Went to Fe'yen as whm 43, using {sneak}, i earned title Sold {sneak}!, so group doing mission 5-1, invite me, they say am lucky since their RDM hasn't come.

I finish the mission, and search for {Key}, joined another group, fond it, start on my search for the chest, but no luck, i dlvl, then come back, as WHM 43, searched for hours, no luck, then come back again at WHM 45, and got aggored before i even reach Fe'yin. {warp} back.

I'll try to get Holy Breastplate, WHM Soloing tough..

and i'll go now.

If you're smart about it, 60WHM can solo these Shadows np. I soloed Shadows for quite a few hours until I finally got my key.

The Chest took 5 trips...lol. Wasn't the easiest one to find.

Hello, I'm sorry if someone said this, but does anyone know where and when the chests spawn. I really got to get this done. Thanks for your time.

We went to go get my AF body peice done in Fei'Yin, and we had 4 whm in party, 75rdm/nin and 63 mnk/war (thanks guys), 3 of the whm needed to get it done, although i got party together i was last on the runs (dunno why) anyhow, between the fights we was getting tp up (300tp and Seraph Strike does 22 damage on that thing) i luckily enough got a key drop off a shadow, party let me have key, got kill for af and then went and got chest after printing off the map and boom! there's my af and tele-vahzl done in one. If you still need to get tele-vahzl when you're doing AF, kill the shadows to get the key between the fights to get tp up, if the party you're with is ok with that, the shadows arn't too hard and with a lv 55+ party of at least 6 you shouldn't have a problem in there (key hunting not af!).

My buddy Smashface and I went to do this quest last night. He is a 58 RDM and I am a 50 DRK. He didn't have any trouble with getting the key. Each Shadow took about 3 min. to kill and we commonly had to fend off two at a time. The chest on the other hand was a real treat. I was the only one with the map so I went on my little path of treasure chest pops. Eventually we made it downstairs to head up to the blocked side on the 1st floor. I didn't realize that Colosus aggroed to sight so I had two of them on my tail for a moment before I kicked flee in gear and left them in my dust. I used a pot of silent oil and ditched them with the quickness. Shortly there after I found the chest inside a Cement Door room with a Drona or whatever. We still had another to get. So we went to farm some Ore Golums for a bit then headed back on the treasure chest hunt. Checked every spot for about 2 hrs. until I caught aggro from a Vampire Bat on the 1st floor. One two then three bats joined the fight. I had to zone this time. Kicked in the Flee and busted out of there leaving my buddy behind. I healed up met back up and found the treasure chest on that run in the same place as before.

I had my friend Lunais (71smn) help me out with getting the key. For some reason, whenever we're together and trying to get a drop, we get REALLY lucky. We got to the room where the shadows dwell... Lunais killed one shadow and it dropped! OMGWFT! L-l-lucky!

Then we ran downstairs where the other treasure box hunters couldn't go and it was just sitting there... waiting for me to open it. Probably took about 45 minutes once we got to Fei'yin.

Same thing happened when getting the marble for Teleport Yhoat. I was killing lizzys in the jungle with Lorin (40bst) for about an hour and no drop. Lunais comes to take over for Lorin. Before Lunais even gets to where I am waiting, I see "you find a slab of Elshimo Marble" and I said, "WTF how did that happen?" Luny decided to kill lizzys on the way.... Same thing happened with the carbuncle ruby.... only I think it was the 2nd leech that dropped it. And we got two in a row or something like that...

Is there some kind of hidden luck stat? Lunais must be my lucky charm. I never get drops like that on my own. ^_^

Hehe...160k now on Asura...Hmm, I think I'll just pick the lock for some quick cash. Other than that, I could always bring along my LS and help get keys for everyone. ^^

As my title for this post suggests, i am finished with "Sorcery of the North" which is a relief to say the least. I had a 57 Thf help me and we quickly got 3 keys in 1.5 hours. Only death was mine, and I was downstairs poking around the Hellish Weapons that were IT to me...anyway. Have fun and take a Thf!

Ok, i've been soloing these shadows (55 RDM/27 BLM) for days...why won't this chest key drop? Do I need to have a Thf with TH2 help me, or am i just having bad luck? Anyone with knowledge of this would be helpful. I'm fighting in the J-9 area of the second floor.

Just like to say that the drop rate on the key isn't as insanely high as some people are saying. You all must have been really lucky, or I've been really unlucky. Spent several hours taking down Shadows and Ore Golems with a DRK and PLD from my LS (me being WHM who needs the scroll) and couldn't get a single drop. All three of us had THF subbed to boot. Fortunately we got some decent skill-ups, a bunch of dark/light crystals and some decent drop items to sell so it wasn't a total waste of time. When I finally get a key, not looking forward to battling the high level Thieves in there for a chest.

is what my search comment said as I ran around Fei'weliketokillmages'Yin. The two thieves I saw while I was being escorted through both turned and went away when they saw me. One even killed an Ore Golem before it could aggro me. The only person I had to fight was another WHM who was probably hunting the scroll because she had bought it way back when.

Yay me! I don't have to sell everything I own to get this spell! Now to start working on Erase. /sigh.

First I would like to say that mystery tours map is immensely helpful. With that said, here is my experience with the quest. The key drop rate is insanely high, me and a 60DRG/26RDM (named Dub for those who may know him, he normally subs a 30WAR) were running around Fei'Yin for my Warp 2 scroll quest. On the way we killed two shadows, second one we killed dropped the key. Told him in needed it for Vahzl so he let me have it. I realized I didn't have the quest so I held onto the key for another time. Few days later, we go back so I can get the tome and he could get a key for when he does the quest. At this point, I realized 10/13 chest spawn points are easy, but the other 3 require you to go down to the bottom floor, then back up. So I was checking the spawns in the Southeast corner while he was killing shadows to get his key. I ran a few rooms away from him and forgot that golems aggro to sight >.< One hits me, sneak wears, and I try to run back to him (aggroing every bat, shadow, and golem on the way). He tried frantically to get them off but i knew it wasn't gonna work so I used Invincible. That still didn't save me and I ended up dying lol. He managed to kill everything and started to look for a raise for me. While I'm laying there dead, the chest spawns not 2 feet from me and at the same time, he gets a key from a shadow (after about 5 mins of killing). So we were excited because he had also found me a raise so we were basically done. My raise was a 54bst/27whm lmao and when he comes to raise me, he sees the chest and grabs it >.< "no problem" i thought, I knew that 10/13 spots are good odds so I wasn't too worried. I was so wrong. After weak wore off, we checked the 10 easy spots and there were no spawns...so we went down and **** started conning Ep to him so he needed to sneak himself at that point. We ran ALLLLLL the way around and were one room from the stairs that lead back up, I run off ahead and he didn't realize colossus' aggro to sight (same mistake as me). It aggros him so he tells me to come back so I can heal him a bit. He checks it and it cons as DC to him....so I'm like "F**k", I'm curing him and sneak wears off while underworld bats are nearby..."double f**k". I use every drop of MP I had to heal him, the colossus had a smidge of life left, he dies, bats kill me, and delevel to 43, we're both lying there dead -.-; we send a /t to that bst/whm, he raises us both and says he'll help out. So he joins our pt, Dub and the BST start buffin us all with sneak/invis but the bst accidentally casts invis on me a second time and not on himself >.> <.< so I figured he was gonna cast it on himself and catch up so I run ahead and start up the stairs when Dub says "aggro"...colossus aggros the BST. I was about to run back but sneak was already wearing and 2 bats were in my way. So Dub and the BST are taking on the colossus and judging from their HP, they weren't doing too badly, sadly the BST didn't heal dub very much, dub died again, bst managed to kill the colossus right after dub died....I was very angry at myself because I could've kept him alive if I hadn't run ahead (failed my duty as a PLD >.<) we finally get back together, check the 3 ghetto spawn points...no spawn, so we head back down to check the other 10 again. We almost get back up, BST dc'es...by this time it was almost 1am and I had class at 9:30 the next morning (as did Dub), I asked him for one more pass through and then we'll try again another day. Check all spawns and didn't find a thing so I finally lost my patience and decided to give up. We were resting in the room of the last spawn in the circlualr room in the center (we started in the SE corner and worked our way around, the NE corner ones are the 3 inaccessible ones btw). Dub didn't have a map but I had both the real map and mystic tours map so I was doing the leading and without Dub knowing I decided to check all the spawns in backwards order on the way out. So he stayed resting in the central room and I checked the nearby points...nothing...so I head back to check on him and he got aggroed by some bats while resting. I go jump in and I see something in the corner of the screen, it was the goddamn chest. I couldn't freaking believe it, if I hadn't have gone back to check on him I would've missed it ^^;. So i snagged it, and I was all ecstatic, sadly on Ragnarok the economy is failing big time, about 90% of all items are severely dropping in price so tele vahzl only goes for 78-82k but I'm pulling a JP and leaving mine at 90-100k since I can afford not to get that money right away. Thank you to all who listened to my incredibly long story ^^ moral is, be patient, don't run off ahead of your escort like me (it could get you, or them, killed fast), and be extremely careful, you have magic aggro mobs, sound aggro, and sight aggro mobs in there so be very cautious. EDIT: I forgot to mention that after the BST joined, we got a 3rd key for him. My point being that the Key seemed to drop incredibly easy from the shadows at J-9 and around there, and none of us had THF subbed for Treasure Hunter. The chest was our bane ^^;

I've been doing a lot of farming lately, saving up for a few really nice pieces of equipment, and I got bored. So I decided to do this quest, along with the Warp II one, while I was there. I brought one stack of Silent Oil with me, and Invis was not a problem, since I sub NIN normally. In getting through Beaucedine Glacier, then getting to the room on the second map for the Warp II quest, I had used 8 of my Silent Oils. I decided to just look for the treasure chest (since I'm a THF, I didn't have to worry about getting a key). Two Silent Oils later, I found one, picked it, got the Fei'Yin Magic Tome on the first try, then used a Scroll of Instant Warp and got out. I really wasn't expecting to find it my first trip; guess I was lucky. Put it on sale on the Jeuno AH for 100k, and Warp II for 45k. Can't wait 'til they sell. ^^
