Mission Orders

Gather information on San d'Oria and Windurst.
The Bastokan consulates in those two countries will provide you with a detailed briefing.

Walkthrough

Speak to any Bastokan Gate Guard to accept this mission. The Gate Guard will spend you to speak with Naji at (J-8) in the Metalworks, near the President's Office. A cutscene will play and they will escort you to President Karst. You will then be able to ask him questions about various topics and once you are done he will ask you to head to San d'Oria or Windurst.

Visit San d'Oria First

If you choose to visit the Bastok Consulate in San d'Orian first, head to (K-10) of Northern San d'Oria. Enter the Bastok Consulate and speak to Helaku. He will send you to speak with Halver in the Chateau d'Oraguille, north of the Bastok Consulate.

Halver will then send you to Ghelsba Outpost. To get there, take the northwestern exit of West Ronfaure. Once there, your task is to defeat Warchief Vatgit. The Warchief is at the top of Ghelsba Outpost (H-7). After defeating the Warchief, return to Northern San d'Oria to speak with Helaku again.

Helaku will now send you to the Bastok Consulate at (E-5) in Port Windurst. Once you arrive, speak to Melek, who represents the Bastok Consulate. Melek will send you to Heaven's Tower in Windurst Walls. In Heaven's Tower, you will need to speak to Kupipi to receive the Dark Key Key Item. After obtaining the Dark Key, travel to West Sarutabaruta, where you will find the entrance to the Giddeus. Once inside Giddeus, head to Balga's Dais. Here, you will face two monsters (see the The Emissary Spoilers page for more information).

Note:A full party of level 25s is suggested if this is your first time.

After defeating the monsters, return to Port Windurst and speak to Melek again. He will give you a Kindred report Key Item to take back to Bastok. Return to the Metalworks and speak to Naji again, who will reward you with 3000 gil and Rank 3.

Visit Windurst First

If you choose to visit the Bastok Consulate in Windurst first, head to (E-5) of Port Windurst. Speak to Melek, who will send you to Heaven's Tower in Windurst Walls. Once inside Heaven's Tower, speak to Kupipi. Kupipi will give you a Sword offering Key Item to give to the Yagudo as a peace tribute. Take the Magical Sword back to the Bastok Consulate in Port Windurst and speak with Gold Skull, a Galka, located in the 2nd room to your right. He will exchange the Sword offering for a Dull blade.

The offering to the Yagudo must be taken to the Treasure Room, which is located in the tunnels of Giddeus at (F-7). The Treasure Room is guarded by Uu Zhoumo, a Yagudo. Speak to Uu Zhoumo and he will tell you that you weapon is not a good enough offering, and that he'd rather have the blade used by Eyy Mon the Ironbreaker. Eyy Mon is a Notorious Monster that spawns at (G-7), not far from where you are. Eyy Mon will drop an Aspir Knife 100% of the time. Trade the knife to Eyy Mon to complete this part of the mission, then return to the Bsatok Consulate in Port Windurst and speak to Melek, who will send you to the Bastok Consulate in San d'Oria.

The Bastok Consulate is located at (K-10) of Northern San d'Oria. Speak to Helaku who will send you to speak with Halver in the Chateau d'Oraguille, which is seated north of the Bastok Consulate. Halver will tell you to head to the Yughott Grotto, deep within Ghelsba Outpost. Once inside the grotto, you must head to the Horlais Peak, where you will enter a Burning Circle fight against two monsters (see the The Emissary Spoilers page for more information).

Note: A full party of level 25 players is recommended if this is your first time doing this mission.

After defeating the monsters, return to Northern San d'Oria and speak to Helaku again. He will give you a Kindred report Key Item to take back to Bastok. Return to the Metalworks and speak to Naji again, who will reward you with 3000 gil and Rank 3.

I finished the first half of the mission [I did San d'Oria first] at level 16 with a group, and made it to Windthorst. The entire time I've been in Windthorst I havn't heard anyone asking who was working on that quest looking for a group. Here's a good question for those that have completed this quest:

Scenario - I make my way to the Burning Circle (Solo), enter the battlefield and see whatever cutscene happens. With this probably being a creature that I would need a party to take out, I get killed. When I get a party and am at a suitable level to take out the dragon, when we enter the circle will the cutscene(if there is any) repeat?
This Mission sucks

Man im just having a hard time with it. 1) Can't find the burning circle in the first place. 2) All the people i ask don't wanna help with the dragon. Some advice would sure be nice.

Kastayon Im on that mission right now. I have Completed Sandy and all you have to do is go talk to the consulate in the region that you are currently in. So if you're in Windy talk to the Bastok Consulate in WINDY and then move to Sandy...Don't return to Bastok
Frustration
# Jun 25 2004 at 11:29 PM Rating: Decent
I dont really like this mission very much at all. I have been trying to get together a party to fight the San Dorian dragon for about a week now, but no one seems to be doing that part of the quest. Most people seem to do the Windurstian dragon first, for one reason or another, and it is quite frustrating to find no one that would like to help
If there is anyone on Bahamut that wants to help me, that'd be really cool

Just to save me a trip, can somebody tell me if after I have completed the Windurst part of this mission, do I have to return to the Bastok council in Bastok to advance the mission and allow me to move on to Sand'oria to fight the dragon, or can I simply head STRAIGHT from Windy to Sandy after i've completed 1/2 of the mission?

Did this mission last night. Pretty fun fight. We did it with 3 people, 25 War/15 Rng, 25 War/15 Rng and 25 Whm/15 Thf. Whm silenced Searcher, one war voked the dragon and tanked it while I went to town on searcher. Was pretty easy and I was the only one that had to use my 2hr to help kill the dragon after I finished Searcher. Dragon was only about 1/3 hp by the time I got to it. Only food used was mithkabobs.

Both of us War had lvl 24 Spear so we were doing the best dmg we could at lvl 25. I think a lot of people have trouble with this because they don't have the best weapon for the job. We were taking big chunks out of these mobs hp and it went by really smoothly and quickly...finished in 4 min 8 sec...almost the record on Bismarck.
Very Funny (Bastock Version)

Me and my buddy had the mission for a while and decided it was a good idea to do it at lvl 18. Did the first part with the WarChief, ownage no questions asked. Seeing how that part was so easy we went to kill the drag. Got on the battel field and the situation looked like this....Big eye thinngy and Dragon Vs WAR 18 and WAR 18. We thought we had this locked down, apparently not. Not more than 10sec later the situation now looked like this, Big eye thinngy and Dragon Vs Dead WAR 18 and Dead WAR 18. I guess they got revenge for us killing their Warchief buddy. LOL.

Super Funny story
# Jun 12 2004 at 1:40 AM Rating: Decent
The other day some people in my Linkshell decided to do the windy dragon. A 30WHM, 22WAR/6THF, 20MNK/9THF-ME, and a 27WAR. WE went into this thinking we could take on the dragon. We heard that this was really easy. As soon as we started we knew we were screwed. We took out the monster controlling the dragon. We then went off to kill the dragon. The WHM ran out of MP and could no longer heal. We took it to half life when it killed the 27WAR. The WHM attempted to heal but he kept being drwn it. The other WAR and me tried to kill it. I did my 2H Hundred Fists, this gave me all hate. I was the second to die. The WAR and the WHM were only ones left. The WHM tried to heal as the WAR voked the dragon and ran in circles. This went on for a while. The WHM would sometimes stop resting to heal the WAR. The WHM rested enough to raise the 27WAR. Both WAR's tried to kill the dragon but the 22WAR died. Then the 27WAR since he was weakened. The only one left was the WHM. He had no wepons and had fishing aromr on since he sold all of it when he got BRD. He was just about to go hand to hand with the dragon when time ran out. We all came out the circle dead but the WHM. He raised us all. We decided to fight the dragon later with a full party and having higher levels.

I think it does not matter anymore once they achieved rank 3.

I tried helping a group with the Palborough dragon last night and I couldn't enter the burning circle even though I had the item to enter the Giddeus burning circle. Luckily they killed it without me in almost 11 minutes.

We continued to Giddeus and picked up 2 replacements who were on the early part of the mission and we ended up fighting the Black Dragon with 4 people. 2 RDM, a melee and me as WHM. The Dragon used Curse on the melee which I tried to remove with holy water. Sadly he died but we managed to take the Dragon out. I used a pumpkin pie and had to use a High Ether to get some MP back and my 2 hour to "save" the 2 RDM's, the Dragon then hit me once for half my HP and it died ! 9:33 was our time :)

Now that i have read all these helpful posts i seem to be even more confused (which isnt difficult) than before, i have killed the warchief only once and got the recognition for it but i am still confused i have gone to windy and have the dagger and shield but have no idea what to do with them - and when i was in giddeus i found it very difficult to select/find a team is there anywhere around windhurst where i maybe able to recruit a team to do this part of quest - stuck on rank 2 and dont know what to do

Shiva Server Dragon Missions

I helped a whm do this quest last night she was level 22. We had a capped 25 blm and a level 21 dragoon. I was a capped 25 war. Fight was so easy but so much fun. Simple rules to and dragon fight for this rank: Sleep dragon, debuff seeker. Melee and have tank provoke seeker. Refresh wait times then have tank provoke dragon. Debuff dragon and have whm heal. If you have a dragoon have them use ancient circle before the fight. Use 2 hours if needed. We didn't use any. Fishkabobs help tank and mythkabobs help melee...I reccomend chief of both.

If anyone on Shiva needs help with their Dragon Fight please let me know... Its always a rush to fight them and good fun too.
Easy Fight
# Apr 23 2004 at 11:05 PM Rating: Decent
I did this yesterday, and this fight was a breeze.

Here is my PT:

24 WAR/MNK *me*
25 WHM/BLM
25 BLM/RDM
20 WHM/BLM

That's it. As soon as we got in to the fight, we just went right up to the dragon. BLM cast sleep on the dragon and I went to work on the eye. The 2 WHMs just healed me up and the BLM nuked for a minute. After eye was dead, I hit my 2 hour and went to work on the dragon hitting for about 96-100 per hit. BLM was out of MP at this point but the 25 taru WHM was still going strong. He kept me alive and I beat the mess out of this dragon without ever even going into the orange.

Battlefield time was: 5 min 38 sec Smiley: jawdrop

Oh yeah, forgot to add,

I was using Meat Mithkabobs here, which gives like a +4 or somethin to STR, and like 24.9% to attack or somewhere around there. And of course we all had Protect and Shell on.

This was on the San D'Oria Dragon that we did this.

Just a tip for all of you going to Sandy first:

After you fight the Black Dragon in Giddeus, be sure to go to the Bastok Consulate in Port Windy and talk to Melek. After fighting the dragon, you obtained the key item "Kindred Crest". Melek will give take the "Kindred Crest" and give you another key item "Kindred Report" to take back to Naji in Bastok Metalworks. Melek is located in a side room in the Bastok Consulate. When you enter the consulate, look to your right for a door. Melek can be found inside. (Both me and a friend had trouble finding her, so I figured others would have the same dilema).

In bastok I was told I had to deliver mail. So I went to Sandoria, didn't bother with no warchief, then proceeded to windurst and delivered the mail. Then I realised I had some vermin to exterminate too. Went to heaven's tower, got the sword offering. Went to the consul of Bastok in windust, they told me they would trade the weapon once I get it. (now it's starting to get fishy) Went to the yagudo in front of the door to the offering chamber, talked to him, he said he wanted food. (???)

So I go back to the consul of bastok, talk to everyone in there. No go. I go back to heaven's tower, talk to everyone in there. Didn't change a thing. If I look at my log, it says I am doing the windurst version.

Went back to Sandoria, killed the orc warchief Vargit TWICE. Went back to the consul of Bastok in sandoria, they said I had unfinished business in windurst.

Talked to a GM for the 2nd time today. They can only help you with glitches, they will not give you any hints whatsoever. The guy told me he saw this problem before and assured me it was no glitches, that I must talk again to an NPC I already talked to.

nothing happened when I killed the warchief. I was already on the windurstian version of the quest when I killed it, trying to see if I could do anything to get some advancement in this mission.

I killed Evy several times. Also tried to trade his weapon to the proper npc yagudo. That won't work until I present it the "Dull blade"

I think the person I must talk to is in Bastok.

I can't enter the chateau d'oraguille. The two gate gards at the front say I have no business inside of it. Is there another door to enter than the south gate in north sandoria?

Don't worry I did everything that was described on allakhazam.

I DO have the Aspir dagger and the parana shield. Tried trading those, it won't work until you show him the dull blade.

In my mission log it says "Emissary (Windurst)"

Don't know if you figured this out yet or not, if you didn't, it was more or less covered by another RE: poster above me. Anyway, since you have the offering from the Taru, you need to talk to the galka next to the Batokan Consul, I believe his name is like Ironjaw or somethin. Anyway, talk to him and he will replace your offering with a fake one.

When you have the fake one, THEN you go to Giddeus and talk to the proper yagudo and the you will get a cutscene. He tells you to bring him that Aspir knife, which you already have, so then go back to him and physcially TRADE the aspir knife to him. This will get you another cutscene. Now go back to the Bastok Consulate in Windurst and talk to the consul. Then head to San D'Oria to finish the second part of mission. Like I said, don't know if you have figured this out yet or not, but if you have, then just ignore this.

I figured it out yesterday, three months after starting the quest. Bare with me, three months later I didn't remember most of what I tried. In the consulate the galka you have to talk to is named GoldSkull. He is in another room, with a door. I don't know how or why, but I never opened that door. I was under the impression it was a blocked door which you can't use. Why I never did I don't know. I harvest, lumber and mine every day in this game and am a compulsive TAB key user. I figured I would have targeted that door before now.

Once I talked to GoldSkull everything went smooth. The hard part is yet to come, find people who have to fight the dragon in sandoria. (most go for the windurst dragon)

I am of course sending a modification to this mission so no one ever face the same problem.

That's easy enough. You talked to the wrong Yagudo. The one you want is further down in Giddeus. If you have the map, you need to walk down one of the side tunnels going to the lower areas and then head to the NW section of that part.

I have the map and I know this area by heart. I spoke to all the NPC yagudos I could find in there, just to make sure.

The one I am refering to is inside the tunnels, standing in front of a door. He wasn't far from Evy the Moonbreaker. If you go past that door, another yagudo is speaking about books and there is the offering chamber with a bag arboring the seal of Windurst.

not 100% sure what it is you're doing wrong, but i can assure you that it has nothing to do with going back to bastok. here's how it went for me.

~went to windurst (consul of bastok)
~spoke to melek, she sent me to heaven's tower
~kupipi in heaven's tower gave me the offering
~back to consul, trade the weapon to the galka standing next to melek (he won't say anything about it first, just trade it to him)
~took the dull blade to uu zhoumo, he asks for aspir knife
~kill eyy mon for knife, then trade to uu zhoumo
~report back to consul, get sent to san d'oria

i'm still trying to get a group together to kill the dragon in san d'oria. i think the problem you're having is that you're supposed to remember who they tell you to trade items to. they won't let on after, no matter how many times you talk to them. trade the "offering" to the galka at the consul standing next to melek. that should, hopefully, eliminate the problem.

I am supposed to trade it to him?? All I got is a key item, not something in my inventory.

Sword Offering
An offering from Windurst to the beastmen.
You received it from Heaven's Tower with the instruction to deliver it to the treasure chamber in Giddeus.

I don't remember seeing a galka there, will have to check later today.

I don't think you can actually trade a key item.
