I've done this quest on my main, but it does not work for my mule, I get the quest text and have the required fame but it doesn't show up in my quest log and I can't trade him the helms, anyone know why?

Addendum: I talked to some NPCs in the area and did the helm quests with the kids and turned in about 10 treant bulbs for gormet quest while waiting for GM call and it suddenly showed up in my active quests, perhaps its a time delay? Or just buggy, but it worked.

You must have 8 of the helms in your inventory then trade 1 at a time to him, this is how it worked for me

After multiple attempts to get quick fame in Bastok last night for a Titan avatar fight, I gathered up about 15 Quadav Helms under the assumption that this was single turn-in items for the quest.

Upon getting to the NPC, he "spoke" the terms of the quest, requesting a Quadav Helm. Upon trying to trade one, no response. I zoned out, thinking it was a zone quest...no luck. Zoned to Beadeaux, came back...no luck. Tried trading every multiple of the Quadav Helms available (1-8 at a time)...no luck. This quest is broken...not functioning properly...and needs to be addressed. After trying all those methods, the quest doesn't actually even show on my Quest listing. Why?

Obviously this quest will boost Bastok fame but does it affect fame in any other towns like Norg, Jeuno, etc?

Jeuno fame is equal to the lowest main city fame. Other than that fact this only raises Bastok fame.

Well, I'm glad people are so sure they know exactly how fame is added up. I have Level 5 fame in Jeuno and Bastok and level 3 fame in Sandoria. My Windurst fame is 0, I've only done 2 quests there, RNG and SMN job quests. So no, its not completely true that Jeuno is equal to the lowest of the 3 main cities. Also, I've done very few Jeuno quests.

Can anyone help me?
I have started the quest already its in my quest log but when i trade the helm with him nothing happens. I have heard a few people are having the same problem here. Did anyone find a solution?

every time i go to beadeaux with thf sub , i never leave with less then 20-30 helms , 1-1400 k on ah , they drop off every other old quadav , and also the oozes theyre drop 50k earings , but super rare drop , the helms is easy fast reliable gil. Stop treasure huting without treasure hunter.

I was camping Evileye in Beadeaux for a little over an hour and had 6 of these drop. I had a THF sub to help.

I've been farming in Pal. mine for a while (lvl 48 blm/thf). Didn't see a helm drop. When I got the quest, he specifically asked me to go to beadeux to get a helm. Not sure if helms do drop in Pal. mine.

i used to train farm in pal mines on the top floor. i've killed countless numbers of old quads and have never gotten a quad helm. i don't believe they drop there

i think you're thinking of the fetich head. you can't get the helm anywhere other than beadeux off old quads and NM quads. you won't get it in the mines.

You can buy Quadav Helms from the AH, but they sell for about a 100+gil more than what you get for the reward for this quest.

Hm... these helms don't seem like a rare drop to me. Least the last time I went into Beaudeux I got like 10 of them when I left. Kill the old quadavs, they drop them alot more.

Hi, I just happend to be killing quadavs in Badeux or whatever its called, which is south east in the Marshlands, which is north east of the Highlands.

anyway fight Old Quadavs, because they seem to drop them more than any others.

Oh and please... all you nerds out there, stop embarassing yourself by telling people they are stupid because they dont know every single detail about a video game that they dont play every waking moment of their lives... go outside...

What this guy said is complete BS. You need level 3 fame rank for this quest. I know since I kept checking my fame rank as I was going fot teleport-dem scroll quest, which required fame rank level 4. Right when I got to rank 3, a couple different quests opened up including this.

Its not BS, I've only done 3 Bastok Quests and I already have Rank 5 Fame. This is because you can get Bastok Fame from Selbina. And when you try to level your selbina fame, your Bastok and Sandoria Fame goes higher also.

Now if he hasn't done any Selbina Quests too then it probally is BS

This quest is repeatable. You can have an inventory full of helms and keep trading them for money and fame ^^b This is a great way to farm for some money and fame \ (^.^) /

Too bad it will take you all day to get a Helm. I know Ive killed tons of Quads and they never drop the Helms. but perhaps a Thief would have better luck, it does seem like a good way to get fame and cash.

All quests are fame based not lvl based (although some quest will require you to have higher lvl) Some might skip on quest because they get impatient with it. Just keep in mind that maybe the quest you are not doing is a quest required to unlock others. Also keep in mind that some ADV jobs (SMR) require you to have completed a minimum amounts of quests. Still thinking on skipping quests? All adv jobs require you to complete quests, so learn to have some patience and do a complete go around town once in awhile to uncover new unlocked quests. Your Quadav helm quest will unlock eventually

SMN is fame based, but you dont need fame to be a summoner, only if you want the special Avatars... but then theres not point in being a summoner if you dont have the avatars now is there? ('-')

lvl of fame? yes.. lvl of job? no.. as long as the help is there you can load up on the AF equipment at lvl 1.. but you wont be able to wear it ('-')

You need level 18 to do the subjob quest.

All advance Jobs require you to be level 30 to accept, the Chocobo Quest requires that you are 20 to accept, and the Sub-Job Quest requires you to be 18 to accept. Those are three OBVIOUS ones that require a level. Others may require a level, but most people won't know that since they have already gained the necissary level before even trying to get that quest.

Dam i've been trying gfor these helms for the last 2 deays and gave up they are ubar rare it seem and by the time you find one you'll forget where to take it.. During my track to fin these i have collected over 20 shield all sell for 150 or so gil.... made more then 900gill and at this point dont care for this quest.

I have spoken to Gar at least once every level, currently 12, and still get the speech about how many galka killed etc, but no actually quest assignment and the quest is most definitly not in my current list.

Any ideas on what triggers him to assign the actual quest?

Its not level based, its fame based. I have completed over 50 quests and he'll give it to me. If a quest is listed here and the person giving it won't talk to you, you should assume that you don't have enough fame.

I see people talking about how many qiest s they have done.. There are not 50 quests to my knowledge in Bastok.. Do other city's quest count to fame? Or are you repeating quests?

I belive that the required ammount is 30 Unique quests, I belive that repeatable quests count for half a quest every time you repeat them. And Getting Fame in Selbina will also raise your fame here.

For those not familiar with the area, Palborough mines are in the farthest north area on the east side of North Gustaberg. It should be fairly obvious by looking at the map where it is.

I tried trading the helm (bought at auction house) to Goraow and he would not take it. Has anyone completed this mission successfully since the US release? (assuming some quest information might have come from the beta, and then changed)

I have enough Fame, I talk to Goraow and he tells me

I don't get the quest in my quest log tho..

I think this quest is buggy in the US retail! ANYONE have any info.. please only people that HAVE completed it respond, please don't respond elsewise.

Head up into the Highlands, you'll find Onyx and higher level Quadavs there, I'm pretty sure the Helms will NOT drop from any of the Quadavs in the Parlborough Mines...but I haven't explored the mines fully yet, so there might be some higher level Quadavs if you go deep enough.

I feel your pain. I am currently doing the Quadav fethish quest, killing these guys by the truck load and have never seen a helm. I have been fighting them in Palbourogh Mines. Maybe helms don't drop there.
