Mission Orders

To capture the mysterious boy, you must first locate the fourth mothercrystal. To do this, you have been ordered to travel to the nations of Bastok, Windurst, and San d'Oria to learn of the Multinational Expedition that was held nearly thirty years ago.

Walkthrough

After cutscene, the mission divides into 2 parts - SanDoria route and Windurst route. Route details are given below. You are free to go through either route. You can also go through both routes at the same time since there's no need to complete one route to start the next. After completing both routes, head back to Metalworks and talk to Cid.

M 3-3A: SanDoria Route (Emerald Waters)

3-3 A1: Enter North Sandoria to start this leg of the mission.

3-3 A2(Vicissitudes): Talk to Arnau the priest in the Cathedral. Next talk to Chasalvige in the Manuscript Room on the left.

3-3 A3(Descendents of Line Lost): Next go to Carpenter's Landing via the (E-6) Entrance Point in Jugner Forest. Look for a NPC called Guilloud beside a boulder at (H-10). Talking to him will spawn a Malboro mob named Overgrown Ivy. LV75 character with nin or whm sub should be sufficient to defeat it however watch out for it's Hundred Fist ability.

3-3 A4 (Louverance): After defeating Overgrown Ivy, talk to Guilloud again, then return to South San Doria and look for Hinaree at the Manor (B-6). This ends the Sandorian leg.

M 3-3B: Windurst Route (Memories of a Maiden)

3-3 B1: Enter Windurst waters to start this leg of the mission.

3-3 B2 (Comedy of Errors): Head to Rhinostery right-hand room (J-9) and talk to Ohbiru-Dohbiru. Next go to Winwalls and talk to Yoran-Moran at his house. Then go back to Windurst waters to Timbre Timbers Tavern (F-10) and talk to Kyume-Romeh.

3-3 B3 (Comedy of Errors): Go to the southern portion of Windurst waters to the house of Honoi-Gomoi (E-7). Talk to Honoi-Gomoi to receive a key item Mimeo Mirror. Go back to Winwalls again to talk to Yoran-Oran for the method to repair the mirror.

To repair the mirror, you need to go to Attohwa Chasm to find a point marked "Loose Sand" (K-8). Checking the point will spawn a Antlion mob called Lioumere. Try to fight it away from the Loose Sand spawn, if it returns to the base, its HP will be recovered. Defeat it and check the Loose Sand again to get another key item Mimeo Egg. Next, you'll need to climb the intricate mountain of Parrademo Tor to reach the summit within a time limit of 1 hour before the egg disappears and check a point marked "Cradle of Rebirth" to get 3 Mimeo Feathers as key item. If you can't get to the top in time, you'll have to check the Loose Sand again (without any antlion fights) and try again. The starting point for the climb up is located somewhere to the southeast corner of the Tor near the Loose Sand. The path is very narrow with no natural barriers so one wrong step and u fall down. However along the way there are some smog barriers that are either permanent or temporary. If you encounter a permanent smog barrier, it usually indicates that you need to continue by falling one step down to the path below. Try to work your way up the summit in a anti-clockwise direction. Return to Windurst and talk to Yoran-Oran.

3-3 B4 (Exit Stage Left): Go to Windurst Walls and talk to Yoran-Oran, then go tp Port Windurst and talk to Yujuju (M-6), then Windurst Waters northern (G-8) and talk to Tosuka-Porika, then go talk to Yoran-Oran again to finish the mission.

It is not necessary to talk to CID to finish this mission because that is part of the next mission, PM 3-4 Tending Aged Wounds.

Sleep Bolts on Antlion?

I could not have done this without this pic by pic walkthrough of the mountain path. This is awesome.

http://www.koolaid-ffxi.org/linkshell/space/Parradamo+Tor

And, as for the NM, he was rather easy for a 75 Rdm/Whm. Pull it away from the Loose Sand as far as you can, then slap it with Bind... Keep using Bind every chance you get, keep it glued to its place and it'll never return. Stoneskin, Phalanx, Pro IV, Ice Spikes, En-whatever, Refresh. No food, just smack it around with your sword or nuke it (although nukes tend to drop Bind I've noticed sometimes).

i solo'd both NM's easily as BLM75. i slept nuked the ivy. it caught me offguard when i talked to the guy. wasnt expecting the guy to summon it. i had no buffs on and wasnt even full health/mp but i still killed it fairly easy.

with the antlion. it took me longer to find the loose sand than it did to kill it. i spawned it then it chased me to the cracks then ran back. then i pulled with thunder IV which took a nice big chunk of life from it and it chased me then i bound it nuked Bliz IV waited for bind to break and kept my finger on stun. after bind broke i stunned it and bind was ready to be recast and bound it again. he wasnt goin anywhere. another thunder IV a drain and a Thunder II and it was dead... was also meleeing it just cuz. doesnt hit hard. didnt use 2hour on either NMs.

the loose sand is accessible through the outside of the kinda ridgy place... for a better idea of where it is its labeled on map here http://www.ffxi-maps.com/attohwacsm.htm it took me awhile it took awhile finding it.

Sleep bolts stick well on Overgrown Ivy, which makes it easily soloable by someone with high level marksmanship.

Sleep bolts initially stick well on Lioumere but it builds resistance fairly rapidly. I had a hard time soloing as a 75 RNG simply because I couldn't keep it from regenning (though I was never in any danger.) Had I timed my sleep bolts and shadowbind perfectly around my damage I possibly could have killed it, but its much easier if you duo with a mage who can bind/sleep/stun it.
Soloed as a 64 rdm

I decided to try and solo the Overgrown Ivy as a 64 rdm/ 32 blm.

Started off fighting the monsters around to build 300% tp. Then, casted protect IV, shell III, stoneskin, blink, phalanx, aquaveil, enfire, ice spikes, regen, refresh, and used a meat mithkabob. When it popped, I slept it, casted blind, paralyze, slow, gravity, then bio II. Used spirits within, then through the course of the battle recasted any buffs that fell (stoneskin fell alot), and any debuffs that fell. At the half-way point, I let bio II drop so I could sleep it and convert. Really tough battle, but it was fun ^_^. Finished it with another 300% tp spirits within.

The antlion was a piece of cake, in comparison. Just bind/sleep it when it returns to the lose sand and keep all your buffs up.

You DO need to talk to Cid to finish PM3-3 Road Forks. Talking to him finishes Road Forks and logs the next mission, Tending Aged Wounds. I spoke to him 2x to make sure, and talking to him doesn't end Tending Aged Wounds. After speaking to him I warped back to Jeuno and received a cutscene with Wolfgang and Nag'lamoda. Afer this CS was done, I checked mission log. Tending Aged Wounds is still logged.

Ok i did the windy mission first. Completed the whole thing and got all the cutscenes that i know of. I even got the mini cutscene from Cid in Bastok. My problem is that when i go to Sandy and step into North Sandoria, i do not get the CS. What am i doing wrong? I talked to yukon (whatever his name), the guy that fixes the mirror, talked to him twice like i was supposed to, then flew off to talk to Cid. Is there something in between that i am missing?

We just found out - the hard way - that if, after getting the Mimeo Stone, you get accidentally logged out, by a connection error or something else, you lose the key item and have to start completely over from the loose sand. You don't fight Lioumere again, but you do have to get a new key item.

This is really stupid, if you were wondering.

pritty sure the sandy rout is faster, it looks allot faster anyhow. the mountin clime takes awhile from when i last did it, dont really wana go back. so as of speed which is easier, even if the NM is harder wont be a problem :).

1. Lioumere is quite susceptable to bind. I soloed this guy as RDM/BLM 75 using bind with no real trouble. Unlike most the time, bind seems to stick on him for quite a while despite me meleeing him to death.

2. talking to Tosuka-Porika is NOT the end of the mission. If you can't get the next part of the mission to start it is probably because of this. In fact, after talking to Tosuka, you must go back and talk to Yoran-Oran again. He will give me one last cutscene for the windy leg. After you've talked to him you must then go talk to Cid in bastok. Cid will give you a minute or so cutscene at this point (if he doesn't, you have not completed either windy or san d legs and must go back to these to find the cutscene you missed (in both cases the last cutscene should talk about the expeditionary force to the north).

spent about 30 mins getting to the loose sand which wasnt bad but then spent around 1 hour fighting non stop to kill the NM in attowah chasm >< he just kept healing himself everytime more than 1 person hit it, and always resisted bind. i d/ced as the NM was on around 60% HP and when i came bak the PT had killed it! ; ; i tried joining the pt and checking again but it spawned the NM agian :P ran for my life /panic didnt get anything ; ;
Minor change to end of the writeup.

3-3 B4 (Exit Stage Left): Go to Windurst Walls and talk to Yoran-Oran, then go tp Port Windurst and talk to Yujuju (M-6), then Windwaters northern (G-8) and talk to Tosuka-Porika to complete the mission, then go talk to Cid in Bastok Metalworks.

On that last part there, you need to go talk to Yoran-Oran again AFTER you talk to Tosuka-Porika and BEFORE you head off to Bastok to talk to Cid.

It should go:

3-3 B4 (Exit Stage Left): Go to Windurst Walls and talk to Yoran-Oran, then go tp Port Windurst and talk to Yujuju (M-6), then Windwaters northern (G-8) and talk to Tosuka-Porika. Then head back to Yoran-Oran to complete the mission. Head to Bastok Metalworks & talk to Cid to continue the journey.

Getting up the mountain...
# Sep 25 2005 at 10:05 PM Rating: Excellent
I wrote this up before I noticed that someone already posted an up-to-date guide on the 19th, but here goes anyways:

Crude (but accurate) step by step directions for getting up the mountain:
A few things you should know about the mountain:
1. The path up the mountain is extremely narrow. Take extra precautions not to fall unless the directions say to.
2. There are a number of barriers of steam/smoke/something you'll encounter on the way. Some of these are temporary, some are permanent. You'll need to sometimes wait (indicated in the directions) for a barrier to go down before you can get past it.

Legend:
Left/CW: Going clockwise around the mountain, as viewed from the top of the mountain looking down. (Mountain will be on your character's right side.)
Right/CCW: Going counter-clockwise around the mountain, as viewed from the top of the mountain looking down. (Mountain will be on your character's left side.)

1. Two entrances at K-9, take the one more south (going CW up the mountain) and go up to the ramp to the first fork.
2. Right/CCW
3. at fork: Left/CW
4. Next fork: Right/CCW
5. Next fork (by barrier): stay Right/CCW
6. Go through Barrier
7. Cross Bone Bridge
8. Next barrier = permanent barrier, drop down.
9. Continue Right/CCW
10. Drop down, continue Right/CCW
11. Continue Right/CCW, favoring "up"
12. at next fork, continue right/CCW to the barrier onscreen
13. Drop at barrier and continue right/CCW
14. Go up and on to the spine bridge at the next fork
15. Continue up the mountain going right/CCW after the bridge
16. You will come to a dead end. If you look down, there's a boulder blocking the path below yours. Drop so you land on the WEST side of the boulder (basically, keep running straight.)
17. You will come to another barrier -- this one is temporary. Run through it.
18. Again, you will come to a dead end with a boulder. Again, drop so you land on the WEST side (keep moving forward)
19. Continue moving right/CCW. You will start moving DOWN the mountain, do not be alarmed.
20. You'll come to another drop. Drop down and continue moving.
21. You'll encounter a permanent barrier. When you do, drop down and continue right/CCW. Be careful not to fall ALL the way off the mountain, but you will be very close to the bottom.
22. You'll encounter another spine/bone bridge thingie. Go to the very end of it, turn around (now going left/CW) and go up the path.
23. When the path splits again, turn back around to go right/CCW and continue upwards.
24. At the next split, turn around again to go left/CW and continue upwards.
25. Go through the (temporary) barrier you encounter and you will go across two bone-bridges.
26. Continue going up and left/CW and you'll encounter a third bone-bridge. Follow this to its end and keep moving straight to fall off of it.
27. Continue up this path and through the last temporary barrier. You'll eventually be able to run up the mountainside. Congratulations, you've reached the Cradle of Rebirth.

As 74RDM/37BLM I popped a Marron Glace, stoneskin, phalanx, p&s 4, refresh, let my MP get around 800 then spawned it. I immediately hit chainspell, bound it, got in about 5 Fire III then bound it again, and 4 more Fire III finished it off in about 10 seconds. Gotta love RDM.
Getting to the top
# Sep 19 2005 at 9:27 PM Rating: Excellent
This was posted in the ENM thread that also requires you to climb to the top of this mountain. I didn't see any useful info here about making it to the top and this helped so here ya go:

For those wondering how to get to the top of the mountain, or what the Flaxen Pouch is for...

Many thanks to Haud, who wrote this excellent guide.

Ok, so I was rather annoyed at the lack of any good information on climbing Parradamo Tor
(which I've renamed 'Satan's Mountain') except for some vague info like "enter southeast, go
counterclockwise until you go clockwise". So after 2 hours of frustration, here's Haud's
"Hitchhiker's Guide to the Chasm"

First off, head to (K-9). You will be on the easternmost side of the mountain, almost at the lower corner. You'll come to a point wher there
will be a ramp on either side of you, if you
are facing the mountain. Take the left one, heading South. Proceed up a few steps and you'll
reach a fork. Head to the right (North). You should be heading upwards now. Next, you'll hit
another fork, on one side (left) is a crak in the wall, the other is a path. Head to the
left (South, towards the crack). Proceed a bit further and you'll come to another split.
Head north, taking the path heading upwards. At the next intersection, keep straight
continuing North. You'll reach a spout, but it'll go down in a few seconds. Continue ahead,
walking over the giant bone, still moving Northwards.

Now, you'll come to a dark black spout. This will not die down. At this point, fall off to
the side (East). You'll then land on a platform directly below. Head North a bit, and you'll
see this walkway ends quickly. Fall down, heading North still, however, and not fall to the right (east) like you did before.

If you did this all right, you should be heading upwards and North. YOu'll soon hit another
intersection, but ignore it; head North still. You'll quickly hit another spout, and this
one will not die either. So, you guessed it, fall down to the right (east) again. Don't fall
too far. You want to fall on the platform DIRECTLY below, and not all the way down. If you
did it right, you'll be facing north where th ewalkway continues, and right behind you, the
platform will end. Continue North.

After you turn a corner, you'll see this massive bone heading upwards. To your left, you
should see that the platform begins to rise. Take it upwards and move towards the bone. IF
you don't go upwards, the platform will soon end, and you'll have nowhere to go, but down.
Bad. Climb the bone, continuing upwards. At the top of the spiny bone thing, continue West
now, moving upwards. You'll hit another intersection, but keep West. The platform will end, and you'll see the top. Too bad you can't get there yet ;-). Fall down to the platform,
heading West. Make sure to fall at the END of the platform. If you did it right, a rock
should be BEHIND you, not in front. If not, start over ^^. Head West. You'll encounter
another spout, but it will disappear soon.

Once again, you'll see the top, but you still can't get there. Fall down again, to the
North. Same as before, fall at the platform's END. If you did it right, a rock will be
behind you. Head West. This path will wind a bit, and you'll cross over another spine/bone
structure as well. Soon, you will hit another perma-spout. Fall to the North again onto the
platform below. Do not fall on the ground. You'll be on a platform that will be VERY close
to the ground. Don't worry, you're doing fine ^^.

Follow this platform around, heading in the general South direction being careful not to
accidentally fall off. When you hit another spine, which is rather short, you'll see a path
heading upwards. Take it. You should be heading Northwards and up now. At the top, head to
the right (South) towards the crack in the wall.

You'll quickly hit another path heading upwards. Take it. At the top, ignore the path heading South and continue NOrth. You'll hit a spout, but it will disappear soon. Follow the
path over 2 sets of bones. After the bones and heading upwards a bit, the path will split.

To the north, you will see another set of bones, so head North. At the end of these bones, you'll hit a dead end. Continue upa bit, and you'll fall onto a path below you. If done right, you will have a rock behind you, and you will be facing Westwards. You'll soon hit another spout, but this one will disappear, and when it does,
continue NOrth. Now, just follow this path up a bit more and TA-DA! You're at the top.

I finished CoP 2.5 with a random shout party from Jeuno and we had so much fun, we formed a static. For this section our jobs were ridiculously high for the NMs. It was the navigation that caused us fits.

Anyway I can't help with finding the Loose Sands. It is east of the mountain you have to climb though.

What I didn't realize about this mission is the ledges you climb up are blended into the mountain. So right to the west of the Loose Sands you'll see a diagonal ledge going from the ground up to a horizontal ledge that wraps around the mountain. My party ran around the mountain like three times before the RDM found this. It's wide enough for one person to walk along. Remember in Valkurm Dunes when the Taru BLM would 'climb' up a cliff where two sides met at an angle and nuke mobs from above you? It's like that but a little more obvious. There isn't much to work with and it's basically a climb straight up using these ledges to slowly ascend around and up the mountain like train tracks. You will fall a few times and have to start over. You don't have to kill the NM again though so mark his spot on your map (if you have a map, I didn't).

My advice is to go counter-clockwise unil you find a smoke thing. Wait a couple minutes for it to go away. If it doesn't, then go as close as you can to the smoke and drop down. Sometimes you'll need to drop down on the ledge below you, but if you drop too early you'll fall two ledges down or fall behind a boulder that blocks your way (boulder's obviously don't move). You'll go around and up a couple times past some smoke things, then drop almost all the way down to the bottom (just one ledge above). This is where our people got stuck. Going around a corner they would sometimes fall one more ledge to the ground and from that oarticular spot there is no way to get back up. Then you'll climb up and around again. We got almost to the top and then had to go clockwise on the final ledge, past a smoke thing that disappeared, and we made it.

Also, you cannot die and be tractored! The egg will break as soon as you die. Our BLM wanted to bring a Scorpion to the top just because, but we ended up trying to use it to (very slowly...) kill the RDM that fell. After she died her egg broke. Back to the loose sands...

Okay, got a question. Where exactly does the "Loose Sand" spawn in K-8? I've been running around this area for the past 30 minutes and nothing.
