Description

You must be on Chapter 4 of Chains of Promathia to get this quest.

Talk to Chemioue located at (J-6) on the upper level of Tavnazian Safehold.

Talk to Tressia after you talk to Chemioue. Located just beside Chemioue.

Talk to Parelbriaux located at (K-7) on the upper level for a cutscene.

Talk to Ondieulix located at (I-7) on the main level. Watch the cutscene to activate the quest.

Next, head to (G-6) in Lufaise Meadows and find the ??? during fog weather, usually during 2:00-7:00 when there is no weather icon.

A Flytrap NM Baumesel will spawn, defeat it. (can be done with 1 group)After the NM has been defeated select the ??? again for a cutscene. Return to the Tavnazian Safehold and talk with Ondieulix.

You have to talk to Tressia after you talk to Chemioue before you can get teh CS from Parelbriaux

I dont know if the person who wrote this naturally talked to her but if you don't and you talk to Parelbriaux he says something about a Mithra Sin Hunter looking in Prishe's room.

Hope this helps for people stuck on teh 3rd CS and cant get it

I just wanted to share my experience with this in case it proves useful to someone in the future.

I wanted this for my SMN and really couldn't afford it. With a 163 Staff skill on my 75WHM/37BLM I spent 13 hours waiting for fog. I had absolutely no clue what I was getting into as I was told Wind weather was fog and later Dark weather was fog; the former posts here are the only reason I learned otherwise. Even with weather effects on, I didn't even notice a change of when the fog appeared. The sky appeared completely light gray at 5:11 when I was able to pop the NM.

The fight was a lot easier than I had expected. I managed to keep Slow, Paralyze, and Dia II on it the entire time and nuked with Banish III and Tier 2 black magic. I had Regen III on myself, but other than that and RR3 I had no buffs or food.

Yeah, I didn't notice much change in weather when fog occurred. The sky was just a little bit lighter (if at all) then versus at dawn of a normal day.

Took a snapshot of the sky nearby if it helps anyone:

fog at dawn

I flagged CoP 4-2 last night, and was able to get this quest immediately afterwards. From prior experience of watching clusters pop in Lufaise, I knew that fog only really happens there around dawn, when no other weather effects are present. I headed out to G-6, waited until the thunder weather that was in effect died down at around 5am, and then popped the NM, it was that easy. Me and a monk that was also there killed the NM, and I finished the quest.

I'll be using the rope for my WHM, but it also sells for around half a million gil on my server. If you're having trouble popping the NM, just wait until dawn when there's no other weather, and you should be ok. Hope this helps, good luck! ^^
Final Cut Scene Problem Possibly Figured Out
# Mar 15 2006 at 5:24 PM Rating: Good
Ok I think I figured out the final CS problem some people are having. It has nothing to do with not having enough fame to continue the quest because once you start the quest you have enough fame to do the quest. I beleive the solution to this problem is that after activating the quest you must wait until one night of foggy weather has passed. Why do I think this? Because in order for the monster to appear it must be foggy. And I think it says something about it being foggy out in the 3rd CS if I remember right. I am not sure though if you need to be in the region when it's foggy in that area or if you can just leave for a few days and if it was foggy while you were gone you then you can get the CS. But that's my theory so don't say I'm wrong if someone finds out its something else. It's just a theory.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 27 2006 at 7:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I had the same problem, seems I accidently activated the 'X Marks the Spot' quest when finishing one of the PMs (The one you zone into his chambers to get CS, the guide I had said to talk to him and this activated the quest where he talks about mithra trackers). I followed the npc order listed and no CS for 3rd npc so this is what I did:

*Some additional fame beyond unlocking Chapter 4 may be needed.

I had to finish the Mannequin cycle (Behind the Smile, Knocking on Forbidden Doors) before it was made available to me.

Talked with Gennoue, top of the ramp going to the 3rd floor, and he will tell you the weather.

My forcasts were 4 straight days of cloudy/thunder, then cloudy/sunshine, then just cloudy.

But I never got fog while waiting at the ???

It would be nice if the weatherman told you when it would be foggy.

*Edit*

Finally got Fog (earthsday WAX 88%), Weatherman said "the weather will be cloudy with a chance of sunshine"

I think fog happens after 03:00, I clicked on the ??? at 2:01, and nothing happened, then clicked on it at 3:01 and it spawned. I didn't actually see fog until 3:20 or so.

foggy weather

another easy way to tell if its foggy weather is to equip widescan and look for cluster bombs. there's a NM in misareaux coast who only pops during this same foggy weather. if the bombs are out its foggy. i have weather turned off so this is how i tell when its foggy. just check scan every 30 seconds or so to see it.

Parelbriaux is also a quest starter for another quest, I had the same problem and all I had to do was talk with him a second time.

Having trouble with this, it's never foggy in Lufaise Meadows. I've spent probably a total of a couple game weeks there and it's pretty much just overcast or lightning all of the time. (Edit: Yes, weather effects are turned on.)

How the hell did you people do this? :/

Just a friendly reminding:
As a 75 RDM i got argo by the elemental near the ??? when i was camping for a right weather. If i was not Rdm i would already be dead....
so be careful with using magic around ??? because elementals there argo Lv75..
thank you

It checked tough- to me at 65, when i got agro because of casting refresh >_< ... didnt see it.
I managed to defeat it. Silence works wonder, buff up barelement and poked it to death with an enspelled dagger >.>

{fun} {death} {excitement} {You can have this.}

Edit: This was vs Thunder Ele. Silence dont work on Wind. But you can sleep those if they cast AM. Just carry a few echo drops and dont DoT them.

Solo'd this as Brd69/Whm34, VERY easy. I was able to land Elegy and Requiem w/ no trouble (was using sword vs. Light/Earth staves). Was able to keep Both Ballad's up and Blink and Stoneskin. Took a while to kill (cause i'm a bard...) but I took next to no dmg the entire fight. He does do a move that puts you to sleep and also heals his HP (not sure if it's the same ability, but I do believe it was). This woulda not been a problem had I not had stoneskin/blink up, took him a while to go through both buffs to wake me up finally, lol.

Worst part was waiting on the foggy weather to spawn the NM, waited SEVERAL hours before it would spawn. All in all though, worth it, 250k for the Powerful Rope on Cerberus.

Good Luck all!

re: Fog

Fog only occurs between 0200 and 0700. If it's not morning, it is not going to be foggy.

With respect to rarity - it's pretty random, I can't estimate how often it comes up. I sat around for three game-days killing Leshys before I had a foggy morning.

The ??? is up all the time - it just doesn't do anything unless clicked by someone on the quest when there's fog. ^^

68WHM here; I could solo this NM. It's laughable. It's a flytrap-class enemy and is weak, weak, weak.

Correct quest-name is `Petals for Parelbriaux`.

Once you complete Chapter 3, zoning into Tavnazian Safehold will automatically activate Chapter 4, and you can then activate this quest.
I know this because I tried to activate it 2 days before I comped Chapter 3, at the time not knowing what fame or mission level needed.

On an aside for those who don't know, once you comp 3 and activate 4, Jueno AH also becomes available in the safehold at the opposite end of the walkway from the nomad moogles.
