ran in and kited the mobs and BLM/RDM slept them, then we fought them in the order someone spelled out- Baton, Coins, Sword, and Cup.

People said to wait until the Cup did its 2hr before sleeping it. We slept it at full health, and everyone rested to full. By sleeping and resting to full before it used its 2hr, we were able to build TP to 300% TP by the time we made it to the 2nd stage.

Ajido went after the Manticore once he started moving. We were waiting to see which one he went for and he just stood there for about 2 minutes before he finally moved. I did a Savage Blade for 516 and then the Manticore did some special called Riddle which is MAX MP down. The SAM followed with Tachi:Kasha for 803 and we had a Light Skillchain which completely blew up the Manticore after Ajido MB for 975, the only spell he had time to cast. ^^

After this we moved onto the Wyvern. The SAM made quick work of this one. We didn't know he was going to do this so it was a very pleasant surprise. He 2hr'd (Meikyo Shishui) and did a Light self skillchain (Tachi: Yukikaze >
Tachi: Gekko > Tachi: Kasha). After that and the subsequent bursts, we had 2 dead NMs in a very short amount of time.

So if you need this NM to go down fast look for a SAM who knows how to self skillchain and you will see what ownage of this BCNM is first hand.

Rank 10 Battle Experience
# Jun 28 2005 at 12:43 AM Rating: Decent
A group of friends had done 8-1, 8-2, and 9-1 all in one night and we decided to get together and do 9-2 the next day. We got all the verses which were ridiculously easy. The only thing of those that takes some time of the Temple verse only cause you need a key, but its very common drop.

Our party setup was as followed...

71PLD Harperu
70BLM Mango
65RNG Appeso (Me^^)
63WHM Amageus
73SMN Maikeru
70RDM Arikel

During all the traveling we were discussing the battle plan and seemed to know down to a tee what to do. We get there and begin to fight in the order that the allakhazam guide susgests, it works very nicely. The only problem is the Cardians don't come right at you when you aggro them, some come at you, others make a curve.

We killed them all and then the Wyvern/Manticore fight came up. The 70RDM was doing a decent job kiting the Wyvern but its pretty tough, the SMN helped out and did a fantastic job. We killed the Manticore but somehow our WHM died, and with invincible up on the PLD the Wyvern did a magic based attack move that killed the PLD. The Wyvern was down to 1/3 health and we though if the avatar could tank it Ajido could kill it. Unfortunately what Ajido does is very random, for some he will chainspell and win you the battle...for us he did very little. If Ajido had cast anything at all against the wyvern we would have won. Needless to say, we died.

A little upset and depressed we decided to give it another go, even though a few 2 hrs had been used. We fought the Ace's again in the same exact way, no problems at all. This time Ajido helped a lot more, he didn't chainspell still but he kept using ancient magic on the Manticore. Please note who Ajido goes after is random, I've read peoples posts saying he went after Wyvern first, but for us both times he went after Manticore. Another note...I don't know the exactly time but about a minute or 2 after the cutscene is over for everyone Ajido will run in and begin fighting.

We had a small problem where our RDM d/c'ed right after the Aces fight. We were going to exit the battlefield but he got right back on and there was a little lag getting him back into the party. Out of nowhere Ajido decides to go solo the Manticore. He almost died running in by himself cause we had to chase him, but this fight we had the SMN kite the wyvern the whole time and it went much more smoothly, it was a very easy victory with no 2 hours needed. Congrats on rank 10!

Note: When you are getting the cutscenes at the end, there is one when you're leaving Heaven's Tower...it takes a long time to load for a lot of people, so don't think you're PC or PS2 froze, it happened to all our people.

Here's a pic we took afterward to celebrate!

Trouble sleeping?

I'll hopefully be doing this fight later on this week, trouble is I'm only a lvl 63 RDM. Am I going to have trouble sleeping and silencing the mobs if I go in at this lvl?

Allakhazam's statement that for a safe fight have everyone 70+ is wrong. There are a few jobs that can go as a lower level. The healer and a very well equiped melee thats 65+; RNGs for example have tons of ranged acc. so its no problem when I went. RDM's play such a huge important roll in this battle, you need to help the BLM sleep the cardians when they resist because they will occasionally.

During the second half of the battle you have to kite whichever mob Ajido does not go after, for me both times we kited the Wyvern cause he went after manticore. As 63 RDM you just simply can't do this, your gravity and other spells just won't land and you'll likely get yourself killed, then the Wyvern will start attacking your party and killing them as well, it hits very hard.

The level recommendation on the guide should say that the Kiter and Tank have to be 70+ or you will have problems. Most people who get this mission done are either 70+ or invited by friends, the lower level people in my group were people who invited me along to do 8-1 and 8-2, we did 9-1 together so it was only fair I invite them along despite their level. If you read my post above I tell that even our 70 RDM had trouble kiting and the SMN had to take over.

The only roll you could really contribute to the battle is curing and keeping an eye on Ajido during the second half. I don't think you'd get an invitation to this bcnm fight unless you have friends doing it and the PT is extremely good to make up for your level. I realize after typing this it seems like I'm being harsh, but it is a difficult fight IF you don't have certain jobs at the right levels, its fairly easy if everyone is as they should be.

Goodluck with your battle!

Note: I just realized the title of your post is trouble sleeping, if you read the other people's posts the wyvern is nearly impossible to sleep. Out of 10 peoples posts I read I think I only saw one person say they were able to sleep it. At you're level you'll have trouble sleeping the cardians or silencing them which is dangerous, forget about doing anything to the wyvern/manticore.

Too Weak, Yes Please

Our party killed these NMs yesterday.

We had Uber pt setup. Five lvl 75s, one lvl 74:
75 NIN/WAR with Kirin Osode
74 THF/NIN with Scorp Harness
75 RDM/BLM
75 BLM/WHM (me)
75 BRD/WHM
75 SMN/WHM

Well, you can imagine what happened with Party setup like that. We tortured the NMs badly O_o. They were very easy. We almost broke record too. We lost only 30 secs to the current record >_<

We killed the 4 Cardians in the same order like Allakhazam tells us: BLM - RDM - PLD - Sleep WHM - Full rest - Kill WHM. NIN started with provoke to the BLM Cardian. I followed with Elemental Seal + Sleepga II. We had no problem at all with the 4 Cardians.

After that, we divided tasks. NIN and party assaulted the Manticore, SMN kited the Dragon. Manticore died so fast O_O. We had a bit problem with the Dragon bc Ajido almost died lol. Yeah, we focused killing the Dragon and forgot to watch Ajido HP. Luckyly, SMN watched and cured Ajido HP. Soon the Dragon had died too before I had my chance to nuke it 2x.

I didn't know what they did bc I had Filter On. Suddenly the Manticore and the Dragon HP dropped so fast, like more than half O_o

Soon, we won, went back to Windurst, and met Star Sybil at Heaven Tower. Happy Ending, Windurst flag and rank 10! Yay!! @^_^@
