Description

Making a Mockery is a level 60 cap ISNM located in the Jade Sepulcher. To enter, one member of the party must have a level 60 set of Confidential Assault Orders. If each member brings their own, you can do this mission once per set of orders. The maximum party members is set at 6.

Once inside the ISNM you will fight a Mocking Colibri. This colibri has all the normal colibri attacks, including the ability to recast magic at you. In addition it also has a move called Wisecrack. Wisecrack is the one thing that makes this fight difficult. It has a Charmga effect, hitting all members within range. This is obviously dangerous to any members out of range or anyone that resists. If all members are within range of Wisecrack and become charmed, the colibri will come unclaimed and begin to regen HP rapidly. Also, it should be noted that the arena is fairly small, so there is little room for kiting.

We first tried this fight with a standard party setup of 2 healers, 1 tank and 3 Damage Dealers. We found that with this setup, most of the fight was based on luck. The luck being in how often the colibri used Wisecrack. With this method we would all stand within range of Wisecrack and let it charm us all. It would regen a bit of HP, maybe around 15-20% before we came uncharmed. Unfortunately this method is purely based on luck, the luck being how often it used Wisecrack. Sometimes it would use it once through the whole fight, while others it would use it continuously. This led to us going 2/6 on this fight with this method. Then we cooked up a new strategy...

On our second day trying this, we had gone with a very specific setup. 2xSmn, 1xTank, 1xHealer, 2xDamage Dealer. The summoners are imperative to this strategy, and beastmaster or any other job with a pet will not be able to fill the roll. What we did was this:

Have everybody except the SMNs take the colibri to the farthest end of the arena and begin to fight it there. The SMNs would then both take out an avatar and use a Blood Pact to cause strong damage in order to gain a little hate, but not enough to take hate from the tank. Then the SMNs would retreat to the furthest end of the battlefield and wait. Once the colibri uses Wisecrack, the four players within range would be charmed and immediately start hitting the avatars, because the avatars always evade charm. The avatars won't last long, but with 2, they should delay long enough for everyone to become uncharmed before the colibri makes its way back to where the summoners are. Because the summoners and avatars never become charmed, the colibri never goes unclaimed and does not regen any HP. One avatar cannot hold off the group of charmed people long enough, and the summoner will be killed before charm wears off if there is not a second one, this is why the second SMN is important. Once everyone becomes uncharmed, pull the colibri back to the far end of the arena, resummon avatars and do another Blood Pact to get a bit of hate. SMNs retreat, and repeat the process until the colibri is dead.

We went 4/4 with this strategy and everyone was able to get their egg, which always drops, as well as a few other nice items.

Did this ISNM with such ease today with bst, smn x4, and cor.(me)
Basically what we did were as soon as we go in, smn buffs up the party, and I would roll evoker's to get their mp back up. (evoker's bonus with smn :D) and then I would roll beast roll to get attack up on pets. Smn would use shiva to fight with and one smn would start the fight and retreat the mob back to the farthest part of the area, so we had room to avoid aoe. Then all the others would sic pets on it, using bloodpacts and holding hate evenly between recasts. I was rather bored, but this was fun to do! Easy win and I got a leech scimitar on my run :D

fun fun

when I was in a pt for this, we usually had 2x BLU (myself being one of them), a refresh, a WHM, a NIN, and one DD.

NO, and I repeat, NO one should be wearing any resist charm gear for this.

BLU's would throw {headbutt} once they start seeing it charge (I did it at a charge, or erratic movements), since it it possible to stun it before it gets off wisecrack (but there has to be no lag for either, and it has to be just start charging). Or, they just spammed headbutt to try and keep it stunned. We have one person (usually the refresher) pull it to the entrance, once we're all fully buffed up, and everyone huddles around the mob, doing their job. Even if everyone gets charmed, you pull it back to the entrance, and start fighting it again. If someone dies, raise them ASAP. Happy hunting.

Oh, and I almost forgot, pray no one DC's in the middle of the fight, we had someone do that, and when they came back, we were all charmed (I missed ;_;, and the other headbutt was down), and he swiftly got the beating of his life. We all were rofl'ing when we pulled out our weapons on him.

The guide posted is a bit weak (no offense). So ill post one thats a bit better.

We did this 6 times with the following setups.

WHM/BLM, BLM/RDM, BLM/WHM, WAR/NIN, PLD/WAR, COR/RNG
WHM/BLM, BLM/WHM, BLM/WHM, WAR/NIN, PLD,WAR, COR/RNG

We won only one time but that was only due to us experimenting with different strategies.

Failed Strats:

1. Sleep the tank and the bird.

Well this didnt work out very well. The PLD was eaily slept for plenty of time for charm to wear but sleeping the bird is impossible, maybe a BRD can do it. The bird resisted countless sleeps and light shots. We had our war stay back and let the tank do his thing till he got charmed. Then the WAR was suppose to tank.

The big problem is that the charm move resets hate and voke wasnt enough to pull the bird of the mages. Thus we died. We tried this strat once.

2. Sleepga the tank, war, and bird.

Well the only problem we ran into this was that sleepga wont hit everyone. By that I mean, even though its ga it only single targets the person or mob your targeting. The charmed players are counted in that for some reason. So we died again.

3. Gravity Kite the bird.

We had one of our BLM switch to RDM to try and gravity the bird so it could be kited when charm when off. Gravity didnt really help. It did land though, but the bird still moves to fast and wears quickly.

4. Bind the bird.

Since sleeping the melee wasnt the problem we tried to Bind the bird. We could only land bind with ele seal and he uses wise crack to much to keep it bound always. So we all died again.

Our Winning Strat:

On our 5th time we tried letting everyone become charmed. Even though the bird does regen health its not very much and can easily be dropped right back down. The fight took a total of 9 minutes which was well into the safe zone of time limit constraints.

Some will say that this should be SMN burned or NIN tanked but it really doesnt need it. The bird does hit abnormally hard even on the PLD. Normal hits on the PLD where something like 150-300 and 300-400 on anyone else. With all the amges helping cure it wasnt a huge problem. The big thing here is to let wise crack land in stead of stunning it everytime. Even though the bird regains health this gives a nice breather to the PLD and mages to regain MP without worrying about dieing.

The only problem we ran into with this strat was people uncharming early and people non getting charmed. Non being charmed happened maybe 3 times in 2 fights the entire 6 rounds we went. Uncharming to early happened only once to our poor taru blm.

The key to not getting killed when Uncharming early is to immediatly run away. The charm doesnt last long enough and the bird and charmed ones are slow to react to fighting people.

This strat does rely on that your BLM can stun the mob on some of its wise cracks so you can get its HP down and not let it spam charm over and over. It can use Charm from the begining of the fight with out tp.

Things to Note:

Sleep and Light shot wont land on the bird, not sure on BRD.
Bind only lands with ele seal.
Gravity doesnt last long enough to kite.
Sleepga will not perform the -ga effect.
Wise Crack can be stunned.
The bird does hit very hard.
Wise Crack resets hate.
When everyone is charmed all status effect on the bird are removed.
The bird has extremely low evasion.
The brid has very good accuracy but can still evade.
Dont fight on Darksday.

6x BST pwn this ISNM.

Here's what you need:
6x BST 60+ (with BST AF for reward)
2x jugs of Seedbed soil per run (12 if all 6 BSTs have orders)
2x pet food Zeta per run

Strategy:

After entering all BST call pet and wait for timer (@2:30), All BST send in jugs at the same time and run out of range of Wisecrack, using Sic whenever it is ready.

Use pet food and recall jugs when you need to.

The Colibris level seemed to change randomly from one fight to the other as sometimes a few of the BSTs only needed to call one jug per fight and other times we had to get in radius to get charmed (to wear doen the timer on "Call Beast") before we could send in more jugs. The difficulty for the all-bst strategy is relient on what WSs the bird uses, when it uses wisecrack alot the fight is relatively smooth, whereas when it spammed its multi-hit WS (800~ dmg to fungy) fights were a bit more difficult.

With this startegy I've never lost this fight.

most entertaing ISNM to date, i love watching people get charmed, then murder their friends, classic! Easy ISNM just save tp moves for stun ws (wisecrack charms ya) any 4 dds a tank and a healer can do this with ease. Also every member should stay close to the colibri just in case wisecrack goes off, you want everyone to be charmed, or else your gonna put that fancy new sword you bought into your friends eyeballs, and he's gonna get mad and challange you to balista then half you day is gone to something that coulda otherwise been productive.
