Summary

Luto wants you to find out if the person you chose from her list is holding a certain mirror.

Walkthrough

You need to be at least Rank 4 to do this quest.

Part 01 of The Fellowship Quest

Speak to Luto Mewrilah in Upper Jeuno to start the quest. She will ask you to assist her with some research on magic mirrors. She will then have you pick a name from a list that she has. Depending on which NPC you pick to investigate determines which race and gender you NPC is going to be.

Next speak to the following NPCs to determine your adventuring fellow's characteristics:

After speaking to the above NPCs, you will need to speak to Bheem at the zone to Batallia Downs in Upper Jeuno. Once your done with the cutscene speak to Luto Mewrilah again to get the final cutscene for this quest. If you have enough fame to start the next quest you will need to zone out and back in to Upper Jeuno to be able to get the next quest.

I'm sorry, I know this is probably a dumb question but what is the NPC for?
Misinformation

**************************

Theres a key word wrong in Alla's description of this quest. You cannot talk to any of the three stylist NPCs, you have to talk to ALL of them. They each verify a certain detail for your future fellow. Once ALL stylist NPCs are talked to, then you can proceed to Bheem.

Good Luck :)

Requirements and Rewards

Easy run-around quest.

Was offered it at Rank 4, Level 47, and Fame enough for L1 Gobbie bag but not L2 Gobbie Bag.

Rewarded with a silver ingot.

Ok...what is the real minimum lvl/rank/etc needed to get this quest. I've already done it (soloed it in my lower 30ities) but trying to help a friend get it (in her 20's) and Luto won't give her the quest. This site says min lvl 1, the two links other people provided to other sites either say that min lvl must be 30 or must have Rank 4. Personally I think it might just be fame, since she just barely has enough fame to get the gobbie bag quests. Any ideas on what the real requirements are.

From my understanding from everyone that I know that has got their NPC's before the requirement is Rank 4 or 5. But by Rank 4 you should at least have a character over 30 anyways, so the level shouldn't be that big of a problem. As far as fame(if you're concerned about it), just have your friend trade a few stacks of corn to the NPC in Selbina to get a little fame built up. Everytime I would do a Goobie Bag quest I'd trade a few stacks of corn to him, and it would do wonders for my fame in Jeuno, as I was always able to go back to Jeuno and do the next Goobie Bag quest right after I had just finished it.

I seriously doubt level has anything to do with it though, as no one I know who got it said anything about level requirements, whatsoever.

Wow..this post is so incredibly vague. For more information, go to this website: http://ffxi.cannotlinkto/questdb/284 . It will tell you more about the hair types and face types of your NPCs. It even gives you a link to where you can do your own character model to test it out first. I found it WAY more helpful because I'm so picky about things like that, haha! Good luck!

i just completed this quest. it was fairly easy to be honest. i was unaware that it was the NPC quest, so i originally chose a Ghalka because i figured theyd be real easy to spot in a big crowd since originally youre supposed to find someone. skippin ahead, when i fought the skeleton guy named Namorodo, i used my 2hr and barely beat him. im a lvl 36war/18mnk and he just kept castin paralysis and sleep. think i got outta there with 50-somethin HP. used Selbina Milk while fightin too, so... oh also, there are these things called Gazers that are around the ??? spawn area too. well, 1 for sure. what i did was i pulled it away from the area with my ranged, then zoned so it would dissapear. now you gotta hope that when it respawns, it spawns away from the ??? area, otherwise itll just kill your NPC, like it did mine. anyways, i left there with roughly 57hp, and i hada heal before runnin back to Jeuno. gobs and tigers still aggro me at this level, so... ok, went to sandy and fought the dragon. used the 2hr again, this time right away, because of all this "lvl 40 cap" talk, and i figure, you know, its a dragon. the dragon, imo, was WAY easier than the skeleton guy. i dont think i even hada use my 2 hr. out of 757 total HP, i came outta there with 537... roughly just a quarter of my HP gone. after this, went back to Jeuno, and got myself a new friend. :) contemplated keepin the Ghalka since theyre strong and all, but i decided to do the quest over again to get myself a hott lil Mithra ;)

final note, in regards to which NPC is stronger, on my second time around in gettin my lil hottie, i compared the damage between the Ghalka and the Mithra on the Skeleton Guy, Namorodo or whatever his name is, and they both consistantly gave him between 15-20 pts damage, fyi. im about to fight the drag again, so if i notice somethin new, ill repost. otherwise, even though its a small sample size (2 tries), i hypothesize that each NPC chosen is similar, if not equal in strength. have fun :)

ok, just beat the dragon again with my 36war/18mnk. took 3min, 14 seconds. used my 2hr again, honestly because i hardly use it otherwise, and i ended up with 529/757 hp. didnt use any Selbina Milk or anythin like that. seemed like the drag missed me a bit too, but that coulda been due to my dodge ability and my good ol Empress Hairpin ;) all in all, a fun quest and probably simpler if youre a higher lvl.

recommendation: bring somethin that can remove paralysis for both the skeleton guy and the drag, since they both cast it, unless of course you can remove it on your own.

**side note** i noticed that my newly acquired Mithran hottie was only doin btwn 15-19 damage mostly on the drag. i dont remember what my Ghalka did the first time around on the dragon, so i cant confirm totally the similarities in combat. but in regards to fightin the skeleton guy Namorodo, i do remember checking on purpose in order to compare the two, so that had some correlation, but remember, that doesnt necessarily mean causation. also wanted to mention, if your NPC gets killed by the skeleton guy, you can just rezone right away and begin the fight again without penalty. not sure about the drag though. latalata.

I didnt know I could start this quest over^^ Yayness!! I love the look of my NPC but I dont much like his attitude .. His name is Chandidit and he says" your here, im here ,lets get started" hes not fun at all. If I try to talk to him he says something like "we should stay quiet because we will be heard by the beastmen" (not the exact words but he gets his point across)
Im gonna start the quest over ^^ yay

Research and trial and error have shown me how to select the character look you want.

The possible combinations are in the following table (if I can get it to line up right.)

The references are to the POL character selection face numbers and hair color letters (A or B) To see them, check out the POL selector at:
    Caracter Creation Trial

    Race/Sex Face Jeuno NPC Message

Face 1 Red Ghost guy with hair parted

Face 4 Red Ghost guy with tied-back hair

    Tarutaru
Female Face 2 Akta lady with neatly trimmed bangs
Face 4 Kuah Dakonsa straight bangs
Face 1 Red Ghost girl with hair parted

Mithra Face 5 Akta Mithra with her hair tied
Face 6 Kuah Dakonsa parted bangs
Face 7 Red Ghost girl with tied-back hair

Galka Face 3 Akta Galka with swept-back hair
Face 7 Kuah Dakonsa hair standing up
Face 6 Red Ghost guy with a full beard

Talk to the NPC shown for the face type you want, and say yes or no to the three choices when given.

Then you go visit Bheem in Upper Jeuno (across from the homepoint) and he will confirm what you have so far and then ask if that character has his favorite hair color. Answer "Could be." and you will get color option A (as shown in the Character Creation Trial on POL, above). Answer "Not Likely" and you get color option B. You then get a cut scene showing the NPC you have selected. Go back to Luto Mewrilah to lock it in and finish this quest. (Zone and return to get the second part quest assigned.)

Hey there.. you need higher fame and Rank 4..

To put your fame up, the easiest way is to go to AH and get 6-15 stacks of Boyahda Moss and trade it in one by one to the NPC in Selbina who owns the two sheep I forgot his name..

Then go to Mendi in Lower Jeuno.. If your fame is high enough he will know your name.. if you are Rank 4 you should now be able to start this quest..

    Hope that helped..

This quest is not as hard as is looks to be. I just soloed it as a 51DRK. I used 25RDM as subjob for buffs and cureII just in case I needed it for the NM battles. To my surprise, I hardly got a scratch from the skeleton as my NPC was taking all the hate. This battle took me about 1-2 minutes. As for the Carrion Dragon, it took me all of 4 minutes to kill it. After about 5 hits (which took the dragon to half HP), my NPC jumped in and we killed it in about 30 seconds. Needless to say, I had fun soloing this quest and any lvl 50+ melee job should have no problem doing the same. Just remember to be at least rank 4. Good luck to all you fellow adventurers!!
