Etude. +?

The Etudes are single target spells. You don't have to worry about others being in range.

What I'm wondering is what determines how much they increase a stat by. At lvl 36, max singing/wind/string skill, with a Rose Harp +1 (+2 Etude) this granted me either +6 or +7 to a stat. But without the instrument, it only grants +3.

A lvl 60 BRD was giving my WHM +9 MND with this spell (dunno the instrument, but he wasn't high enough for the 2nd tier Etudes).

I've been wondering about this too recently.

Before I got the Rose Harp+1 I was also doing +3 to every stat when casting etudes. Then I got it and started doing +6. Now at lvl 51 I'm boosting by +7 with the Rose Harp+1. I'm thinking that the + must be based on instrument/singing lvl, but I'm planning to do some experimentation with my CHR to see if that has any effect.

I'm a mithra, so my natural CHR sucks ._. Any 75 brds with maxed singing/string know what the etudes cap at?

Are the Etudes used a lot? Im a lvl 4 Bard atm, and am loving it up ^^ but for Etudes, should I pull aside anyone that needs Mnd (WHM) and sing for them? or should I focus on just MP Regen and the likes? Im guessing pulling aside a WHM everytime this Etude wears off, will only eat up down time? I dunno help me out ^^

I generally don't bother with spirited etude unless the Whm (or mnk for that matter) specifically requests it. The only etudes I regularly cast are Learned etude on the blm, enchanting etude on myself if I'm getting resisted, and maybe vivacious etude on a pld tank if they're getting beat up.

I don't have Ballad II yet (51), and I'll probably have to alter my lineup when I get it, but right now I generally cast ballad at the end of the fight on the mages and/or pld, then cast etudes on the mages right before the pull, then mob songs, AoE melee songs, vivacious etude on pld, re-ballad, etc.

It's great that they're single target ^^b it'd be ridiculous otherwise.
