Summary

If you want to befriend the infamous Cat Burglar, then you'll have to give her something she likes.

Walkthrough

Talk to Nanaa Mihgo at J-3 in Windurst Woods, and then talk to her henchman, Cha Lebagta, who is standing near her. Then trade four Yagudo Bead Necklaces to Nanaa Mihgo to complete the quest and receive your reward.

This quest is repeatable and helps to increase you Tenshodo fame. This quest will not increase your fame in Windurst.

no you don't need fame, I have no windy fame and have this quest, nanaa won't ask for 4 yag necklases, she will ask for a gift and the gift she means is the 4 necklases, so just trade them to her, after talkling to her a couple of times.

she will give you 200gil per 4 necklases, and at about 200+ necklases you will be able to get the utsesmi quest open.

Yes, you have to complete whatever THF AF you have open to get this quest. I had the same issue because I was on THF AF2 at the time.

Knocked out THF AF2, and didn't talk to her again as a THF. Easy cheesy, back to killing Yagudo by the hundreds.

Windurst Mission 2-1 will also block your ability to do this quest, since the mission involves Nanaa. If you are working fame hardcore, I would suggest holding off on the mission until you have time to complete it all in one shot.
Getting a mule to Utsusemi

Decided to see what it would take to get my retired mule from zero Norg fame up to the Utsusemi quest, since everyone's experiences seem to vary. I chose to do necklaces, since it seemed much more efficient than zinc.

My results:

- Mule is Taru, Windy allegiance, level 4 Windy fame.
- Nanaa Mihgo gave me the Bastok rock quest, yet I was still able to trade necklaces to her with the rock quest still open.
- 148 necklaces gave me a 161 riceball price and level 3 fame in Norg (I was curious, so I went to Norg earlier than expected in order to check my fame). With level 3 fame, I activated and completed both Keal's Tonko and the rusty leggings quest.
- 200 necklaces gave me level 4 Norg fame, and allowed me to activate and complete the Utsusemi quest. Leviathan quest could be activated as well.

Recommendations:

- TH1 helps a ton with necklace drops. I estimate that the drop rate was about 70% with it, and 30% without it.
- BLM/THF is the most efficient job combo, mainly because of warp.
- The eastern side of Giddeus is usually less crowded, as is the underground connecting tunnel with the two NMs. So farming tended to be better there for me.
- If you cannot utilize the West Saru outpost warp, set your HP in Windurst Woods. Farm, Warp, trade necklaces, Warp, run to Warp Wizard at Choco stables, have him warp you Waters, then run back to Giddeus. Rinse, repeat.
- Once you have the necessary fame, make sure you set your HP in Norg before doing the Tonko and Utsusemi quests. This saves time, since you can warp/bloodport after reaching and clicking on the necessary ???s. Besides, sneak can wear at the most inopportune times, so it's good to play it safe.
- Do yourself a favor and buy your rusty items from another AH if you don't plan to fish them up yourself. For example, subligar in Sandy was 1200 each. In Norg, they went for 3000 each.

First there are no quests that "Lower fame" that any1 has experienced ( or have i ). Yag necklace quest only raises norg fame ( thats why its a tenshodo quest no a windy ) same for the zinc ore quest. I do not belive rank 5 gives you fame ( i think it should after you see the cs ). if you want to farm the necklaces take a lvl 6-8 job and just go around and wtfpwn the yags , you get a better drop rate that way. As for how many to turn in, well 200+ would be good ( i recomend necklaces easier drop + cheap + faster ) maybe more its always good to be safe then tkae an extra trip. 200x200= 40,000 for levianthan and utsusemi not bad IMO for those lazy ppl out there. =) lets not 4get the 200gil refund XD x200

( based on 20% experience and 80% Common Sense!!)

The Selbina moss quest lowers Norg fame. I'm not the only one that can prove it. But my rice ball price went from 161 to 164 after handing in 6 stacks of moss.

The tenshodo is a guild, and thusly the prices are affected by how many people buy items from the store. If people purchase rice balls from the tenshodo, the price the next day will be slighly higher. This was true even before the update that made this even more dramatic.

When I got Utsusemi fame I had rank 6 fame in San d'Oria. The elvaan there said something along the lines of "it's all thanks ta me" at the time. After doing the selbina quest enough times to get Hero fame in San d'oria, the Elvaan in Norg said nothing different.

Norg fame is NOT AFFECTED by Only the Best in Selbina.

Ok, if anyone bothered talking to NPC's (lol) you would know a bit about the storyline behind Windurst.

Yagudo necklaces are *illegal contraband*, since the Windy officials are attemping to promote good relationships with the yags (i.e. the quest you get from Ranpi-Monpi (sp?) at the cooking guild).

Nanna Mihgo, is a thief/outlaw (think about what the people are like at Norg).

Anyhoo, by all logic, it would not make any sense that turning illegal contraband into an outlaw would promote your Windy fame =/.

From what I've heard, this quest *lowers* Windurst fame, but how much (if at all) I can't confirm.

I've turned in somewhere on the order of 250++ yagudo necklaces, and my Windurst fame hasn't risen.

I'm sure S-E wouldn't make a quest that lowers fame in one place exponentially while only slightly raising it somewhere else- as with this game, and any other MMO, things have to be even for the game to work. For example, despite all the debates about jobs being better than another- if there was indeed *one job* that was better than all other jobs, 99% of FFXI players would be that job =p. Diff jobs are better in diff situations, depending on the types of mobs you're fighting, the makeup of the party, etc...

Anyways, point of the matter is, by the way MMO's are designed, you can tell that even if this quest lowers Windy fame, it would have to be either an even tradeoff with Norg fame, or (my opinion) is the ratio is probably set up so that you'll lose a small amount of Windy fame in comparison to the amount of Norg fame you'd gain.
Fame

This quest raises Norg and I would assume windy fame since the quest is in windy. I don't think it lowers fame anywheres. Getting rank 5 (joining tenshodo) does in fact give you norg fame. Before i did rank 5 i couldnt talk to tenshodo people in bastok (except zinc ore guy) after gettign rank 5 however i could. I then activated the quest for the belt (gettings the two horns) However i then went to Selbina and did the La Theine Cabbage quest, once i returned to Bastok the tenshodo guys would no longer talk to me, including the guy who activated the belt quest. I have yet to get rampaging horn so I'm not sure if he will still let me trade them to him or not.

The NPC purrs, talks about her two henchmen,
Anyway, ill accept these as a token blah blah...

After 25 necklaces or so, she says:

What a clever kitten, heres some pocket money from my kitty.

My question is... does she usally say the second one or is this something new from the update that lets you guage your fame?

Thanks ^^

I'm curious about this myself tho mine is slightly different. I don't think the switch from the henchmen line to the clever kitten line means anything I think she will only talk about them once provided you talk to the 2 mithra's standing near where she is before you give her a set of necklaces and the clever kitten line is either the standard line or shes assuming you figured out what wants on your own hence you being clever.

I've been bringing 8 necklaces at once so I can get 2 completions per trip. After the intial henchmen thing she called me a clever kitten every time I traded with her until this morning I brought her my 8 necklaces for the first 4 she gave me the kitten line again BUT when I traded her the second set of 4 I had on me her response changed. She began saying "Just because I accepted yourrrr token of esteem doesn't mean you can get away with murderrrr".

I went to Jueno since the common belief (or myth cuz I'm still not sure personally) is the price of rice balls reflects your norg fame. When I got there tho they were the same exact price they were when I went there last night and checked and she was still calling me clever.

So I'm really curious if the change in dialog means anything fame wise I'm not too keen on the idea trying to go back to Norg to see if I can get the Tonko:ichi quest now cuz I already deleveled to 29 just trying to get there to unlock ninja in the first place lol
----

my skepticism on the rice ball thing has been settled I remembered (or was reminded rather) that the NPC is technically a guildseller so the reason I didn't see a price change was due to sales adjusting the price

Easy Yag Hunting
# Feb 20 2005 at 11:15 AM Rating: Default
Ok, listen up and listen good, here is the quickest way to get the quest fame.

We begin by Leveling NIN/WAR to Lv12. At this level, you stop dead and switch to THF/NIN, which you bring to 25, thus aquiring TH1 along the way as well as Flee. At 25, set your HP at the Outpost near Giddeus (Just Incase) and then run around Giddeus and shoot everything in the face that moves with a bow and arrow, while dual wielding daggers. Now, you are only going to be carrying those 2 daggers, a bow, 1 stack of arrows, and food if desired. That leaves 25 empty slots (If you don't have a gobbie bag). After filling up, Flee back to town and trade them all in. From here, either Flee back to Giddeus or get Warped back, through scroll, death, or help from a BLM. I'm doing this whole quest now, and these are my plans. I am willing to spend 5-10 hours on it, being I'm on break.

My only question is: Does being Rank 5 help my Norg Fame what-so-ever?

only selbina quests very strongly rumor'd to lower tenshudo (norg) fame, and vice versa.

if you've ever been to norg and talk to the npc's, they explain that they control the ships that attack the selbina/mhura ferry.

I can't stand to sit in a area and search for Necklaces for 10 hours! there should be harder but faster way to get the fame...like a direct (But hard) Quest to do it...Like travel half way around the world (Sandy to Windy for example) Only on foot and ship (No choco or item gets messed up) on a delivery and then you have to go back the same way (No choco or Airship same as before) so this way it would take a while (Repeat 4 times for a like a 500G reward [crapy]but a lot of fame) But instead we have to run into the dang place and try to get necklaces... O well ill just gather my LS members and use them has holding space while i farm for the Beads ^^ then i can go to the person and hand in like 140 or better at a time ^^ expecially since most of my LS members are Thiefs (TH1 TH2) and im a thief too ^^)

In trying to get enough Norg fame to unlock the avatar (can't remember which avatar lmao) i found handing over 80 necklaces was enough for fame 2. while i can't guarantee that this info is 100% accurate i am quite confident that i had done no other quests involving Norg fame :-) hope this info helps

I didn't talk to her or her henchmen I just walked up and gave here 4 necklaces and accepted the 200 gil. she has never mentioned necklaces in the times i have talked to her and i have gotten a quest with some ore during my talks to her. she has always accepted the necklaces from me and reguardless of how many you give her you will only get 200 gil. If you are on fenrir and hunting the necklaces gimme tell if i am local. My bags fill fast and I would rather work together than compete.

I turned in 120 necklaces and my windy fame has not increased from 4. Therefore, I don't believe it increases windy fame. LuciusBrimstone, are you sure you did not complete any other windy quests or quests for windy related areas (such as Mhuara) during this time?

Im fairly positive this quest raises Windurst fame as well. My windurst fame went up 2 levels (4 to 6) after I did this quest a bunch of times for Norg fame, and I havent done anything else within Windurst during that time. Im going to keep doing it, and see if my fame really does go up; if so, this is how Im getting the Ramuh quest ^^.

And my theory on this would be that it should raise Windurst fame, seeing as the quest really doesnt do much for Norg fame, plus the quest is located within the Windurst region. Just my thoughts, though.

This quest works wonders for any higher than average characters ingame. I spent 3 days collecting Yagudo necklaces and beehive chips in Giddeus. Over time I got a few stacks of Silver Beastcoins and Honey, as well as Insect wings.

This quest is probably one of the best ways to make fast money. My income went from 30k-100k in 2 days and is still rising from my exploits.

I highly suggest going in with TH1, however.

Measure Fame
# Jun 10 2004 at 10:04 AM Rating: Decent
You can measure how many times u need to do the quest in order to Get Tonko in Lower Jeuno, in the Neptunes Inn by the AH behind the counter theirs a NPC that sells rice ball if the rice balls are 153Gil that means you can do Tonko and right after you do Tonko Uts will Unlock itself. I also discorvered that for every 7 times you do the quest the price goes down by 4, so u would need 7x4 Yagudo Necklaces to make it go down by 4. So really you dont need 200 Necklaces just enough to do Tonko.
