I dont know if it was luck, or if this is the way it is, but I just did this 2 times, and the person that was leading the group knew exactly where to go.

pt set up: 75nin/dnc, 75sam/thf, 66sam/thf (me). We went in as uncapped.

We needed to sub thf to gain access to Cyclone with our daggers.

We started with the north room. My Cyclone as a 66 Sam was enough to wipe out the chigoes. This had an NPC.

The second room was in the middle, and this one had Ryaaf.

Our 3rd Room was on the east side, and this contained the 3rd NPC, which completed our mission.

In the 2 runs that we did, they were the same NPCs in the same place. If this is truely consistant for all runs, then this is by far the easiest Assault so far.

Hi, I recently did Saving Private Ryaaf again and it was a total failure. As SAM/THF w/ a shotel, Circle Blade MISSED 1 chigoe in each room(a straight miss or evade). Leading to 3 deaths and a sense of 'what happened'?

Edit: Upon reading about Assaults on the wiki, i came across this nugget:

Quote:
Cyclone [...] or an staff skill [...] Earth Crusher. Both AOE weaponskills are magical, therefore they cannot miss.

So, when doing assault, I would recommend either rock crusher or cyclone. and NOT CIRCLE BLADE. Thank you, and goodnight.

Each room (clearly visible on the map, 5 total) has 3 'Cursed Chigoes' and 1 NPC that may either be a prisoner or a Fomor('Experimental Undead') monster when you approach them.

Make your way to each room, and have the chigoe killer(s) go in and take them out first. Then approach the kneeling 'NPC'. The NPC will either change to a Fomor or into the real prisoner once you are right next to them. You can't click them or select them before this time. If they pop into a Fomor, get out of there asap. Also watch out for roaming Fomors in the halls, especially near the room in the middle.(check that room last, if needed). Find the 3 prisoners and that unlocks the Rune.

I recommend.....

Someone with flee to approach each 'NPC' , in case they pop Fomor , that can flee off and lose aggro just in case.

A DD w/ Meditate and an AOE WS (cyclone,Circle Blade, etc) To insta-kill all 3 chigoes in each holding room. Meditate makes sure you have the TP already ready for each room.

This could easily be trio'd by 2 sam/thfs (or thf/sams) and 1 healer.

PUP or /PUP works very well here, both strobe and flashbulb instantly kill the chigoes.
