Battle Notes

To start the battle you need to go see Twinkbrix at (E-13) in Oldton Movalpolos. He will let you gamble anywhere from 1 to 10,000 gil with him. If you win then he will give you the key item: Shaft Gate Operating Dial to enter the battlefield. The more gil you bet the better you odds. He rolls two 50 sided dice. At 1 gil they must total 2. At 10k they must total anywhere from 2 to 50. With varying levels of odds inbetween. After winning he will offer to warp you to Mine Shaft #2716 for 2000 gil.

This is a solo ENM battle. You will have 15 minutes to defeat it.

You will see two NMs. The Moblin Fantocciniman and the Fantoccini. You must defeat the Fantoccini, which will be the same job as you. The Moblin Fantocciniman will roll a die and randomly buff either you or the Fantoccini. To win, you must kill the Fantoccini. The Moblin Fantocciniman does not aggro. Do not attack him or he will join the fight.

Just did this as Samurai and kicked his *** >:D.

I tried one time as lvl 59 (no Yukikaze...) and failed bigtime so i really recomend getting lvl 60 with Samurai before doing this.
i went in with 1 Icarus Wing and 2 X potions and had to use all items to survive.

Tactic: went in and used Meditate, waited for it to be ready to recast. Used Third Eye and waited 45 secs and engaged and spammed Tachi: Yukikaze.
The Fantochini had some luck with the dices, and so did i and ended killing him with 250ish HP left.

I didn´t get earing but 2k exp in about 6 mins.

Gear:
Great Katana: Daihanna
Body: Haubergeon
Head: Valkyrie´s Mask
Earings: Spike earings X2
Hands: Roual Knights Mufflers
rings: Sun Ring X2
Neck: Merman's Gorget
Legs: AF legs
Feet: AF feet (for def)
Back: Nomads Mantle (sold my Jaeger Mantle)
Food: Sole Sushi

Just go in and be aggresive as hell! >:D

I wrote this under the healing feather, but re-writing in shorter form here.. As WHM, I'm 6/7 on beating this now. Got the feather on 5th victory, but I still do it for exp sometimes. I wanna start doing Automaton Assault instead. :)

What I bring
-Capped club skill (It's important to at least be close)
-Meat Chiefkabob for a nice attack bonus
-Memento muffler for the +7 VIT enchantment
-Yagudo drink (Just in-case)
-Hi-ether x2 (Just in-case)

I started bringing a drink and 2 ethers after I saw Benediction x3, but since then, I've used 1 drink, and no ethers. Better safe than sorry though. :)

I use a LOT of alternate gear. I also spent a LOT of time making money to afford it all. You do NOT need all of this. There's cheaper versions of everything I have and you can probably hardly notice the difference. Anyway, here's what I use:

All-the-time Gear:
AF hat, AF pants, AF boots

Enfeebling Gear (Concentrate on MND and enfeebling+):
Blessed Hammer, Divine Shield, Holy Ampulla, AF body, Devotee's Mitts, Penitent's Rope, Sapient Cape, Promise Badge, Serket Ring, Ether Ring, Magician's Earring (I wonder if this helps, since SMN sub goes down to 0.. o.O;), Geist Earring

(MND+ rings would be better for enfeebling, but no wasting maxmp at the start.. :p)

Melee Gear (Focus on DEF and attack+):
Arcana Breaker, Strike Shield, Happy Egg, Divine Breastplate, AF gloves, Life Belt, Republican Army Mantle, Spike Necklace, Phalanx Ring x2, Spike Earring x2

Nuking Gear (Focus on MND):
Blessed Hammer?, Divine Shield?, Holy Ampulla?, Devotee's Mitts, Penitent's Rope, Sapient Cape, Promise Badge, Geist Earring

The Battle-plan
-Cast buffs (With my VCloak on to save time): Reraise, Protect, Shell, Stoneskin, Blink
(I cast stoneskin/blink at the start, but don't other keeping them up during the fight)

-Rest to full mp again (with dark staff, of course)

-Enfeebling: I run just outside of agro range, use memento muffler (If I remembered to bring it), Switch to enfeebling gear, cast haste, pull out my hammer and cast Slow, Paralyze, Dia II. I keep haste, paralyze and dia up during the entire fight

-Meleeing: I throw on all my melee gear and exchange blows with the Fantoccini, using True Strike whenever I have TP. To save MP, I only use Cure IV, or Divine Seal + Cure III. The WHM Fantoccini has no devastating attacks, so it isn't dangerous to let yourself get down to orange or red HP.

-Nuking?: Wouldn't it suck if the Fantoccini used Benediction when he was at 5% HP? Yep, it sucks. What I do is turn the battle into a 2vs1 handicap match to stop the dice from rolling. When the Fantoccini is close enough to dead, I throw on my nuking gear (But don't change weapon/shield/ammo if I have TP), cast Flash, then Banishga II. Use TP if I have it and finish the Fantoccini quickly with Holy. The Moblin will disappear too when the Fantoccini dies.

Edited to make it shorter because it was actually longer than my first post.. Still long, but oh well. I hope it helps all the WHM's that wanna do this. Please rate up if it does help! ^^

PLD Strategy

Ok, I'm 2/2 on this ENM. As most people say, luck plays a major roll in your chances.

Gear:

Full AF
Gluttony Sword
Chrysoberl Rings
Life Belt
Drone Earring x2
Knightly Mantle
Ryl.Grd. Collar
Fortune Egg
Msk.Cmd. Shield

Food:
First time I didn't use any food. Second time I ate a Meat Mithkabob. I also brought 2 Yagudo Drinks each time.

Strat:
Got to the ENM, entered, cast Protect/Shell 3. Swapped in my Dark Staff, drank a drink, ate food, and rested 2 ticks. By the time I got to the NM, my MP was filled. I engaged the NM from out of range. I used Shield Bash and Sentinel early in the fight so they could be used again later in the fight (.... yes it can take that long -.-).

If you read the chat log, you can Flash the NM when he gets TP so his WS miss or do low damage (I've flashed a lv75 monk's Asuran's Fists in Ballista and only took 94 damage XD). This can be a real MP saver.

Drink your Yag drink when the first one wears off unless your MP is full and you don't need any curing. Cure 4 is the most MP effecient Cure spell you have. So wait 'til you have lost about 400 hp before you cure so you don't overcure and waste MP =\

If you get to the HP when he could kill you in one WS (I'd say 200-300) then you should definately 2 hour. Usually by the time that happens it'll be down to the end of the fight so 30 seconds of invincibility may be enough for the win.

Watch out for Spirits Within. If he gets it at the start of the fight, you're basically screwed unless you bring a dozen potions..

Good luck ^^/

For anyone wandering.. :P

I looked around on google and sorted through some Japanese stuff.. From what I can tell, it's supposedly 5 days. It's counted seperately from the weekly reset and any other NM and such. You can talk to the NPC that you gamble with at any point and he will tell you how long is left in earth and Vana'diel time.

So! Any confirmation is good, besides that, five days is what I've come up with. ;)

Just tried this for first time and won...

Tactical ring:
[Ring] All Races
Enchantment: TP Regen
Lv.61 DRK
<20/20 0:30/[30:00, 0:30]>

Um...I think I pretty much got lucky other than wasting 33k to get there :( Started with a Bio II, Absorb-VIT, and Absorb-STR. Used drain every chance i got and Blood weapon when I hit 500. Moblin dude never helped me but didnt help him too much either, gave him attack+, defense+, and weapon bash twice. If he had gotten a WS or cure, I would have lost... finished with 54hp, 9mp. Didnt use potions or food, just went with my gear and an "I'll give it a shot" attitude.

Vassago's scythe
Chaos burgeonet
Royal Knight's Chainmail
Royal Knight's Mufflers
Royal Knight's Breeches
Chaos sollerets
Royal Guard's Collar
Lightning bow
Assault earring
Spike earring
Sniper's ring x2
Life belt
Night cape

This fight was a lot easier for BLM than I thought. Here's the play-by-play.

- Spell (Effect)
--------------------------
- Burst (1,028)
- Drain (58HP)
- Burn (NA)
- Blind (NA)
- Poison 2 (NA)
- Rasp (NA) <--It casted INT down on me here
- Blizzard II (311)
- Thunder II (339)
- Aspir (104MP)
- Drain (227HP)
- Elemental Sealed Bind (Resisted)
- Burst (913)
- Thundaga (224)
- Thunder (125)

Dead.

Reward: 2,000 merit points, no drops ; ;

Equipment used:
- Aquilo, Pluto, Jupiter staff
- Entire AF set
- 2 x Eremite Ring +1
- Black Cape +1
- Moldavite Earring
- Cunning Earring
- Blacksilk Neckerchief
- Penitent's Rope

Merit Points:
- +6 Elemental Magic Pts (level 3).
- +4 Thunder Potency Pts (level 2).
- +2 Evasion Skill Pts (level 1).

Food:
- Melon Pie

The NM was hitting for at most 30 something on critical attacks (I'm taru) and he never interrupted my casting even when he landed 5 hits during my 2nd Burst cast so just play it smart and you'll pwn this fool. Good luck.

Yes, the battle is without your sub. Dragoon vs. Dragoon in your case. The Fantocini shouldnt start out with a wyvern though. It'll take a good roll of the dice before that happens. When you try it, post the results. I'm interested how Dragoon's fare in this battle. Good Luck!

Well, I'm not the original poster, but..

As a Dragoon, I did this fight earlier.. It was a bit rough, but I came out victorious! I didn't, however, receive any special treasures at the end.

The fight was straight forward, nothing special about it. I unequipped my gear, and put on my cudgel, just to test, and when going in I found a the puppet to have a lance, so I'm not too convinced that my gear affects it in any way.

For dragoon, the Fantonicci attacks SLOW. VERY SLOW. He does, however, still hit for 70s, which is a bit rough. I used a fish mithkabob and a pear au lit thingy for the regen, besides that I just attacked.

Partway through the Moblin rolled a 2hr, thus bringing the Fan's wyvern into play. I let my wyvern get aggro, and took out his wyvern, since it was hitting steadily for 30s-40s. No really strong rolls one way or the other, save a few jumps rolled for the Fan that did about 100 each.. At about 1/3rd hp I super jumped to let my wyvern tank a bit more, a WS was rolled for the Fan, which killed my wyvern (And would have killed me!) At this point, I had about 170hp, and he was at maybe 15%.. I hit a time or two more, and put him down with Skewer.

Ended at about 119hp, it was close! But it was fun too. 2k exp ain't bad!

Only thing of note: The Fanton's Dragon killer trait nearly takes your wyvern out of the fight, at times it would intimidate my Eisenzahn three or four times in a row (Including for his breath attack after a WS.)

Nothing special really besides any of that, really it was fairly straightforward. Kill before being killed, let your wyvern tank if needed, and WS as best as you can! Besides that, the rolls will decide the most.

Edit: Oh yeah, for the fight I removed my earrings due to the -evasion, as well as the woodsman ring.. Accuracy was no problem at all in this fight, as I figured would be the case, so I opted for the extra evasion.

Just did this this morning. Items I brought were:

Jack-o'-Lantern
Pamama au lait
Icarus Wing
Hi-Potionx5

Equipment was as follows:

Beetle Knife+1
(forgot to bring my Strike Shield)
Arbalest+1
Acid Bolts
Emperor Hairpin
Spike Necklace
Dodge Earringx2
Scorpion Harness
Rogue's Armlets
Sniper's Ring
Sun Ring
Nomad's Mantle
Survival Belt
Rogue's Culotte
Winged Boots

Went in, used the jack-o'-lantern and icarus wing, drank the pamama au lait, hit Sneak Attack + Hide, then engaged and ran up to attack. He saw through Hide and moved towards me as I ran at him, but Hide did not fall and I landed a Sneak Attack on him for 265+. Hit him with Dancing Edge after that. I tried a few Acid Bolts, but couldn't manage to hit him (even though my marksmanship is capped). So I decided to stick to just melee. Popped Hi-Potions when I dropped too far into the yellow for my liking, and was doing pretty well. The Moblin healed him a few times, and had him do WSs a few times as well. He only used Shadowstitch and Viper Bite throughout the battle. At one point my health started getting too low, so I hit Perfect Dodge. While Perfect Dodge was active, the Moblin rolled the dice and healed me for 300 HP, which helped a LOT. I was using Dancing Edge whenever I got over 100 TP. Eventually I got him really low, but when he had the tiniest little sliver of health left, the moblin made him Steal from me. Of all the things he could've stolen, he stole my dagger. >_<;; So now I was barehanded, and my hand-to-hand skill is only 62... and the thing has practically no life left. So I started trying to use Acid Bolts again, and managed to hit him with the second one, finishing him off just in time! Got 2000 exp and worm mulch, but no Assassin's Ring. :(

My observations on this fight: I was lucky that he didn't use Perfect Dodge himself. Next time I'm going to have to try and remember to equip my Hornetneedle if he steals my Beetle Knife+1. XD Also, I'd recommend against using Jack-o'-Lanterns. The majority of your damage in this fight comes from Dancing Edge, and CHR-10 cripples Dancing Edge (which is STR and CHR-based). I suspect this fight would've gone much better had I used a bowl of Navarin, or even something without any +evasion like a Meat Mithkabob. And for those who don't believe Dancing Edge is CHR based: I do about 900-1000 damage on an average DC mob (72 exp) with SA+DE with kabob. With Jack-o'-Lantern on the same mob, I do about 500-600 damage with SA+DE. The STR and attack from the kabob are part of that, but certainly not all of it. :P

Also, a note to any THFs looking to try this battle: the additional effects of status bolts (Bloody, Acid, Sleep, Venom, etc...) do NOT work on this mob. That's the biggest reason this fight is so challenging.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that my evasion was 196 going into this, not counting evasion+ from equipment. I got 1.0 points worth of skillups total in evasion from the fight, which was nice. ^^

Did this again today. Lost this time. :( Things I did different:

-Didn't bring an Icarus Wing, so no initial Dancing Edge.
-Remembered to bring my Strike Shield XD
-Used Navarin instead of Jack-o'-Lantern.
-Was using my friend's Scorpion Harness+1 instead of the NQ.

Overall this time, I noticed I was doing more damage with normal attacks, though Dancing Edge actually seemed a little weaker (which I don't understand, cuz I did have 8 less accuracy, but I had way more STR and CHR...). I was mainly unlucky this time. He kept healing the Fantocinni, though he did give me an Attack Boost and a Defense Boost during the fight. This time though, he used Gust Slash (which did about 200 damage), and Dancing Edge (about 350), and Cyclone twice (once for about 170, and again for about 210). He also used Perfect Dodge right after Dancing Edge and the first Cyclone (which he did in almost rapid succession), at which point I disengaged and Flee'd to the zone and waited for him, figuring by the time he got there Perfect Dodge should be gone or almost gone. When he got to me, he did Cyclone from almost out of sight and killed me. One thing I noticed with some dismay was that Cyclone hits you even if you're using Perfect Dodge. >< I was unlucky, but I did come close to winning. Was still a fun fight, if a waste of 25k. XD And I did get .8 evasion, .5 shield, and .3 parrying skillups. ^^

Actualy, all it does is de-equip your dagger, you can put it back on right away, just go into equip and do so. My first match (wich I won) he de-equipped my dagger, shield, hat, armor, and boots through many steals. annoying... but at least he didn't too many buffs.

I tried this on sunday night, brought a steamed crab, and an icarus wing.

Started out by using the crab and wing as soon as i got in, engaged the NM and guillotined right away. He parried my first attack, and my attack after guillotine >.> He attacked a lot slower than i did, but for a lot more damage at the same time...

Gobbie rolled dice, he got a WS, Nightmare Scythe, did about 300dmg, i drained about 200back.
Next roll, he got a defense boost.
At this time, i tried binding, then was gonna nuke him (silenced from guillotine, so i had nothing to worry about) well, he resisted, and the gobbie continued with a dice roll.
******* got a full heal... at this point, he had about 40% hp... now he`s got 100%

I finally got enough tp to guillotine again, which i did. Gobbie got another dice roll, attack bonus for me, so i used Last resort, Souleater, and Blood Weapon, got about 2 hits in, and gobbie rolled a WS for him... Guillotine, I died.

Failed on second attempt as RDM. Everything was fine until the Moblin rolled a Chainspell for him, this was only a minor snag. After recovering from that he rolls ANOTHER chainspell for him which was just too much for me. Basically a very unlucky run.

First off the Ninja earing is called the Naruko Earing. Has enchantment +10 enmity, same charges and times as the rest of the earings. Not too shabby for ninjas really.

Items I brought with me.
6 - XPotions (had crafted for me)
1 - Icarus Wing
1 - Jack O Lantern
1 - Panama Au Lait

Now thats a lot of stuff for 2K xp, but I wanted to see if I could do it.

Entered the battlefield with no armor on at all. Not sure if that helped or not but I did it anyway. Gear on, which was normal evasion gear and AF. Cast Ni, eat jacko, use icarus wing, drink au lait, say prayer.

Now luck does play a part in this fight but keeping calm keeps a bigger part. I got a few good rolls that healed me for 200-300hp but the Fantocini got some great rolls as well. He used Mijin Gakure twice on me. He also got numerous TP rolls. My strategy was this. Open with Blade:Jin. Cast blind, slow and para (they all stuck). Melee strikes did about 40-45 each hit and I used the elemental wheel a lot and it did between 60-80 each spell. I have Muketsu's equipped and they drained 5-15 HP when they did...that's not really bad. Use TP as soon as you have it. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS...Keep Shadows Up. If you can do that, you cant lose. I never got hit with a WS and he used Rin, Retsu and Jin. I used up 2-3 shadows blocking them but that is the key. Mijin Gakure does some damage but thats why you have xpoitions handy. I ended the fight with 540/968HP. Got ring drop, worm mulch and 2K xp. I am going to try it without the Icarus wing next time. That would make it more affordable especially if you can craft the potions. Hope this helps all of the ninjas out there.

Edit - Not sure for some of you people that say you didnt get any items, but for the record, after you open the chest and get your 2000xp you need to click the chest again to get your items. At least that's what I did. And I forgot but the battle took about 5 minutes.

I must be the unluckiest person ever. I've tried this ENM 4 times now. The first time the goblin rolled Chainspell first roll. >_< My Stoneskin, phalanx and blink were all knocked off by Thunder II and Fire II, Blizzard II took me to less then half my hp, and Aero II did me in completely since I couldn't get stoneskin up in time.

Second time I had this guy down to about 40% when the goblin rolled Spirits Within at 300% TP. Up until that point all the other rolls had been in my favor. ; ;

The 3rd time, again, Spirits Within at 300% TP almost the second my stoneskin dropped.

/sigh I don't think I'll ever beat this thing.

after you kill the puppet fights over, crate pops and you leave, goblin disapears, but maybe you could kill him b4 the puppet. i've only done it once and i lucked out madly, easy as hell, went in no items on a whim and won no problem, whereas my friend has died 3 times to a combination of spirits within and chainspell. ouch.

Lets say this fight could have gone a little better. Went as a 60 sam won the bet at 5k. So i get the tele to zone unequip head through the gate. I see the mob has no gear just my blade so i go ok this should be easy.

LOL the first time it hit me he took like 130 hp. Ok no big deal. As the fight drags on a pop a high potion or 3 along with 2hr. by the time this was done i had 200 hp left. It was running on fumes.

And then came my death within the next two swing. This mob proved just how good a samurai's parry really is. The **** blocked half my hits.

Once i heard about this ENM I figure I give it a go.... Im a 62 bard Fight was easy
I am a cook and had left over raisen bread +hp/vit and lotsa pear juice... i won gamble of 4k gil and paid 2k for tele to the zone... Once there just before gate I unequiped everything but my corsette +1 and mp rings, then entered re-equiped inside and ran a long way and found the boss. Just noticed I lost access to my SUBJOB heeh >.> oh well... I then 2hr paeon + minuet, requiem +elegy.. the mob was HUME (so was I) with no gear and what looked like the AF1 weapon... I was getting hit for about 36 per swing but i was hitting harder and more often... I won most of the rolls all i got was TP and attack up... the NM got a couple TP moves... all i got hit with was a Cyclone (booo lame i got tons of wind def) and lotsa Viper bites later on. I rebuffed b4 2hr was up... At the end I lost less then 1/4 max hp...Maybe 2hr was a bit much but it was faster.
Gear- AF everything, spike necklace str+dex rings(also my chr for debuff), switched to life belt and a cermet (sp)sword +1 and our 1 and only shield...
I won 2k xp and a bag a worm mulch (what the heck is that??)
NOTES::: after fight the 1st mob was VT to me @62 must have warp after (i am gonna sub BLM next time because Subjob was off during NM fight)
-Anyone know what worm mulch is? It is stackable... Im goin to send it to mule and see if its like seeds and grow it (cant equip it-not bait).
-How aften can you do ENM??? is it once per Tally? Like ECO ?

Thanks and Goodluck on this mission

Went yesterday as RDM, the fight was pretty easy, with him hitting me for around 20-30pts damage each hit, he didn't cast many spells either. The thing to watch out for is his WS's. He never used spirits within but I think he used a fully charged shining blade which stung a little. The moblin gave me a few buffs including fully charged TP and DEF boost. Gave him an ATK boost and TP charge also. Battle probably lasted 3-4min and all I got was 2000xp. Empty armoury crate! >.<
solo ENM as rdm

I did this today as Rdm - easy fight but somewhat tricky. Luckily I ended up getting the ring, so I'm happy! Anyone who wants to know a good rdm strategy, let me know and I'll be happy to type one up for this ENM.

Has anyone tested and possibly confirmed wether or not going into this battle in the buff might lower your opponent's base stats as it does for Maat?
