Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Moon Orb, which is obtained by trading 60 Beastmen's Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Moon Orb to the Burning Circle inside Qu'Bia Arena and choose to enter the battle Brothers D'Aurphe.

Up to 6 people may enter and you will all receive a level 60 restriction. You have 30 minutes to win. You will fight 4 Shadow NMs:

Strategies

Recommended party setup is 2 BLMs, 2 RNGs, RDM, and a tank. Ninja and Paladin are probably best. It is VERY important to keep the mobs clustered close together for sleep. Elemental seal/Sleepga II at the start and just keep these things slept! BLMs should focus only on sleeping. Having a Ninja tank is good because then your Red Mage hopefully won't run out of MP.

Silence and kill the BLM first because the -ga spells he casts will annihilate your party. Then kill the Ranger, followed by Thief, and then Warrior. Once you get the BLM out of the way, it's way easier and once the ranger is dead, its cake. (especially with two blms) We tried a bard instead of a second blm and it was a disaster!

Above all else, DO NOT FIGHT THIS BCNM ON DARKSDAY!!!! If you do not heed this advice, you will fail miserably. The problem with Darkdsay is they just get too strong and they start resisting Sleep (funny enough sleep is dark element though). I went as BLM and my Elemental seal + Sleepga II stuck for all of 20 seconds after which the RDM and BRD couldn't sleep and neither could I. So we three died, followed by the rest of our party and we had to homepoint. >.<

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 25 2005 at 3:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why, why, WHY would you bring a blackmage to sleep undead shadows? They have the weakest posible sleep against undead, even with elemental seal you'll find it resisted and wears off too quickly.

The funny thing is...my static party bard happens to be one of the richest players on our entire server. He has over +72 worth of chr, and he's tarutaru, and even HE couldn't sleep these things.

I read up on this on Mysterytour, which had a little blurb on it...another party tried to do this with a brd and they said the same thing...the brd was constantly resisted.

Blm + elemental seal works better in this case, I'm telling you. I have capped drk magic and capped enfeebling magic and other than that one time on darksday, my sleepga II had no problem sticking long enough to do the trick. When the mobs awoke, our rdm elemental seal + sleep IIed one of the ones awake...by this time, one of the shadows was already dead, the melee pulled the second, and we only had 2 left to worry about sleeping. Once you kill the blm, this is cake...if you know what you're doing.

All shadows resist Lullaby, or at least non-fomor, non-hydras. I learned this on coffer hunts in Eldieme, sleeping adds of bones and Spriggans. Bones would sleep 100% of the time, Spriggans straight up resist 50% or more. The BLM's there never had a problem sleeping shadows, but they sure as hell can't sleep bones.

I'd say this this to do with elemental resists. Bones have a high resistence to dark(which is blm sleep's element) and shadows either have high resist to light element(lullaby) or an innate sleep resist. The second is very unlikely, because SE would do it in the form of PLD job trait, and I'd get a "Resist! The Spriggan resists the effects of sleep." when I failed.

End result, don't expect brd to sleep everything, blm is far superior in many circumstances and this is one of them.

While I am not sure about the needle and Kakanpu, I can confirm that it drops ALL the rse boots. Lol, had I known that when I submitted this info that it would have been posted word for word, I would have edited it a little more carefully and added more info ^^;;

It definately drops all lvl 62 rse boots though..hume male and female, galka, tarutaru male and female, and mithra river gaiters. It also drops flare, and a couple of smaller items like torquoise. Can't remember exactly which jewels though. Ask me any questions! I'd love to help anybody complete this BCNM with any advice I can give ^^
