In-Game Text

Description

You have been asked to expel the black-robed intruders lurking around Monarch Linn. Basically, this is a rematch fight vs the Mammets. The battle is in Monarch Linn, so you'll need to go through Riverne Site #A-01 or #B-01 to access it. Once you accept the quest you're given the key item, Monarch Linn Patrol Permit. This works like most ENM key items. It will shatter once you select to enter the battle. The number of Mammets you have to fight is based on the number of people in your party.

  • 1 Person = 1 Mammet
  • 6 Person = 3 Mammet
  • 12 Person = 6 Mammet
  • 18 Person = 9 Mammet
One Mammet will load at first, and multiply after attacked based on your party size. It's been confirmed that two people will load only one Mammet. The Mammets seem to be just a buffed up version of their level 40 self from 2-5. Same jobs, and Yellow Liquid does seem to work. Their Melee forms seem to have incredible accuracy. This is an uncapped BCNM. It's important to note that it's not an ENM, because you will lose EXP if you die.

The rewards

They seem to vary greatly for this one, and no official list has been compiled (until now) but here is what I've found so far, based on what people who've won said:

  • Miratete's Memoirs
  • Oversized Fang
  • Aluminum Ore
  • Mushroom Risotto
  • Armoire
  • 10k gil (for 1st time completion?)
Repeatable either every 5 days, or Weekly conquest tally.

Why even wait for him to pull out a weapon? Just use a yellow liquid ASAP so that he's just shooting out those weak lasers. The lasers make the polearm look powerful. I duo'd this with a WHM friend as MNK/WAR. With counterstance up, I only got hit once. The WHM only had to cast haste and regen III on me. I'd probably try it more solo if the rewards didn't suck so bad.

I, as some ppl before me, do this every week duo.
My friend is a PLD75/NIN and I come as RDM75. It works very well.

I would have to say that the Sword hits harder then the DRG, And faster.
My job is just to heal and enfeeble, and I can rest pretty much when i'm done with enfeebs. But when it comes to sword, I will have to stand up and watch my friends HP carefully.

Easy fight. Sword can get painfull. Keep it at DRG. Also drops Habu Skin.

Easily duo'd with 2 SMN75 (I do the ENM with 2 SMN too)... I don't know about soloing since the mammet hits hard (I took 180 dmg thru Earthen Ward with 290+ summoning skills)

In any case, we simply buff and let Fenrir do the work. Just stay out of range so you won't get hit with his -aga or AoE.

Only problem is when he puts up Transfiguration (Physical Shield). We would kite until shield is down to finish.

Out of the 4 runs so far. 4/4 Exp. Scroll. Free exp can't hurt.

My gf and I do this weekly for the hell of it since it is pretty easy. I am 75 THF/NIN in evasion build, she is 75 WHM/SMN. I bring along a yellow liquid or two to stick the mammet in DRG mode when I can. The fight is really easy as long as you don't get owned by aga's. For this reason I would not recommend going as a melee solo unless you have some way to heal yourself. They aren't a joke when they hit you without shadows. Take care as the DRG hits the slowest, but probably hits the hardest.

Anyway, drops suck generally. We've gotten Tigereye, aluminum ore, and 6 Miratete's Memoirs. Its not a treasure chest, you get your reward from Justinius after. Each person gets their own reward. The Memoirs are by far the most common drop. One person mentioned expecting better drops from 18 ppl rather than 2, and I would have to disagree just cause like I said, each person gets their own reward.

I should add, their accuracy is surprisingly high. I had 295 skill and about +30 evasion on and they still hit my shadows about 50%.

has anyone done this regularly with a full 18man alliance vs 9 mobs? i personally cant imagine Assault Breastplate dropping from the 2man vs 1 mob fights, but can definitely see it dropping after doing the 18man fight...

Yep its pretty soloable. Took me two tries tho. The trick is to have yellow liquid to keep it on dragoon form if i rememebr. On my first run it went to warrior and had an insane attack speed with perfect accuracy hitting for 150 dmg to me fully buffed. I'm a moron is the way to go on this.

Inventory Glitch
# Sep 02 2006 at 10:03 AM Rating: Good
I was told a while ago that there was a rumored inventory glitch where you could sort everything and zone out and basically screen what your reward would be, it is strictly a rumor, it does not work. I did this on friday as Pld/War and my friend came along as Blm/Rdm. Extremely easy fight. We both buffed up and entered the circle. I used an Opo Opo necklace and slept to 300 TP. Ran in flashed, Invincibled, and hit it with a 900+ Spirit's Within. From then on I kited the mammet while the Blm kept it constantly Dot'ed. Took about 16 minutes total, I know there are faster ways, but this worked.

If it ain't broke don't fix it Smiley: grin

Two Mammets spawn with three people.
I'm pretty sure the ratio of Mammets to players is 1:2

I submitted this info...guess I forgot to throw my game name in there :P

It is completely doable with 2 people though. I do it with my 73 rdm and my g/f's 73 mnk.

*edit* woops, yeah, typo lol.

I can confirm that 2 mobs spawn from 3 play characters entering. Best to enter with a even number of players to maximize your advantage.
