Battle Notes

The Promyvion ENMs, capped at level 30, basically mirror the Promyvion Missions for Chains of Promathia. You make your way to the Spire of each Promyvion, then fight a weaker version of the boss you fight in the actual Promyvion Missions. The reward is 18,000 experience divided by the number of people in your party, with a maximum experience gain of 3,000 per person. Winning also gives the party three memory clusters (which are used in Alchemy), and the chance to get rare earrings that give +3 on various stats.

You can enter "Simulant" and the other Promyvion ENMs with up to an entire alliance, but the experience points reward for doing so would be reduced to 1,000 per person. Each Promyvion ENM is winnable with a balanced party of six. Parties of seven or eight virtually ensure victory.

To start the ENM "Simulant," you must first talk to Venessa in Ru'Lude Gardens and acquire a key item: Censer of Abandonment. Everyone in your party must have this because you can't fight the ENM boss without it. Make sure everyone has proper foods and medication, Reraise items, and Signet.

Everyone should have at least two Poison Potions for this ENM to counter the boss' [1]FFXI Spell:Sleepga I|Sleepga]] move. Tanks should bring Holy Water because the boss also uses an AoE curse move. It's recommended to bring at least one anima for this fight, just in case of an emergency.

Strategies

When everyone in your party is ready, enter the Promyvion - Holla and work your way up to the Spire of Holla. When you are ready, click on the door inside the Spire and choose the battle Simulant. You have 30 minutes to defeat the boss, which is an empty NM named Cogitator.

The Cogitator uses AoE Sleep, Curse and Blind moves. Also, the Cogitator uses a move that absorbs either three buffs or 200 hp from whoever has hate. Therefore, when your party buffs up before the fight, it is best for people to use Reraise and Protect first, followed by buffs such as Shellra, Barfira, Barsleepra, etc. The goal is to give the Cogitator junk buffs to absorb, while leaving your Reraise and Protect untouched. You also want to have enough buffs so the boss doesn't absorb hit points from party members.

The Cogitator also spawns Weepers during the fight.

A sound battle plan to beat this boss is:

  • Have everyone use Poison Potions just before engaging, because the boss can use its Sleepga move right off the bat.
  • Tank the Cogitator away from the mages.
  • Tanks use Holy Water if they get cursed.
  • Assign people to tank the weepers as they spawn, or assign someone to kite weepers if you have more than six people, but have everyone focus their attacks on the boss.
  • Use your anima near the end of the fight -- perhaps when the boss is at 30-percent health -- if healers are low on mp.
  • Do controlled, steady damage to keep hate locked down on your tank.

Note: If anyone dies during the fight, DO NOT TOUCH THE REWARD SPHERE THAT APPEARS AFTER THE BOSS DIES UNTIL EVERYONE IS RAISED. People who are still dead when the sphere is touched will not receive their exp reward.

OK I dont know why every one thinks this is hard. we were doing some Promy runs for the LS and we (the members who were done allready) were going to try this. Rng War(me) and whm X2 No anima's. we had just used them on the Real promy boss. the only time we were in a bind was after the pet spawned. anyway it was too weak. got our 3k exp and it drop one Vision. all in all a good fight.
wtf!

Main NM

It's funny how the link to the NM's pet mob is here but not the actual NM XD.
About to attempt this with SMNx3, WHMx1, WAR/NINx1, and RNG/NINx1. I'll get back with the results.

Owned it with no deaths or HP in the yellow. Dropped three different kinds of clusters though -_-;

Are you curious if you can do this in a party of 6 BST ? Tigresitos all BST ls on Caitsith did this last night with 6 bst party. Battle was quite easy. Used some CC's and some tigers only about 1 - 2 animas and some regen drink...we killed the thing so fast. It was very easy.. all our MP and HP were barrely touched ^^. Was a fun time. We also took out the promy mission boss (whatever his name is) This battle was a little harder and took a little longer but was still also pretty easy.
Tigresitos - is kick as BST ls .... recognize :P

completed promys?
# Oct 01 2005 at 4:44 AM Rating: Decent
my ls asked a good question that i did not know the answer too, do have to have the 3 promys completed to do the ENM's. i have done dem and holla ENM's but i have all the promy's done so i did not know how to answer this.
RE: completed promys?
# Oct 08 2005 at 7:22 PM Rating: Decent
No, you do not have to complete the promys to do the ENMs. Its a completely separate battle. All you need to have is the Censer for whichever spire you are going to. Though if you do lose in an ENM or a promy, and you have not previously completed that specific promy, you will have to erase memories at that telepoint before moving on to a different telepoint. Hope this helps

Tried this today before the holla boss, he spams Negative Whirl(AoE) which adds slow. It was hitting me for 165 damage each time so I went down fast, luckily our whm escaped, we stood no chance.

Troubleshooting
# Jul 04 2005 at 2:35 PM Rating: Decent
Ok , a couple friends in my ls said that all ENMs are repeatable. When I look at this one , it sais it is not. Is it true only some ENMs are repeatable or are they all repeatable and you only have to wait a set number of days (5?) before doing it again. Please , I would appreciate your assistance.

Its repeatable after 5 days. Talk to the NPC who you get the censer from, and she will tell you the exact time you can can do it again.

my linkshell and i have done all 3 level 30 cap promyvion ENM's, several times too.
This one, "You Are What You Eat" (dem), and "Playing Host" (mea). oh and yeah and btw my linkshell is beastmaster linkshell, so we did them all with 6 beastmasters.
We tried doing the actual Promyvion-Dem fight once after the ENM, but we got creamed. Then again we only used 1 anima i think. with more, we might have won.

i have videos too
