Summary

Zeid, the sole master of the way of the Dark Knight in Vana'diel, has been sighted in the Palborough Mines. If you seek him out, he may make you an apprentice...

Walkthrough

Completing this quest will allow you to change to the Dark Knight job.

Gumbah is on the 2nd Floor of the mines in a house. He sends you to Palborough Mines. You might have to talk to him a few times before he does, but eventually you will see a cutscene with Werei and Volker which talks about the Palborough Mines.

Once there, board the ship on the third floor at (H-8) and you will receive a two-handed sword. Equip the sword and start killing things. You need to kill at least 100 enemies with the sword in any area. Only Warriors and Dark Knights can equip the sword. Once you kill at least 100 enemies by dealing them the final blow with the sword, go to Beadeaux and a cut scene will be triggered that flags you as a Dark Knight.

NOTE: Do not kill an enemy with a weapon skill, as it will not count toward the 100 you need.

Warrior only?

Do you have to be a warrior and use the two handed sword to kill the enemies?

The sword (chaosbringer) is in fact only equippable by WAR or DRK. Seeing as how you're equipping it to get the DRK class, only a WAR can complete the quest.

Doesn't matter. Noob yard trash will work.

Just try to be considerate of those that can still get experience from that yard trash.

When doing this, must you use the two-handed sword given to you for the quest to work?

If I'm a lvl 30 Red mage, will I be able to use the 2-handed sword? Or should I be a warrior? Could I just switch then to a lvl 1 warrior and kill 100 little monsters anywhere?

I haven't seen any 2-hand swords that red mages can use, so I'd think not.

Don't remember the level of the sword that you use for this quest so cannot say aye or nay on level 1 warrior.
