Description

To start this Garrison, you must be a Rank 2 citizen of the nation that controls the Sarutabaruta region (which will most likely be Windurst). Obtain a 7-Knot Quipus by hunting Yagudo Votaries in Giddeus. Note that the item is Rare/Ex and cannot be traded from one character to another, nor can it be sold. Form an alliance of characters (ideally 6, 12, or 18 participants). This means bringing appropriate equipment at items. Note that only one member of the alliance needs to have a Quipus in their possession for the Garrison to start. Trade the 7-Knot Quipus to the outpost guard to begin. A large number of NPC's will spawn, followed by a wave of Yagudo. The number of NPCs and Yagudo that spawn is proportional to the size of your alliance. After all the Yagudo are defeated, three more waves will spawn subsequently, each with an increasing number of Yagudo. A Notorious Monster - the Yagudo Condotierre - will spawn in addition to the fourth wave. It is a Ninja-type Yagudo and may use Mijin Gakure at some point during the fight. To be victorious, you must defeat all four waves of Yagudo and at least one NPC must survive. You may interact with NPCs by curing them and buffing them, and they will help you fight the Yagudo, but you cannot cast multiple-target spells such as Protectra or Curaga and you cannot issue the NPCs specific orders. NPCs will also not heal between battles (though they presumably have an inexhaustable supply of MP), and any unclaimed Yagudo will automatically try and target them. Mannequin Feet and Mannequin Legs will drop during the Garrison itself. If the Garrison is successful, you may also receive Garrison armor and Dragon Chronicles Pages; plus, everyone in the alliance receives a bit of gil. The number of items (between 2-6 items) and the amount of gil (between 1-2000 gil) you receive is dependent on the number of NPCs that survive the Garrison. A full 30 minutes must pass from the start of the Garrison before another Garrison can begin. All alliance members will have their levels restricted to 20. The time limit for Garrison is 30 minutes.

Usually the person that farms for the item that begins the garrison and trades it to the outpost to start the garrison gets the Dragon Chronicles. As for looting afterwords, two cases apply, if everyone is alive then let the lot casting begin. If someone is dead, they obviously cannot cast lots, so the leader of the garrison, hopefully decided beforehand as someone trustworthy and experienced, will cast lots on all items and take them for himself, to redistribute to players once everyone is alive. This is because raising 6 dead people may take several minutes (1 raise is 150mp from lvl25+ whm) and during those several minutes items might be randomly distributed to only those living players. after everyone is raised, the people who want said item will type /random to cast lots, and the winner will be traded the item from the garrison leader. Fair and simple, if every one cooperates. Garrisons are a lot of fun. If you want to join my garrison LS please /t Galois on Alexander. nihongo okay.

I am thinkin bout getting some people together from my linkshell to do a garrison. I have a question though... Who gets the garrison armor and dragon's page that you get for winning the garrison? Does it all go to the person who traded the item? or does it all go to random party members like item drops do? Can someone give me some input on this plz before I do this so that I can arrange something fair for all my linkshell peeps.... thanks

All items will go to the treasure pool. Mannequin parts drop during the battle off of w/e your fighting while the garrison gear and pages drop after you defeat all of the mobs and talk to the guy you traded the item to. The amount of pages and garrison gear that drops depends on how many NPC's are alive at the end of the fight. Garrison = loads of fun^^

Heh heh, just did my first Garrison today. Was fun, but very chaotic. Most of us died, but what can I expect when all but 1 of us had never done it before. Trying again tomorrow night. Wish me luck. ^^
Our Setup

Managed to do this pretty well yesterday with this setup, was a bit of a wierd setup though...

Party 1: BRD, WHM + our 4 Melee
Party 2: BLM, BLM, RDM, SMN
Party 3: PLD, PLD, WHM, WHM, SMN

Wierd setup - Point of it was Party 1 had the bard, seeing that have nothing at level 20 that'd help a mage so we stuck them with all the melees, I threw in a white mage just cause I doubt a bard could keep them all alive by themself. Party 2 was just all the mage DDs and Party 3 was all the healers + all the tanks, this way all the healers could focus on the tanks.

Didn't need any kiting between runs, etc - Just full out went for it, only 1 death ^^;

Sorry... double post.
sux
# Jul 12 2005 at 10:33 PM Rating: Decent
OK, this garrison sux....partly because its usually only noobs on them and the lag kills.
I have done them quite a few times......and successfully beat them twice...outta like 8 times....not because these guys r noobs cause they'll listen to us higher ranked, lvled ppl.....its the lag.
so if u plannin on doing these u better have high speed internet or u wont b able to do it. I have high speed but i cant kill all the mobs by myself which means every1 else either D/C'd or couldn't move....high speed only for this, way to much goin on in these to b on 56k><

if i wanted to try this with 6 ppl, what would be the best setup? i did it with 18 once and the lag was too bad to handle.
Some Tips

I've done this one quite a few times, Tips:
A) Kiteing: anyone with voke and a BLM or BRD can work it. I recomend pulling a Voatry, since it's a non-caster class it will not stop to cast while you kite it off (giving NPCs or allies a chance to grab it away from you). Also, if the Mele has a bow he can use it to pick off stray mobs to gain TP for final wave.

B) Utsusemi is uselles, the yags Spam Sweep, which eat up Shadows.

C) The NM will break you with his 2hr, it's AOE and will smoke almost all your NPCs. I suggest Pullin him away from battle, and useing a Distortion Skillchain with a double MB with Waterga when he hits 1/2 HP, doesn't have a chance to use it ^^

D) This is the harder of the 3 nations to get really good drops from, since your NPCS tend to spam Curaga and Stonga, pulling Yags and getting themselves killed. However, I find that the Yags are easier to kill compared to Orcs. ^^

E) I ushually use 2pts, less lag and chaos. Have 1 WHM for each PT and 1 for NPCs. 2 BLM is a must (1 for kite). MNK, PLD, DRK, WAR/NIN are good tank/dd. PLD and DRK should both use G sword (faster than scyth/ more damage than sword+shield)

reqs
# May 02 2005 at 1:56 PM Rating: Decent
Do all of the participants have to be of the nation that controlls the region or just the person that trades the item?
RE: reqs
# May 10 2005 at 8:38 PM Rating: Decent
Only the item trader needs to be from the country that controls that region.

It doesn't matter who else is in the alliance.

what have we learned?
# May 01 2005 at 1:29 AM Rating: Decent
We learned a painful lesson today, with a one out of three success rate for Windy.

1. Unless you have the bard as mentioned above to sleep one yag, dedicate two people to be your kiters. The initial kiter will run around with a yag until his or her HP dips below a hundred, and then they should voke-pass the mob to the backup kiter and go get healed. By the time the second kiter is getting close to a hundred hp, the mages should be all rested up, and they can bring the final yag back home. (Our kiter complained that the hardest part is simply keeping the NPCs from slaughtering that kited yag.)

2. Other than the bard as mentioned previously, pure support classes are not needed . . . You need healers, nukers, damage dealers with provoke, and the two kiters. You may die, and your dragon may die too, so be prepared. A THF might help the drops out. You'll need at least one healer per party, but I believe 4-6 healers would be better (either WHM or RDM.)

3. Unlike Eco-Warrior, all buffs survive the level cap. WHMs above 33 -- go ahead and cast Reraise. Bring out the highest Protectra and Shellra you have. BLMs toss on some Shock Spikes, just in case. SMNs play with Garuda and give your party blink. It's all worth it :D

4. Establish lotting rules BEFORE the fight begins.

5. Save up TP and two-hours for the NM at the end. Don't blow them before that.

6. Alliances MUST be done with five or six person parties -- a three party alliance with less than sixteen people will probably not succeed. Our 14 person runs failed, but our 12 person run succeeded.

The easiest way to be successful with this garrison is dedicating one Bard, and one tank (ideally a paladin) to be the sleepers. what you do is when the garrison starts and all hell breaks loose, have the tank voke one of the birdmen, then have him run off a safe distance. once you get far enough away so that the NPCs wont go attack it. then, the bard uses foe lullaby. After everyone else kills the other bird men, keep sleeping the one birdman, and have everyone rest up, and heal the recruits. once everyone is fully healed, kill the "Sleeper" and get ready to do that same for the next wave.

Another good idea would be to have 4 Whms, 1 for each party, and one for the recruits. (If you have a full alliance)

Good luck!
