Description

Cid's Dream of completing a "Semi-perpetual motion engine" can only be realized if he obtains a chunk of legendary ordrynite ore.

Find the ore and trade it to Raibaht for a cutscene and a chance to name CID's new Airship, plus a super cool title.

The Psycho Sonic Streak
The teak lumber was the most annoying part of this series of quests. After farming for a whole day on the Phaenuet Channel, it did not drop. The next day I tried again, it dropped off of the first Giant Pugil. (the best of both worlds)
The second quest was very easy as DRK75. The NM was {too weak}
The Ordynite is a fairly common drop in the uncapped area of Pso'xja. The tonberries dropped it w/ no problem.
All in all, fun quests! ^^
pointless quest but not a bad reward

I named mine
"Neo Sky Delver"

He said:

"Wel,, I can say that I could've never thought up such an ...um... original name." "Now that that load is off my shoulders, I can return to my regular experiments. Ha, ha, ha!"

Although, Raibaht gave me a "...". So I guess my name was a good one ^^

(yeah I really picked a great name)

FYI: The name doesn't really appear on the side of the airship. You never actually SEE the airship at all. The only thing that happens is during the cutscene with Cid, he refers to it as "whatever-you-named-it (C.I.D.)" in his dialogue.

If you want to bend time and space, do this quest just before triggering the CoP 5-1 cutscene in the port. You basically name the "new ship" while it's in the air. o.O

I had to kill about 10-12 tonberries to get the ordynite. As a 75 mnk/whm it was a little scary since throat stab hit me every time, but otherwise they barely did any damage. The important thing is DO NOT CLICK ON ANY ???'s. I made that mistake and popped two NM dolls (in a trap room that closes when you trigger them) and had to warp out and go all the way back.

This quest is the third of three related quests involving the Promathia story line. No spoilers here.

The other quests are:

Teak Me to the Stars and
Hyper Active

IBHalliwell - I wanted to do the Hyper Active quest; only to discover I had to do the "Teak Me to the Stars" quest first after talking to the quest giver. (Took awhile to complete "Teak Me to the Stars" /sigh but worth it.) Additionally, I discovered there was a third to do, which is fine. Bastok will have airships! Bastok rules!

This is from the koolaid site - by Jaraude:

Client Summary
Raibaht (Cid's Lab, Metalworks) Cid's dream of completing a "semi-perpetual motion engine" can only be realized if he obtains a chunk of legendary ordrynite.

The moral of this story is: don't name Cid's new airship the "Mighty Go-Go Robo"!

Anyway, to clear this quest you'll need to obtain a chunk of Ordrynite (Rare/Ex). This "legendary" item is dropped fairly often from Cryptoberry Plaugers (Stalkers also drop it) in the underground fortress of Pso'Xja. Enter Pso'Xja at the (G-9) tower of Beaucedine Glacier, it is an uncapped area of Pso'Xja. You'll find about three or four Crytoberry spawns on the first and second floors.

Once you've obtained the Ordrynite, travel back to Bastok Metalworks and trade it to Raibaht, Cid's assistant. You will then enter a cutscene and be allowed to choose the name for Cid's new Airship. I've included the list of possible names below.

I don't know what would happen if you chose "Nothing", "Nothing", "Nothing"...

Whatever name you choose will appear on the side of Cid's new airship in a cutscene at the beginning of Chains of Promathia's Chapter 5.

Possible Airship Name Combinations

Edit: you can chose any name in "First Part", then any name in the "Second Part", and any name in the "Finishing With". The names listed in a single row don't have to be chosen together.

First Part - Second Part - Finishing With
Nothing - Nothing - Nothing
Hyper - Terror - Hyper
Ultra - Perfect - Neo
Psycho - Royale - Lovely
Eternal - Gorgeous - Happy
Neo - Pretty - Caller
Lovely - Hell - Hound
Pretty - Fantasy - XI
Final - Stealth - Armored
Extra - Powerful - Brutal
Deadly - Invincible - Buster
Savage - Explosive - Alpha
Aero - Storm - Chief
Pseudo - Fantastic - Provoker
Universal - Duper - Mincer
Exciting - Go-Go - Streak
Celestial - Morphin - King
Super - Retro - Prince
Mighty - Sonic - Power
Mega - Cloud - Robo
Omni - Sky - Delver
Poly - Stellar - Mystic

Note: Cid mentions that he was pretty intent in calling his new machine C.I.D. but was having a hard time making up his mind. He was obviously pretty unhappy with what I ended up settling on. In fact, even Raibaht gave me a "..." after my decision. Looking back, I realize that if I had named the ship the "Celestal Invincible Delver" it would have indeed been the C.I.D. I'm not sure if this would have changed the reward or the response that I received, but it seems like something that someone should experiment with.

Of course, then, someone would have to sacrifice calling their ship the "Savage Hell Provoker" or the "Final Fantasy XI" or something, and that would be for shame. =P

UPDATE: Upon naming the ship Celestial Invincible Deliver Cid gave the same unimpressed response, so there is no extra bonus for naming it C.I.D. ^^ But, if you are truely unhappy with the name of your ship, Raibaht offers to let you change the name if you bring him more Ordrynite.

Reward: 3600 gil and the ability to choose the name of Cid's new machine.
Pre-requisites: Hyper Active
Title Received: Hyper Ultra Sonic Adventurer
Repeatable: Edit: Yes

A Rdm friend and I decided to go finish up this quest last night. First thing to say is that the drop rate for Ordrynite is very very low (at least if you don't have a thf or /thf). I would say that it may be worse than Genkai 1's papyrus.. but there may be more to this..

We went to the uncapped tower (closest to Ranguemont Pass at G6 - aka Tower 2). Right at zone, there are 2 Cryptonberries, further in the room there are 2 more Cryptonberries, and up the stairs there is 1 more. We both were after Pso'Xja Chest keys as well, so we decided to kill all the Cryptonberries there.

I think it was in the first round that a Ordrynite dropped. We were quite happy and thought this shouldn't take long... After about 40-50 more, we still didn't get another Ordrynite. We did see about 6 keys go by. We started to invite anyone on the map into our party to lot for the keys. After about 2 to 2.5 hours of killing, we still go no drop.

Eventually we left and decided to go clear up our Cryptonberry/Tonberry hate in Temple of Uggalepih. I ended up paying 3000 gil, she ended up paying 6000 gil. My hate was reset not too long ago when I helped out my LS doing Sandy 8-2. So the 3000 gil of hate was built up on Cryptonberries. She must have had 3000 gil worth of hate before we went.

So, there is my theory: The more hate you build up the less likely you will get any drop - I think I read someone else had suggested that too. When we first started killing them, we would get Tonberry Coats and Vitriol, but as we killed more and more, there was less and less drops. Before we left, we were getting no drops. We even tried zoning out and back to see if it would improve our drop rate.. it did not.

(Copy-pasted from my post in the quest/missions forum, about this quest.)

Bit more info on the quest itself ... the item you want is called "Ordrynite", and it's dropped by Cryptonberries in Pso'Xja. (I've only seen it off Plaguer and Stalker, in the tower closest to Ranguemont, which thankfully is not level-capped like some of the other towers. I don't know if Harrier or Cutter drop ordrynite or not, but you'll probably be killing the others fast enough that you'll need something else to kill while waiting for repop.)

Cryptonberries are just like their Tonberry equivalents in Uggalepih (Sigh, Throat Stab, Vertical/Lateral Slash, various abilities/traits depending on the enemy's job, etc.), except they don't have Everyone's Grudge. They *do*, however ... still count toward your Tonberry hate, so be sure to drop by Uggalepih and reset your Tonberry hate when you finish in Pso'Xja.

And be careful. When my friend and I - who had been hunting cryptonberries for over six hours - went to Uggalepih to reset hate, he got aggro when he un-invised to talk to the hate-reset "wall". This interrupted his hate resetting, so we decided to kill off the offending Tonberry ... which just before dying, proceeded to use Everyone's Grudge and one-shot him.

So like I said, be careful. Don't actually fight in Uggalepih until you've reset your hate. Sleep things that aggro if need be, but if you've spent a long time in Pso'Xja (and you will, the drop rate for ordrynite *sucks*, though perhaps it's more tolerable if you have a 45+ THF along ... that above six hour cryptonberry hunt I mentioned was for a whopping two ordrynites), you will have a *lot* of Tonberry hate.

At the moment, this is the last quest in that quest series, so there isn't a fourth quest unlocked once you finish this one. This quest is also repeatable (to give the airship a different name and presumably to get another gil reward), if for some reason you're masochistic (or lucky) enough to get yourself a second ordrynite.
