Description

After your Club skill is 230+ go talk to Kuroido-Moido and he will give you a Club of Trials and a key item.

Like all of the other Weaponskill quests you have 300 points you need to get from doing weaponskills. The weaponskills must be on easy prey mobs or better.

Solo-WS or opening any level SC: 1 pt.

Close LVL1 SC: 2 pt.

Close LVL2 SC: 3 pt.

Close LVL3 SC: 5 pt.

- Total Needed: 300 pt.

-

After you are finished, talk to Kuroido-Moido again and he will give you the Map to the Annals of Truth (Key Item). You are to then go into Ro'Maeve and spawn the NM, Eldhrimnir.

After you defeat Eldhrimnir then examine the ??? again to get the key item Annals of Truth. Then go back to Kuroido-Moido to learn Black Halo.

Can you get these WS points in Campaign? That would make things much easier.
Just duo'd

Just duo'd with MNK/NIN and RDM/WHM based on suggestion below.

Might have been easier on THF/NIN. THF would have done less damage, and thus a longer fight, but I have a good evasion build on THF and it might have made blink tanking more effective. Even with Blind II, evasion merits, boxer mantle, scorp harness, op hat, elusive earrings, and temple gaiters +1, the NM had 80% accuracy on me and shadows were difficult to keep up.

Opened with hundred fist which took it down about 20%. RDM kept Blind II, paralyze II, slow II, gravity, and silence on it and spammed cures as needed. About 40% left RDM converted. At this point paralyze, blind, and silence were starting to get resisted. WS's were doing around 700-ish dmg without attack food and all evasion gear.

NM got off 2 thundaga III's. First one TP wasn't up so shoulder tackle didn;t go off in time. 2nd time was right after WS. Slept me once right as I popped dodge for the 2nd time.

RDM ran out of MP in last 10% and had to sit. NM died before she ever had to get up. HP never got below orange, lowest was about 500 hp after a thundaga III. Never chakra'd either (I never rememeber to use it). Dodge did seem to help while it was up.

Fight wasn't a push-over, but the weapons we cleared before pulling to the alley did more dmg and drained more mp in the minute it took to kill them than half the NM fight.

I did great killing this NM with NIN NIN WHM BLM (all 75)

FYI
Yay me!

Pop spot: Ro'Maeve L/M-8
Team: Tension= 75Nin; Saintus=75Mnk; Jenichiwa=70Rdm; Westsida=60 Mnk; Candi(me)=75Whm (Quetzalcoatl server)
Strategy: [Preperation](After a bad link and death...(clears throat), pulled Weapons to camp M-10(nothing over there).
Strategy:[NM Battle] Rdm silenced, dispeled and other enfeebs, Whm cured and hasted, Nin tanked, Mnks hit... (lol)
Result: Black Halo= Mine.

Summary: The NM is definately much easier to deal with than even the Weapons. As long as it was sileced and dispeled there was no problem at all to beat it down. I tried Dark Halo as soon as I finished the quest. I was not too impressed with the graphics, but it does alot of damage :)

Yay, Im so happy. Thanks team!
Perfect timing.

I used the club till the latent effect was gone. Went to trade, but I ending up not getting the map, instead I was getting the cs to get club of trials again. Any Suggestion?

From what I've read you're screwed and have to do it over again >.<

Do you have to defeat the mob with an ending weaponskill or can the ws just be used in battle?

You don't have to defeat the with a WS, just use it as in a normal party. If soloed/duoed, you'll end up getting 2-4 weapon skills per fight.

I've done this WSNM before with a 70+ party before np. PLD, WAR, RNG, WHM, BLM, RDM (me)

Did it again last night with just 3 L75s. WAR/NIN, WHM/SMN and me on RDM/DRK. WHM Sneak-carby pulled.

It was rough. The WAR's Rampage damage was less than usual, and it was quickly going through his shadows even with Slow, Blind and Gravity on. Long fight and I pretty much just kept up debuffs and had my finger on the Stun button, which came in handy when Silence wore off and it started casting Thundaga III.

We got it done in the end, though, and the WHM now has Black Halo^^
NIN tank makes this easy

Pretty easy fight if you have a NIN tank, a Bard, a BLM or DRK for Stun, and a WHM or RDM for backup healing

Did this as:
75NIN
75BLM(me)
75BRD
70WHM

The NIN tanked it all, cast shadows when needed, and did almost all of the damage. The Bard kept Mambo up on the NIN and Ballad on the mages. I used Stun when the mob was casting -ga spells or when the NIN's shadows dropped. It does hit fairly hard so make sure the WHM is prepared. In addition to that also keep the NIN hastened to reduce Utsusemi's recast time. Fight took about 15 mins since the NIN was doing all the damage. After we killed it the BRD and I sneaked up, checked the ??? again, got the key item, headed to Windy, and (ding!) shiny new weaponskill. I wonder how many BLMs out there both have Black Halo and Retribution?

While the top poster states this isn't so hard of a NM, please don't underestimate it. We arrived to Ro'Moeve with the following setup:

75 WAR/NIN <--me
73 WHM/BLM
75 WHM/SMN
73 BLM/WHM
75 DRK/THF
75 THF/NIN

Decent setup, and I'm glad each job was there. We all served real purposes, and not sure we'd have made it if even 1 of us didn't come.

At any rate, the ??? is surrounded by Weapons and a Doll. The Weapons are NOT easy prey like at the entrance. They are VT to level 75. I made the mistake to voke the first one i saw so we could clear out the area. Do not do that. Continue south to the tunnel where there is no agro, and systematically take out the Doll and a few Weapons. You only need to kill a few Weapons to clear a path to the ???. At that point, have the WHM or whoever spawn the NM and have a voker pull him back to the tunnel.

Really do recommend having x2 Stunners in your party. Casted Firaga3 roughly 4-5 times, and Flood 2 times. I believe Stun is a 1 minute timer? Also need the 2nd WHM in the party if you don't have a NIN tank. As a WAR/NIN, my evasion just wasn't where it should be. However, having the THF with us I never lost hate control.

After the fight was over, our THF simply aggroed the remaining mobs and Fleed to Hall of Gods. This left the WHM with a clear path to the ???. Note to self, the Weapons will respawn quickly after death of being trained.

This can be done with either a WAR, PLD or NIN tank. If using a PLD or WAR, bring 2 main healers.

Hope this all helps. Thanks to:

As stated in all other WSNM threads
Open lvl 1 SC = 1
Close lvl 1 SC = 2

Open lvl 2 SC = 2
Close lvl 2 SC = 3

Open lvl 3 SC = 3
Close lvl 3 SC = 5

And since i for sure did not do 100 closings on a lvl 3 SC, i can confirm the 5 too. What i can not confirm is the numbers on the openings, there is a rumor that opening gives you just one point on any skillchain (which sounds logical to me), which would result in:

Open lvl 1, 2, 3 SC = 1
Close lvl 1 SC = 2
Close lvl 2 SC = 3
Close lvl 3 SC = 5

Cheers
Gisselle

I guess not too many mages bother to get this, which is a shame, but it's nice to see this quest finally up. Black Halo isnt as great as Hexa Strike for WHM but for other job's such as blm or pld who want to use club, this WS is an opener for light.

So for those of you WHM out there who need to remove latent my advice is find a buddy who has Black Halo and do Black Halo> Hexa Strike: Light. You get max points for closing light that way.

As for the NM, it's fairly easy. Clear the area before popping and thats really all you need to know lol. The area you fight in is off in a corner so you can pull the NM into the dead end hallway to fight if you fear the local fauna will repop before you're done. The NM is a pot that has a ton of HP and likes to cast big spells. Bring a heavy duty DD with you and you will hurt it badly. For my fight we had 2 WHM75s, 1 War/nin 75, 1 brd 75 and a rng 75. Couldn't have been easier.

and dont underestimate the power of a Whm with an Icarus Wing /grin ... Black Halo + Hexa Strike = Light... not sure if alot of jobs can do a Light chain all by themselves... beside Sam (and it's with a 3 ws chain)

Now think of that.. WHM75/SAM with Mjollnir.. Black Halo > (Meditate) Hexa Strike > LIGHT > (Icarus Wing) Randgrith > LIGHT

But who would be mad enough to upgrade a Relic Club for a WHM DD... */em Run to Dynamis againy-wainy*

From my understanding (and slight experience), you cannot do a:
Light >> Light SC

But you can do a:
Light > Darkness SC

And vice versa.

You can extend a light skillchain to another light IF you use the Relic Weaponskill.

So yeah...you can do what was mentioned before your post

Meditate doesn't give 100% tp anymore when subbed.
