Description

When you fish, you sometimes catch rusted buckets. Foss wants them and will give you 300 Gil for every five you bring him. Fishing near H-11 of Zeruhn Mines with lugworms works well.

Fishing Rusty Buckets

Not been a post here in forever, but I still wanted to let you all know how I fish up 40~50 of these before fishing fatigue sets in in case someone wanted to level Bastok Fame.

I have 7 Commode's in my mog house for 100 Enhancement fishing items. They are pretty cheap now. Then I use a Rogue Rig as that type of bait fishes up the best percentage of items and use a composite rod as it won't break on the buckets. Takes around 2 hours to fish up the max. When you get rusty leggings & subligar over and over you reached your max which is always around the 40~50 area. With this combo you might catch 2~4 fish max.
Easy as pie

I've been doing this quest for a while... I usually end up catching about 10 rusty buckets a day. This quest though doesn't seem to give that much fame wise, which sucks...
But 300gil ^_^ you can't beat that for something that sells for 10 gil sometimes on AH!

Wow, I never bothered to check for any use for these. I've tossed so many of these while fishing, I lost count. Now that I know they are worth 300 gil in a repeatable quest, I'll send them to my Bastok Mule and get some fame out of it too.
A question

Is there a certain time of the day to do this or something? I'm at H-11 in the mines, near a pool of water and I've tried to fish, and have caught nothing? Any ideas would be appreciated...

Use the mog enhancement
# Mar 23 2004 at 1:34 PM Rating: Decent
I got the buckets relatively quickly, but I would suggest gaining the buckets on the side while you're fishing for skill or for cash.

Another thing to do is to get the Mog Enhancement for fishing items. You can do this by placing a furniture item in the layout of your mog house. The furniture item MUST be water based, and you can see that by looking at the item descriptions of furniture items. You can confirm this by looking at your key items list afterward. If it says "mog enhancement: fishing" and menntions something in the description about picking up items while fishing, you're good to go. For those who do not want to buy a furniture item just for this purpose, use a rusty bucket that you may have caught already!

Actually, I got the Moghancement: Fishing with an earth based flowerpot. It would seem like a water based piece of furniture would be the logical choice... maybe both work. As for me, my Mog House has faint earth energy in it... or whatever that Moogle says. ^^
Lug Worms?

Are you sure lug worms are the bait to use in the mines? They are usually for salt water.

That's kind of the point; any bait will catch Rusty items, but none of the fish in that area will go for Lugworms.
Try Kazham for buckets
# Jan 02 2004 at 9:40 PM Rating: Default
I was just fishing in Kazham and reeled in 3 Rusty Buckets in the span of 1/2 hour. I was using a bamboo pole with a sabiki rig. If you've got access to Kazham, give it a try. (Disclaimer: I've fished there for about a total of 3 hours on other occassions, without a single rusty bucket, so your mileage may vary.)

You can fish up buckets, but there's no good way to fish for them in particular (though lugworms seem to help a little). My fishing skill is 11 right now and from time to time I'll fish up a run of these things.

Buckets are heavy items that seem to be more likely to be pulled inside of cities (I've gotten all of mine in Bastok and Windhurst), so you want to be using one of the rods designed specifically for big fish (clothes pole, mithran, etc). Fishing up a heavy item with a light pole makes it more likely you'll break your rod.

At last check in Bastok AH, rusty buckets sell for around 200gil, though I think the price fluctuates up and down; bottom-end price will always be over 50gil, as they can be sold to NPCs for that price.

There is one good use for these things... They count as Furniture in your mog house and can be arranged there. They have a storage value of 1, so you can keep these in your house until you have a chance to put them on the auction house with no net loss in total inventory space (though "storage" is not accessible from rent-a-rooms).

So what good are they as furniture? Well, you ever wonder where the potty is in the mog houses? Get yourself a couple of rusty buckets... lol ;)

Yup

Yeah I have a ton of these since I fish alot. Can you break rusty buckets down into anything? They do sell for about 50 to npc's though so they are worth something.
Fishing

Fishing for buckets can be done with any rod, any bait, as far as I can tell. if you want cheap, go for Willow Rod and Little Worm bait. Willow Rods break quite easily, so don't feel cursed if it snaps. Little Worms are cheapest from Lusianne in San D'Oria (for 3 gil each, I believe) and the Fishing Guild in Windurst. (Between 3g and 6g).

I pull up rusty buckets all the time. I have 11 right now, and I've even thrown some away. They don't stack and are very obnoxious for that reason. I need to head to Bastok soon and get rid of the dang things.

Just go up to the water hit /fish, when it says "Something has caught the hook!" press enter. It doesn't matter which bait you use for rusty buckets but the area around foss little worms would be a good bet.
