Summary

In order to become a truly great hunter, one must be accepted by mother nature. In order for that to happen, one must gain the fang of a tiger, the fanged king. But it does not sound like any old fang will do...

Walkthrough

Note: You must be level 30 in order to begin this quest.

Speak to Perih Vashai at (K-7) in Windurst Woods. She wants you to watch an old sabertooth die and bring his bones back to her.

Head to the Sauromugue Champaign. Walk up the hill at (L-8) and find the cave located at (L-10). Three sabertooth tigers roam around outside the cave, so it's probably best to ride a chocobo there and bring a form of warp with you.

Examine the old bones and Old Sabertooth will spawn. Wait for him to die naturally, then examine the bones again to receive the key item: Old Tiger's Fang and bring it back to Perih Vashai and you will be flagged to change jobs to Ranger.

First off, yes, this quest is easy to solo. I personally rode a chocobo in and then used a scroll of instant warp to get back to Windurst after obtaining the item.

Second, I can't remember the coordinates, but the cave is in the far South East corner of the map in Sauromugue Champaign. To get there, as you enter the zone from the Merpitud Mountains (sp?) go north a short distance and then to the east. You will notice that you are at the bottom of a ledge, you must follow this ledge pretty far to the north and you will eventually find the path to get on the ledge. While on this ledge go as far south as possible. There you will notice a passage way to the east which leads to a cave. This cave is guarded by 3 Sabertooth Tigers. Also an Old Sabertooth Tiger will spawn in the cave and slowly die. DO NOT ATTACK THE OLD SABERTOOTH TIGER. He must die from natural causes. When he dies, go to the back of the cave and examine the bone pile. You will then recieve a key item callled an Old Fang. You may then go back to Windurst and talk to the quest giver again. She will then give you a Ranger's Necklace and the Ranger Advance Job.

*NOTE* Since the Old Fang is a key item, you must get the quest before you can obtain this item.

Stats on the Ranger Necklace:
Class: Ranger
Lvl: 14
Ranged Accuracy +4
Ranged Attack +4

Any map locations for this in champaigne (NPC and the tiger)? I'd rather not have to run to Windhurst if I can help it.
wrong name

Once again, the info on this site is very poorly translated. In the US version, this area is called Sauromugue Champaign. It is right next to Jeuno, exit from Port Jeuno to got there. Perfect Dodge/Flee is helpful, but so is getting Sneak/Invisible from a White mage. Or, take a low level job so you don't lose XP - at area is extremly dangerous.
easy ~_~
