Description

To everything there is a season, and the time to tell that special someone how you feel is drawing near. Valentione's Day will soon be upon Vana'diel once again!

Valentione's Day commemorates the story of a courageous squire named Valentione, who fell in love with a noblewoman regardless of their gap in social status. He confessed his love in the form of a gift, and succeeded in stealing her heart.

On Valentione's Day, the inhabitants of Vana'diel show their feelings by giving the person they care about a present, such as chocolate.

Still, it can be hard to confess to someone... Someone you are so used to seeing... Someone you always enjoy conversing with... Someone you always adventure with... That's why that person is special, right? But it takes a lot of courage to take it to the next level!

And that's where the moogles come in to help! They have devised a plan to bring eligible bachelors and bachelorettes of the three major nations together. Not only that, but they even claim that their fantabulous, splenderrific event (the moogle head planner's exact words) will help adventurers come together, too!

If you've ever wanted to try your hand at playing Cupid, you will get your chance soon!

One last word from the Mog House Management Union (M.H.M.U.): "We're waiting for you all with wonderful prizes that will let you show your love forever and ever, kupo!"

Details This event is scheduled to commence on February 2, 2006 at 16:00, and will last until February 15, 2006 at 0:00 (PST).

Moogle: Love is in the air! It's time for Valentione's Day celebrations, kupo! There is a type of chocolate that embodies emotions, kupo! Young men and women in this town have broken their chocolates in two, hoping to meet that "special someone"! All we need to do now is search for another piece that perfectly fits the broken chocolate! Here's what you should do, kupo: Take a piece of chocolate from a Valentione single, and exchange it with a complimentary piece held by another adventurer! You'll be helping each other find a perfect match! Don't forget who you got your chocolate from! Try to do too many things at once, and you'll end up confused and lost, kupo! So try to team up and hand chocolates to a moogle one pair at a time, kupo~ We moogles can take your lonely pieces and make them into one whole, complete chocolate! Then all you have to do is return the finished chocolate to the person who gave you the original piece. The rich taste is sure to lead them to their perfect partner! Four people hold the chocolates you seek. After you've returned a whole chocolate to each one, return to a moogle, kupo! While exchanging chocolates with everyone, maybe you'll meet someone who puts a special sparkle in your eye, too. Kupohoho~!

I noticed there's 2 additional moogles near the other event moogle now as well.. used to be only 1 (at least that I noticed)..

Other says "Wear your wand and spread happiness bla bla" and the other says "Well matched pair brings happiness to all"... any idea if they give something under some conditions or if they just like to talk :p

charm wand and +1
# Feb 07 2006 at 5:38 PM Rating: Decent
Whats the main difference between the charm wand and the charm wand + 1.

Whats the point of the plus one if it only has one charge and it takes 5 days to be able to be used again. Can the regular charm wand be recharged?
RE: charm wand and +1

It doesn't have 1 charge it has an infinte number of charges. I don't know why they put 1/1 rather than an infinity symbol or just leave it blank, but its the same way with the dream hat +1 too.

This quest is repeatable. Just get rid of the chocolate and tell the moogle you quit. If you can't try again right away, wait for the next day (game time).

You shouldn't have any trouble trying the quest in a different city. I didn't.

Start and Finish in the same day
# Feb 07 2006 at 3:42 AM Rating: Decent
We did the quest in party and got our Wand. Got the quest just before midnight game time. The moogle let us go again AND we got a prize. I goofed and mixed up 2 halves so we only got a secondary prize the second time.

We waited until midnight again to try for our +1 Wands .. we got all the pieces correct. Moogle said it that it got alot of good feedback but no prize this time.

We did have our Charm Wands equipped. The only thing I can think of is that we did to many tries close together even though it was spaced over 3 different days. One did strectch into the next day. Guess it best to start and finish in the same day but as close to midnight the first night as possible.

Good Luck it is really fun :)
The Charm Wand kinda looks like candy, don't it?^^

Hello everyone, I'm writing this in the hopes that it'll save you some time and frustration. ^^ ok on to how get the wands. So how do I get these wands you ask? :O Ok before we begin you're gonna need a few things first. I highly recommend doing this because its just easier. Here is what you need (not required though):
1. Paper
2. Pen/Pencil
3. Widescan (if you have ranger job available)
4. Patience :P
H'okay now you are ready to go. Pick a town to go i.e. Bastok, Sandy, or Windy. I did Bastok because Bastok rules w00t \m/(>_<). Hehe anyways, once inside a town look for a Moogle to talk to. Moogles can be found in the following zones:

Bastok Markets, Bastok Mines, North Sandy, South Sandy, Windy Waters, Windy Woods.

I cannot remember the exact locations on the maps but if you cannot find the Moogle then you are probably beyond my help ^^;. Now go up to that Moogle and he'll give you a story on how there are a bunch of desperate singles out looking for lovin' and all that icky stuff. He'll go onto say that there are 4 types of people out there that need your help to find love. So off you go now to find 4 NPCs (Valentione Single) that need your help. Now this part will differ a little if you are girl or a boy. If you are a girl you will need to find a Mithra NPC (Valentione Single), Elvaan girl NPC, Hume girl NPC, and a Tarutaru girl NPC. If you are a boy, then you need to find a Galka (Valentione Single) NPC, Elvaan boy NPC, Hume boy NPC, and a Tarutaru boy NPC. If you ranger use your Widescan job ability to make finding them easier. PLEASE NOTE: All the Valentione Singles will be in the same zone that the Moogles are in, so don't look in zones that don't have Moogles in them. Ok, now once you boys and girls have located a Valentione Single, equip that Pen and Paper ^^ because you're gonna need to write stuff down. The NPC Valentione Single you talk to will say how they're looking for a "insert type here" type of the opposite sex. For example a Galka NPC might say he wants a shy Mithra blah blah blah and he'll hand you a Left and Right piece of Romance Chocolate. Just note the type of race the NPC wants and what type they give you THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT DON'T FORGET IT. If you are trying to help someone else out too, then note what kind of personality the NPC you talk to is. For example sometimes a Tarutaru NPC acts shy so that is their personality type. Now after you've talked to all 4 NPCs (and hopefully wrote down the type of personality they want and what type of the race they're looking for), you should have 4 left pieces of chocolate and 4 right pieces of chocolate. The 4 different types are: Amour Chocolate, Romance Chocolate, Attraction Chocolate, and Desire Chocolate. I think its the right half of the chocolate that is tradeable but I'm not sure, it is whichever half that is not Rare/Ex. Now comes the fun/annoying part x_x. You need to trade an adventurer of the opposite sex the chocolate pieces you need corresponding to the type you want. If you need Charm Wand +1 skip ahead, if not keep reading on.

Charm Wand (x10 charges only, 24 hours to recharge, castable only on party members):

I'm about 90% sure this works but to get the Charm Wand all you need to do is just get 4 pieces of chocolate from other players of the opposite sex. I don't believe matching the different chocolate pieces is an issue here. Just make sure they're the same type and it should work. If anyone can back me up on this please do because I've only done with 3 people and it worked all 3 times. So if you're a dude, trade your 4 pieces of chocolate (i.e galka, elvaan M, hume M, and Tarutaru M) for 4 pieces of chocolate from a chick (i.e mithra, elvaan F, hume F, and Tarutaru F). Once you have recieved the other half of chocolate from a player from the opposite sex, go back to the moogle. Trade him both halves of the same chocolate and he'll make it whole again and say good job or something. Once he gives you a whole heart of chocolate, make sure you trade the heart back to the correct NPC Valentione Single (use the notes on your paper :P). If you give the whole chocolate to the wrong NPC they won't accept it. After you have traded all 4 pieces to the NPC Valentione Singles, go back to the Moogle who should say you've done an Excellent job. He'll then let you select a prize from a list of items. <_< you had better pick the Charm Wand. :P Congratulations you just got your Charm Wand. If you want the Charm Wand +1 read on.

Charm Wand +1 (Infinite Charges, 5 days to recharge, castable only on party members):

Alrighty, so now you want the +1 eh? Well for starters you cannot get this wand until you have the regular Charm Wand (see above). To get this +1 wand you pretty much have to do the same thing for the regular wand. But, this time around you have to make sure that the people you trade chocolates with ALSO have their Charm Wands equipped when you trade with them. If they don't have a Charm Wand then forget getting a +1 ;_;. You also need to make sure you match up the correct personality type and race type that the NPCs want. For example, if your Mithra wants a shy Galka, try to get a piece of chocolate from someone that got it from a shy Galka. Once you get all of this done and trade back all the whole pieces of hearts back to the NPCs the Moogle will let you choose the + 1. Congratulations!! ^^d

Signed Charm Wands:

Well if you read this far you may be thinking, oh Mr. Dekumage you forgot how to include how to get someone else's name on the wands. O.O well I indeed haven't forgotten that part because I'm putting it here. Now, there has been some speculation as to how you get another person's name on the wand. First of all, the other person need to have their character of the opposite sex, and they need to be in your Party. You do not necessarily have to be the one who actually trades them all the chocolates to help them get their name on the wands. How do I know this you may ask? Well I helped a girl get all her chocolates and she got her boyfriend's name on her wand because they were in the same party together and I was off in another party. Now I'm not entirely sure if both players in the party need to flag this moogle event but I would wager that they both need to. I also suggest not having any other players in your Party if you are trying to get someone else's name on the wand, duh :P.

So there you have it, now of course everything I have written may not be entirely 100% accurate but I'm pretty sure it is. I'll go back and change something in here if I found it was wrong or if there is a better way to do it. If you see something wrong or found a better way of doing a certain part, please say why. Any information or insight you can give will help people get this done. And the sooner they get it done means less people shouting, which means you can actually read your Chat Log and people can go back to being all lovey-dovey with their wands. :P

Adios & Good Luck

P.S. I got my Charm Wand and Charm Wand +1 in Bastok so you don't have to go to another city.

I pulled this from a Japanese website..

Sometimes the "personality" of the NPC will affect the rating! Make sure you note what "personality" the NPC wants, and also how they talk (because that's the only way to figure out YOUR NPC's personality).

Male: Honest/Cool/Shy/Cheerful
Female: Shy/Cheerful/Kind/Introvert
(This is not a perfect trans of the personalities, so sorry for this)

Ok, let me clarify all things about this quest:

First, you need a partner of the opposite sex for the best results. Once you have that, the rest is easy.

First talk to the moogle to start the quest. The quest can only be done once per Vana'Diel day.

Then visit each of the Valentione Single NPCs of your sex (male characters and Galka for males, female characters and Mithra for females) around in the town you and your partner choose. Make sure to write down what race wants to partner with what race.

Now, once you have all 4 chocolate halves, return to the moogle.

Now, as far as I have seen, the races always give the same type of chocolate:

Amour - Hume
Romance - Elvaan
Desire - Tarutaru
Affection - Mithra/Galka

To get excellent every time (The moogle will say "Excellent" during the conversation), trade the moogle the right half of whatever the left half wanted.

Example:

You are a male. You get the Hume male's chocolate heats, and he wants to find a mithra. Trade to your partner the right Hume half for their mithra right half. Now trade the hume left half and the mithra right half to the moogle.

The moogle will give you a full heart. Return to the race that gave it to you (see chart above). Repeat this for all the races/singles in a town. Then return to the moogle to be given a list of prizes to choose from.

The first Excellent you get (all four correctly blended and traded), you get a Charm Wand.

A Charm wand is a Rare/Ex wand, level 1, equipable on all jobs. Enchantment: Reraise on party member (Cannot target self). 10 charges, 24 hour recharge.

Now repeat this process at least twice more with Excellent score. I also suggest wearing the Charm wand, if for no other reason than it is fairly fashionable as weapons go... This should give you the ability to choose a +1 wand.

The +1 is a 1/1 (unlimited) but with a 120 minute recharge on the same effect.

The added bonus is that if you complete all this with the same partner, the wands are signed with your partner's name.

Other prizes include signature crystals, a potion (I have it but I have not used it), chocobo tickets and chocopasses.

Have fun out there ^.^/

The Charm Wand +1 does the same thing as Charm Wand but instead of being used 10 times and then expiring , Charm Wand +1 has unlimited uses but has a recharge period of 120 hours.

And as for the Romance Potion, it only cures you like any other potion. How much HP? I do not know. I had 100% when I used it.

You get graded as a "team" with your partner. You get 4 r/e pieces and 4 tradeable pieces.

If all 8 pieces end up where they're "wanted", you get Excellent. If 4 or less end up right, you get "decent". If 5-7 get right, you get "good".

The trick is, find a partner of the opposite sex to do the *whole* event with, and just work with that person and no one else, and you'll be almost guaranteed the NQ and the +1 easily.

(note, I have the NQ and the +1 on my main and on my mule, and the NQ on my 2nd mule (gonna get the +1 tonight with a friend).

Guide to Valentione's Quest
# Feb 04 2006 at 8:02 AM Rating: Decent
So for those of you who are confused, a step-by-step guide. This is what I've figured out so far, with help from the posts so far and my own experiments:

1. Speak with a moogle.

2. Find all four "Valentione singles" in the city who are the same sex as you and obtain the eight pieces of broken chocolate. The singles aren't to hard to find: there are two of each sex in each district a moogle is in, and they are alwys outside. Make note of who the single asks for.

3. Trade the four right pieces with an adventurer of the opposite sex.

4. Trade left-right pairs to the moogle to get whole pieces of chocolate. DON'T match by name. The key is to match each of your singles to the member of the opposite sex that they wanted. So, if your Hume requested an Elvaan, match the left Hume peice with the right Elvaan piece. The name of the chocolate shows who gave it: Humes give "Amour", Elvaans give "Romance", Tarutarus give "Desire", and Galka/Mithra give "Attraction". So in this case you would match a left "Amour" with a right "Romance".

5. You will now have four whole chocolates, each named after the original left piece (the one from the same-sex single). Now go back to your same-sex singles and give them their completed chocolates. (Remember, "Amour" to Hume, etc.)

6. Talk to the moogle. You should have an "excellent" result and a chance at a wand.

The only thing I'm not quite sure of is whether the opposite-sex singles desires matter in the rating. If the female Hume wants a Galka, but the Galka wants a Mithra, does that drop your score? I don't think so, but I wouldn't rule it out just yet.

So far
# Feb 04 2006 at 7:44 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, so far I know this for sure...

1. You can get the Charm wand (regular, not the +1) on the first try ..IF.. you get excellent rating (get nothing in the mission wrong)

2. You can do this quest with 1 person of the opposite gender (counting galka as male and mithra as female) ..OR.. you can do it with mutiple ppl (also of the opposite gender)

3. If you do it with 1 person the wand will have that person's name on it, otherwise it won't have a name at all

4. You can get the HQ item "charm wand +1" after doing the quest 4 times with excellent rating (might be only 3 times but it's definitely more than 2) if you did the quest each time with the same person it will have their name if you didnt it wont have a name at all. To get the +1 you must have the regular charm wand equipped

5. Do NOT just match the name of the chocolate (i.e. dont just put the L and R "desire" pieces together) if for exaple you are female and the mithra says she wants a taru trade the chocolate that the mithra gave you (the rare/ex L piece) and the R taru piece you get from a male PC (which he would have gotten from a male taru)

I only got an Excellent rating twice and got my Charm Wand +1

First Time:
Decent. I got a Chocobo Pass.
(I didn't know what to do and just put the same name chocolates together).

Second Time:
Excellent. I got my Charm Wand.

Third Time:
Decent. I got a Chocobo Ticket
(Screwed up somewhere during it)

Fourth Time:
Excellent. I got my Charm Wand +1.

Fifth Time:
Decent. I got another Chocobo Pass
(Was just helping a friend get her Charm Wand +1 and screwed up my combinations along the way).

I'm not exactly sure what decides when you get a charm wand +1 (I did it 6 times, 5 of which were excellent). What I can tell you is you need to have the charm wand equipped in order to get the +1.

Easiest way and the way it's meant to be done I think is, that you select a person of different gender than your character to team up with. This, because it seems only the npcs of your gender will talk to you to request your help ^^; (I'm mithra and only girls requested me to get chocolates for them).

Also, if you do this with the same person from start to end, you'll get to choose the Wand as a prize, engraved with the name of the person you did it with :)

Awaiting on data about what you get if you do it with different people or not partied up at all.. no choice of wand or no name engraved?
works

I finished it, and YES you can trade all with one person. When you get all the pieces, go back to Moogle, and trade each piece to make whole. Trade L. Amour and R. Amour at same time to moogle and BAM you got a whole. Then do it again for the rest of them. Now take the wholes back where you got them.

Yes, trading the L.Amour and the R.Amour at the same time and you will get a whole chocolate, but you'll only get the charm wand if you get the correct combination!

Amour = Hume
Desire = Tarutaru
Attraction = Galka/Mithra
Romance = Elvaan

Say your Hume wants a Tarutaru Lover... you need to combine the L.Amour and R.Desire pieces (of the opposite sex), then you will be right, and the NPC will tell the mog you did Excellent. This is how you get the Wands.

I just finished this quest. I traded all four pieces to the same person. I ended up with decent results. I know I did it right but not sure if the other person traded to the right people. With decent results we got our pick of a hq crystal or a chocobo pass or a free chocobo ticket. I think i'm going to try it again with another person or maybe trade all four to four different people and see if i get any better results.

I think time is a factor. First time, me and my friend got all of them right and took forever to do it (I think he fell asleep partway through). The second time, we did it in about 15 minutes. I was told I could of stopped to get a prize after the third person (I didn't, but I was told by the npc I could go to the moogle). Got the charm wand that time, and the +1 the 2nd time. THe 2nd time, we took a bit longer (like 30 minutes). The last person was right near the moogle, so I got it quick and got my +1 wand, but my friends was the galka (we were in bastok), and he didn't get the wand, even though I'm pretty sure he did them all right.

I would love to do this quest indeed I would. However not being able to cast Reraise on yourself is kinda lame. Still I wonder what the love potion does. Anyone know? Anyone plan to even tell us!? Does it make a person of the opposite sex fall instantly in love with you!? Sorry for the spaz. With this event it just reminds me of how single life sucks after so long. *le sigh*. Those who plan to be retards and tell me to get a life, got one, so don't bother saying it.

I will confirm that you CAN just trade all four halves with the same person and match them up how you need. This makes the event go by alot faster than shouting each individual match. It will always work out that you have all four different races required each time, just keep track of who gave you what and who needs who.

Good luck

I am almost done with this... Been working forever on it and due to Sandy being a Sausage-fest, I can't find the women to trade with.
