Summary

Your adventuring fellow is in the hospital after being attacked by a monster in Qufim. You should go make sure your friend is not too badly hurt.

Walkthrough

Talk to Luto Mewrilah after you have enough fellowship bond. Next, talk to Monberaux in Upper Jeuno, Infirmary, (G-10). Talk to Luto Mewrilah again.

Head to (E-6) in Qufim Island and examine the Giant Footprint. An NM Gigas named Ingaevon will spawn. He is pretty easy, about level 53-55 with about 3000 HP.

After to defeat him, talk to your NPC then head back to Upper Jeuno and talk to Luto Mewrilah again. Talk to Monberaux one more time.

Just beat this guy today. Was starting on my sec drg af quest and said what the hell lets eqip my signal pearl and talk to luto and see if she has a quest for me. Sure enough I got this quest, and since I Got Penta thrust I felt I could do anything. So I got me a couple of of hp meds just in case and went to the fight as 53drg/26dnc. killed bats untill I got tp up then clicked on the foot print and off we went, penta thrust, jump, high jump. he's almost half dead then he starts his moves doing about 120-350 dmg to me and alot to my npc witch is set to smoothing healer lvl 53, I only healed her once and she did her job on me to keep me alive. built up tp again and landed the hit. it was all over. Never used my meds so this realy isn't that bad for this level range. Good luck to ya :)
A question

I have a question thast really isn't about the quest: How do you get an NPC anyway? Like, what quest?

Yup. Go to a rendez-vous point in any city (which you should do every day to strenghten the bond between you and your fellow) and have a chit-chat. Select "Let's talk about battle", and then "Tell me your level and combat style".

I "talked" to Monberaux 7 times and got a totally new cs. It worked. My npc is now lvl 56. As soon as I called her she leveled.

Sounds like a glitch to me..........
I'm with ya Flurbo

I finished the quest. Got all the cutscenes. The only option Luto gives me is start over. I'll try to spam Monberaux again and see if that works. I'll try what you say and let you know how it works. Thanks for the info. Needless to say i'm not very hopefull.............

Let me explain what happened to me and how I was able to fix it.

After I received the quest from Luto, I wasn't getting the CS from Monberaux, he would just talk about Wolfgang. Following much frustration, and even calling a couple of GMs about it, I went back to Monberaux, and just spammed him. After a few checks and different non-related messages, he finally game me the correct CS. I then proceeded to talk to Luto (with pearl equipped) and she also gave me the next CS. I was then able to pop NM in Qufim and finish quest.

I guess, the moral of the story is, check NPCs a bunch of times before giving up.
The GM system is bad

They just wouldn't listen to me. I've done the quest. I'm stuck. I talked to an SGM and he was less help than the others. So now i'm stuck at lvl 55 or start over. So, moral of the story..........Be careful with this quest!

Now I gotta start all over, buh bye lvl 55 npc...........
and just so everybody knows here is the link to where it says about the bug.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Regaining_Trust

i told them about it and it seems they are in denial.........
ok, just spoke to a worthless pol rep

What a waste of time they're whole system is. He wouldn't help me. He said I have to keep checking to see if it's fixed in future updates. Pathetic. Does anybody know if this bug is being fixed?
Glitch?

So, i've been trying to get my npc past lvl 55 for 2 months now. Needles to say i'm kinda pissed it's not happening. I've done all the quests and then some. After my npc became lvl 55 I died while lvling and the npc got a level lost graphic. NPC's don't lose lvls. I called a GM and told him about it and he said he'll take note of it.
I thought it wasn't a big deal so I left it alone. I check out the quest Regaining Trust on www.ffxiclopedia.com and saw this...........
"Once you have defeated the NM, speak with your NPC before doing /anything/ else or you can glitch this level cap quest in a way GMs are not able to reset (Unnecessary to click on the Footprint) and return to Luto Mewrilah for a cutscene. "

I'm thinking this is what I did. So I went to Luto and did the start over thing. She said i'll never see my npc again. I said, NO. So, seems i'm stuck at lvl 55 or I have to start all over.........
Anybody know if this is true? If it is it really sucks balls.

Thanks

feel free to pm me about this cause it's really pissing me off...........
How to get the quest
# Apr 20 2007 at 1:27 AM Rating: Decent
Its like the first part of the Quest says but when you talk to the doc, if he does give CS, just put signal pearl on and then click on him again. I got the CS right after i did that. If your not getting the quest you might not be close enough to lvl 56 on your npc and the quest isnt activating. So you might just need more xp on your npc.

With Monberaux in the hospital, the cutscene includes Monberaux and your NPC.

Note: I could not get to/pass this part. When I talked to Luto she gave me the quest Blessed Radiance, which had to be completed first before I was able to continue with this quest; even though I started this quest first.
