Mission Orders

Prishe has been taken to Doctor Monberaux's clinic! What ails her fragile body and what, if anything, can save her!?

Walkthrough

Go to Upper Jeuno's Infirmary and talk to Monberaux. Proceed to Lower Jeuno Neptune Spire and go into Tenshodo and talk to Ghebi Damomohe (I-7). She'll ask you to bring one of the 3 chips that can be obtained from Pso'Xja.

(Rare/Ex) Carmine Chip - Snow Lizard or Frost Lizard [Etoh: I got my chip from this, at a no-level-cap Pso'Xja from Beaucidine Tower (F-7) where Nue spawns. They drop pretty easily...gotten all 6 for my PT in 2 hours. Decent Challenge to LV75]

(Rare/Ex)Gray Chip - Diremite Stalkers (at Tower near Ranguemont), Diremite Assaulters, Diremite

(Rare/Ex) Cyan Chip - Treasure Chest Mimics

Bring either one of the above chips back to Ghebi Damomohe and trade to her to get a key item and 500g reward. Go to Beaucedine and enter Pso'Xja via (H-8) tower (near outpost guards) which has a Level 40 cap.

-From entrance, go straight until you reach a circular plaza. Head to the branch northward and you'll see a Red Warp (H-7)

-After the Red warp, turn right and walk straight ahead to Black Warp (I-7)

-Walk westward to the 2nd room, turn left and walk thru a Red Warp (H-7)

-After Red Warp, turn right and walk straight ahead to Black Warp (I-7)

-Go west to the 2nd room and turn left to reach the Elevator area.

-Head north, turn left and down a flight of stairs to a Stone Gate where you click to use your Key Item gotten earlier on in Jeuno to enter the Shrouded Maw BC holding area.

While it sounds repetitive, this is the correct way of navigating Pso'Xja. So its a hint that it could be quite mazy. Mobs like Gazers and Snowballs will aggro at your level so take caution.

Once you've reached the Shrouded Maw, do the necessary preps and click on the 'Memento Circle' to enter boss fight. In here you'll fight the familiar Diabolos in FF series. Diabolos is fairly easy to battle with if your tankers have ninjaa ninja sub. You should have no problem getting it down to half HP. He has a AOE Sleep attack called Nightmare that even drinking Posion is hard to counter so your melee will need to stun him when he readies this. Have your White Mage cast Barsleepra before the fight because he also casts Sleepga.

Once his HP reaches a certain level, Diabolos will start to remove the flooring tiles away in the battle arena! Now you have to be very careful of this, because if you are standing on the tile that he casts away, you'll drop down to the basement below where a SWARM of Diremites are waiting to gobble you up (instant death)! So if you are standing on the wrong tile, it's ADIOS! There are 2 Ways to tell which tiles are going to Drop. The 1st Way is to know every possible combination of tiles that drop. The layout of the Arena goes like this:

O O B O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O

where 'B' indicates the initial position of Diabolos.

There are 3 patterns that Diabolos will remove the flooring:

O O O X X O X O O O O X O X O O O O X O X X O O O

O X O X O O O O O O O O X O O X O X O X X O O O X

X O O O X O O X O O X O O O X O O X O O X O O O X

So eliminating all possible pitfalls, we are left with the safest spots (marked with O) indicated below:

X X O X X O X X O O X X X X X X O X X X X X O O X

The Second is that your shadow will not be cast on tiles that drop. So if your standing on a tile and have the time check to see if your shadow is on it as well. This is because SE does not feel its nessssary to render shadows on moving objects, or objects with animations.

Diabolos also has a WS that causes a knock-back effect, which unfortunately if you are standing on a isolated tile, will cause you to drop down to oblivion. If you can find a wall at the arena sides to face your back on, you can prevent the knockback from pushing you down. Recommended fighting positions for melee (*) and mages (#) are:

X X # X X O x x O O X X X X X X O X X X X X * * X

Defeating Diabolos will earn you a title. Return to Upper Jeuno to talk to Monberaux doctor at Upper Jeuno Infirmary to finish this chapter and earning another title.

Can 85 blue solo this?

Can a 85 blue mage solo this? I have thief, red mage, dark knight, paladin, white mage, ninja and dancer I can use for sub job. Which would be best for sub?
WAR Solo

Solo'd as 75 WAR/SAM. Treated fight exactly like Maat; sleep tp'd until 300; used a meat chiefkabob then dropped to safe tile below; activated aggressor, berserk, hasso, and then mighty strikes. Immediately after MS I use Raging Rush > Icarus Wing > Raging Rush > Meditate > Raging Rush. Diabolos had about %25 HP or less in which a few hits from MS (Double Attack!) took care of. After using one x-potion, I had ~800 HP when all was said and done. I did get sleepga'd and Nightmare'd, but since I have no evasion, was immediately awoken from his next attack.

Straight forward fight, items used were: 12 sleeping potions, 1 icarus wing, 1 meat chiefkabob, and 1 x-potion. Don't forget the opo-opo necklace.

Tile setup was: X = dropped, O = safe
O X D X O
O O O O O
O O X O O
X O X O X
X O O O X

Good luck to everyone.
probably other good setups

our group probably wont do that blu drk stuff. We'll just have to bring food and maybe some items not too mention 2hrs because its not like well need them after the fight since we'll probably all log anyway
Question
# Jun 06 2008 at 7:56 AM Rating: Decent
My question is that once you have defeated Diabolos do you have to defeat the prime fight to get him as an avatar?

Yes, you have to defeat Diabolos Prime to be able to call him as an avatar. You get the key item(Vial of Dream Incense) from Kerutoto in Rhinostry in south part of windy waters. This fight is a good bit harder that Diabolos CoP 3-5 fight.
wow cant believed that worked

I was standing round in WG doing some cooking when my friend asked me and another friend to help out in this fight. When i did it we used 2 blus and it went great. So I ask my mate the setup

sam/war
pld/war
whm/blm
whm/blm

Now I have pld and bst over 40 and my friend has blm,rdm and smn. They asked me to come as pld for shield bash and my mate to come as blm. Now being a little bored I told my friend I didnt think we could do it but it sounded fun. When getting my lvl 40 gear i decided if I wasnt tanking I would go as bst/pld.

Believe it or not we owned it with no 2 hours except for the sam, just thought I would let you all know you dont need blus and drks for this fight. Shieldbash and stun ws can totaly do the job
Dark Day

Did this once properly and wiped. With 20mins left on WHM's 2 hour timer we decided to do a dry run for giggles..

NIN/WAR
NIN/WAR
BLU/DRK
WHM/SMN
DRK/NIN (lv 37)
DRK/NIN (lv 37)

We went in on dark day. No reraise, food, 2 hours - nothing except weapon skills and ninjutsu spells and we defeated him with no deaths. Just went for the method of everyone stun whenever nightmare came up rather than try to take it in turns.

Maybe we got lucky but it shows this can be done on dark day.. he's not invincible! ^^
definitely manageable
# Jan 13 2008 at 12:25 AM Rating: Decent
we went in with a full party of six with all our food, juices and tools, and we managed to kill diabolos using the guide that we have read.

Me-Whm/Smn for extra mp
Astydamia-Blu/Nin for headbutt and shadows
Lucienna-Blu/Nin for headbutt and shadows
Phizen-Drk/Blu for stun, headbutt, and weapon bash
Beshukyosshu-nin/war as tank
Ukryoshin-nin/war as tank

i as the mage actually stood at the bottom where we dropped, and everyone else went to go stand where diabolos spawned. we made sure to buff, eat our food, rest to full after we entered. once the fight went along, things went fine except for a few nightmares that got off after halfway through the battle due to low mp, or mid-usage of items... (hard to disrupt that). let me say though, you can never have enough stunners. it really saved our butts. i died once because nightmare went off, and everyone was bioed, so i divine seal erase, and curaga ii's to wake up and heal everyone, but of course i had reraise on so that was no problem. he nightmared again, so i rr'ed and so did besh our tank, ukry was down. did a curaga one and within seconds, he was dead. so yes this could be easy as pie but we also had a wonderful set up with three stunners, two tanks and a whm.... the blu's could have acted as back up healers with wild carrot too. with the right party set up and members who knows their job well, it's not hard to get anything done.

btw- as whm i had no problems enfeebling him. paralyze slow and dia all went off smoothly. but then again my magic skills are capped.

Finally got this one completed with my BST LS. We went 4x BST/NIN and one BST/BLU. Trying to get a time when everyone is free has been a nightmare lol.

Took 2 attempts. 1st time he got nightmare off virtually straight away so we were toast. We decided to try again and we owned. Only had to use one pet each and I only used like 1-2 pots.

Will probably be another few months beofre we get together again to continue but it felt so good to finally get this done. We can now get Diablos pact.
all that we see or seem...

Just did this yesterday. I was really happy because I had only gotten and turned in my Gray Chip earlier in the day. The party setup was NIN/WAR, BRD/WHM, BLU/???, SMN/WHM, WHM/BLM, DRK/???. SMN = <me>. We had no trouble at all, only one person hit the red, and that was with one Nightmare actually getting off. NIN tanked, DRK & BLU did their stun thing. BRD managed to paralyze Diabolos really well. "Diabolos is paralyzed" came up a lot during the battle, which probably helped quite a bit. WHM and I healed until near the end, when we both needed to use our 2-hours. Mages did get hate once during battle, but we kept our heads and just kept going. He moved the tiles once during the battle too, but we were using the guide above and were all on the correct tiles. I used only one Yag Drink, and food didn't seem to be a big concern during the battle. Battle was 11 mins and change, and broke whatever record had been set previously.

Long post probably but want to make sure I cover all details for future readers.

First, the guide at the top of the page was very useful and accurate. Directions to all the warps were easy to read and find and the positions given on where Melees and Mages should stand worked perfectly.

Party Setup:
(I think I will have the names right :) )
Nin/War - Kajima
War/Nin - Reginald
Drk/? - Silentghost
Blu/Nin - Khyri
Whm/Smn - Degamorth (me)
Whm/Blm - Orimi

We were pretty much going off the strategy provided here and some additional planing. Getting through the warps were very easy, one aggro from a Snow bomb or something but easy to handle. Enter BCNM and watch cutscene and all agreed this would be our dry run to get the hang of it and calm down. At the ledge before you drop down to the arena we did our buffs, poison pots, food/drinks, shadows etc. Once one member drops, you are all pulled in.

Mages stood on tile where Diabolos was originally and melees took the tiles straight across from us (refer to allakhazam guide) We debated on having Orimi come as Rdm but after seeing not very many Rdm's in party setups through all the post, we decided that 2 Whm would be better. Haste x2 Regen x2 and all the MP was a very good idea and would suggest it. Orimi took care of Silentghost and Kajima and I took care of Reginald and Khyri.

Again, this was our dry run. I used my cheap food, roasted mushroom, to save my mushroom stew(4k/pc x2) for the -4 enmity for the second run. Neither me or Orimi ever pulled hate. I brought 4 yag drinks and 2 Hi-ethers. We get pulled in Orimi and I do our Haste and Regen on our designated members and Cure II when needed. Orimi casted Paralyze and I casted Slow/Dia II and all stuck. Diabolos is Dark based so anything Light base attack/spell is a nice plus. If they wore later on I did not notice. We both used a Poison pot as well just incase. I would suggest to not use Erase and let the Bio effect and, if used, Poison pot stay on the players. Having both on will almost assure that Sleepga, Sleepga II and AoE Sleep(aka Nightmare) wont stick long. Bio and Poison was not a big MP issue either as Regen will help counter half of its effect. I notice at one point its AoE Sleep did hit me and I was asleep for a second before his Bio that was on me woke me up. I assisted Orimi in curing Silentghost cause he kept getting unwanted hate and damage. He was the only, until end, that dipped into the dark orange HP.

With everything going so well on our dry run and Diabolos at 50-60% HP and going down fast and me and Orimi with alot of MP still, we decided to go all out and win it. I was able to get off a Banish and Banish II since having alot of mp and bored to help speed things up. The only Nightmare that got off was at the very end with a sliver of Diabolos HP left. At that point a couple hits would finish him so we didnt really care to try and stun it. From what I read on Nightmare attack and how it can put melees in yellow it must have got stuned very well cause the melees HP never dropped to yellow simultaneously until end. Any form you can stun i.e. Stun, WS, headbutt etc... I would suggest it.

Again easy fight and the only items I used was a Roasted Mushroom and maybe 2 Yag drinks and a Poison Potion. Stay calm and hit your Stuns and keep Haste and Regen up, Paralyze/Slow/Dia II, get on right tiles with melees back toward wall for Knockback and I will guarantee you a victory. If there is anything I missed if my LS static mates read this can fill in the holes. I am speaking from the back line of a mages point of view and not very sure how things look/went in the front line. :)

Good hunting all and far easier then expected. All the post that say 5 players can do it I can now believe.

one addition.

SilentGhost went DRK/SMN. which I do suggest for the extra MP and the fact that STUN > Melee DMG. It was as easy as he described we were on our dry run and we whoopped that ***.

Setup was:

WHM/BLM
SMN/WHM (me)
NIN/WAR
NIN/WAR
MNK/WAR
RDM/WHM

Had no stunners except monks Shoulder Tackle, 1/1 on this even on darksday, which didn't make too much of a difference because he was veerrrry weak.
We had the tanks on the square where he started and they just kept him occupied the whole time. WHM had to benediction but tank still kept hate. I used my 2hour around 50% and so did the monk, took diabolos down in about 6 minutes.

Went in with NIN BLM WHM DRK MNK, DRK stuns Nightmare, well the first Nightmare got off but we recovered quick and MNK hundred fisted about 50% and died about 35% cause NIN was slept. BLM manafonted but never pulled hate, NIN spammed the elemental wheel and DRK hit every stun after the first one. WHM hasted DRK and NIN. Easy as that.

Just did this about 30 minutes ago. Setup was basic.

Pld/War
War/Nin
Blu/Nin
Cor/Whm
Whm/Blm (Me)

Plan was normal. We went in and buffed up. I rested MP, then Pld dropped down and we started the fight. Both the Pld and Blu were saving TP for Flat Blade, and also the Blu was using Head Butt when he had 100% TP or more. Although we only had five (due to a Drk dropping from the PT. We didn't have much time to find a new one either, so we decided to go with 5), we were taking him down quickly. Every Nightmare got stunned instantly, but one went through un-stunned. Problem is that I'm Elvaan, and do not have a good amount of MP. Luckily I had Refresh from the Cor and from Drinks. I woke fast and i went in to Curaga II the Melee. Everyone was back to full and Diabolos was at about 20%. At that point I had about 100 MP left, and Diabolos decided to start hitting harder. I kept everyone Cured and kept the Pld Hasted. At about 10% HP i decided to use Benediction for no reason. I got needless hate and went into yellow HP, but the Pld voked and I was fine again. Finished the fight, and had absolutely no worries during it. Did it on the first run too. ^^

Got finished in 11 minutes, which isn't bad considering that we only had 5. Only 2 members needed the fight though. The War, Pld, and I had all done it before. Crongrats to Godswrath and Spikido for the win though. ^^

P.S. As you can see from the above, this is an easy fight if you have stunners. Our only real DD was the War which had to use Mighty Strikes. For most of the fight, the Cor hung out on the mage tile and kept me Refreshed (Thank goodness. We may have had trouble otherwise...)

beat this last night. Setup was
pld/war (me)
whm/blm
mnk/nin
mnk/nin
war/nin
drk/??? (lvl 37)

The only stunner we had was the drk, and our stun weapon skills (Smash Axe, Flat Blade) and my Shield Bash.

Items I brought were tav tacos, sneaks and oils to get to fight, hipot tank, 3 yag drinks and 2 persikos au laits.

I did this run with most of this group before, we got down there pretty easily, most of us knew the way from a previous run. 1st fight, when we get drawn in, I get disorentated and pull him to the wrong place, finally get to my square and he uses nightmare (right off the bat almost) noone stunned, we wipe, no RR. I had to hp and come back to raise everyone.

2nd fight, (I forgot to use my hipot tank on 1st and 2nd fight) We get in, we get situated, I'm busy holding hate and getting pounded. I use a yag drink and try to cure myself. Die before I can and the whm was casting regen on me. Whm was also on the wrong tile so he falls down and dies. We have 2 mnks war and drk all going at diabolos and their doing really good. 35% Nightmare, stunned. 30% Hundred fists, Mighty strikes soon after, 15% stunned nightmare and the other hundred fists, Diabolos uses nightmare again and we missed it. 3% of diabolos' health left and we all die from nightmare. Kinda sucky.

3rd fight (last before I need to go to bed) I remembered to use my hipot tank (yay). I get in and this time no regen (au laits take care of that) and we're all on the right tiles. The mnks are pounding Diabolos with combo and Raging Fists. The drk war and I are holding TP to stun nightmare as best as possible. I used yag drink and au lait, used all my hipots and drinks again when the 1st one ran out. About 45% I pop invincible, but bio is eating away at me. Manage to get near full health. I told the whm if I drop below 200 health to use Benediction. I had enough mp for a cure 2 and start casting when I dropped below 200 so whm used 2hr but I was able to keep hate (from invincible used earlier). Near the end stun was down and he uses nightmare, War stunned it w/ smash axe (go war!) and we unleash all we have and win!

Even though all the good damaging 2hrs were used, we were able to win this fight with a cool head and good stuns. I was very surprised that we were able to pull it off with only invincible and benediction. Grats to my awesome party ^^

I was just goofing off and killed the two diremites near the first zone entrance and boom, two chips and one ENM item, so we were done in like 5 minutes, tops.

Today finished off this mission. Party had THF/Nin, Drk/War (me), Blm, Whm, War, and Sam. Melee all stood on the front middle tile while mages stood in the middle tile on the other side. I was the DRK and missed first stun on Nightmare already. Our HP went yellow and some were even red. Luckily party members all were clam and were not panic. I would say the first couple minutes are important. As long as you can stay alive in the first 2-3 minutes. Then you should be fine.

Nightmare effects finally went off with 3/4 HP left. We then take turns using WS to stun Diablo. We tried not to use big dmg WS to prolong its use on Nightmare. We hit it bit by bit while getting cure once a while from mages standing on the other side. After that we never got into trouble and kicked its ***.

Did this last night with same group I did 2-5 with the other night, more or less:

NIN (me)
DRG
BLU
BLM
BLM
WHM

Was pretty straightforward tanking, having BLU is very nice for Head Butt, which was our only stun. BLU missed a stun on nightmare because he was Bludgeoning. Group HP went low around 50%, WHM ran in for Benediction and 1 BLM used Manafont. I had to fight for hate after that but nobody died and we won all in full health. Elemental Wheel helped get hate back (I didn't want to run across the grids and risk falling). I think the fight took around 10 minutes. We all used Jack-O-Lanterns for DRK-magic defense.
no big deal

Every one mentions how dificult is this battle I for one found it rather easy fight. set when like this...
dark(me)
smn(ferd)
dark(cavell)
pld(cecilee)
whm(jonnyboy)
war(mikeo)

We had a little trouble at the beging just getting to the tower. once we got there we RR up and went threw the firt red portal wiping all our buff(be careful when you pass any red,blm portals[things like shaddows,RR will be remove] so we go in losing rr we get to the third portal to find one of our member gone afk w/o tellings us(jonnyboy). so ferd goes and get him, gets kill in the proccess. jonnyboy came as blm first then he had to go all the way back to jeuno to change to whm due to the fact that we lost the RR we had on. be worry about members goin afk w/o telling anyone...

anyways to the battle we enter the fight for the first time, buff up and the pld leads the way. I utsusemi up and eat a sole rest buff. pld vokes him and we engage him, not knowing the layout we end it up in the opposite side of the room. we quickly recover and move to the other side. diabolos did one nightmare the entire fight at 75% health which i quickly stun after we just stun him for fun. after 20% health our pld due to the fact that mages ran out of mp(tip for mages get some yags drinks it helps) well here i end up tanking most of the fight.

after a few minutes of fighting him we decided to two hours i use mine right away draining 0's cuz diabolo coult not hit me lol had many evassion gear instead of going all out damage i kept up my shadows till it was dead and we finish with only the pld dyig overall and easy win.

Basically the only way to really get a feel for the fight is to go as a dry run. Don't use items until he hits 50% and you have it undercontrol. Once you get a feel for him it was a piece of cake. 70% of the fight was done without the whm or second blu. Blu's are god sends for this one.

noone had drk up to 40, and while most of my LS has blu, noone has it up high enough to have participated so we went in Stunless. we had a few interesting moments when he did nightmare almost right off the bat (hence why he's a cheater, dot while slept is not right) and one whm immediately barslept just to be safe. the war died, but reraised, shadowed and kept going (go them!). went through both whm 2hrs, and at around 10-13%, i had no mp left so i manafonted and spammed fire spells. at around 5%ish we were all spamming whatever nukes came to hand/mind of the mages.

pulled it off first fight, and our nerves shook for about an hour after. :)
