Description

After finishing the quest "Navigating the Unfriendly Seas" go to the Shararat Teahouse in Whitegate and talk to Ratihb to get the key item Life Float.

Go to the Dvucca Isle Staging Point and head to the Arrapago Reef entrance at (G-9). If you don't have this staging point you can walk through Arrapago Reef but it's a long and dangerous walk.

In Arrapago Reef go to the boat at (H-8). There are mobs in this area but you should be able to get there without sneak/invis. When your party is ready check the Cutter to enter a BCNM on the Ashu Talif. (You do not have to fight as a Corsair.)

You fight two NPC mobs, a Hume Warrior named Yazquhl and a Galka Blue Mage named Gowam. It's an easy fight for a party of 70+'s. I'd recommend killing the BLU first and sleeping/kiting the WAR. If you get a chance walk around the BC area, it's really pretty.

After the fight you'll get a CS and your Corsair's Tricorne. Your entire party will exit the BC in Arrapago Reef at the main entrance near the Pup ???.

quick question

^.^ thanks for clearing that up, Corsair AF seems reasonably easy to obtain, just costly, and takes and a wait till midnight jst.

:)

so you don't have to have COR as your main job going into this BCNM?

No you do not.
battle was too easy

this battle was WAY to easy... its harder to get to the place. anywho 2 ppl can
duo(well i was there too but i sat in the back)my freinds were a rdm/nin and blu/nin all they did was just keep there hp up but blu almost died when war health was at half cause the other one jumped over and they both started to attack him good thing was rdm binded it and blu ran and killed the war. so my guess is that when 1 is in trouble other come to help.and the cs for this quest are cool :D

Went with a group of six:

73WHM/SMN
73PLD/WAR
75RDM/BLM (me)
75BLU/NIN
75SMN/WHM
75SMN/WHM

As you can see, a very mage-heavy party, but we trashed this BCNM. Went in (all of your buffs except food wear when you enter, don't bother casting until you're inside) and buffed, then the PLD voked the (NM)BLU and the SMNs sent Garuda to use Predator Claws. The (NM)BLU went down in about 60 seconds.

The BLU and I both attempted to sleep the WAR, both with Pinecone Bomb and Sleep II...he resisted both. Gonna go out on a limb and say that he can't be slept. That being said though, the BLU was able to straight tank the WAR and almost kill him solo.

All in all, pretty easy. Whole fight, once buffed, took about two minutes. From a non-COR perspective, not a very fulfilling BCNM to do- I didn't get any cutscenes at all. Not sure who those two guys were or what happened after the fight, but I know we made two CORs in the LS happy.
Tricorne Fight.

I just wrapped this up last night.

My PT was

73 PLD
75 RDM
72 MNK
73 DRK (me)
71 DRG

After the CS (which is very good) We went in and Buffed. We let the PLD and RDM separate the HUME and GALKA.

The RDM Kited BLU and PLD voked WAR. Remember while having your RDM kite that he keeps BLU away from tank. The BLU will cast a sleepga and a silencing spell. The Rest of the melee should proceed to go to town on the Hume. A little note, the Hume WAR seems to either Double attack or Crit on every single blow. Id imagine that if you get silenced and dont have echo drops this could get rather nasty for your tank.
Finish off the WAR and Proceed to the BLU. For all the spell spamming he does, He is a big softie. I dropped him with a fat Guillotine.

you will enter another CS (another good one). Receive Tricorne and proceed to Whitegate to show that bad boy off :]

I just got my Tricorne. We were on our way helping some friends get the Staging Point there and decided to go get my af3 while we were at it - it was me as 75 rdm/whm, and two thf/nins. The thfs killed the warrior with no trouble while I kited the incredibly slow galka in circles up and down the stairs (you don't even need gravity, he's too slow to catch up to you). Moved onto galka when warrior was dead. This fight's easier than Warrior AF3.
not sure they can be slept

Don't rely on being able to sleep them. I tried ES-sleepgaII and both resisted. Luckily people were able to voke them off me before I got beat to death. I had poison pots active but the blu's spells never hit me or the whm, and we weren't standing too far away. Probably a good idea regardless, though.

I recently became a lvl 50 cor. Completed all my other af quests except for the Tricorne. After doing some research on this quest/bcnm fight, I saw many posts describing how this fight can be very problematic, and many people had to retry it. I got two of my buddies to come along for it. We went in 75 mnk/ninx2 (I was one, so was one of my friends) and the other 73 rdm. The plan was to have my mnk friend to fight the war alone, while rdm grav/bound the blu and I kited it. We get into the fight, myself a bit nervous. My friend and I boost and chiblast our respective targets, I proceed to kite while he takes down the war. This fight took no more than 4-5mins. My friend was only cured by the rdm 3 times, the blu only hit me with an AoE sleep spell (not exactly sure what) and Maelstorm, which also hit the other mnk since he came up to fight it after the war died. One of the easiet fights I've ever been in, and now I have all my cor afs ;P

These mobs use/spam Vorpal Blade, Circle Blade, and one other.

Multi-hit WS = goodbye shadows.

Please make sure you've got a Whm or a damn good Smn to cure whoever the hell is unlucky enough to tank.

Thf/Nin@75 with +70 evasion and I still ate a vorpal blade that went through 1 of my shadows and hit me for 500 something... These guys are no joke if you have a small PT.

Went Smn Thf Thf War.

Hate floated a bit too much for my tastes... War got hate early on from the Blu and died. Other Thf died while the Blu was at low life. Carby had the War occupied. I finished off the Blu. Smn raised other Thf, and we finished off the War. War definately more dangerous of the two. I'd advise against taking any job that's gonna give them alot of TP... since you'll eat WS spam as a result.

Small group -may- be better than large group unless it's mages who wont give mob tp (Pretty sure magic gives no tp, could be wrong)
