Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Sky Orb, which is obtained by trading 30 Beastmen's Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Sky Orb to the hut door inside Ghelsba Outpost and choose to enter the battle Toadal Recall.

Up to 6 people may enter and you will all receive a level 30 restriction. You have 30 minutes to win. You will fight 4 Fungars: Toadbolster, Toadcushion, Toadpillow, and Toadsquab.

Strategies

We went in with Hume BRD/WHM Mithra RNG/NIN Mithra THF/WAR Elvaan WAR/THF Hume WAR/THF Tarutaru WHM/RDM Our BRD had +15 CHR and CHR enhancing Food and could not hold a sleep on them, and Sleep Bolts were to no effect. They seem to have all fungar special abilities including Drain.

Can you at least tell me where the ??? are instead of saying trade the Sky Orb to the ???. A Location would be nice, I run all the way to Horlois Peak to trade the Sky Orb because it's the only BCNM circle I saw in Ghelsba Outpost! This Guide SUCKS!

The Hut in Ghelsba Outpost is where you trade the Orb to.
The same place where you can do the Level 20 BCNM Petrifying Pair.
That is why the quide didnt say to go to Horlois Peak.

The best set up is,

NIN/WAR
WAR/NIN
RDM/BLM
RDM/BLM
RDM/WHM
WHM/BLM

Saw some people do it today, the rdm kite 3 of em while the war and nin take one down, then they grab one thats been kited off the rdm and take that one down, to make kiting easier they Bind and gravity it gets resisted alot but it CAN stick. Whm obviously keep ppl alive and ull win with this strat easy

I wonder if 6 bst could do this using jug pets?

very likely since you are attacking with 12. Maybe have one BST kite 3 of them with with Tiger (awesome kiting jug pet since if it has aggro nothing can catch it as long as it's master is a good amount ahead) and the other 5 BSTs with pets go after one, and once it is down everyone picks off the others one by one.

Heck you could probably even have 3 BSTs kite and 3 BSTs fight the first round, then as each kiter's mushroom is targeted you add BSTs and jug pets.

Just remember Beasts fear Plantoids so Tiger might be a liability for the attack team.

Shouldn't it be Sky Orb?

Since it's a level 30 BCNM, wouldn't the correct orb be Sky orb, instead of the level 20 Cloudy orb?
Advice?

I see the setups that you guys have, but out of the friends i have, i couldn't do it with any good setup... like where are you going to find 3 red mages that'll actually do something with you? Im leader of my LS so i could get people, but out of the people i have, i don't think i could get any of the good setups i've read... what's your advice? anyone have any setups they think are really good?
We did it with!

I did this BCNM a total of about 7 times. In those attempts, we lost once. PT was as follows:

NIN/WAR (me)
RNG/NIN
RDM/BLM
RDM/BLM
RDM/BLM
WHM/BLM

What we did: RDMs would each choose a funguar and kite it with Gravity and Bind. NIN and RNG took the other funguar and focused on killing it, staying alive though use of Utsusemi, along with some backup cures from the WHM (who also was healing the kiters when they couldn't do it themselves). Once one was down, we'd take one from one of the kiters, who would then help us kill it. Rinse and repeat. Obviously, it gets easier and easier as you go. This strategy worked beautifully for us. Drops weren't all that great except for one shield that sold for like 400k or so. This was months ago however, so I don't know about current prices. Mainly, the drops were level 30 shields that have latents that are activated by a specific subjob, along with crappy stuff like shrooms, mythril beastcoins, and cheap gems.

In the party in the Quest description, I was the THF/WAR. I can tell you, it was raw decimation. At best we got one of the toads to 50% health when we all 2 houred, including the RNG. We figured it's probably best handles by something like SMN SMN SMN NIN NIN WHM... You need the blinks to live, and you won't have Utsusemi: Ni yet in this fight.
just a try

me and 2 other dudes tried this the other day for fun and giggles.

set up was:

bst/whm
drg/war
nin/whm

we got torn up pretty bad obviously because we did not know it was a 6 person bcnm.

drg took in damage fairly well as did the nin. the funguars can not be charmed. a smn party can prolly take them out quick otherwise i would go with a set up of:

drg/war (one of the best DD around this time)
blm/rdm (ES + sleepga, not sure if it works but worth a shot)
pld/war (ni is not available yet for nin so a tougher tank is a better call for this one)
whm/blm (for healing purposes obviously)
brd/whm (boost melee attributes and mages as well)
*insert any other DD here* (personally id go with another drg just because i saw the one i was with, took in hits fairly well)

good luck to anyone who attempt this one. i will try again soon with a much better prepared party and will suceed and will post my findings.

Not new, they just never put it up til now. This BCNM is older than CoP, I'm fairly sure.

They can't be charmed, by the way.

I know this BC drops those lv30 latent effect armor pieces (the shields and mantles), as well as Erase, Phalanx, and Utsusemi:Ni.

The level 30 stuff I did see in the 7 times I did it, but never Erase, Phalanx, or Utsusemi: Ni. I wish we'd gotten one of those... @_@

Argh I wasnt first! whatever... I think I gonna do this with:

WAR/MNK
DRG/WAR
THF/RNG
RDM/BLM
SMN/WHM
and the last I dunno... I gonna ask my LS if they want to do this and hope the drop is good
EDIT: I wasn't first -.- :P

Um.. sorry but, theres no way you'll be able to win with that set-up. I'm pretty sure you need Utsusemi, otherwise you're going to get torn apart.

people always rely on utsusemi. Kind of silly.
