Description

To start this Garrison, you must be a Rank 2 citizen of the nation that controls the Gustaberg region (which will most likely be Bastok).

Obtain a Darksteel Engraving by hunting Copper Quadavs in Palborough Mines. Note that the item is Rare/Ex and cannot be traded from one character to another, nor can it be sold.

Form an alliance of characters (ideally 6, 12, or 18 participants). This means bringing appropriate equipment at items. Note that only one member of the alliance needs to have an Engraving in their possession for the Garrison to start.

Trade the Darksteel Engraving to the outpost guard to begin. A large number of NPCs will spawn, followed by a wave of Quadav. The number of NPCs and Quadav that spawn is proportional to the size of your alliance. After all the Quadav are defeated, three more waves will spawn subsequently, each with an increasing number of Quadav. A Notorious Monster - the Lead Quadav - will spawn in addition to the fourth wave. It is a Paladin-type Quadav and may use Invincible at some point during the fight.

To be victorious, you must defeat all four waves of Quadav, and at least one NPC must survive. You may interact with NPCs by curing them and buffing them, and they will help you fight the Quadavs, but you cannot cast multiple-target spells such as Protectra or Curaga, and you cannot issue the NPC's specific orders. NPCs will also not heal between battles (though they presumably have an inexhaustable supply of MP), and any unclaimed Quadav will automatically try and target them.

Mannequin Feet and Mannequin Legs will drop during the Garrison itself. If the Garrison is successful, you may also receive Garrison armor and Dragon Chronicles Pages; plus, everyone in the alliance receives a bit of gil. The number of items (between 2-6 items) and the amount of gil (between 1-2000 gil) you receive is dependent on the number of NPCs that survive the Garrison.

A full 30 minutes must pass from the start of the Garrison before another Garrison can begin.

All alliance members will have their levels restricted to 20.

The time limit for Garrison is 30 minutes.

Ok, i Just did this NG Garrison, and I gotta say i was haveing fun for the first 2 runs, out of 3 runs. Granted, Both I and the 2 partys we brought mostly died. But it just didnt seem to be enough ppl for this particular garrison. I definatly would suggest a full 18-member alliance for this one folks. Unless you wanna go in with 900exp on your 42 rdm and lose a majority of it and gain no items in the proccess :/ Yeah, thats hen thing became not so fun anymore. So... the moral of the story here is.... NEVER GIMP A GARRISON WITH 12PPL WHEN YOU DONT HAVE TO, AND FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, MAKE SURE SOME OTHER PPL CAN GET GET THE GARRISON ITEM IN ADVANCE SO YOU CAN DO ENOUGH RUNS SO EVERYONE GETS SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE POST WHAT ITEM THE PPL NEED IN TEH LS OR SOMETHING GEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZ!!!! thank you for you time, i hope this has been enlightening.

Hey I thought I'd let you know that this can be done with 10-11 ppl with no one dieing at all.

I'm not playing with you either, my LS has done this one 3 times and the one in Buburimi(sp?)<outside of Mhaura>. And we've done several runs with only 10 or 11 ppl without anyone dieing.

If you're getting completely wiped on these with 12 ppl, then either your mages or your tanks or both are not doing their jobs correctly. Also you need to keep the NPC's health up between assaults and keep them from dieing as well. It helps you in the mage department and also in hate control. And the more NPC's that live and the better their health when it is done with, the more items and gil you get when done.

And we actually do these with only 8 ppl sometimes(10 ppl total), but we have a voker and a RDM or BLM off to the side to keep a mob or gob asleep while the mages get their MP back, and when they do we kill the remaining sleeping mob or gob and wait for the next assault to begin, with all mage at max MP and all NPC's at max HP. It makes it so much simpler and it goes extremely smoothly.

Also I know it lags ALOT but, once you've done about 10 runs in a single night on Garrison you'll get used to it. Trust me.

Oh ya, it does help alot when everyone has the item beforehand. Our LS posts the info up a week in advance, so that everyone gets a chance to obtain the item needed for the Garrison.
Diffuculty???
# Nov 15 2006 at 4:33 PM Rating: Decent
Can anyone answer a question for me. I heard that the diffuculty of the garrison quest is related to the amount of people in the party/alliance. The fewer people the fewer spawns. Anyone know???
Looking for Active LS

I'm on Siren Server and have been wanting to do a garrison (Bastok), but I can't get people together to do one. So if anyone has an Active LS that does Garrisons on the Siren Server. Let me know. - Arturous

Wow, did my first one today.
We had a full alliance (18 ppl) so it twas very hectic.

I went as 20 red/blm. I was designated the person who HAD TO MAKE SURE ALL THE NPC'S STAYED ALIVE! We had between 18-24 npc's spawn, and I finished with 10-12 alive. Got 1122 or 1221 or 1212 gil, some combonation of that.

If this is your job let me give you a tip. Either DON'T or be ready for a very grueling task. It's like watching 20 hyperactive kindergarteners that're trying to kill turtles. It's very hard to do.

(Question: Did I do well? Whats the normal number of NPC's who survive in a large alliance like mine?)

Lotted 934 on Manny Feet (beat the runner up by only 4 points, thank you 4 leaf clover!).

Twas tremendous fun and got good stuff. :)

Quite honestly thats horrible when i do garrisons our healers often find it rare to have just 1 npc die. Also more npcs alive the better the drops iv heard.

Ok i did a new strategy and it worked
Pt setup was:
party 1- pld pld war war whm whm
party 2- nin blu blu blm

Pld voke mob War help take out the pld has.

Blm cast whatever spell the mob is weak to.

Blu will need to bring "Sheep Song" "Healing Wind the dhamel ws" "Cocoon" "Metalic Body" "Pollen" and whatever other moves u want.

Whm heal members and Npcs

Nin kites and keeps kiting till all npcs have been healed and everyone has 100% hp and mp

possible strategy
# Oct 04 2006 at 6:35 AM Rating: Decent
Here's an idea. Do the possible strategy yourself and then report back to the forum with the story about how it went for you. That way you can actually contribute to the forum, instead of taking up space with a failed attempt to prove you've already got it all figured out, even though you've never done it.

Both sets of info on the recast timer are incorrect in my eperience. I have done up to runs with no waiting between runs. Runs took 15-25 mins each. The only thing I have had to wait for is having the same person start another garrison. You can only start one per real life week. However you can join as many as you want.

"A full 30 minutes must pass from the start of the Garrison before another Garrison can begin."

Warning, this is incorrect. My LS is very experienced with Garrison. The reason that there may be a wait between rounds is that you can only do ONE PER GAME DAY. So if you end and get your prizes on 23:59 on one day, and the next begins, you are able to do another.

This is also incorrect, I dont know if this was an update done in the past year or what.

You can do Garrisons back to back, all you have to do is make sure that everyone has the level restriction gone and if it still wont let you trade, all that needs to be done is to disband and reform your pt's. And then you can continue on.

We've done it like that several times, you dont need to wait for the next game day.

If you're Windurstian on Leviathan server, and you'd like a chance to activate Garrison Gustaberg, this week is it because we have control probably for the only time ever! We're planning to get an alliance together and do this thing as many times as we can tonight! So get your Darksteel Engravings, then PM Oraan for an invite this afternoon. Leaving 6:30 Central.

Citizenship
# Jun 11 2005 at 9:47 AM Rating: Decent
Quote:
To start this Garrison, you must be a Rank 2 citizen of the nation that controls the Gustaberg region (which will most likely be Bastok).

Does this only apply to the person who holds the Darksteel Engraving? Can a Bastok citizen start the quest and have a full alliance with the other 17 people from Windurst and San D'oria?

Next question:

Quote:
The number of items (between 2-6 items) and the amount of gil (between 1-2000 gil) you receive is dependent on the number of NPCs that survive the Garrison.

NOTE: The number of NPCs I'm using in this question is random, I have no idea how many actually spawn.

Is this by percentage or a fixed number? What I mean by this is: If I start with a full alliance and lets say 20 NPCs spawn, and 6 survive, do I get the same reward as if I start with a full pt and 6 NPCs spawn and they all survive? Or if 6/6 survive, will I get a better reward than if 6/20 survive?
RE: Citizenship
# Jul 23 2005 at 2:19 PM Rating: Decent
Yes this only applies to the person holding the engraving, citizens from any nation can join the garrison, but the person holding the engraving must be bastokan, or whoever controls the region and at least rank 2 as it says.

Too bad i didnt know this when i did the ronfaure garrison, lol since im bastokan i couldnt trade it in so we had to get a sandorian to go all the way back to yughott grotto and farm it all over again. ;(

Anyone on Cerberus want to do this? I have many jobs ready, such as Thief, Monk, Ninja, White Mage, and Black Mage. Bard is at 18 but that's too low, huh? I follow orders well. That's about it, so send a /tell whenever you feel like doing one, thanks! ^.^

garrisons are a lot like outdoor BCNMs.. regardless of lvl, you will have a "maximum level cap" put into effect on you.. in other words, if you are over lvl20, while you are inside the garrison battle, you will be capped at lvl20 and only be able to use lvl20 or under gear >_< makes my bard utterly useless for the Garrison20's ;_;
