Summary

Yurim wants to show you the fruits of her research, but lacks the materials to begin the final stage of the experiment. You know what you have to do!

Walkthrough

Talk to Yurim in Tavnazian Safehold to start the quest. You can receive one of the following from this quest:

You must trade Yurim the colored chip that corresponds to the item that you wish to receive, along with either a Gorget or Silver Obi. (If getting an earring, trade a Silver Earring instead.) Choose your item carefully, as you cannot switch to a different item until you complete the current one. Talk to Yurim again for more information. You can trade Yurim an apple pie for even more hints.

Head to Al'Taieu and kill the mobs there for the required items. Here is a list for which items you require for which reward:

Relaxing Earring

Sanative Earring

Karin Obi

Dorin Obi

Suirin Obi

Furin Obi

Hyorin Obi

Rairin Obi

Korin Obi

Anrin Obi

Flame Gorget

Soil Gorget

Aqua Gorget

Breeze Gorget

Snow Gorget

Thunder Gorget

Light Gorget

Shadow Gorget

Return to Tavnazian Safehold and trade all the items at once to Yurim to receive your reward.

"I'm still pretty lost. I am mnk and want to get Gorget for Asuran Fist WS. More Likely to just solo w/ it in WS spam partys. I checked Koolaid site and notice there were 2 gorgets w/ Asuran Fist on them. Well.... wich one should i get? If anyone has a gorget as mnk and uses it, or know wich is better, please post or let me know, i would greatly appreciate the info. Soil or Shadow. I was thinking Soil but.... don't want to waste me and friends time gettn wrong items"

If you go to koolaid site click on one of the red WS atribuits it will show you the list of all ws and primary and secondary atribuits. Get the gorget that matches the primary on your WS.

Wich for Asuran Fists is the shadow gorget.

i think i traded a chip or something to her months ago but cant remember , now i got what i need for light obi but she wont accept my trade anyway to find out what you need to have to finish the previous quest or find out what chip you already gave her?
Semi-Misleading

The information here and on Somepage is semi-misleading. The link that Demitel supplied is by far the best information on this quest available.

To get the obis, you need 3 of 1 type of organ and 7 of another. In addition, you'll need 3 luminian tissues before you can get the obis.

I ended up misinterpretting what people were saying and ended up thinking that it was just 2 organs (one of each) and found this out the hard way.

Just a FYI

If you traded a particular colored chip + armor piece, you selected the upgrade path and CANNOT back out/cancel until you finish. Be absolutely sure of what you're doing before you talk to Yurim.

Cancel quest?

Cancel?

Can this quest be canceled?
I started the quest for the light gorget, and I already traded in the chip and gorget. But then I found out that I can't use the gorget, and now I really want to get some of the obis for my BLM.
I could actually solo the obis, too. If finishing the light gorget quest is the only way for me to start an obi quest, I need to kill yovras. ; ;
about the rewards
# Sep 16 2005 at 8:23 AM Rating: Decent
you can get as many of them as you can farm... but lemme say this, the drop rates on some of the organs sux, the luminian tissue drop rate is horrible sometimes.. i've gotten it in my first kill, gotten 3 in one night, and then there been weeks where i dont get one (only playing like 4 hours a night now due to work) my friend said its around 1/75 on tissue =/ hope this helps a little bit.

The only thing that these have in common is the use of the various colored chips and their dependency to the correct weather. Other than that, there doesn't seem to be any relationship.

And if you haven't read from the other forum, the passwords for the Strange Apparatuses have been solved. I have Doctor status and it doesn't seem to affect my Obi's..
Multiple Rewards?
# Jul 18 2005 at 9:52 AM Rating: Decent
Is it possible to get 2+ or even all of the rewards for this quest, as in is the quest repeatable? I'm a Blacks Mage so I'd love to get all of the Obi's for Elemental Damage.

Yes, the "In the Name of Science" quest is repeatable. You can get all 8 Obi's, 8 Gorgets and both earrings.

A Blm75 friend of mine got Al'Taieu access and within 24 hours, we got him his Rairin and Hyorin Obi's.

Getting Gorgets may be a bit tougher since you need to kill yovra's... which require 5+ people to kill.

Until more people add to this thread, so far, the best description I've seen for this quest has been at Somepage

This link has all the details you need.
