Mission Orders

Follow Prishe to Cape Riverne on the Misareaux Coast. It is rumored a wyrm nests there...

Walkthrough

After speaking with Ulmia and returning to Tavnazian Safehold (Mission 2-4), "Ancient Vows" should now appear in your CoP mission log. In this mission, you will be traveling through Riverne - Site #A01, an area that is capped at level 40. Note that as of the September 2008 update, level appropriate gear is not required for level-capped areas. However, it may be recommended for optimum performance.

To begin, head to the Dilapidated Gate in (F-7) of Misareaux Coast to trigger a cut scene featuring the three infamous Tarutarus, Cherukiki, Makki-Cherukiki, Kukki-Cherukki. Once you are on the other side of the gate, you will see a "Spatial Displacement." Entering the displacement will warp you into Riverne - Site #A01.

To get through Riverne - Site #A01, you must go through four more spatial displacements until you finally reach the BC area. To get through the second and third displacements, you will need to trade a Dragon Scale, which is dropped by Firedrakes. They spawn in the area between the first and second displacement. You will need two Dragon Scales to get through the entire Riverne - Site #A01.

Once you enter from Misareaux Coast, the first spatial displacement is in (L-8). Once you enter this displacement you will be in the area where the Firedrakes spawn. After you have two Dragon Scales, trade one scale to the "Unstable Displacement" in (G-10) and you will be warped into the third area. This area has Atomic Clusters that aggro to sight and magic, so get invisible up and head to the displacement in (E-10) and trade the other Dragon Scale and enter the unstable displacement. This next area is filled with incredibly tough mobs that have true sight, so be careful. Just walk along to right edge to reach the last displacement.

Entering this displacement will warp you to an uncapped area of Monarch Linn where you can enter the Level 40 cap Boss BC area. This uncapped area is a good place to go over fighting strategy and make sure all macros are working properly. After entering the Battlefield, you will receive a cut scene. Now is a good time for the White Mage to cast Reraise. Defeating the three Mammet-19 Epsilons will end this mission.

The Mammet-19 Epsilons are capable of switching jobs during battle. Yellow Liquid, when used, will lock the targeted Mammet's job for around 30 seconds. The different jobs are identified by the weapon the mammet is wielding. The mammets' jobs and abilities are as follows: In any given form, they can use the move Tremorous Tread, which does AOE Damage and stun. It can be absorbed by shadows.

  • No weapon - The mammets' original form.
    • Transmogrification - While active, the mammet will absorb all physical damage dealt to it and convert it to HP.
  • Sword - Fast attack speed
    • Scission Thrust - Directional AOE attack
    • Sonic Blade - AOE Attack
    • Velocious Blade - Five hit single target attack
  • Staff - Slow attack speed, uses -ga elemental magic, has lower defense.
    • Mind Wall - While in effect, any damage dealt to the mammet by elemental magic spells will be absorbed and converted to HP.
    • Psychomancy - AOE Apsir type effect that drains 80+ MP from everyone in range.
  • Polearm - Hits hard but attack speed is rather slow.
    • Gravity Wheel - AOE Damage with Gravity effect.
    • Microquake - Single target damage
    • Percussive Foin - Direction AOE damage

The most common strategy is to have two of the mammets kited and to kill them off one at a time. Jobs that are good at kiting in this mission are:

  • RDM/NIN with good evasion gear
  • BST with jug pets
  • SMN with Carbuncle

Once you defeat all of the Mammet-19 Epsilons, there will be a cut scene after which you will be teleported to South Gustaberg.

No Kiting needed...
# Feb 06 2007 at 10:35 AM Rating: Decent
I am still not sure why this strategy lists kiting as the "recommended" tactics.

You don't need to kite you can fight them straight up.

War/Nin
Nin/War
Nin/War
Rng/Nin or Blm/Whm
Rdm/Blm or Rdm/Whm
Whm/Blm or Rdm/Whm

You can fight each one straight up with the War/Nin and Nin/Wars soloing on each one, and the Rdm and Whm healing (RDM has convert at this level and can double his MP), combined with the Blm or Rng picking one target at a time to help on.

You still need all the Orange Juice/Yagudo Drinks for mages and Hi-Potions for everyone listed above, but do it this way and you will never lose control of the fight. I've even heard of Pld parties in standard formation beating this one several pages back.

Obviously everyone still need to be good at what they do, because this BCNM does require you to be on your toes, but controlling the fight is the key to winning, and even makes it easy.

When we did it this way, the outcome was never in doubt.
Thf ftw!

1/1 (on Dancingharuhi) and tbh this was almost too easy.

We used the Super Kite method and here was the setup.

NIN/WAR
WAR/NIN
BST/NIN
THF/NIN
RDM/WHM
WHM/BLM

As the THF I made sure I stocked up on evasion (capped at 123 with +39 inc. equip + food {Jack'o'Lantern for +10 evasion}) and started by using my set of Powder Boots (Enhancement - Flee).

I aggroed all 3 by running straight through the middle and then began to run around clockwise while the NIN voked the first one and pulled it back to the steps in the tunnel where everyone else was. The RDM followed after me and stood in the centre of the field to heal me if needed.

What follows was quite possibly the easiest fight ever.

I just kited around and around, using flee when they switched to mage forms to try and hit me with waterga, firaga and aeroga but even though some of these hit (average damage about 80), the RDM just healed me anyway :D.

I got hit a total of once by a physical attack.

As soon as first one was dead, NIN voked the second and I just kept kiting until they needed the last one which I reeled in and we torched.

No 2hrs or Yellow Liquids were used as this was our dry run XD.

Record set of 12min 5sec as it was just after Emergency Maintainence.

Did this last night, PT setup:

NIN/WAR
DRK/THF
WAR/NIN
RDM/NIN
BLM/WHM
BRD/NIN (me)

First time we wiped due to mixed up hate. BRD and WAR both used 2 hours on the first attempt, so no SV or Might Misses.

Entered the BC the second time. Got protect and shell up, ate food, drinks, cast Madrigal + Mambo for Melee's. Mambo + Vivacious Etude for the BRD.

As a BRD all I had to kite with was Elegy, so I set up macros for an eva+ gear set and a chr+ gear set. I also ate Tav. Tacos for the extra Vit.

RDM and BRD each grabbed a Mammet and kited while NIN, WAR, and DRK destroyed the first Mammet. I saw the Mammet I was kiting switch to RNG, so I started hitting it with yellow liquid.

After first Mammet went down, I brought my Mammet back to the cave with the Melee. I recasted buffs and went back out to help bounce hate with the RDM while kiting. 2nd Mammet went down and took the DRK with it.

RDM brought the final Mammet back. I recast all buffs again, RDM went back to majorly debuff and help the BLM heal, BLM started nuking. BRD started meleeing. Last mammet went down in no time.

We killed all 3 AND got the record time of 13:37 (that's right 13:37). BLM/WHM as a Main healer, BRD as a Kiter. This party cleaned house on this mission and was far from the 'optimal'. We prepared in advance, got yellow liquids, hi pots, echo drops, reraise items and we planned everything out. It was a lot of fun and not very hard at all. In fact I though the promies were harder than this fight and I was in an 'optimal' setup for those.

this was sooo easy this was easier than 2-3. my pt set up was WAR/NIN[me] NIN/WARx2 BLM/WHMx2 WHM/BLM. we went up fully buffed NINs grabbed the side mammets and kited around while i voked middle and killed. when my mammet gota a spear and became DRG we used a yellow potion then once he started absorbing pysical atts i turned and BLMs killed. next, we went to the other mammet, tho we kinda hit a rut coz the NINs were losing alota hp but no1 died killed the 1st NINs while the 2nd kept kiting. the 2nd mammet went down fast then went to the 3rd once it was deaa watched CS and left we beat it in 19:54 w/ record being 15:00~
Completed first try/ here is the setup

Beat this with only one death (me).

Nin/war
mnk/nin
smn/whm
smn/whm
thf/nin
whm/smn (me)

We had 2 smns kite (distract) 2 mammets off to the side while the rest of us killed the first mammet.
Mnk and thf 2hred on second mammet. Be sure to use yellow liquid when u can.
On the last mammet, smns 2hred. I also used benediction with a 1/4 or less left. I died while distracting mammets from smns 2hr.

I mainly healed tank (especially when shadows were down), then focused on mnk when he 2hred. Occasionally, one mammet being kited would get off a ga spell when it was a blm and hit a few ppl.

Successfully completed first try.

Suggestion: Mages must bring a few hi-ethers or elixirs and 2-3 yag drinks
Melee a few hi potions, HP regen drink (optional)

Although no one died but me. i had rr on so it wasnt a problem.

did it yesterday 1/1, easy fight

PLD/WAR
BLU/NIN
WAR/NIN
RNG/NIN
WHM/BLM
RDM/WHM

Enter the BC, use buffs, food and reraise earring, then full rest.
The Pld pull one to the entrance, the rest /assist the Pld, mages stay away to avoid AoE.
Ignore the other two mammets, just focus in one, kill it as fast as posible, then wipe.
When the two mammets return to their original position, reraise everyone, buff, eat food and wait til weakened off.
Pld pull again one mammet, same as before, focus in one and ignore the other, but now DDs use their 2h and the mammet will die fast.
After that only one mammet left, kill it and enjoy.
1/4 on this.

1/4 on this fight.

First 3 attempts were with PLD WAR MNK RDM SMN SMN that ended very badly. I won't even go into detail because the next time I tried worked flawlessly and I'd reccomend that setup.

Second try we went with NIN NIN NIN BLU RDM WHM.

Strategy: Each NIN is assigned a healer and each 'team of 2' duo's a mob. Nins bring yellow liquid(not required but helps) and hi potions. Mages bring drinks and ether if they want. Basically NINs just tank mobs like normal except these mobs can sometimes absorb physical OR magic attacks, so if you see your attacks are healing them, just switch to other type of attack. NINs can turn and spam ninjitsu when needed etc.

Finished fight in 15 mins, nobody even came close to dying with second try. I'll reccomend 3 blink tank, 3 healer to anyone from here on out.

Just finished this last night. Last week we made a 0/3 run with:
NIN NIN DRG SMN SMN RDM
On the first 2 losses we tried the kite method, NIN DRG melee 1, SMN SMN kite 1, NIN kite 1, with RDM back and forth healing melee and NIN kite. Basically the kiting caused interference and -aga killed the SMN kiters. Then the DRG had to leave, so we tried with 5.
This went a little better, but we still lost. NIN SMN melee 1, NIN SMN melee 1, RDM kite 1. This went well until the RDM got interrupted and died. We lasted better this way, which changed our battle plan for last night:

1/1 Winning setup: NIN NIN PLD SMN WHM RDM

NIN/SMN duo 1 mammet, NIN/WHM duo 1 mammet, PLD/RDM duo 1 mammet. Kept the RDM with PLD for the extra MP pool. Everything went smoothly, as NIN with capped evasion merits, the mammets missed about 1/3. Hacking away with healers out of AOE range, it got near the end, and we lost a NIN to a nasty TP move. Since my mammet was nearly dead, SMN used Astral Flow, killed my mammet, and the last 2 went down easily. Clear time just under 15 minutes. If I went again I would recommend NINx3 Healerx3, melee away -- kiting doesn't leave much room for error.

FYI - we tried the glitch once, and it didn't work.

Skill FTW!

stupid puppet...
# Oct 06 2006 at 1:56 PM Rating: Decent
whatever ya do, don't bring a Pup with you on this fight, omg tryed 2wice, 1st tiem got asses handed to us. Second time we were doing great, almost had all 3 of the bastards dead, but pups puppet kept on hitting Eplision while it had that absorb crap up. >< all that work just for a puppet to build HP back up. By the time we realized it was the puppet, the mob was to high to beat in under the time limit. I'ma try to find another PT to get this done, I need soboro for my sam.

Did this with my LS Static what a few minutes ago, it couldn't have gone more smoothly and thought I would share our plan in the hope other people can benefit from it^^.

**Please note we failed three times before this and the giltch as posted below did NOT work, we quickly found ourselfs dead.

Our Set Up:

[NIN/WAR] [NIN/WAR] [NIN/WAR] [WHM/BLM] [BLM/WHM] [BLM/WHM]

We had NO yellow liquids whatsoever for this so don't do what I did and tell your party that this is impossible without yellow liquids as it is possible and it is easy.

The simple plan was double team. Each NIN would take one and they would be accompanied by a mage for support. Each mammet starts in their "no-job" state and stay that way for a good minute and a half. They hit slow and this is the time to land key buffs such as Paralyze/Silence/Slow/Blind. They buffs are NOT dispelled when the mammet changes job as I read on one site.

You simply tank far away from your other NIN friends so if you should suffer an aga only you and your support mage will be hit. We basically alterted our mages to any job changes and they silenced BLMs, Parad WARs etc

It worked really well, buffs stuck all the time the fight went on and very little resists.

Once one is dead one NIN will join the other and double team the last %. Then finish it up.

Remember if it starts healing itself from your melee attacks. Turn around and spam Elemental Wheel!

Good luck and I hope this helps you guys

Our setup was NIN,NIN,RDM,BLM,DRG,PLD

After we buffed up, the pld voked/tanked the middle while the nins kited the left and right epsilons. We used a Yellow Liquid on this one. When we got the pld's epsilon to 50% the blm Manafonted while the pld used Invincible to keep hate. This pretty much finished off the first one. After that the other two were easier.
We just picked them off one by one.

Honestly I think I have a bettter stragety:

Main tank (nin or pld), whm, Melee DD, 2x trainers (rdm/nin or nin/war), assistant mage.

Fight:

Main tank pulls the middle one and the trainers train the assign right and left one. These people should have lots of hi potions + since they are cheap now, and au laits.

Whm main job is to cure the main tank and assist heal the trainers if he has time. Yagodu drinks, hi ethers, and cookies!

DD needs to be a very well equiped person with high attack food. But this shouldn't be a problem these days. This person is responsible for killing the main tank's Epsilon.

Assistant mage can be a rdm, whm, of blm. This person is responsible to assist the trainers by healing them and debuffing the Epsilons being trained at the time. Yag drinks mainly needed since they aren't going to have time to rest or eat cookies, pop ethers.

When the main tank's Epsilon is down he zergs the weakest trainer's Epsilon. That trainer starts attacking the new main tank's epsilon or assists the other trainer if he's having problems; usually the latter. The assistant mage is still helping the trainer.

This stratgety works better because if one trainer goes down early, it usually means a whipe. The assist mage debuffing and curing helps a lot.
easier...

I just did this last night with a set-up like this:

NIN/WAR
WHM/BLM
RDM/NIN (me)
RDM/NIN
MNK/WAR
DRK/NIN

DRK stunned -agas with Stun and WS (when Stun was down). MNK 2 houred the first epsilon once NIN had established some hate. It was a fairly ugly fight, but we managed to beat it on our 3rd try. Our first try I really felt we would have won (because we had all our meds then), but the reason we failed is because the WHM CURED one of the kiters. Your strategy will not work, because the kiters have so little hate. Even when I was debuffing my epsilon, once the WHM tossed one Cure 3 on me it was all over. It went straight for her and killed her in just a few hits. If you do it with RDM/NIN kiters (or SMN or BST), they have to be completely self-sustaining. I found kiting as a RDM/NIN to be quite difficult, even though I have pretty good gear. A person in my LS recommended having a second NIN take care of the 2 mobs with a WHM assisting, while the rest of the party kills the first. To me this sounds much more reasonable, especially because that NIN can voke them off the WHM. Hope this helps.

Our Setup was

WAR/NIN (me)
NIN/WAR
WHM/BLM
BLM/WHM
BST/NIN
RDM/NIN

RDM/NIN and BST/NIN kiting mammets around. NIN tanked and I smacked it around like a madman while BLM nuked.

First time we had rdm die while we were beating on the 2nd one and we wiped. We reraised but ran out of time on the last mammet (40% grrr).

Went back in same strategy no deaths (close at one point) and done in 12min 35sec (less than minute off record of 11min 54sec).

Edit: This was as Xephy

Thought Id add my story for this one.

Setup :

War/Mnk
Blu/Nin
Whm/blm
Rdm/blm <me>
Pld/war
Thf/nin

We decided that myself and pld would kite while the War tanked first of 3.
Then we puled one off of pld after first was dead then he would takeover tanking and then my was last.

Well first attempt didnt go so well considering that we failed to notice the damage absorb abilty switching on. War did a nice 319 Sturmwind to heal it just as it switched ><. there was no catchin up after that.

round 2:

tried again and same plan except we knew of damage recover now. we had decided that itd be best to unlock and turn around and thf would turn to stike to check to see when it wore off every few secs, when it was good we all went at it again.
Only one problem came up that really didnt hurt as bad as we feared. The third one that was following me became glued to pld after he started tanking the second one. i did all i could to pull him for kiting and no go, pld stood there tankin both.

Closes we came to failure 2nd time was one after a aoe spam from both (PLD and whm 2hr used at same time FTW)and near end when whm ran outta yag drinks and mp.

We had no yellow liquids for this as none were on AH at the time, pick up 3 HI pot tanks and made all of the hi pots outta them (did this while ppl got rdy).
3 tanks at 10k a peice vs 2k a peice on hi-pot that doesnt stack. War and 2 kitiers had most of Hi-pots and rest had a few wich were traded for second try to kiters.
reraising
# Aug 13 2006 at 5:30 AM Rating: Decent
2 things that need to be mention or put up higher again. the things agro at ring beginning basically if you are whipe in ring you're boned don't reraise til you out.

i think the next time I do it I'm doing 3 whm/blm(smn) 3 nin/war and fighting near enterance so if we get whiped we can reraise with little trouble.

Ran this last night, counting on the glitch, but when we tried it it didn't work (tried with a level 75 person then a level 40 person, both did not get aggro) so it seems SE has fixed this. Luckily we were able to beat it anyway with 5 people:

NIN/WAR (me)
RDM/NIN (kite)
RDM/NIN (kite)
WHM/THF (healing me)
RNG/NIN

I was surprised how well the RDM/NINs did (used slow/paralyze/bind/utsusemi AFAIK); one of them ended up kiting both when the other dropped. I think the only items used were some hi-ether and yagudo drinks (by the WHM) and some hi-potion and yellow liquid (by me). I'd say RNG is a great DD on this one because they can stay out of range of the -ga spells, and bloody bolts were proc'ing quite well for when they did get hit.

I actually parsed myself this fight, and with overall +9 AGI from equipment, capped parry and evade, I was able to dodge 26% of the time and parry 7.5% of the time. Eating meat with +19 accuracy I managed 89% hit rate.

I did this last night with a group of LS members, we were set up with
nin/war (main tank)
pld/war (kite)
rdm/blm (kite)
drg/thf (me)
war/nin

we were wondering how well the rdm/blm would do kiteing, if she'd live long enough lol, but by the time we go around to the last mob, the pld/war, and the rdm/blm were doing great and had almost full HP, all in all this was a very succesful mission, we had preped with alot of yellow die or w/e it was, and we beat it in 15 min, cleartime record on our server is 12 min. we had no deaths or even near deaths, we had amazeing teamwork, so i think as long as you go in with a PT of ppl who know what there doing, this is an easy mission, just a long fight.

today, myself, a few ls mates, and a few friends on carby server went in to 2-5 and used the glitch, we won, and then finished the next CS's after that. i was standing in jeuno after finishing the cs in ru'lude gardens, and next thing i knew i was sitting in jail. the gm appeared shortly after, told me i was there because my party used a "game explot" to beat the mission. and put a warning on my account.
so im sure the glitch will be fixed soon, and even if it isnt, then know that you can get jailed for this.

# Jul 19 2006 at 11:36 PM Rating: Default
That's Bull. That's like people being thrown in jail for getting on the airship railing.

But if they fixed the glich they better fixed it where they won't att people in the cs at all.

And maybe if they didn't make these missions so rediculously hard people won't use exploits of glitches. It's not like you add a software program or twick a thing or zone warp or all this other real cheating stuff. It's not really cheating if everyone could do it. Be like throughing all the NINs in jail for tanking when they weren't ment to.

Guess I'm kinda showed why I'm POedgalka <.<. They do this **** and they won't do crap about the gilsellers.
