Summary

Altennia has asked you to watch over the Young Griffons as they devise a reckless plan to eliminate the Orcish threat...

Walkthrough

(Note: You must have completed the quest Gifts of the Griffon in order to receive this quest.)

After completing the quest Gifts of the Griffon wait for the next game day and then talk to Rholont at (E-7) in Southern San d'Oria (S) for a cutscene. After you talk to him, zone out and then come back and talk to Rholont again.

Head to Jugner Forest (S) for another cutscene. You must zone in from East Ronfaure (S) to get the cutscene. Next, head to (I-6) in and click on the ??? on a tree trunk for a cutscene.

Click the ??? on the tree trunk again to spawn the NM Fingerfilcher Dradzad. After you have defeated Fingerfilcher Dradzad, click on the ??? again for one more cutscene.

I am BLU50/NIN25, would I be able to solo this? I've heard people say that it is easy at 60+ and that it was a joke, so I was wondering how this would be for me.
Solo'd As 75SAM/37NIN

Last night I solo'd the Fingerfilcher as a 75SAM/37NIN, using a medium evasion build (Optical Hat, Scorpion Harness, Seiryu's Kote, Myochin Sune-Ate). It was a bit different than a standard solo SAM fight - normally I just start lighting them up with Light SCs and hope I can zerg them before they can do the same to me. This time instead I decided to try to straight blink-tank him down to 50% before I went for Meikyo Shisui.

He has pretty low accuracy (evasion skill at 261 + bonuses), and a reasonably slow attack rate, so keeping shadows up wasn't terribly difficult. Several times, Utsusemi: Ni lasted until its recast was up so I didn't even have to use Ichi that round. I got into a little trouble once when I hit the wrong macro a couple times in a row, trying to cast the wrong Utsusemi, and he got me 3 swings in a row (including a double attack).

Around 50%, I started a Light skill chain (Yukikaze to Gekko to Kasha), and by the Light took him down to around 5% after only 3 WS (I could have added another 3 WS to make another Light SC), so looking back I should have just zerged him from the start and then whittled away the last bit if needed.

When he used Orcish Counterstance, I just turned around and waited it out.

All in all, this was not a very dufficult fight.

would be nice of the F'ing walkthrough to point out that you have to zone into Jugner Forest [S] through East Ronfaure [S] in order to get the CS. Would also be nice if the guide didn't say Jugner Forest instead of Jugner Forest [S], but at least that's an obvious one.

Edit: Fixed it as best I could.

Soloed as a RDM/SMN taru
Slapped all the debuffs on him i could including gravity to help with hits and kept my haste enthunder and ss up which was reinforced with shock spikes (stun) shining ruby and phlanx combined to make it last quite a while. Fast Cast gear is a must here in order to keep up the rapid pace

Counterstance was a joke, cast bind and walk away an rest up refresh buffs and nuke if you to the mp, by the time un binds and runs to you most of his counterance should have worn off.

No food required and only lost 50% mp, sleep wont land on this guy but bind sticks for about a minute.

Just soloed as 75RDM/NIN easily... and I had to do it twice because I forgot to click the ??? after I beat him the first time and had to do it again so I was totally unprepared and unbuffed and just buffed up while I was fighting him and won again easily... Didnt do anything different when he did counterstance.... Too Weak.
not a problem with any EVA

Had no trouble solo as PUP75, took about 4 mins.
He was hitting hard, about 160-180 when shadows were down. That wasn't often though - only needed 2 Cure V's the whole fight - could have lived without them.
His /ja's came at about 20% HP - I was ready for a Light chain though (about 900 dmg) and finished him easily.

Not sure why Trivenity had trouble - as far as I can see rdm/nin shouldn't have much, given some decent EVA gear. Really the only time I got hit was when I was casting shadows - rdm should be even faster at that.

Well if you have 250 enfeebling or less even with elemental seal Fingerfilcher Dradzad can't be slept. Gravity does stick however as well as bind and he can be stunned no elemental seal needed.

I tried him as a 75blm/rdm and he has a lot of HP. My thunder IVs were doing over 1100 and were only taking about 1/8 of his HP bar. I got him down to about 2/3 with only 200 MP left after all the gravity, thunder, and experimenting.

A drk and a nin in the area were kind enough to help out since the nin needed the quest anyway. I might have been able to beat him since bind did stick for a long time. I could have rested my MP back while he stayed bound since he doesn't seem to have a ranged attack.

Drain works well, no MP to aspir, and for blm defense he does hit pretty hard. 80 to 120 for his regular hits and 200s for his criticals. With gravity and bind you should be able to avoid his melee though. The only thing you really need to worry about are the lady bugs in the area they will aggro if you get too close.

Solo'd as 75 Summoner
Predator Claws did roughly 30% of his HP for around 1600-1800 each.
After 2 predator claws and mellee for about 70-130 it was down to 26%
I'd guess around 5500 HP give or take.
I love Cutscenes

This guy wasn't too hard. Solo'd him as a 75PLD/37WAR. Had your typical pld tank setup w/Adaman Gear, Company Sword, Kaiser Shld, Shield Torque, Warwolf Belt, etc. Used a Tavnazian Taco and Yag Drink. Used Sentinel right off, followed by Rampart. The bastage didn't hit too hard, shield was absorbing most of his hits. Used Chivalry when I ran out of MP, and quaffed the other Yag drink. Ended up using Sentinel and Rampart twice in this fight. Took a long time but I was able to outlast him.

Just tried to solo this guy as whm/nin did just fine until counterstance he counter probably 60-80% of my hits i couldn't keep shadows up and ran out of mp thankfully a nice nin/whm showed up and helped me finish him off as a whm i was hitting for 60s and missed rarely other then counters I would highly recommend if you are going to solo him as a mage bring yag drinks.

high resistance to sleep spells I was unable to get repose off on him but was able to flash him to recast shadows without a hitch hexa strike hitting for around 300-600dmg took me about 30 min.

my stats
def 294
att 310
club skill 247 with + 33acc
evasion 194 with +30 evasion he missed about half the time but then again us whms dodge like a brick wall.
easy

Had my butt handed to me on RDM75/NIN37 at about 50%. Blind was nearly worthless on him, paralyze was ok, but didn't stop him once he did his counterstance and haste. He could not be slept or bound. Ate through shadows and stoneskin in 4 seconds and ate through it again as soon as I got it back up. I swear this thing has a Kraken Club. He attacked 20 times in less than 30 seconds and countered everything I threw at him. Hits were landing for 140-180, with 200+ crits. I had a LS MNK come and 2hr him.

O.o

Were you fighting naked or something? This guy is a cakewalk, soloed him as 70PUP/35NIN using WHMbot, and it barely touched me. After it used it's Haste move it was able to land a couple hits and got me to yellow once, but I got shadows right back up, WHMbot cured me right afterwards, and it didn't land another hit on me through the rest of the fight.

Can't say for sure, but it seems like he only uses Berserker Dance when he's fairly low on health, he started using it on me at like 30%-ish HP, and when I saw a THF solo it for a couple RMTers, the NM didn't use it until like 25% HP. It does give a pretty nice Haste effect, but the guy still has complete crap accuracy, so an upper-60s THF, NIN, PUP or anything else that can put together a decent evasion build should be able to handle this pretty easily, especially if they can get some kind of healing.

Did this with me (71WAR), 75WAR, and a 66BLM/33WHM. We weren't sure if we would need him or not. Anyway while waiting for the BLM to show up, the other WAR and I killed things to build our TP. I got to 200%. BLM arrived and we proceeded to fight the orc. 75WAR used Steel Cyclone/Mighty Stikes @300% TP and owned.. Not sure what damage was but the HP bar for the orc dropped fast, then I rampaged for 1095 and got a sc for another 500 dmg.. He died not long after that and the BLM just stood there the whole time. lol.. EZ

I solo'd it with a 66BST/33WHM.

When you're there, keep track of the Sprites - just in case things go wrong, they'll cast Raise III on you.

You're gonna use Biddybugs if you go empty handed. Be careful, they agro at my level.

The stump with the ??? is going to be cleared of Biddybugs. All you have to do is hot swap your biddybuygs and fight the Orc. They will be a safe distance away from the stump. Before you start the fight, cast Stoneskin and Blink. After you have charmed a Biddybug, have it fight the Orc and run to the other side of the stump close to the next batch of Biddybugs and get your Stoneskin and Blink back up. You can also heal for MP.

It will take about 4-5 exchanges provided you do not get agro.
