I dont believe that we can craft these without the expasion as i have tried and was told that combination is invalid
105K

I did this quest last night on Ifrit. It costs me 105k. Don't know if I got a good deal or got ripped off. Just want to get the quest done.

do you have to have CoP installed to do this quest?
or just get the items?

Wow if these items truly cap at the low lvls that Somepage suggests (link in post below me), I'm really pissed off. I could have made a killing if this game was released at the same time, instead I ended up losing money because I could get in when the market began to crash and it overskipped me.

The only reason I think we should get it at the same time is because it gives the JP a severe economical advantage. Hell even a Euro player could get his skills up to the levels required in order to craft these items before Americans even got the game.

Lol, we all had the new crafting recipes at the same time, JP and NA alike. They didn't come with the expansion; they came with the update, just like the quest did. The NA’s have all had the ability to make these new items just as long as the JP's have. The reason they cost so much in the beginning is because not many had success in figuring out what the recipe was.

The main detriment to NA getting in on the orgy of money spending here was the lack of base ingredients, not lack of recipe. At the very start, the finished products started showing up in far greater numbers than the base ingredients. This is because, naturally, people were getting these items as drops / mining results etc... and instead of selling them, were crafting them directly. This was a definite advantage to whomever could get into CoP first.

However, once the ingredients started showing up in significant numbers for them to not be as ridiculously overpriced as the items themselves, NA crafters had just as much access as JP crafters. I myself crafted my paktong ingot and rhodonite.

As for the recipes, the paktong ingot recipe was somewhat hard to decipher if you weren't given the recipe from the guild. The rhodonite recipe is the same as ALL rocks (wind crystal + rock (scarlet)). The bugard leather is the SAME as every single leather recipe (there are several, but I can 100% confirm the dark crystal + hide (bugard) + distilled water + willow log). I'm sure the other recipe (ie the tea leaves) works as well. The Moblinweave is again the same as every single cloth recipe (ie earth crystal + 3x thread (moblin thread)).

The recipes are not complicated, and now that (at least on midgardsormr), the base ingredients are quite available, NA crafters are on the same footing as everybody else.

Im posting this in the hope that ppl will make a lot of these items to sell for cheaper than they are going for now.

http://ffxi.cannotlinkto/news/display-news.php?news=22

This page has all the info on what skills required to make these items. I cant verify the accuracy of it yet, but most of these synths are around lvl 20, they just require new items to use to synth. Hopefully they wont be too hard to get.
way to overpay..

..and now that NAs will have the CoP expansion all the gobbiebag V item prices will go down. I hope everyone enjoyed paying 10 times more for the items a few days ago then people will have to pay now.
Money for advance players

The problem with this quest is that the advanced players are taking advantage of what only they can get. The first few day's I witnessed someone making the moblin weave cloth over and over. Looking at the ah I found their name was on all of the sellers and the going price was 110k. All the items prices are jumping around. I understand that they want to make money on it, but how spending 200k just for a extra 5 items is not worth it.

At this point, if you need to be one of the very first to buy moblinweave, what you would be paying for is kinda first-person-to-have-it privileges... bragging rights... the gobbiebag materials are considerably cheaper than that right now on my server. given a little time, i'll bet supply and demand will smooth things out a bit - probably at somewhere much cheaper than 200k for the quest.

You hit that one right on the head Velfire - I completed Gobbiebag 5 last night on Garuda. Total cost was less than 26,000 gil, and I bought everything from the Jeuno AH.
